It was a pleasant surprise to learn that Tarry Tavern shares the same owner as its neighbor Eatarry, a great breakfast cafe. Tarry Tavern had a rustic and cozy atmosphere with beautiful and vibrant dishes that were equally as delicious as they were pleasing to the eyes. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. A great neighborhood dining option. However, there is something about food and price worth mentioning. The food was really delicious, but confusing to see a hand written check with prices that do not correspond to the prices on their menu (both online menu and physical menu in restaurant). An unfortunate practice here to an otherwise great meal.

Lovely place great bartender the hostess was a tad tough I thought it was me at first; but she gave me a menu I said I'd like to order a drink she said their a drinks on the menu I replied I know what I'd like already; well you'll have to wait until the bartender gets back ok... then the bartender took our orders brought the wrong item we told the hostess she said you must be wrong ; when the bartender returned he said he'd gotten it wrong...we weren't upset but her answer was off putting... kinda makes you think with such wonderful good food they serve why us she so grumpy .

I was in Tarrytown for a work trip for the first time in a little over two years. I had a couple of colleagues also staying in the area, so Yelp helped me pick a place for dinner. Score! Lovely ambience, friendly staff and delicious food. It happened to be St. Patrick's Day and there was also a (music) show just up the street. When I made the reservation, they asked me if we were going to the show....(assuming they were making sure we wouldn't be late). The restaurant was almost completely full when we arrived but quickly emptied out because most of the patrons were heading to to Tarrytown Music Hall. We all started with a bowl of soup...two of us had butternut squash soup and one had New England clam chowder. The bread in the basket was delicious and we all loved our soups. They had a special for St. Patrick's Day so two out of the three of us had the corned beef and raved about it. I had the tuna tartare with purple rice...delicious! The dessert menu looked wonderful but we all refrained. I will definitely dine here again.

So my partner and I came here on a late Sunday evening. The staff were absolutely nice, professional and respectful. The interior was gorgeous. They have a very nice bar. They started off with some bread and butter. The bread was delicious. Our drinks were also very very good! Definitely not sweet or too strong. It was perfect. The food...WOW! It felt very homey-it felt just right. The portions were great. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. We came late Easter night and they did not rush us or anything. We had a really great time. I would definitely come back here! And recommend anyone to come here as well. They are LGBTQ friendly-if it matters to anyone.

Excellent location and diverse eating options. They were very accommodating for my sister who customized her cavatelli. Good drinks and desserts. Can get rather loud, and had to track down our server, yet a great time had by all!

Honestly and truly, I was so shocked that how good the food was here. Like really shocked. Shocked to my damn core! Wow, these flavors were amazing. I had octopus to start and it reminded me of the octopus I had when I was in Barcelona, so fresh with just the right amount of citrus taste to it. And for my entrée, I had tuna and that was so phenomenal. I had it raw and it came out so soft and fresh and well seasoned. I'm from New York City so it was really a shock to come up north and find food just as good if not better than places in Manhattan. I highly recommend this place!

Service was immediate with no reservation. The server immediately created us and came around as he watched our table closely. Food was delicious, colorful, and flavorful. The Bellini was so good I ended up getting two. The only thing that was depressing was the butternut squash soup. It was too liquid and not enough flavor.

It was a nice outside patio feeling. The tuna tartare was not good. It was not fresh. But the wine was exquisite and the service was very friendly.

My husband went with the à la carte French toast accompanied with a fresh berry compote and homemade whip cream. The bread was a house-made challah bread . He said it was the best he's French toast he's ever had. Served with real maple syrup, which made it even better. The Bloody Marys were fantastic--perfectly spicy, with a noticeable kick of horseradish. The Bellini was just as delicious, and the coffee was served hot and full of flavor. I opted for the prix fixe menu . It was difficult to choose as there were many options to choose from. I decided on the mushroom risotto as a first course which was outstanding--perfectly creamy risotto topped either mushrooms and a delicate touch of annato oil that brought everything together beautifully. For my main course again, many options that I could've went with, but decided on the eggs Benedict with pork belly, and it was absolutely delicious. The eggs were poached perfectly, and the hollandaise sauce was rich and flavorful. The country, potatoes, sautéed with onions and red peppers, were so tasty, and the side salad with dressing was light and refreshing. I also loved that there were several protein options you could've chose from to go on top of the English muffin beneath the poached eggs. We were too full to enjoy dessert there, but we took it home--an apple cheesecake dress with caramel sauce, and that same homemade whipped cream . Since we were taking it home, we forgo'd the vanilla ice cream which also came with this dessert . The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive--water glasses were refilled without asking, and plates were cleared promptly. The space also features a beautiful large bar and an outdoor patio, which I can't wait to come back and enjoy. Lots of parking in the surrounding and immediate areas and free on Sundays.

The menu looked amazing and we're excited but we're worried we weren't dressed appropriately, Caroline insured us we woke fit in just fine. I personally love to dine at the bar when possible especially with a great bartender like Izzy. We were the first ones there by accident which can feel funny but Izzy was so warm and welcoming and very eager to meet us and tell us about the epic menu and the show stopping desserts. We told Izzy our drink preferences and he nailed it each drink. We started with a dozen oysters that were incredible and shocked perfectly. Then followed that with the bone marrow which had a tasteful amount of chimichurri sauce and a side of crunchy salt to use for your liking. It was delicious! We were temped to next get the octopus but needed room for the "bar only specials" which is a brilliant idea very unique. It was a wagu blend cheese burger with arugula and a delicious black garlic spread and perfectly cooked fries. Perfect for sharing! A dinner isn't complete without an espresso martini! I highly recommend this place to any food enthusiast and fan of wine, spirits and excellent desserts. Lastly the decor was also amazing. The chef's not only designs top notch desserts he also did the wood work art along the bar. I also loved the pictures of all the people in the back of the restaurant over the course of there decades of business. Lastly the history is incredible it use to be the village hall and jailhouse! They incorporated the jail into a wine cellar that seats two people for a fun drink before or after dinner. Highly give this place a 10 out of 10 for excellent food, drink, service and vibes! The care and detail in everything presented to the diner are so thoughtful. The drinks deserve just as much praise and are beautifully crafted. If you're lucky enough to visit on a night when Izzy is behind the bar, consider yourself fortunate. He's not only a "DJ" of cocktails, but warm, friendly, and fun to be around. Honestly, sitting at the bar is just as good as, if not better than, a seat in the dining room. We travel from Manhattan just to come here, and Hudson House never disappoints.
