Basque serves amazing food. Their tapas is uniformly delicious. The paella compares favorably to Spain itself. The space is intimate but there is often a wait on the weekends. The staff are very friendly. Basque cheesecake wonderful.

I finally found a true authentic tapas restaurant! The dishes reminded me of my trip to Spain. The fellow patrons were so friendly and everyone is always recommending dishes to each other at different tables. I came to the Tarrytown location because Piermont doesn't have the fried eggplant (my favorite)! The menu is large and I definitely need multiple visits so I can try everything. We went on a Friday night and the restaurant fills up shortly after opening at 5pm. Plan accordingly.

We came on a Saturday night and had to wait an hour for a table but the wait was definitely worth it! Everything we had to eat was delicious and the paella reminded me of being back in Spain! We will definitely be back to try more of their tapas and other paellas.

Just recently had a date with myself and took a ride to Tarrytown, NY- Basque Tapas was my destination. A friend from work recommended and it did not disappoint. I entered a lively energy with a feel of town but with a lot of personality. The place was busy and I join the line waiting to be seated. The staff was friendly and jovial. I chose to sit at the bar where I met a lovely couple as well as Marino the person in charge of the bar- very friendly, respectful and sweet. While I chatted with the couple I ordered eggplants- simple but delish tapas serving of lightly battered sticks of eggplant with drizzles of honey. I also ordered the red sangria which was great. I wanted to try something else so I ordered the chorizos with sweet peppers-very savory sizzling slices. I was very amazed at how quickly the food was placed before me- just a few minutes after ordering. I saw so many other options from their tapas menu and their entrees that I would love to try the next time I visit. I can't wait to go back!

What can I say. Its our go to place since the beginning. We've never been disappointed with the food, service and ambiance. We were there two days ago

Came here during a guys night and I thought everything was exceptional. The restaurant is very busy so I definitely suggest making reservations ahead of time. Luckily we made reservations so when we arrived our table was ready. The place is medium sized, I would saying about 20-30 tables. The atmosphere makes it seem homey like you can sit for hours. Full bar. The restaurant specializes in tapas so be prepared to share small plates. If that's not your thing they do have other plates that aren't sharing. Service was great. We actually got to know our waiter and where's he from. Nice to connect with others who are willing to connect. Food was great. The tapas menu wasn't extremely long so we found a few dishes that we liked and we kept ordering the same stuff. Would definitely recommend this place, however, if you're going with a large group opt out on ordering tapas.

My friend and I come here every chance we get to once we're in the area! Some of these pictures are from last year I'm including them in this review as my feelings don't change about this place. Food is delicious. So many flavors with every bite. My favorite was the steak salad. I've never had a salad be so filling and with a generous portion of steak. I will definitely be ordering this again. I am a huge fan of this place the only downside is that you cannot make a reservations for small parties. My friend and I tend to go mid week for dinner so we get lucky but I cannot speak for weekend nights.

Terrific dining experience from start to finish. Arrive early if you want to avoid a long wait. The meal was awesome. We had the house salad, patatas with ham and manchego, burrata, and two different paellas - the seafood and the surf and turf. We finished with the basque cheesecake, which was delicious but not a true basque cheesecake. As amazing as everything was, I'd be tempted to try something new next time.

Basque Tapas Bar is not new to me - I had initially discovered them a couple years ago when I visited their other location in Piermont and had an excellent experiences. I quickly learned of this location in Tarrytown, and made it my intention to check them out. That time came the other night when my dad chose Basque to celebrate his birthday; needless to say I was excited, so off we went. The Basque in Tarrytown is located on Main St in the thick of the village's commercial area. It's not a huge restaurant but they have more space than their Piermont location; the main room houses the bar and a few tables, and there are a couple of side rooms as well plus a room in the back (where we were seated). The decor was subtle - mostly a bright color scheme with splashes of color and some art on the walls. Basque is the real deal - not only does it smell amazing the moment you walk in, but they have the Certified Quality Restaurants from Spain credential. The star of the menu are tapas and paella, though they also have some meat and cheese boards, a selection of soups and salads, and some large format dishes. But first, a drink - the red sangria was really good and not overly sweet. After browsing the menu, we decided to split a bunch of tapas, a meat and cheese board, and order a paella. For the tapas we got the shrimp with garlic sauce, ham croquettes, chorizo, patatas bravas, lamb chops, fried Manchego cheese, fried eggplant, and filet mignon tips. All of the dishes were delicious - I really couldn't find fault to any, though the biggest standouts for me were the shrimp and the beef tips. The shrimp was seasoned really well and doused in garlic (no problem for me), and the beef was really tender and paired with vinegar peppers which added a good level of spice. For a board we got the Iberico ham and mixed cheeses - this was good as well. They were generous with the portions and the flavors worked well together. Finally, for the paella we decided to get the surf and turf. In addition to the rice base, it contained beef strips, mini lobster tails, scallops, tomato, and onion sofrito. This was really good - since we were a party of six, we got the size that feeds four to five people and even at that the portion was more than enough for all of us. While the rice was a smidge overcooked, the positives of the dish outweighed it. We opted for dessert, and I got the graham cracker gelato which was excellent; the flavor was on point and contained little graham bits which added to the texture. Service was great - everyone was friendly, food came out at a good pace, and the operations were super efficient; they're a well-oiled machine. Overall, I had an excellent experience at Basque - the food and service were top-drawer and I wouldn't hesitate to return for another meal.

One of the best Spanish restaurants in NY. The paella is a must order. Loved the selection of tapas. Can't wait to go back.

Visited Basque Tapas Bar in Tarrytown recently with a colleague. It had been on my radar for a while, but for whatever reason I didn't make it there...especially while dining solo. Just needed a nudge! So, he chose the place and we had an absolutely wonderful meal. We decided to share: ordered the empanadas as an appetizer and the seafood paella as our main course. The paella was supposed to ONLY be for two people, but it could have easily fed a family of 12! (Ok... slight exaggeration, but you get the point....the portion was huge.) note: there is an option for four...I can only imagine how much food that is. Even though the portion was gigantic, we did quite a good job on polishing more than 80% of it off. The seafood was fresh and delicious while the rice was cooked perfectly. This was one of the best paella dishes I've had in a long time. The empanadas were also fantastic. My colleague had an adult beverage: one of their sangria choices and I had iced tea. Service was super friendly and really efficient. The table next to us ordered a bunch of different tapas items that I got to take a quick peek at. My experience with many other small plate restaurants is that the portions are really small, but even the small plates are pretty generous. Plenty of options for gluten-free and other dietary restrictions. It's right on Main Street in Tarrytown so you'll need to find street parking. Check it out!

Excellent food and service! We started with pitcher of sangria ordered appetizers- eggplant & artichokes Plus shrimp salad Main dish we shared seafood paella for two. Plenty of food for three. Saturday Suggest go before 5pm, they get busy after. Groups of five can book a reservation.

We're a local family that made it a point to come to dinner here at least once a month but our last visit was the last nail in the coffin. The younger waitress has never once smiled and has is always been all business but at least she doesn't bully and antagonize her tables. The chef was gruff, rude, and treated us noticeably different from all of the tables. When he brought out our bottle of wine and I said "yay that looks great!" he paused, gave me a dirty look, and said "you're determined not to have a good time, aren't you?"-- despite this being the first thing I said to him and his waitstaff directly beyond our order. Shocked, and not wanting to ruin the dinner for my dining companion, I brushed it off, but promised myself I would not return. The chef makes it a habit to complain about how busy he is, how understaffed he is, but also how long people take at tables-- and also seemingly makes arbitrary decisions about who and what he takes offense to. If the chef stays in the kitchen and gets waitstaff that understand what providing good customer service for -everyone- looks like, we'll be back, but at this rate and reading other reviews it looks like pigs will fly before that happens!

Wine by the glass is steep too. That said, some things feel like a much better value. Our "half" pitcher of sangria basically came in a full-sized pitcher filled more than halfway and tasted great. Plenty for two. A lot of the menu is also easily shareable. We split the beet salad and it was big... enough for a couple. Fresh, flavorful and satisfying. Then we shared the paella Valenciana, another huge portion loaded with fatty chorizo, chicken, shrimp, scallops, clams and mussels in flavorful saffron rice. Really balanced ratio of seafood, meat and rice instead of just being a giant pile of filler. Btw -- it gets friggin loud in here. Families with kids, couples, groups of friends, older folks... the whole place was buzzing. Pretty wild atmosphere. I'm also not a fan of places where the waiter clears appetizer plates but deliberately leaves the dirty fork sitting on the table for the next course. Bleh.
