Apple butternut bread pudding

WOW! To think we almost turned around to leave. From the pics on Yelp we thought it was more upscale but it's very casual! You place your order then find a table and they bring it to you! After reviewing the menu we decided to stay and give it a go! SO GLAD WE DID! I had the butternut squash soup and Oh My was it delicious! A very generous serving creamy thick and slightly sweet topped with a swirl of cream and toasted pumpkin seeds! You could taste the ginger but it was not offensive! I paired it with the Fried Oyster Po Boy - home run on taste again! Stacked high with lightly battered very well seasoned oyster mushrooms on a hearty bun topped with lettuce - house made pickles- lettuce- and spicy aioli - THIS SANDWICH WAS THE BOMB! My hubby enjoyed his Salmon Burger topped with a basil aioli along with other trimmings! I had a nice Strawberry Hibiscus Tea/Lemonade it was perfect by my taste as no added sugar which I prefer! We finished it off by sharing a butternut apple bread pudding with caramel sauce! Boy was it good. Again not sickly sweet just right - rich caramel and huge chunks of apple. The staff is very friendly even checking to ensure nothing had nuts due to my allergies and the place is organic feeling and they locally source. It's small with only 7-8 tables but it was not crowded at the time we arrived. Seems like they do a good book of carry out orders!

Grassroots kitchen was a good way to kickstart our Tarrytown weekend. Healthy options all around. From drinks, soups, meals - something for everyone who views the menu. Comfortable and small. Spacious for a bigger group towards the back or a few seats at the front.

Fantastic venue. I wish there was something like this in every city. Delicious offerings with excellent service. Grass Roots Kitchen in Tarrytown is a casual eatery associated with the Sweet Grass Grill and Tomatillo. You can go order at the front desk and then sit for your food. We had some amazing chocolate chia pudding, cookies, buckwheat pancakes (my favorite), and kombucha (terrible nutritional information suggesting that there are less carbs than sugar), and coconut chocolate bites. I highly recommend. Explore their website's menu.

Delicious vegan options. We had the buffalo cauliflower bowl and Philly burrito. Would absolutely stop here for plant based options

Remembered this place was great so gave it another try while I was in the area. Was craving a cheese burger when I saw the menu. I also ordered a smoothie. The smoothie came out quickly, but the service for the food was very slow. Though my friend who ordered after me got his food quickly. I saw my cheese burger and assumed it was mine, waiting to be called out, but I saw the person at the counter keep looking at the tickets and food, and organizing it but not quite calling names. I should've just asked but didn't want to assume that it was mine. She did call out my name after 10 minutes. I was genuinely confused because she was standing there, looking at the tickets and saw my burger but didn't say my name earlier. I'd assume if orders are ready that you'd want to call them out shortly after they're done...

4.5, cute stop for breakfast or lunch with healthier and seasonal breakfast and lunch options This is a great spot for bikers because they have outdoor seating with plenty of room for bikes. A nice escape from the hustle of the Main Street area. While they have a decent number of vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options (salad, soup, breakfast), they also have grassfed beef burgers, chicken and fish. They also have smoothies and juices. I liked the veggie wrap, with the variety of filling. Not a cheap place but you also don't feel yucky after eating their foods.

Great restaurant with farm-to-table type food that is surprisingly vegan-friendly. I ordered one of the vegan pastas and really enjoyed it.

Korean bbq wrap
Sally A.

You go to the counter and place your order, then they'll bring you your food. You get your own water, utensils, condiments, and water. The service is fast. I ordered the Korean bbq tofu wrap. It was good, but kind of tasted tasted like scrambled eggs with kale... there was no bbq taste at all... truly a breakfast burrito..

Sunday prix fixe brunch was an amazing experience--$44.95 for a three-course meal (appetizer,…read moreentrée, and dessert) is such a great deal given the quality and quantity of food with each course z The restaurant interior is stunning, with beautiful views overlooking the Hudson River. My husband went with the à la carte French toast accompanied with a fresh berry compote and homemade whip cream. The bread was a house-made challah bread . He said it was the best he's French toast he's ever had. Served with real maple syrup, which made it even better. The Bloody Marys were fantastic--perfectly spicy, with a noticeable kick of horseradish. The Bellini was just as delicious, and the coffee was served hot and full of flavor. I opted for the prix fixe menu . It was difficult to choose as there were many options to choose from. I decided on the mushroom risotto as a first course which was outstanding--perfectly creamy risotto topped either mushrooms and a delicate touch of annato oil that brought everything together beautifully. For my main course again, many options that I could've went with, but decided on the eggs Benedict with pork belly, and it was absolutely delicious. The eggs were poached perfectly, and the hollandaise sauce was rich and flavorful. The country, potatoes, sautéed with onions and red peppers, were so tasty, and the side salad with dressing was light and refreshing. I also loved that there were several protein options you could've chose from to go on top of the English muffin beneath the poached eggs. We were too full to enjoy dessert there, but we took it home--an apple cheesecake dress with caramel sauce, and that same homemade whipped cream . Since we were taking it home, we forgo'd the vanilla ice cream which also came with this dessert . The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive--water glasses were refilled without asking, and plates were cleared promptly. The space also features a beautiful large bar and an outdoor patio, which I can't wait to come back and enjoy. Lots of parking in the surrounding and immediate areas and free on Sundays.

The pro tip here is to get a pound of the candied pecans to take home with you, they are life affirming. Are you disappointed by the dearth of decent cheese in the United States? Well Mint has a panoply of incredible cheeses from Europe and the charcuterie and cheese plate gives you an almost indecent amount of cured meats and stunning cheeses with freshly toasted baguette and a generous portion of Membrillo for a very reasonable (in today's economy) $29. You might be tempted by the Moroccan Chicken, and you should be, it is delicious but for me they do a really amazing Steak Frites that is cooked to perfection. I ordered mine "à point" or medium rare and it was absolutely as advertised. My husband had the Cuban on gluten free bread and was very happy with it. The ambience of the restaurant is really nice, it is very warm and inviting with cool decoration and big vats of marinated olives and other delicious mezze, or Kamio to be nationally accurate. Check out the cheese selection in my photos, it really is S tier.

The restaurant - like most spots in Tarrytown on a night when there's a show at Tarrytown Music Hall - was bustling when we arrived, and we were promptly shown to our reserved seats. I love the array of cheeses and olives in the restaurant's "general store" in the front of the house. We ordered a round of classic drinks (mojito, whiskey sour, gin and tonic, Malibu and pineapple juice - we're not big drinkers) and each drink was on point and not overly heavy on the liquor, which I appreciate. We weren't famished, so we all ordered burgers and sandwiches, which were quite good, especially my Cubano I want to return to try some entrees - like the butternut squash risotto - which looked interesting and promising! But the star of this evening was their TRUFFLE FRIES! These were infused with truffle oil, fried to perfection, and so, so delicious! We actually ordered more when the servings we were sharing weren't enough. I would return JUST for those. We shared a bread pudding, which was also lovely and light, topped with a scoop of creamy and not cloyingly sweet vanilla gelato. Overall, a great meal, with a friendly and relaxed vibe. I'll be back.

The menu looked amazing and we're excited but we're worried we weren't dressed appropriately, Caroline insured us we woke fit in just fine. I personally love to dine at the bar when possible especially with a great bartender like Izzy. We were the first ones there by accident which can feel funny but Izzy was so warm and welcoming and very eager to meet us and tell us about the epic menu and the show stopping desserts. We told Izzy our drink preferences and he nailed it each drink. We started with a dozen oysters that were incredible and shocked perfectly. Then followed that with the bone marrow which had a tasteful amount of chimichurri sauce and a side of crunchy salt to use for your liking. It was delicious! We were temped to next get the octopus but needed room for the "bar only specials" which is a brilliant idea very unique. It was a wagu blend cheese burger with arugula and a delicious black garlic spread and perfectly cooked fries. Perfect for sharing! A dinner isn't complete without an espresso martini! I highly recommend this place to any food enthusiast and fan of wine, spirits and excellent desserts. Lastly the decor was also amazing. The chef's not only designs top notch desserts he also did the wood work art along the bar. I also loved the pictures of all the people in the back of the restaurant over the course of there decades of business. Lastly the history is incredible it use to be the village hall and jailhouse! They incorporated the jail into a wine cellar that seats two people for a fun drink before or after dinner. Highly give this place a 10 out of 10 for excellent food, drink, service and vibes! The care and detail in everything presented to the diner are so thoughtful. The drinks deserve just as much praise and are beautifully crafted. If you're lucky enough to visit on a night when Izzy is behind the bar, consider yourself fortunate. He's not only a "DJ" of cocktails, but warm, friendly, and fun to be around. Honestly, sitting at the bar is just as good as, if not better than, a seat in the dining room. We travel from Manhattan just to come here, and Hudson House never disappoints. Next-door to the main cafeteria, still on the property, is a very swanky exclusive looking hall with a very classy bar. After our tour and lunch, we capped our visit with a drink each.
