    Branzino prep

Where to begin? Oh I know. It's the branzino. It's a seemingly simple concept but here? It's elevated to one of my favorite dishes of the year. Filleted and then heated with a light sauce. With a little green beans and a few potatoes and voila. Just fantastic. But where this place excels is the little touches. We started with some bruschetta with Parmesan cheese and some olives. Yum. Service was spectacular. They filled every need without being obtrusive. And I loved the cappuccino too. It was really professionally done. It's not cheap but near Greenwich, what do you expect. This place knows it's audience. And I'm here for it.

Very impressed! I drove by Albas many times and finally made it a point to try it. We arrived early in a Friday night and were one of the first guests. Everyone we passed was extremely friendly and we felt so welcomed. My husband ordered his Jack and coke and I get my usual Cosmo. I must say the cosmo is a simple drink but this was the best I had in a very long time. The sweet and tart was a perfect blend just right! We ordered the calamari, it was good but I like it more crisp. My favorite place serves it coated in cornmeal and fried just right. This was a bit pale. The prosciutto and melon was good. Lobster ravioli was very good. My lamb was amazing and husbands fish was tasty. The service is wonderful, our server shared that this was his third day working there and we would never know as he was so good at his job. Everyone was friendly and happy. We will definitely retur

Amazing food. Very attentive staff. Nice mood music and decor and lighting. Oysters! Crab Salad! (Ps it's all crab). Bronzini! Even thought the private party was loud, they had a great time for a very elderly grandpa. A beautiful family place!

We live in Greenwich and order for pick-up a few times a month. In the summer, we also ate outside - good social distanced tables! Everything we've ate there is so tasty! My personal favorites are penne vodka, branzino, avocado tomato salad. My husband always orders rigatoni pomodoro. P.S. Photos from last years Valentine's Day before Covid restrictions. Hoping we can go back to this soon :)

Grandma's Lasagna is a signature special at Alba's.

You literally enter the dining room through a hallway of fresh antipasto, which immediately puts your taste buds on high alert. They rarely give you a menu and leave. Instead, one of the waiters welcomes you and lists the many specials of the evening which include: a fish, pasta and meat selection that is so extensive, it's hard to figure out why they have menus at all. They wheeled out a cart and made the Cesar Salad right at our table. As delicious as it was, it paled in comparison to their pasta entree special, Grandma's Lasagna. It's hard to tell if it's 5 or 6 layers of their homemade lasagna pasta on each piece, but it's so delicious it doesn't matter. With each bite you know Grandma must have spent hours combining fresh Italian seasoning with cheeses to create this masterpiece of a dish. If you are lucky enough to hear "Grandma's Lasagna" as one of their evening specials, don't let the opportunity pass you by.

We had unsweetened iced teas, and the kids' seltzer came in a kid-sized cup. After ordering, we were served cornbread sticks, which were really good and a hit with my son. Elwood also brought crayons and paper for him, which was a thoughtful touch. We started with the gator nuggets and frickles. The gator nuggets were our favorite appetizer. The frickles were good, but the batter was fairly thick, which made the pickle flavor a little subtle. For my entrée, I had the fried chicken with collard greens and mac and cheese. The chicken was nicely crispy and came with four pieces, though it was a little overcooked for my taste. The collard greens were on the sweet side, and the mac and cheese could have used a bit more flavor. The highlight of our visit was the service. Elwood was friendly, attentive, and struck the perfect balance of checking in without being overbearing. Overall, the food was a bit mixed for us, but the excellent service, family-friendly touches, and pleasant outdoor seating made for an enjoyable experience. We'll be back to try some of the other menu items.

The soup was delicious and isn't on the regular menu but instead a special item. We tried the Cuban sandwich and the Steak sandwich both with the sweet potato fries. The bar looked like it was full of regulars. The staff were very friendly. This hidden gem is a must try!

What I ultimately received was, at best, a pound‑and‑a‑half lobster -- nowhere near what was presented or promised. We waited endlessly for cocktails, the service was merely adequate, and when I raised the issue with the maître d' -- I believe his name was Mario -- the explanation was that the lobster was "out of its shell," therefore it somehow wasn't the same size. As someone who regularly enjoys 3‑ to 6‑pound lobsters, I know exactly what a true 3‑pounder looks and feels like. The claws alone should be the equivalent of a hamburger. This was not that. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, he tried to justify it. The right response would have been simple: "I'm sorry -- I didn't think you'd notice. Let me refund the full amount of the lobster." That would have been the end of it. This was my first visit, on my birthday no less, and it will be my last. The confrontation was unnecessary, the explanation insulting, and the experience deeply disappointing. When I meet the lobster I'm supposed to eat, I know the difference -- and this was absolutely not the lobster I was shown. This was truly a bait and switch.

I'm a tough critic, having worked in restaurants for a decade, so take this seriously: the service was impeccable and the food was perfect. The dining room is lively -- yes, it's noisy -- but that energy comes from a full house of happy diners, which tells you everything you need to know. We started with scallops: buttery, golden-crusted, and exquisitely tender. I had the veal saltimbocca -- one of my favorite dishes anywhere -- and Sergio's version is by far the best I've had. Dessert was a Basque cheesecake with a perfect balance of texture and sweetness. In five years, I have never had a bad meal or a lapse in service here. It isn't cheap, but it is absolutely worth every penny. Ignore the haters.

They also offer an enclosed atrium area, which seemed like a quieter option--but the heat was a bit too high for us, so we chose to sit inside. It was quite loud, so next time I would try the atrium area near the entrance for a more comfortable noise level. One of the highlights right away was the complimentary antipasto: a nice plate of mixed cheeses, olives, and sliced salami, along with a basket of bread. The thin, crispy salted bread was seriously addictive--so good! Paired well with our Aperol Spritz. We started by splitting the fried zucchini flower blossoms stuffed with ricotta, served over tomato sauce. You get two per order; they were good. For entrées, my friend ordered the Pollo Fino--strips of chicken breast topped with asparagus, shrimp, and mushrooms in a white wine citrus sauce. It came with four jumbo shrimp, and she said it was incredibly good. I had the Pappardelle alla Boschiola with prosciutto di Parma and green peas in a pink sauce. It was a generous portion and very tasty. I later noticed the menu included mushrooms, which didn't seem to be in my dish, but I did not catch it at the time. We finished by sharing the Napoleon dessert--my friend had raved about it. The flavor was good, and our server nicely split it for us, but the pastry layers were quite crunchy, making it challenging to eat. Overall, a fun atmosphere with tasty food. They have a big parking lot offering valet service.
