Great for a date night, lovely setting that feels like you are at a nice family home while having dinner. Staff is great and friendly. Food was solid, not spectacular. Loved the cheese and olives they brought out, we had a Tuscan Red Wine and a glass of Champagne which were lovely. I went there for a birthday party. We started at the bar and then headed to our table. Probably what turned me off is that they put a plate of olive oil down and a massive multi-legged bug came running across the table and the waiter scooped it up like it was a common occurrence. The side of the table that saw it was turned off for the rest of the dinner. I got the veal Marsala- not good. At all. And expensive. There were 8 of us and the bull was over 900 for not so great food. I won't be back. On top of which the valet offered to buy my car and other people at the table. Very weird. read more

Where to begin? Oh I know. It's the branzino. It's a seemingly simple concept but here? It's elevated to one of my favorite dishes of the year. Filleted and then heated with a light sauce. With a little green beans and a few potatoes and voila. Just fantastic. But where this place excels is the little touches. We started with some bruschetta with Parmesan cheese and some olives. Yum. Service was spectacular. They filled every need without being obtrusive.And I loved the cappuccino too. It was really professionally done. It's not cheap but near Greenwich, what do you expect. Very impressed! I drove by Albas many times and finally made it a point to try it. We arrived early in a Friday night and were one of the first guests. Everyone we passed was extremely friendly and we felt so welcomed. My husband ordered his Jack and coke and I get my usual Cosmo. I must say the cosmo is a simple drink but this was the best I had in a very long time. The sweet and tart was a perfect blend just right! We ordered the calamari, it was good but I like it more crisp. My favorite place serves it coated in cornmeal and fried just right. This was a bit pale. The prosciutto and melon was good. Lobster ravioli was very good. My lamb was amazing and husbands fish was tasty. The service is wonderful, our server shared that this was his third day working there and we would never know as he was so good at his job. Everyone was friendly and happy. Very disappointing. Besides the drinks which were good. The food was not. Appetizers (clams casino) very bland , no flavor. The veal dishes we all had were so dry and tough. You couldn't eat them. Service, there was none. no one came over to even ask if everything was ok, which at that point we would have told them that the veal is inedible. No one Except to give the check so the table could be cleared for other patrons. Definitely won't be going back. We live in Greenwich and order for pick-up a few times a month. In the summer, we also ate outside - good social distanced tables! Everything we've ate there is so tasty! One of my favorite restaurants in the Port Chester/Greenwich area. Been coming since they opened. A major renovation about 4 years ago resulted in a very lovely, warm inviting and QUIET interiors with a lovely separate bar great for lunch. The food is Northern Italian with a twist. The pastas are excellent and the sauces well seasoned and not overly sweet. I particularly like the Osso Bucco over parmesan risotto and one of the best veal chops I've ever had. Decent wine list and desserts. The service has always been impeccable. Highly recommended. read more

You literally enter the dining room through a hallway of fresh antipasto, which immediately puts your taste buds on high alert. They rarely give you a menu and leave. Instead, one of the waiters welcomes you and lists the many specials of the evening which include: a fish, pasta and meat selection that is so extensive, it's hard to figure out why they have menus at all. They wheeled out a cart and made the Cesar Salad right at our table. As delicious as it was, it paled in comparison to their pasta entree special, Grandma's Lasagna. It's hard to tell if it's 5 or 6 layers of their homemade lasagna pasta on each piece, but it's so delicious it doesn't matter. With each bite you know Grandma must have spent hours combining fresh Italian seasoning with cheeses to create this masterpiece of a dish. If you are lucky enough to hear "Grandma's Lasagna" as one of their evening specials, don't let the opportunity pass you by. read more

I had a really nice meal here. This is a traditional Italian restaurant. An assortment of classic dishes are offered with an extensive wine list. The waiters are professional, enthusiastic, and entertaining. It is not a modern place with a casual waiters and charcuterie plates with craft beers on tap. The decor fits this. We (my wife and I) sat outside by a big fountain - the kind of thing you might see in Naples I'm guessing. The inside is nice in a fancy sort of way. We shared the escargot appetizer which was delicious. Our second course was the caesar salad for two. It was good not great. Main course i got the lasagna and she had the penne a la vodka. This is probably the best lasanga I've ever had. Her penne was tasty as well. We had a nice tuscan italian red wine to go with it, and an orange sorbetto with espresso to close things out. Almost a five. Why not? Everything was very good, and the lasagna was fantastic, but overall had a bit of an old fashioned feel, and a bit too slow of a service/pace for me, which left us a bit stuffy and uncomfortable. Went here with family on Saturday night. Very disappointed with the service. As if they were trying to get us out of there, probably because we had kids. Although my kids were very well behaved at the restaurant. The foods came out in seconds. Getting to the food - my husband got chicken which was good. I got pasta with vegetables and it was flavorless. I can probably do a better job at home. My mother in law accompanied us too, and her pene ala vid a was just heavy cream. My first time tasting and seeing a baby pink pene ala vodva sauce color. Drinks - it on was on out table in 2 mins and the worst old fashion I have ever had in my life. Our recent office holiday party at Alba's was a total success. Leading up to the night, the management was eager to please as we decided (and changed our minds here and there!) on the best menu, décor and flow for the evening. The party itself was incredibly well managed - the reception and service being professional and totally on point from start to finish. The food was classic and fantastic. The main dining room ended up being a bit small for standing cocktails and the entertainment we brought in, but no one seemed to mind and everyone was comfortable once seated for dinner. Our headcount was 90 people for anyone considering the space for a similar event. We swung by the next day to pick up a few items we left behind and the guys treated us to lunch. The food was just okay. Unfortunately, we experienced an extremely rude waiter on our Mother's Day outing. We were a group of 10 and his tip was included, so essentially his service was not worth his $150+ tip. Half of our group arrived 10 minutes prior to the reservation so after our drinks arrived I simply asked if we could have some menus. Our waiter then replied, "you just sat down". Clearly we hadn't "just sat down" if we had time to order drinks and have them served. His comment was completely unnecessary and he continued with his attitude throughout our dining experience. If you have a waitstaff working on a holiday, the least this restaurant can do is ensure that their waitstaff treats their customers with some ounce of decency and respect. The mandatory tip and overall experience was not worth it for me. Maybe if we were treated kindly then I'd suggest this place to others. read more

We were seated and had to ask for water instead of it being offered. No one came to take our order for almost 15 minutes. We were discussing what wine we wanted and realized we all wanted the same type. We expected the waiter to bring us the bottle list at this point but he just stared us at impatiently instead. I found this place by reading some reviews on Yelp. I love to find great places especially one's that are family and locally owned. Being that the New York area has so many great places especially for Italian many times we wind up disappointed generally in the food. We go once and then never revisit. We ordered the Clams Oregenata, Caesar salad, Lasagna Bolognese and Spaghetti Carbonara. All we're excellent. At 9pm the place was still packed which is unusual for restaurants outside Manhattan. The Bolognese was exceptional. They used all Veal which adds to the richness of this simple dish. The pasta's are made in house. The cooked it perfectly-al dente. The ingredients we could tell were well sourced and only the freshest and best were used. The Carbonara is also a very simple dish to make but this one one of the best I've had anywhere including at our home. If you don't make a Carbonara correctly it will be gummy, heavy and unpleasant. This one was spot on. The service-We could tell right away by the way our waiter carried himself and spoke to us that he had to be a part of the family that owns Alba. After talking to him for a bit it turns out he's the son (Granit) of the owner. Friendly, knowledgable and professional. He knows the menu well and spaced out the meal perfectly. He couldn't have been nicer to us even though we weren't regulars. The house that they are in is beautiful. Tables are well spaced out. The decorations for Christmas/Holiday season were tastefully done. You can tell someone out a lot of thought into them. One of things I've learned to look in restaurants or the hospitality industry in general is the details. It shows they care more then just getting your money. They take pride in their place. I pointed out to my wife in looking at the window sills and lights that there isn't even a speck of dust. This place pays attention to details and cleanliness is paramount here. Needless to say when you're dealing with food it's very important. Believe it for not if the bathrooms are spotless then so is the kitchen. Both bathrooms here are spotless. I didn't go into the women's but my wife said it was the case and she's a real stickler for cleanliness. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of food, ambiance and service. They are lower then many places we've been to where the food was just ok. I can confidently say that if anyone finds the prices "expensive" then they just don't know pricing for this type of cuisine. You're getting a 5 star meal for 3 1/2 star pricing. That's a great value! I've been to some of the best Italian restaurants all over. This one is exceptional. This is a place I can't wait to go back to. I'll recommend it to everyone I know. read more

How does this wonderful place get anything less than 5 stars???? A very special place indeed! Perfect pasta. Best Veal Milanese outside of Italy. Husband said the crab claws were out of this world. These people know their food. The atmosphere is so cozy. The restaurant was packed so we weren't the only ones enjoying the evening. As busy as it was, we still had perfect service and tons of fun. 2 1/2 stars. Not impressed. Came here for Mother's Day dinner hoping for a special meal but it fell far short of expectations. Bread basket was a fine start to the meal but the rest was disappointing. The Caesar salad for two was prepared by our server "tableside" (on a cart several paces away from our table, so we couldn't even see him prepare it) and then inexplicably left to sit on the cart unattended for several minutes before it was brought to our table. When we finally received it, it was tasty enough but too heavy on the dressing--the lettuce was drenched. We ordered the sole special and veal parmagiano. Both were okay but not spectacular. Dessert was another letdown. The creme brûlée had clearly been hastily made: instead of having a creamy, silky texture, the custard was curdled and not pleasant at all (see photo). The final straw was that the gratuity was inexplicably automatically added to the bill and we were only a party of four?? Maybe it was an off day given the hectic holiday rush (even the valet was overwhelmed)... Not super eager to return but willing to give this place another shot. read more

The review is NOT about staff/service. That I liked a lot. My three is for the food. For the price, it was meh. Overcooked steak with bland sides (a few of the potatoes served as a side were undercooked), pasta was was lacking flavor, and octopus appetizer was rubbery. I sense there was a time when this place was very good, but they just aren't cutting it with the food anymore. For me, not worth a second try. read more

We have been frequent customers. Tonight was sub par. The main problem we had was that we felt rushed the entire time. Our salads were brought on top of our appetizers and the worst part was that we spent $90 on caesar salads that were supposed to be made fresh at our table but were brought to us....pre-made in the back, wilted, over dressed and tiny. We watched as the table next to us had theirs made fresh at their table while ours very obviously been sitting around for some time. The main dishes were just okay. Our waiters were rushing, we were never offered water a second time as we once again watched the table next to us get refills on water and come dessert our waiter literally went through the choices so quickly that we had no idea what he even said. We will not rush back which is unfortunate as we have had great experiences before. I am literally left feeling quite like they were doing US a favor for coming in. read more

My friend and I met here this week and shared a Caeser salad (listed on the menu as $26 but we were charged $28) We requested a piece of swordfish added to our salad and were shocked to see an additional $42 charge for one piece of fish. No complaints about the quality of the food or the service but you need to let people know if you are going to charge that much. The manager could not have been less sympathetic to our complaint. read more
