I've gone there twice before but the line was out the door so never made it inside. Decided to go a little later today and yes there were seats available. It only has about 12 counter seats, no tables. It's a dive but in a good way. I had the garlic shrimp with salad. Nice portions & the man knows how to cook those shrimp - tender, they almost melt in your mouth. It's $, house salad with avocado & garlic shrimp $14 - will not break the bank. I'd forgotten how much I loved the old Corona lunch turned Ambar Restaurant and recently rediscovered it while in the area craving Dominican food. Great new location with parking and tables instead of the old counter service. I was informed they only serve Sancocho on Monday and Wed. So we had the seafood soup and Oxtail stew instead. The seafood soup came with big pieces of lobster in the shell and was served with a lobster cracker. There was tons of shellfish and seafood as well in a rich delicous soup. The oxtail was divine. Delicious authentic Dominican food! This place is tucked away on a narrow side street in Sleepy Hollow. It's a small restaurant but the food and service was great! I ordered takeout from here and they did not disappoint with the portions. I got the oxtail stew with rice, red beans and a side of sweet plantains and the flavor was perfect, very savory and the oxtail was a good size as well. I also got one order of the rib stew with rice and beans and all together it was a great price. I definitely expected paying more for the amount I got but I was completely thrown off, they are very honest with their pricing which I love. Second time coming and equally as spectacular. My co-worker and I both got the fries pork chop dish from the lunch specials. We called ahead because our lunch is a limited time and it takes us about 15 min to get there. By the time we sat down our food came out. The pork was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The plantains and rice were well cooked. All in all a perfectly sized lunch. The meal price was very inexpensive costing $17 for both of our dishes combined.
