Walked into Donjito and was immediately met with smiles and friendly faces. Everyone from the bartender, Kat, to Jorge our waiter and even the busboy were exceptionally friendly. We spilt the LA42 sushi rolls and the Bistec Encebollado. The food was delicious. The music was just loud enough to hear in the background without it drowning out conversations. There are many other items on the menu that I would like to try, so I will definitely be back. read more

Stopped for brunch here Sunday. The place is nice with a very light and airy ambiance with great music to amplify the atmosphere. The service was prompt. As soon as we sat down our waitress came to take our order and the food came out quickly. I would suggest they hire more help because our waitress was scarce. She was working too many tables. Apparently they have another room around the corner for large crowds to watch the soccer tournaments so she was working that room and the main room too so it took a long time for her to come back around to us. In fact, I had to go upfront to ask the owner to melt the cheese on my Cuban sandwich cause it took her too long to come back. Also, when I asked for mustard for my Cuban sandwich because I couldn't taste the mustard she told me without going into the kitchen to find out if they have mustard that the restaurant doesn't have mustard. When I told my granddaughter to show her from the menu that mustard comes the Cuban sandwich she looked stupid and retreated to the kitchen and came back with a small cup of Dijon mustard. The Caribbean rice was trash. They should take it off the menu. The fries were awesome. The skirt steak was okay. The waffles and chicken were decent. The pork dumplings were tasty. The chicken empanadas were good but I've had better at The Cuban Inn in Tarrytown. The panini Cuban sandwich was not good even with the missing mustard I got from the kitchen. I would not order it again. I would go back but would try something different next time before writing them off altogether. read more

I had high hopes for this place given the reviews but it was simply not good. We came for lunch around 11:30 (Google states they opened at this time) but they did not open until noon. The place was surprisingly busy and there were only 2 servers which resulted in slow and inattentive service. The menu is ambitious and interesting but the food tasted very bland. We started with the Asian ribs and jalapeno poppers. Both looked unappetizing. The ribs were dry despite sitting in a pool of sauce which tasted burnt. The jalapeno poppers looked like something I would make at home and tasted that way as well. My wife's burger was OK, although she ordered it medium and it came pink so she had to send it back. My pork mojo bowl was ok, but underseasoned as well. Surprisingly the mojo sauce was bland as well when it's typically bold and garlicky. Overall I don't get why this restaurant has such stellar reviews - the food overall was bland and looked homemade. I wouldn't come back. read more

One of my favorite places to eat & I was Super disappointed, about this night!! The drinks were horrible! The food super disappointing, we ordered pan seared crusted salmon with rice and what we got was fried breaded salmon, that looked and taste like it was bought in a supermarket nearby in the frozen section, the rice was just wet mushy rice. But the icing on the cake was when a lady came in with her dog, she must be a regular customer because she was treated like one, all the workers were petting the dog and at the same time handling plates, cups and bringing out food to customers, Not cool!!! The food was superb ; their mixture of cultures got their heavily Latin with some Japanese influences was all right in my book . Kat their bartender is a superstar drink making machine; luved her . My fish was delicious the guacamole was perfectly done . Lovely indoor and outdoor space great bar delicious cocktails and pretty reasonable prices . Went here again last night for dinner after about 2-3 years since my last visit. My wife ordered the bistec encebollado and I had the ropa vieja. Both came with yellow rice but only mine came with black beans and the wife's came with sweet plantains. No worries...I gave her some of my beans. She gave me a plantain. My only gripe is for the price we paid we felt that both dishes should've came with beans and plantains. This is pretty much the norm at many other Latino restaurants for the same price. Also, my ropa vieja had a couple of pieces of fatty beef. For $26 dollars I prefer my dish to come with only meat not fat. The yellow rice was bland and could use some extra seasoning. The avocado and crab meat tostones appetizer was good. Servers and Manager were very pleasant and made us feel welcomed. read more

The tres golpes sushi roll was incredible! Don't miss it. The Pernil entree was also very good. In the lomo Saltado entree, the beef was perfectly done, but the dish needed more sauce. Avoid the octopus appetizer. It was overly chewy and other customers also noted this. Kristel, our server, was very friendly. The food also came out very quickly. We both ordered appetizers and entrées, and we were done with our entire dinner in less than one hour. read more

My husband and I love fusion restaurants so we decided to check this place out. I made a reservation for 2 on a Thursday night. The bar in the front was busy but the dining room was pretty empty so we were able to choose our table. First thing that stood out to me was the cute vibes of the place. The art work on the walls and different backdrops- great for a photo session. We were given two paper menus and an iPad with photos of the food. That was pretty cool, especially for someone like me who likes to see photos of the food I'm eating before I even choose a restaurant. Service was fine and staff were friendly however the wait time for our food especially in an empty dining room took a while. Now, the food was AMAZING. We ordered Cuba Tabaco y Ron (Latino eggrolls) as an app - SO good. We got a Lomo Sushi Roll to share, which was tasty. I got the Roasted Pernil and my husband got the Honey Glazed Salmon. Both were delicious and filling. Would definitely check this place out if you enjoy Latin fusion food. It's such a cute and romantic place. I will say I got a headache from the red lights above us, I wish there would have been more clear lighting at the table but regardless this is a place to check out. read more

The place has such a charming and welcoming vibe. We stopped in without a reservation since it was still early, and we were seated right away. The inside and outdoor patio is beautiful, definitely great backdrops to take pictures. The menu itself was just a flimsy piece of paper and looked worn, but the dishes are cleverly named. We ordered the Aperol Coconut Margarita, which was absolutely delicious, and my friend had the red snapper, which she raved about. I'm updating my review because lunch today was absolutely spot on! We sat on the outdoor patio, which was comfortable and relaxing, and even scored a parking spot right in front of the restaurant--perfect start. The frozen mango piña colada was both delicious and strong, just the way I like it. We shared the coconut shrimp, which were fried to perfection--crispy on the outside and paired with a tasty chipotle mayo. For my main, I ordered the bento box (they offer three versions). I went with the one that included sliced skirt steak mofongo, shrimp mofongo, a dragon roll, and a tropical salad. The mofongo is hearty, so I took half home, but it was full of flavor. The skirt steak was incredibly tender, practically melting in my mouth, with a rich and flavorful sauce. Overall, a fantastic lunch experience--I'll definitely be back! read more

Happy we gave this place a try! We ordered calamari, octopus, chips & guac, asian ribs and two strawberry basil margaritas. All exceeded our expectations, which is rare. The Mofongo was a mixture of plantain and plátano maduro, which was a perfect blend of savory and sweet, the shrimp added a great taste! Drinks - we did not enjoy our drinks. Finally got to try his spot and was very impressed. This spot is a blend of many cusines such as Dominican, Asian , Mexican and Puerto Rican. The food and drinks were amazing. We stumbled in on a rainy summer afternoon. We were greeted by a friendly, welcoming gentleman, Larinzon. The decor is impeccable and made our day seem less rainy and also like we were on vacation.
