My friends and I enjoy a beautiful afternoon lunch. Food was enjoyed by all and the atmosphere and service was excellent

Server: Jorge Bartender: Carlos The restaurant sits downhill on the water from the central town. When you walk in, the decor is very beautiful in a Lloyd Wright type of design. Lots of glass and wood. Of course there is the view, which the massive windows capitalize upon. The water and tree line beyond are extremely stunning. The first member of the staff was Carlos, fortunately. I had arrived early and decided to spend my time Journaling at the bar. He did everything right, and was "hospitable" on top of that. Between the atmosphere and the jovial nature of the bartender, I initially thought this would be a great place to come when visiting my friend up here. My friend arrived and we caught up on his trip overseas. Carlos offered a drink and provided a good alternative when the tap wasn't working for the first choice. Knowing his stock was points for Carlos. Eventually we decided to sit. We were led outdoors to a heavenly spot. If you've been here at night, you have to try the scenery during the day. Then Jorge came to our table, and brought whatever tension he had to our table and the subsequent meal. Crap. My friend ordered first and you could tell his surprise at the waiter's impatience. I felt it myself afterwards. The rest of the staff seemed to understand the "hospitality" part of the hospitality industry. The octopus was a bit chewy and one note (lacking complexity of flavor). Not bad, but nothing spectacular in competition. The Portuguese Pork Chop sandwich didn't suffer from the same monotone flavor pallette. It was a superb symphony of tastes and textures, tender and crunchy and salty and sweet. The four is for the fly in the ointment. When I get together with others, I want to maintain the positive energy between us without worrying about negativity. There are other spots in Dobbs Ferry where I know that will happen guaranteed. read more

I've been going to half moon with friends forever. Just had my birthday dinner in February, but the real vibe is when the weather is nice. It's an amazing place with an amazing view l, great food but even better cocktails. Honestly, it's a wonderful place just outside of the city. Service can be hit or miss, last time I was there I had to ask for bread and the waiter wasn't on top of it. My friend and I had a great time, but often had to flag down the waiter to ask for certain things. I think we would have ordered more if he had checked in more often. Nevertheless, that was this last time. It all depends on the waitstaff but generally this place is a great vibe. read more

A hundred of us met for dinner at Half Moon along the Hudson. The seafood focused menu is always delicious, service impeccable, and the atmosphere spectacular. Coming from Florida I was looking forward to seeing the change of season reflected in the foliage. It was beautiful outside, and I enjoyed sitting along the Hudson at the fire pits. Trays of Wines & appetizers were served & delicious, the brie & jam, grilled mushrooms & shrimp were tasty. The tables were filled with family style platters of salads, pitas, dips & olives. I chose this place to celebrate my birthday and I regret. it they not only humiliated me in front of my guest by accusing me of always having a problem with bill but also was barely around to serve us! My guest had to look for server Angel he barely came to our table!! when I complained to manger Will the next day he told me to take break from coming. a month later a friend who I introduced to half moon begged me to go; I said to her no! I'm not sure why this restaurant is rated so low but it is a gem. Beautiful views and great service, Mohammed and Maribel took great care of our table. Attentive and very knowledgeable of the menu the made the experience even better. The oysters we delicious, chorizo croquet was my fav but the yuca wasn't too shabby. The tomato anchovy toast was interesting. I think the grilled octopus was perfectly tender and paired well with the romesco. Overall experience was great and I would recommend. read more

A nice setting for a special occasion, with attentive service, relaxed atmosphere and pricey food (seafood, steak, etc), with a Hispanic twist. However, I'm not one for expensive places if the food isn't outstanding, and also just not the fancy schmancy kind of person. We've been wanting to try this place for awhile and finally got the chance on a Saturday evening. With a view of the Hudson and even the city in the distance, it is a picturesque spot to make memories. The space is well staffed, with many people milling around, and they make you feel well cared for. The menu is a mixture of seafood, steak, and tapas type things. Entrees are about $40-70, appetizers are around $20-30, and the tapas items are $5 but small. They had a few specials, one of which was a $68 steak social with bone marrow filled with cheese and corn, as well as guacamole and aioli sauce; with the caveat that I'm not a big fan of meat, I didn't think this was a special dish but i liked the concept. The flounder was breaded with a well-dressed salad; typically I don't like fried fish and now I remember why and for $46 and a pretty common fish, i want to be wow'ed. The calamari and croquette were fine too. I did enjoy the tiramisu ($15) but it didn't feel like the best ever per se. Yes they had a couple lobster dishes and other seafood like mussels and oysters. The space has a lot of windows, which makes sense given its proximity to the city. Parking was easy. Overall we had a nice time, but don't "need" to return for awhile. read more

Absolutely incredible. Great view. NYC and the Tappan Zee at the same spot. The food and drinks are incredible, especially the wings!! And the waitress we had was helpful and nice. Half Moon Hudson was Amazing! We ordered drinks, sparkling water, pork belly chicharron dish and bread. We were amazed at the speed in which these items got to the table. It was easily under 3 minutes. ....and they didn't water down the alcohol. I literally felt that one drink. The pork belly, guacamole and cilantro was perfect! For the entree my date went with the Lobster roll- and was not disappointed in the least, meanwhile I ordered the 14oz NY Strip and fries. I have to admit they cooked it to my specs and I have a new appreciation for the watercress and the bearnaise aiolo! For dessert we had the tiramisù. I wasn't surprised that they pulled that off too! Amazing! Literally the entrees came out in about 6 minutes- it was as if they knew what I was going to order. The cooks are on point. I had the chicken sandwich which I enjoyed & for desert we had the tres leche which was ok just very tart but without the fruit was good. I took off 1 star because of parking, people with reservations should have priority, and I was with my baby & was told to park all the way uphill. Quality place! I came here for my anniversary with my boyfriend and he surprised me with this pic of a restaurant. He said it was different back in the day when he went because it was primarily Italian food, but now it's changed and it's more Spanish food. Admittedly, I forgot to take a picture of our appetizer, but we had gotten a hummus platter and that was quite good. It came with hummus, tzatziki, and one other sauce I can't remember the name of it, but it was reddish (it was good). I then got the steak medium well , and it was honestly Bussin gurl. Even the side salad was fuegooo. And the fries were crispy goodness. For dessert, we got the moose cake to share because I was way too full at that point, and we ended up taking it home because we couldn't finish it, but it was so good too. For drinks, we ordered a white sangria and I'm absolutely getting that shit again because I was downing that sucker cause it was (dangerously) good. Don't worry, though, I wasn't driving and I only ended up having two lol but if there were more of us, I definitely would've gotten a pitcher. 5 stars, ya gurl will be back. Also, it's off the water! There's a promise: a sunset on the waterfront horizon, a fire roaring in the bar, boats parading around the river, and the grandeur of high ceilings. It's a beautiful spectacle, and you can wax romantic about the sunset views. But ultimately, the food is below-average and expensive. The fried fish was dredged in so much batter, there was uncooked raw flour surrounding a thin filet of fish. Powdery, pasty, raw batter. The ambiance is good but the food is mediocre. The filet didn't have the same consistency you would normally see with better cuts and it was a bit suspect. The fries were very good but everything else was average. One of the busboys that refilled the drinks was also a bit pushy at times and got annoyed if he didn't have a clear path to the tables at all times. Went for lunch this week with a friend and was so pleasantly surprised to have a wonderful experience. I have been here before and this time was exceptional. I had a shrimp entree special with asparagus and my friend has a scrimp entree with spinach. Both were delicious. I had the baked clams which were so good and friend had the fried calamari. The Great service matches the Great location. Beauty view and a must place to visit when summer weather permits. The calamari was excellent. The Mediterranean salad was supposed to be with romaine lettuce but it was served with iceberg lettuce. The cauliflower steak was tasty. All appetizers in general were satisfying. Cocktails are good. Food was amazing! They have a new chef who is very innovative. Everything we ate was delicious. The calamari was tender, not chewy. The salmon had an amazing sauce. The chicken sandwich was crispy and huge! Delicious drinks and the FPBC ice cream sandwich was out of this world (need at least 4 people to eat it). More importantly, every server we encountered was over the top nice! We sat outside and a sudden rain storm rolled in. People ran inside and the staff was extremely accommodating during the chaos. They were chill while figuring out which table was where. All in all, since I last visited in 2023, this restaurant has reached a whole new level. It's been a long time since I've had such bad service at a restaurant. It seemed like the waiter was annoyed we got seated in his area so purposely avoided us. It took someone 25 mins to come and even greet us at our table and that was to tell us the waiter would be with us shortly. Multiple times throughout our meal I had to ask other people for waiter for things because he was just MIA. Besides this the food was pretty average. I found a bunch of bones in my fish. Which is really disappointing when you spend over $300 on a meal. If the food was really good I probably wouldn't have minded how bad the service was. But you can't have both average food and bad service. The only really good part was the oyster and that's cuz they're not cooked. This was my first time here. Went here with my Girl and another couple. The ambiance of this place is very warm, comfortable and welcoming. They have a large fire pit in the center of the restaurant...with couches all around it, not too far from the bar. Very comfortable environment. The service was very kind, respectful and prompt. For dinner I had ordered Grilled Chicken Paillard which was excellent! My Girl got Seared Rare Tuna which was prepared perfectly! Our friends ordered Roasted Cauliflower Steak and Prime New York Strip Steak Frites. All were fantastic! We also ordered a few appetizers like a Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail and a couple Chicory & Apple Salads. Anyway...very good food, very fine service and very comfortable setting. We will be going back! Made a reservation on Saturday night and came here for brunch on Sunday morning when it first opened. There is a big parking lot and the restaurant has amazing views. The window/outdoor seats are first come first serve so making the first reservation of the day at 11a was a good choice. It was raining so the outdoor seating was closed but sitting by the window you are super close to the water, which was very nice. The tapas were very good, portions are extremely small, so keep in mind to order a bunch if you are interested in tapas. The flavors were great, pleasantly surprised by the mix of flavors. Our main courses were chicken and waffle and french toast. We loved the french toast, it was close to one of the best ones we've had. The chicken and waffle had lots of breading on the chicken and I wish there was more meat than breading but overall flavor and presentation was good. This is super close to our apartment and a wonderful place for brunch, would definitely be visiting again! read more

View & Atmosphere: 10 The sunset and waterfront view is gorgeous. Food: 7.5 the buns on my Lobster Roll came burnt, but they were quick to give me a new one. Service: 10 The staff were very courteous and almost apologetic & subservient. Decor: 10 both indoor & outdoor have wonderful atmosphere. Outdoor tables have flame in the middle to keep you warm. Overall: This is a perfect place for date night. They also have a waterfront park for a romatic walk. One of the best waterfront restaurants I have seen in NY, NJ area.
