I had never actually been to Southern Table, I had only ever had takeout from there once or twice, but I have been wanting to try it for ages and I have to say it was worth the wait. We went on Easter for brunch, which we decided to do last minute and they let us know they could squeeze us in. We sat on the screened in patio. They were massively busy, but the staff was on their toes, checking in, taking away empty plates, being very kind (even though they were clearly crazy with how busy they were). We started with the Brie stuff pretzels. They were more like pretzel sandwiches (pretzel sticks cut in half with Brie in between), but were really tasty. It was all so good, I kept forgetting to take pictures until after we had already dug in. The pretzel app came with 4 pretzel/brie sandwiches. We also got the spinach an artichoke dip. It came with a nice amount of chips (hate when they give you too few and then you're just left with gobs of dip and nothing for it). It also came with salsa and sour cream, which seemed odd, but was nice for the extra chips and also family friendly if the dip didn't appeal to kids. The dip itself was really nice, it didn't taste as rich as spinach and artichoke dips often are. I could really taste the spinach, but in a good way. Usually dips like that make me feel overly full and are so heavy, this was a refreshing take on it. We got the Dutch baby pancake, the kids Mac and cheese, the pimento cheese and ham omelet (which I got scrambled), chicken and waffles, and the hot honey chicken. Overall, the food was delicious. The flavors all had depth and were really satisfying. We came home with lots of leftovers and we were all very happy when the meal was done. We will definitely be going back. read more

I can't believe I haven't reviewed Southern Table yet. I have been quite a few times and it never disappoints. It won't be the least expensive place you'll hit up but it hits all the high points and does it very well. Service, outstanding. Always friendly. Always accommodating. Checks in enough but not too much. Went this time with some pals for brunch. Pondered the menu trying to decide how we would be able to try enough items without breaking our stomach or the bank. Ended up getting avocado toast with an egg (took fooooorrrrreeevvver to figure out which one we wanted), chorizo ranchero and the signature French toast FTT (for the table). So my husband and I have a thing about going to Michelin recommend restaurants. We want to see how they actually rate and if they are worth the suggestion or star. So far we have not been steered wrong and Southern Table was no exception! We decided to split the chicken and waffles and as you can see it is a big a place of food! The chicken was crispy and the waffle was fluffy we were very happy. The service was great and we decided to sit outside (we went here in late fall). The one caution about this place is they have a bit of a bee problem. It's not their fault and they have precautions set around the outside seating to catch them but if i was allergic or afraid I would definitely recommend sitting inside. They had high chairs for our little one and gave us a nice spot in the corner away from others. Fried Green Tomato (5/5): Didn't know what to expect ordering this -- I must admit I had never tried this before. Holy cow it's toothsome! The perfect amount of breading surrounds a delectable juicy green tomato slice. The dip was creamy and perfectly complimentary. Buttermilk Fried Chicken (5/5): This plentiful plate of chicken (4 pieces) was awesome! The chicken is super juicy and simultaneously has a nice crunch from the exterior in most bites. The spinach on the side of this dish is some of the best sautéed spinach I've had and while this isn't normally a highlight it is worth the mention here. Sweet Potato Fries (4/5): A very tasty crispy fry! Pulled Pork Special (5/5): First of all this is a huge portion of pulled pork and it's got a rich and sweet tangy flavor. The cornbread and southern biscuit have a deep buttery depth and flake in your mouth. The pickled onions and slaws were tasty as well. It was my friend and I's first time here and it was great! I made a reservation online ahead of time for Saturday brunch just in case. I had to wait in the parking lot for a spot to open up but it didn't take long. We were greeted by the host and provided menus. Our server Shane was very attentive through the whole meal. I had looked at the menu before we arrived and knew I wanted the shrimp and grits and fried green tomatoes. We ordered the apple pie moonshine which was sneaky strong but delicious and didn't taste like alcohol but hit you hard after. The tomatoes came out quickly and were crispy without being oily with homemade ranch. The shrimp and grits were everything I dreamed of. The cheddar grits had perfect seasoning and the cajun gravy was a little spicy but the perfect amount. I will be dreaming about this dish in the future until I come back! My friend had the chicken and waffles which was a nice portion with 4 pieces of chicken and also perfectly seasoned and a nice crispy waffle. He was given plenty of butter when he asked for it and extra syrup. The place wasn't too loud, was nicely decorated and has a nice heated outer patio thats covered. One of the nicest people I met while I picked up my order!! They were rated as the #1 burger spot in the area. Unfortunately I don't eat or try red meat and had to stick to the sandwiches. This was a quick take out order on my way to JFK. An order was placed for 2 sandwiches, hot chicken and southern chicken sandwich. I preferred the hot chicken as it was eaten fresh. I saved the southern for my ride back. It was still good but fresher would have been better and I should have requested the coleslaw on the side, my bad! These Sandwiches in the lunch menu are the best deal you can find. The portions are huge as it came with a side. I chose French fries and sweet potato fries. Idk. It's fine. Well fine and pretty expensive. Which makes it less fine. Southern Kitchen is kind of in the middle of nowhere, off the Pleasantville main drag. No parking. The space is pretty big and ambiance is super cute. Props there. Service was kind of rude. Sat at the bar and both the bar and most of the restaurant were pretty empty but took a long time for anyone to be bothered to take our drink orders and then our food orders. Plates, utensils, and entrees were subsequently basically thrown at us without comment. No Southern hospitality from the waitstaff here and staff was continually on their phones. Food: Alright so I guess I would unenthusiastically but not protestingly come back here to try different stuff. But I was underwhelmed. We got the Mac and Cheese, Santa Fe Salad with Nashville Hot Chicken, and a side of string beans. Mac and Cheese: 9/10 at least. Damnnnn. Come for this alone or order as a side if you want to hedge your bets with respect to the rest of the menu. Huge portion, piping hot, melted deliciousness. I would note it was more traditional than gourmet mac and cheese but do we always need the gourmet take? Price on this was cool too. String Beans: I mean they were sautéed green beans. They were very oily and also had an overwhelming charred flavor which just didn't love. Good size though on this one too. Santa Fe Salad with add on Nashville Hot Chicken: No. This thing looked like one of those rebagged salad kits you find in the supermarket. No Cheesecake Factory Santa Fe here. And the chicken was weird. It was just strips of fried chicken cutlets tossed in their Nashville sauce, which wasn't even very hot, and the chicken could not have been drier. Took most of this one home and then just threw away. Again, I guess I would come back if we're in the area but nothing I would look forward to. We need better restaurants in Westchester. read more

But the real joy was that I waited maybe 10 minutes for service after I was seated -- I didn't even notice -- but 3 separate people at Southern Table apologized to me during the course of the evening and at the end of the meal they even comped the desert. I've gotten takeout from here a few times and it's always really good. This was my second time dining in. The space is beautiful. It's very open and I love the decorations. We were seated right away and our waiter was really nice. We started with the fried green tomatoes and spicy cauliflower which were both delicious and perfectly crispy. We also got the sweet plantains- they were good but the cream sauce it came with tasted like watered down sour cream and seemed unnecessary for the dish. I got the crispy chicken sandwich as my main dish. I felt like it was a little too salty. For the most part, the food was good and the service is great. Came here for my besties bday in November. No one had ever been to this place but she did her research for a southern style restaurant with brunch. The guacamole you can tell was freshly made and I loved that they let you pick the spice level. They have an option for bottomless brunch and a plus is that it's not a forced thing that the whole table has to participate in. I always make a detour to this restaurant when I am in the area. Fun, rustic urban chic decor. Open kitchen. Long bar with televisions that don't disturb the main dining areas (indoor, outdoor but closed in and exterior). The knowledgeable front of house team makes excellent suggestions and is attentive without being intrusive. The fried green tomatoes are very good. I recommend asking for them with honey mustard. I am partial to the Chinese chicken salad with romaine lettuce instead of mixed greens. My partner favors a chicken sandwich that he gets blackened. Cocktails are inventive and fun. And burgers are always a winner. They have a large menu that can accommodate any palate. Prices are on the higher side for the area, but food is delicious. If there was more food like this in Westchester, I might consider moving there. Not really, but for my many friends who do live in the Best (their nickname, not mine), I am down to come to Southern Table every single time we hang out, because I fucking LOVE the food here. I haven't eaten everything on the menu, admittedly, but I'm not exaggerating when I say I was very much into every single thing we ordered. In order from Goddamn Delicious to Gimme That Right Now It's The Best Thing I Ate All Week, we got the brussels sprouts, the hot chicken burrito, the asador corn, the fried chicken sandwich, the shrimp and grits, the buffalo molasses wings, the firecracker calamari, and the smoked ribs. That's everything, and it was all so, so good. We ordered the ribs for the table, and my buddies are lucky I didn't just grab them all and run for it. I love ribs with all my heart, and these are outstanding. The service is also on point. Our waiter knew his business, and got it all right, including asking us early and often if we needed to reup on drinks, and we did. I tried both the Smokey Mountain and the Southern Smoke (whiskey cocktails with some smoke), and I was quite pleased. That said, the bartender was deeply in the weeds on a busy Friday night, so someone should get her some help. Anyway, this is an excellent choice for dinner (and I imagine any other meal they serve). Perfect comfort food brunch spot. Normally I start my reviews with the food but the level of service and attention to detail needs to be the headliner. Not only was the service attentive and timely but the waiter was also engaging and took the time to make our brunch the full experience. The next day I received an email from the owner thanking me for dining with them and it also had a link to reserve with them again through a special link to ensure even better experiences next time. Not sure how they could top today's experience but I will definitely be back to find out. And while this was assuredly an automated email, I still loved the attention to detail and making our business feel valued. Now for the good stuff. It was very hard to decide what to eat or drink because everything looked and sounded amazing. The biscuits and gravy with poached eggs were amazing. The bacon and eggs avocado toast was also very good. The unlimited mimosas for $25 was a deal we couldn't pass up but next time I will try some of their specialty cocktails especially after reading the descriptions. And all of the dishes they were being served around us gave us fomo time and time again. There is plenty of seating indoor, covered outdoor and outdoor seating without cover, for those amazing New York days. There are funny signs decorating the interior as well as an urban, rustic feel. Food was decent as I ordered their Mon Special the Bulleit Burger. It came with fries that was very crunchy and crispy. To my dismay, the wait staff did not pack my leftover fries in my takeout box. For the price point and tip we paid that was not acceptable. Our original waiter wasn't there but another young woman offered to pack up my food which I would rather have done myself had I known she would leave out the fries which as one of the best part about the meal. She actually packed the 2 slices of tomato with my leftover burger! My family all ordered fried chicken in different formats and they were fine. Overall I feel their food is overpriced as the flavors weren't that unique. Always a great experience at Southern Table. Chef Pasquale always has amazing menu items and great specials. I would suggest making a reservation on weekends. It gets crowded around dinner hours. Always clean with a friendly and inviting staff. It's a great atmosphere wether casual dining or a date night. Just a great atmosphere. The food is beyond amazing. I've never ordered something I didn't like. All the food has thought and extra care put into it. We had the French Onion Wontons as an appetizer. A delightful surprise that I wish I had a few more of. It has melted Gruyère cheese which I never had before. The fried chicken is some of the best I've eaten that's not in the South. Very crispy and the meat is juicy. I had Carne Molida Tacos. You get three large tacos and a side of rice and beans. All amazing. Tuesday is now all you can eat tacos. The shrimp were a nice size and everything had great flavor. Wasn't too runny. The braised short rib was my favorite! Very flavorful, tender - the mashed potatoes and veggies it came with were a great pair. The Ceaser salad was a nice starter to share between a few people. The bartender/server quickly attended me provided water and their lunch menu. Order their spike watermelon drink and wow was the juice fresh and the drink was tasty. As quick as my order was placed 1/2 way thru my drink my appetizer arrived. The servicing since can easily feed two people. The first bite I was blown away on how delicious and well made the fried green tomatoes were. Cooked green tomatoes were warm but firm the breading was fried to perfection, evenly crispy and did not fall apart after every bite. Was in NYC for the weekend catching up with some loved ones and was looking for a nice brunch place. Called for a desecration for this one, based on the menu, pictures of the food and the detailed reviews. We were sat down outside and they had a full house, definitely recommend calling for a reservation ahead of time to be safe. Cute outdoor lighting and heating too! CRISPY CHICKEN SANDWICH Buns were lightly toasted, but damn that buttermilk fried chicken just HIT the spot! Came topped with bacon, ranch and cheddar cheese sauce. Choice of a side of fries.
