We stopped by Roadhouse on a beautiful day and enjoyed the outdoor seating. It's also conveniently located about 10 minutes from Playland. We had unsweetened iced teas, and the kids' seltzer came in a kid-sized cup. After ordering, we were served cornbread sticks, which were really good and a hit with my son. Elwood also brought crayons and paper for him, which was a thoughtful touch. We started with the gator nuggets and frickles. The gator nuggets were our favorite appetizer. The frickles were good, but the batter was fairly thick, which made the pickle flavor a little subtle. For my entrée, I had the fried chicken with collard greens and mac and cheese. The chicken was nicely crispy and came with four pieces, though it was a little overcooked for my taste. The collard greens were on the sweet side, and the mac and cheese could have used a bit more flavor. The highlight of our visit was the service. Elwood was friendly, attentive, and struck the perfect balance of checking in without being overbearing. Overall, the food was a bit mixed for us, but the excellent service, family-friendly touches, and pleasant outdoor seating made for an enjoyable experience. We were in Rye for a show and saw an advertisement for the French onion soup on Instagram. We were sold. We came for the soup but LOVED every dish. The soup was delicious and isn't on the regular menu but instead a special item. We tried the Cuban sandwich and the Steak sandwich both with the sweet potato fries. The sandwiches and fries were delicious. The star of the show was the beer battered pickles. OMG...so good. This place is found in a cute little neighborhood. Another fabulous dinner! Had a craving for the great rum punch so I headed over. It was tasty and perfect as usual. I ordered the chicken combo fajitas and we got a jambalaya. The fajitas are very tasty in a nice tangy sauce. Veggies are al dente and delicious. Jambalaya was very good and memorable. I always enjoy my salad with the homemade poppy dressing. Just delicious! Better experience this time overall! The Shirley temple was balanced still! Fried pickles still my favorite thing, the cornbread was less dry. The cinnamon butter is fire. The brussel sprouts were cooked really well, tender but not burnt but I didn't like the mustard pairing. I think they need something a bit sweeter like a maple glaze or something of the like. The pulled pork sliders were good especially with the addition of the caramelized onions. They had a different sauce than I was used to, not necessarily your standard barbeque sauce but I was okay with it. So my good friend brought me here yesterday for the first time for my birthday . We had a reservation, but still waited about 20 minutes to be seated . Place was packed to the rafters, which for me is always a good sign . Our waiters were Beth and Ashley . For me they were absolutely stellar in every way possible one could want from a service staff especially when the place is packed . They're were the All stars in my book . As for the food , I had the fried chicken sandwich and I was not disappointed . Absolutely delicious. My first time having fried pickles and I am hooked . Collard greens delicious . Fried calamari cooked to perfection. My old-fashioned drink was enjoyable . If I'm knit picking, I would say it could've been a little more balanced, but again, not disappointed. Good food, great ambience and the place just had a very welcoming and warm feeling what more could a customer want? This is definitely a place I'll be returning too and I strongly recommend anyone to give them a try and see for yourself. This place is a hidden gem! My girlfriend and I went on a Friday evening and were seated right away. The interior is basic tavern style, comfortable and not overly noisy. The waitstaff were very friendly with lots of smiles, exuding warmth and a welcoming attitude. Water and warm fresh cornbread was brought very quickly while we figured out our dinners. The menu offers a wide variety of choices, and my girlfriend chose the gator bites to start. They were served very hot in a basket with a spicy sauce served on the side. She devoured them and said they were among the best she's ever had. My side salad was fresh. The rack of ribs I ordered was served quickly and was among the best ribs I've had. The meat literally was falling off the bone and the barbecue sauce was delicious. The side French fries were also tasty. My girlfriend ordered the pulled pork sliders with jalapeños, peppers and chile and thoroughly enjoyed one and took the other two home in a box. Went for a late lunch. The location is off the main roads so it's secluded. There was street parking. The ambiance was warm and inviting. We were greeted and seated quickly. I recommend the Rye Roadhouse to many people who are looking for good Cajun food, some southern food, and anyone interested in catching a Stanley Cup game. Their gumbo is the best I've had in this part of the country and their jambalaya is also top shelf. My former wife was from South Central Louisiana so I have some experience in that cuisine. Not your average Westchester joint -- more cozy, Irish/old-school barry feel that will make you feel you're much further away from NYC than you actually are. We ordered a steak sandwich and blackened mahi mahi, each with sides of sweet potato fries and a garden salad. I am pretty disappointed. I found this place on Yelp as I finished an appointment in the area. When I entered I headed to the bar to grab food and a drink. I sat down and ask the bartender for a menu because I was really hungry and wanted food. I placed my order and then told him I needed to run to my car quick because I forgot something. (Went to grab my charger for my phone because I was planning to stay). After my order he never came back to me but proceeded to talk to everyone else at the bar which I guess are regulars (I completely understand). After that a couple came in that he knew they were celebrating their 55th anniversary. (Of course he rejoiced with them had convos and then asked if they were eating. He then proceeded to tell them the specials of the day...(none of this happened for me at all. I was never offered a menu I had to ask and he never told me of any specials didn't even know that was an option) After trying to get his attention to just ask for water, he gave it to me and then the busboy, I'm assuming that was his job came with a to go order and handing it to me. I never asked for my food to go so I was extremely confused. He went to tell the bartender who came up to me and said you wanted your food to go no? Or you don't want it now? I told him I never asked for my food to go. He did "apologize" but I'm not sure where or why he would assume i asked for it to go when i never asked to place a to go order! I was never offered any other service. He told me he could put the already bagged food on a plate and serve it to me and I declined and just decided to leave because I honestly did not feel welcomed. I get home to eat my "to go" order and the food leaked everywhere. The catfish and fries were extremely soggy and the Mac and cheese was extremely bland. Catfish had no flavor either. I would say that this establishment was ok to good. It had a very cool 1800s pub feel to it. The lighting was ok and the chairs were hard without cushions and it might be fine for some and a little tough on the back for others. The acoustics were ok, albeit worse than I expected given the number of people and the comfy feel. Our waitress was attentive to some extent. Maybe fair to good. I'm The nachos were generously sized looked magnificent with plentiful and well proportioned ingredients. I think they could have used more of a kick and a little more bite since they were a bit bland. Maybe some pepper Jack or other cheese or some drizzled barbecue sauce might have helped too. I'd definitely give them another chance. The wings were ok. They were incomparable to places that are famous for their wings like Candlelight Inn or Sherwoods. Maybe they didn't need the breading? They were a little mushy and tasted just fine and were fair to good but not great. As the English would say, quite good. The ribs seemed as though they were cooked and cut into their individual pieces and then recooked. Not fried but maybe they were put under the salamander? They were slightly crisp which is not to mean they were not tasty-- they were good, perhaps due to the slight crisp and the BBQ sauce that worked well. Great spot for drinks and a good bite! It's on an unsuspecting street in Rye in a residential area. Don't be surprised when you get to the end of the street you have arrived in the right place. If you are heading there after hours there is a parking lot just past the restaurant on the left that is attached to an office building. A little easier than finding street parking. The drinks and food are yummy and reasonably priced! Highly recommend the wings, they are crispy and just the right amount of heat. The ambiance is a fun, casual, rustic venue. A little of a random spot and difficult to find parking but once you're inside, you realize it's some what of a local spot! We drove 20-30 minutes just to try their chicken fried steak special. As a native Texan, I can never find chicken fried steak in the north east, so when I heard this place was doing a special this weekend only, I had to stop by! My dad highly recommends the chili sticks, which are like chili hot pockets. I don't like chili, so I'm biased. I enjoyed the Mac n cheese bites. They were no fried Mac and cheese from Cheesecake Factory but they were satisfying nonetheless. I really enjoyed the collard greens, as I don't see that on menus often. I was unfortunately a little disappointed by the fried chicken, as it was a little dry. The pieces that were dark meat were good, but the white meat was left on the plate. Portions are a good size. been here twice and been disappointed twice. food is simply not that good which does no favors for its inauthenticity on top of it. none of these dishes are prepared as they would be in LA and you can really taste how far they are from home. crawfish was very fishy and rubbery texture, etouffee flavor itself was gummy and sweet/ketchupy. cannot emphasize enough how weirdly ketchupy it was in texture and flavor and now oddly sweet it was. comes with bland rice in addition to the questionably past fresh crawfish. MP ribeye is embarrassing. the chilli is alright and the gumbo is okay but not really gumbo. servers were cranky, unfriendly and unhelpful. we were one of a few tables on a bad weather night where they were obviously hoping to close shop early and go home and could not hide the fact that they were upset that they had to continue working because tables came in. my dinner partners were asked repeatedly if they wanted refills of their drinks and got multiple, you would have thought the server would mention that refills were not free! imagine how surprised we were when we got charged for four sodas. it's fun that all the tables have different hot sauces. decor is stereotypical of their theme. read more

This place is a little difficult to find it's down on a residential side street. But the food is excellent. Their fried chicken is out of this world. Meatloaf with gravy blackened cajun with collard greens and mashed potatoes. The ribs are very good as well along with the fish and chips.
