My husband and I love fusion restaurants so we decided to check this place out. I made a reservation for 2 on a Thursday night. The bar in the front was busy but the dining room was pretty empty so we were able to choose our table. First thing that stood out to me was the cute vibes of the place. The art work on the walls and different backdrops- great for a photo session. We were given two paper menus and an iPad with photos of the food. That was pretty cool, especially for someone like me who likes to see photos of the food I'm eating before I even choose a restaurant. Service was fine and staff were friendly however the wait time for our food especially in an empty dining room took a while. Now, the food was AMAZING. We ordered Cuba Tabaco y Ron (Latino eggrolls) as an app - SO good. We got a Lomo Sushi Roll to share, which was tasty. I got the Roasted Pernil and my husband got the Honey Glazed Salmon. Both were delicious and filling. Would definitely check this place out if you enjoy Latin fusion food. It's such a cute and romantic place. I will say I got a headache from the red lights above us, I wish there would have been more clear lighting at the table but regardless this is a place to check out. read more

The place has such a charming and welcoming vibe. We stopped in without a reservation since it was still early, and we were seated right away. The inside and outdoor patio is beautiful, definitely great backdrops to take pictures. The menu itself was just a flimsy piece of paper and looked worn, but the dishes are cleverly named. We ordered the Aperol Coconut Margarita, which was absolutely delicious, and my friend had the red snapper, which she raved about. I'm updating my review because lunch today was absolutely spot on! We sat on the outdoor patio, which was comfortable and relaxing, and even scored a parking spot right in front of the restaurant--perfect start. The frozen mango piña colada was both delicious and strong, just the way I like it. We shared the coconut shrimp, which were fried to perfection--crispy on the outside and paired with a tasty chipotle mayo. For my main, I ordered the bento box (they offer three versions). I went with the one that included sliced skirt steak mofongo, shrimp mofongo, a dragon roll, and a tropical salad. The mofongo is hearty, so I took half home, but it was full of flavor. The skirt steak was incredibly tender, practically melting in my mouth, with a rich and flavorful sauce. Overall, a fantastic lunch experience--I'll definitely be back! read more

Food - The ropa vieja lacked flavor and had minimal seasoning. The bistec encebollado was good. The Mofongo was a mixture of plantain and plátano maduro, which was a perfect blend of savory and sweet, the shrimp added a great taste! Drinks - we did not enjoy our drinks. Finally got to try his spot and was very impressed. This spot is a blend of many cusines such as Dominican, Asian , Mexican and Puerto Rican. The food and drinks were amazing. We tried the birria rolls which by far were the best! Also tried steak and avocado roll and lobster trifongo which were excellent. Drinks were also good and with a nice kick to them. Appetizers and drinks were good. Main dish (Mofongo/Pernil) was not tasty as expected. Pernil was dry and usually a mofongo is served with a garlic sauce and this dish had a gravy that I personally didn't enjoy. This was my first time here. We were seated right away. Some of our guests arrived early. The restaurant is on the smaller side. When you walk into the right, they have a bar area and the left is all the seating and dining. When we arrived for our reservation, our waiter greeted us at the table. He took our order of drinks. It took about 20 minutes for the drinks to arrive was not very happy with the delay in service. Shortly there after our appetizers arrived. Our apps were really good. The Asian ribs were disappointing. However, the dumplings were excellent. For dinner we had the bistec encebollado, churrasco mofongo, and the spicy avocado sushi roll. Dinner was great. For dessert we had the Tres leches and the chocolate Tres leches, which was delicious. We originally had asked our waiter for two separate checks which he had agreed to. When it came time to get our check, he dropped off one check. It was a bit of an issue to get the breakdown into two separate checks and to find our waiter. We ended up speaking with the owner who helped us and also extended us a discount for the error. I will definitely have to consider coming back. My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at Don Jito's last night, and the entire experience was nothing short of phenomenal. From the moment we walked in, the ambience was warm and inviting great vibes, outdoor patio seating, and even a couple of social-media-worthy photo ops that made the night even more memorable. We started with the Brussels sprouts, which were hands down the best I've ever had perfectly crisp on the outside and glazed in a sweet chili sauce that hit every note. I also had the mussels in blanco sauce, and the broth was packed with deep, rich flavor absolutely top tier. For dinner, I went with the Lobster Stir Fry, which was not only visually stunning but layered with flavor in every bite. My wife had the Honey Glazed Salmon, and it was equally impressive a beautiful crunch on the outside, tender on the inside, and full of flavor. We also tried both the Red and White Sangria refreshing, well-balanced, and delicious. Our server, Edgar, was fantastic attentive and personable. And when John (the owner) found out it was our anniversary, he surprised us with a complimentary dessert. That level of service and hospitality goes a long way. We had a party of 11 on a Saturday night that we were able to make reservations for the week before. We were sat promptly and everyone was very friendly and professional. The latin sushi was sooo good, I had the tres golpes roll and someone else had the surf and turf roll and the king of Mamaroneck roll which all were very good. I took off a star because there were a couple of hiccups like adding salt to margarita when asked not to and also not getting an appetizer and then getting double of another. However no big deal it was a big party and a lot of orders. Otherwise everything was great and decently priced. We def want to go again and try other items. read more

A great find in Mamaroneck. This is our 2nd visit to Donjito and it was as good or better than our last. They have a great list of cocktails and I had the Mango Mezcal Margarita which was great. Started withj Guac and chips which were pretty good. I sampled both the Ropa Vieja and the Roasted Pernil. Growing up in FL I had better Ropas. This was good, but didn't have the simmered all day taste. The Pernil is amazing. Service was great and they kept water glasses full even after we had finished dinner and were talking. What an amazing spot at the beginning of the Mamaroneck strip of restaurants. Great way to start or end your night. Latin fusion cuisine with a warm, instagram-able decor. Live Latin jazz trio made the evening even more enjoyable. The food is exactly what you would expect with your Ropa Vieja on the menu along with some surprises as well. The City Island was a great change of pace with the fried shrimp and fish rice. The drinks are also very good especially the Sangria. Not too sweet...just right. We went here for Restaurant Week and it was decent. The portion sizes were really big. I had the cucumber bites, chuleta kan kan and the tres leche while my husband had the risotto balls, the churassco and the flan. The chuleta kan kan was good big that I brought home half for my lunch for the next day. Both appetizers and desserts were good. The entrées were cooked well, but was missing something. The menu looked interesting so we decided to eat at this place. It's a nice quaint spot and in addition to the regular menu they had a restaurant week menu offering 3 courses. The margaritas were a little in the sweet side even though I ordered a skinny but still good. I ordered for the restaurant week menu but there was a mixup because 20 minutes after I ordered the waiter came back to let me know there was a mistake - that I had ordered 2 entrees which I hadn't realized because it was not clearly indicated on the menu. It was a really long wait for food and I ended up with a Latin roll (the entree) which came out first and the sancocho came out second which was my appetizer. Since they had already started the sushi roll, that's what I got even though I would have preferred the steak- churrasco. The food was tasty, very good flavor and tasted fresh. It was pretty quiet on a Wednesday evening so the noise level was perfect for conversation. The music was good and the art on the walls gave the place some character. read more

I came here for the first time to celebrate my birthday. A special shout-out to Augusto & Bruno. ESPECIALLY BRUNO. He made us feel welcomed from the very beginning! The customer service and hospitality provided was A1! (This is coming from someone who is in the industry). The food was amazing. I loved their honey Serrano shrimp and the corn risotto was surprising that it was not creamy but excellent in texture and once i added some tomatillo suave i ate all of it happily. It could use a little more spice, that is mot only comment. The honey brussel sprouts and amazing also. But all in all the chicken enchilada was so good and different than a typical restaurant.
