    One of my friends and I will periodically go out to dinner to catch up - and since we had not done so in over 6 months we were definitely overdue. After a date was locked, the next question was where to go. Talia landed on our radar since it had recently opened and came at the recommendation of a mutual colleague. The menu looked pretty good so we decided to book it. Talia is located in Port Chester, which I must say is seeing a boom in restaurants; seems like this is a new hot spot for dining in Westchester County. It's tucked away along a side street but catches the eye due to its turquoise exterior. The interior is quite spacious (and smelled great) with dining area spread across two floors. We were seated upstairs which, in addition to tables, housed a bar. The decor was upscale without being too stuffy - almost minimalist with small accents, medium woods, and neutral colored seating. The menu is a mix of Italian and French cuisine - separated into apps, bites, salads, pastas, mains, and sides. We decided to share everything and went with a few selections from each section. We decided to start with the hamachi crudo, delivled eggs, fried artichoke hearts, and panzanella salad. These were all great - the crudo was fresh, the eggs contained kimchi which gave it a welcome accent, the artichoke was paired with a tasty yogurt dipping sauce that cut the friedness, and the panzanella salad had an excellent balance of greens and bread. Panzanella salad has the risk of being too bread heavy but it was just enough here. For our mains we decided on the beef filet and the salmon. Both of these were tasty - the filet was served with a side of well-seasoned asparagus and a mustard jus that complemented the beef. The salmon sat on top of some sort of hummus (I think) that contained some chopped vegetables. The skin was super crispy on the fish and the hummus complemented it well. We opted for dessert, and I went with their take on a chocolate ganache cake. This was interesting - it was a super thin slice but that was enough as the ganache was super rich; the cake itself was somewhat dry but I'm not sure if it was meant to be that way? It almost ate like a rice cake with ganache frosting. Despite my confusion it was quite delicious. Service was excellent - everyone was super friendly, and chef-owner Ian Vest even visited our table to say hello. Overall, I had a great experience at Talia - this is a relatively new restaurant and I wish them nothing but the best in this new endeavor. They have some stiff competition in the area, but if they keep it up there's potential for them to be a standout restaurant in Port Chester.

    From the moment you step into Talia you are greeted warmly by the staff. All with smiles and an attentive attitudes. The restaurant itself is beautiful and dimly lit. Very cozy and comfortable. We opted to sit at the bar, the food and drinks were amazing. Jesse served us and he was so friendly and helpful when it came to picking out what to eat and drink. My date and I had such a wonderful time, we'll definitely be back soon !

    Some great food but a bit of a hot mess... We went here last night, somewhat spur of the moment so we called ahead to make sure they could take us (Friday night). They said that they could if we would sit at the bar but we explained that my mum's in her eighties so the bar might nt be our best bet. They promised a table as long as we could promise to be done by 8pm. Deal! We arrived, looking for the complimentary valet park; no one could be found. Daughter went to ask, and we were advised to leave the car in the street until I explained that we were literally blocking traffic... An awkward start. Then we were seated upstairs-- and when my mum had trouble with the stairs (no elevator), I was told that I should have mentioned that we needed a downstairs table. Um, we did say she was 87, right? Anyway, we were seated and eager to order straightaway, mindful of having promised to vacate the table by 8pm. It took a while to find anyone, and we literally were all looking! Long story short, some of the food was great (swordfish sashimi, lamb and salmon entrées were standouts) and our waitress was charming. Our main courses were taking a *very* long time, and she promised to go check on them and told us not to worry about being out by 8pm since it was their fault everything was taking so long. By 8:20, my husband was literally walking around with our credit card in hand, trying to find someone so we could pay and leave. At this point, people at the bar were somewhat looming over us, and it was easier to hear their conversation (one guy is building a new house, apparently) than our own. To top it off, the hostess came to find me and chastise me for still being there since we had promised to be out by 8! I was stunned and explained that we had been TRYING to leave for half an hour! Suddenly, two men were literally reaching over and around us to clear the table. We were decidedly being kicked out the door despite having been told not to worry about the time since it was the kitchen's fault for taking so long. The entrées didn't even arrive together, so I begin to suspect their was some miscommunication. A number of times, we were trying to find a server and saw the staff all talking in the back hallway. I think they are still ironing out the kinks... but honestly, with a bill of almost $500 (and the husband still tipped remarkably well (25%) which is more generous than I think I would have been, all things considered) it wasn't nice to leave feeling so unwanted. People were in a long queue as we were leaving, one man saying to us that they had been waiting over an hour (with a reserve) and his wife had walked down the street to see if she could find an alternate place for dinner. In short, I get that they're new and fun... but I'm not sure I'll go rushing back anytime soon. PS: I know that everyone else has given 5 stars, but the description of 2 stars as "Could have been better" felt exactly apt.

    Came to Talia's for lunch from Manhattan (It was an easy train ride in). We really enjoyed our food and took the time to eat! We ordered the crispy polenta (we scarfed this down- highly recommend), shaved Brussel sprouts salad (kimchi added a nice flavor to the salad), bolognese pasta (yum), carbonara pasta and Talia's tiramisu (drooling over the amaretti cookie). Drinks were strong and flavorful - I got the Kyoto one with gin and yuzu. The flavor combinations were spot on and tasty. The hostess and waitstaff were so friendly and helpful. The restaurant was cozy and modernly decorated. Bathrooms were clean. Would highly recommend and look forward to coming back!

    Staff was friendly. Chef came out to greet guests and ask if all was good, he even served the food himself. Atmosphere was inviting with nice decor. But the star of the show is the food.. lamb polpette was amazing firm and tasty. The server was attentive as she noticed we had a party of four and ask if we wanted to add an additional meatball. Crispy potatoes were lightly salted and delicious. I had the chicken breast with cream mushroom source wonderful. Wife had the sausage pizza wonderful as well. We said that we'd by back next week.

    What a dining experience! We tried swordfish bellies, bikini sandwiches, Bucatini Carbonara, trout, then Duck, tirimisu . All extremely well prepared. Attentive professional wait staff. Brought our own wine. Very comfortable and well paced. A great value overall too. You should really try this place. Best meal in any country I have visited in years. You can tell they just opened, so there are some kinks, but nothing got in the way of a fantastic dining experience.

As someone who regularly enjoys 3‑ to 6‑pound lobsters, I know exactly what a true 3‑pounder looks and feels like. The claws alone should be the equivalent of a hamburger. This was not that. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, he tried to justify it. The right response would have been simple: "I'm sorry -- I didn't think you'd notice. Let me refund the full amount of the lobster." That would have been the end of it. This was my first visit, on my birthday no less, and it will be my last. The confrontation was unnecessary, the explanation insulting, and the experience deeply disappointing. When I meet the lobster I'm supposed to eat, I know the difference -- and this was absolutely not the lobster I was shown. This was truly a bait and switch.

They also offer an enclosed atrium area, which seemed like a quieter option--but the heat was a bit too high for us, so we chose to sit inside. It was quite loud, so next time I would try the atrium area near the entrance for a more comfortable noise level. One of the highlights right away was the complimentary antipasto: a nice plate of mixed cheeses, olives, and sliced salami, along with a basket of bread. The thin, crispy salted bread was seriously addictive--so good! Paired well with our Aperol Spritz. We started by splitting the fried zucchini flower blossoms stuffed with ricotta, served over tomato sauce. You get two per order; they were good. For entrées, my friend ordered the Pollo Fino--strips of chicken breast topped with asparagus, shrimp, and mushrooms in a white wine citrus sauce. It came with four jumbo shrimp, and she said it was incredibly good. I had the Pappardelle alla Boschiola with prosciutto di Parma and green peas in a pink sauce. It was a generous portion and very tasty. I later noticed the menu included mushrooms, which didn't seem to be in my dish, but I did not catch it at the time. We finished by sharing the Napoleon dessert--my friend had raved about it. The flavor was good, and our server nicely split it for us, but the pastry layers were quite crunchy, making it challenging to eat. Overall, a fun atmosphere with tasty food. They have a big parking lot offering valet service.
