    Shrimp ceviche
    Amy P.

I passed by this restaurant all summer, and wanted to do outdoor dining there. It didn't happen, so I decided to try indoor dining instead since it's 30° out! The restaurant was very quaint and interesting inside, decorated with many Peruvian statues and pieces of art. I had to try the sangria, which ended up being perfectly done, with a slight fruity hint and not overly sweet. For an appetizer, we ordered the shrimp ceviche. It was presented on a beautiful triangular dish with a flower, and had a wonderful citrusy flavor to it. It was crisp, and cold, and paired well with the red onion. For entrées, we ordered the Tallarin Verde con carne and the Camerones al ajillo. The steak was tender and perfectly spiced, presented on top of spaghetti in a basil/ spinach pool of sauce. The sauce was addictive! The shrimp was floating on top of a rich garlic sauce, which was absolutely delicious, presented with perfectly molded white rice. For dessert, we had the churros with their traditional ice cream, and tried the Coquito. The churros were warm, really crispy with lots of cinnamon sugar. It paired perfectly with the Lucuma ice cream. The Coquito was also quite delicious with a great cinnamon flair to it. The service was excellent, and our waitress was very friendly and gracious. It was an overall, wonderful dinner.

When I go to a restaurant I don't just judge the place on the food or service but how the management/owner handles their staff and customers. A couple first time customers walked in without a reservations, Shirley told them about a 20 min wait as the place was busy & jammed packed, and they decided to wait. Shirley and her staff treated these people exceptionally. There was a table of 6 set up with reservations that was delayed so Shirley had them sit at the table to wait - took their drink order - and treated them like royalty while they waited for their table. Now to me that is going above and beyond for someone without a reservations when your place is busy. By the way almost 20 min to the clock the couple was seated at their table. Shirley who is the owner, warmly greeted us remembering us from our previous visit. Placed us at a table by the door. Now for my new review. Called ahead - reservations 7:00 pm Saturday evening, this place has about 12 to 14 tables so call ahead for a reservations - note also street parking. When I called and spoke to Shirley the day before, I asked if they were going to have their famous Salmon dish Con Quinoa on the menu, "I 'll check with my chef." Saturday came and guess what she had the chef make and get special for us, since we missed it last visit. The Salmon. 2 servings and it was excellent. She even listens to her customer's requests and cares - WOW! I had their Pork special with Rice and let me tell you the flavor was excellent. We weren't planning on desserts but spouse love Flan - best she has had and I ordered some Purple Apple - Mazamorra - Morada, no idea what is was. Spouse was like yuck then she tried it, tried it again and again, you get the point it was that good. This is our NEW GO TO PLACE when we come downstate, NY, planning to be back again in April :). Food, service, staff and management are all exceptional.

This is a favorite gem of mine in Harrison. Adorable outdoor area in the warmer months. Year round the yummiest Peruvian food you could ask for. Great drink selections. The aji de gallina is scrumptious. My two boys love the the pollo Saltado! The specials are always mouth watering! Shirley is the friendliest and best hostess/waitress/owner out there! The presentation of each dish is lovely also. Can't go wrong with this place:) don't miss out on the Peruvian Donuts!

Order bisteck encebolloado and other stuff on the menu. It's not grilled steak it's sucks. Small piece of steak not grill. Only a lot of onion/tomato cheap stuff. Avoid buying from them not authentic spanish food. Trouble place to order any good spend $73.68 don't mind spending my money but will never come again and order stay away go for a drive to a better place. Do yourself a favor thanks.

    Pork Adobo was delish.

This cosy restaurant in our neighbourhood is where we frequent for tasty Peruvian food. We love its intimate and warm ambiance. Its red walls are adorned with Peruvian art, weaved rugs, and masks. One also can't miss their wall projection showcasing a constant stream of all things Peruvian- music, scenery, the majestic Machu Picchu, indigenous tribes, folk dances... We are usually greeted by Shirley who started this restaurant 7 years ago with her brother, the chef in the kitchen. If you are looking to order a drink, I would recommend their in-house Sangria which has a lovely balance of fruit and alcohol. We always start with the Ceviche Mixto, a light citrusy starter of fresh fish and seafood and the deliciously sweet fried Plantains (Platanos Maduros). For the mains, I would recommend Pollo Saltado - grilled chicken slices stir fried with red peppers, onions and tomatoes, accompanied by fries and rice. Pescado Al Ajo is another favourite - fried fish fillet with rice, topped with a delicious red garlic sauce. We also love Tallarin Saltado de Pollo, a delightful spaghetti dish with chicken, onions, tomatoes and green peppers sautéed in light soy sauce. Quenas regularly features specials. We recently tried one of them - Pork Adobo, stewed pork in a flavourful Peruvian pepper, onion and wine gravy and it was delish. There are several interesting options on the dessert menu. For example, Picarones -Ring shaped fritters of yellow squash and sweet potatoes served drizzled with a rich honeyed dark sauce and Churros con Lucuma, featuring the exotic Peruvian fruit, Lucuma in a scoop of ice cream. How lucky we are to have a little corner of Peru right here in Harrison.

We love Quenas, the food is good & the service are amazing. Food is like been in Peru. They always treat us like family.

Quenas is authentic Peruvian food. It is like been in Peru The service is amazing, for sure is one of my favorite for sure

I got a combo of chicken and papa a la huancaina and salad. It came with a side salad, too, so I definitely got my fill of roughage today! I like their salad dressing. The cheese sauce on the papa a la huancaina was great, and I loved the chicken. It all wasn't necessarily so much better than other places I've been to in NYC, but the server was nice, really on top of things, and the place was clean and had a nice atmosphere. Chips and salsa (5/5): My mouth is feeling a tingle from the salsa and I'm not mad. The flavor is rich and developed and they bring this to your table to kick off the meal. The chips are thin and crispy! Pisco Sour (4/5): This drink is the national beverage of Peru and is a must-have for all when enjoying Peruvian cuisine. I found this version a bit sweeter than sour from what I remember from my trip, but it was very tasty! Lomo Saltado (4/5): The steak is slightly over but every other aspect of this dish is perfectly brought together. The fry wedges are nicely crisped and the bottom of the rice absorbed that wonderful saucy flavor from the dish. Ceviche Frutos Del Mar (5/5): This dish has everything. Beautiful umami flavor, several fish, and a stunning presentation! My only ask would be to deshell the shrimp but otherwise perfect. It even comes with some sweet potato! Maduros (4/5): Lovely sweet flavor but I wish it was fried for another 60 seconds of crispiness. Service (5/5): Very attentive servers and delivered on every aspect expected. TL;DR: Next door to The Capitol Theater and would absolutely recommend for a wonderful meal, upscale atmosphere, and attentive service.

We've tried the delivery service, but it's too inconsistent, so I'd rather be the master of my own destiny and drive there myself to pick up our order. The daily lunch specials (~$13) rotate depending on the day with choices of pollo a la brasa (rotisserie chicken), beef or chicken stew, fried pork chop and one of our favorites, lomo saltado (beef, onions, peppers & french fries). Each lunch order comes with 1-2 side dishes like rice, french fries, fried yucca or salad and a pint of soup, usually chicken or pork. Almost passed it as its an unmarked door with small windows by the entrance. Almost like an apartment. Greeted by a waitress who spoke english. I opted for the mixed chofan rice and the steak with salad and white rice. The prices for both were similar, hovering just under $15. She got bread rolls with butter, which was really good as the bread was nice and warm. It wasn't microwaved warm as when the bread got cool it didn't transform back into playdough. From ordering to food on the table was around 15 minutes. It wasn't busy, about 5 other patrons. Steak came out and it was seasoned just right with a nice salad right on the plate along with white rice. The chofan came on a big plate, even though the picture makes it look small, it's surely a 2 person meal on its own. All in all for a small hole in the wall, this place rocks. The waitress told me on Fridays and Saturdays it gets very busy. So beware! I added pictures. Enjoy!
