Whenever I'm in the mood for REALLY good Italian this is where I think of first. The owner is super awesome and served us generously. I love that they have caipirinhas I just wish it was with traditional Brazilian cachaça, but that's just such a minor point. Everything is always delicious and quickly prepared by their amazing chef. Came in here on st Patrick's day and were a little shocked we were one of only two other groups here...sat down at the bar and ordered. The margarita pizza was pretty good but we were a little disappointed that the goat cheese ravioli we ordered was about $10 and only served four pieces of ravioli. Our drinks were really good which is what's keeping this at four stars. The server though was super inattentive to us even though there were hardly any patrons at the bar. This place is absolutely one of Denver's hidden gems. We were blown away by the hospitality we received by Zach the owner of this Italian restaurant/bar. From the moment you step foot into this establishment you are taken back in history. This building holds many hidden stories and secrets within its walls including its delicious cocktails and recipes. Chef Luke prepared a flavorful meal. We enjoyed the artichoke dip along with the fried ravioli. As a main course we enjoyed the Shrimp Scampi Diablo and the Seared Salmon Risotto. These two dishes were packed with flavor! For Dessert we enjoyed the delicious, rich Mint Chocolate Truffle Cheesecake. The atmosphere of this restaurant is also a bonus to the delicious food served here. We suggest that prior to your visit you make a reservation because weekends tend to get busy. This is the perfect date night as well as family night out location. Paid $9 for the saddest Caesar salad I've ever seen. For that amount you should see quality ingredients and it was just shredded Parmesan cheese (that definitely came from a bag), a few tiny little croutons, and some wilted romaine. Chicken parm was gray, and did not look like dark meat, it honestly just looked gray. I was pretty disappointed and didn't even eat it. The sauce is interesting. I'm not sure how I feel about it because it's almost chef boyardee like in texture. It wasn't horrible though. Unfortunately, I will probably not eat here again. Went here with a Groupon so didn't know much about the place. Walked in to a small, cozy joint with a few patrons. Then the delicious smell hit us. I dropped by during "happy hour" after work in order to check the time of the upcoming open mic that night. The place was completely empty, except for the bartender, who refused to greet me in any way and stared me down unsmilingly as I walked up to the bar. When I asked about the open mic, the bartender was very reluctant to give me any info, and seem weirded out about the prospect of me actually playing an instrument. I returned later at the time appointed for the open mic, only to find the place nearly empty (there were two whole people now), the PA for the open mic still not set up, and no one there to play. The two stars are for the appearance of the place, which is really cool. Too bad the service was so unfriendly. Maybe if I'd been a hot girl I would have been treated like a customer. read more

I went for a work happy hour and was not disappointed. They managed the large crowd with ease- multiple credit cards to juggle, etc. The bartender remembered my order and the wine pour was generous. The space is large and there is a downstairs with ample seating- although we stayed upstairs. I only had spinach dip but will return to try the rest of the menu. The dip was fantastic and I was glad I read yelp reviews ahead of time (and ordered it based on the reviews)! Will return ASAP for the entire dinner experience. We ordered flatbread pizza $5, wings 5, meatballs 6, carbonara 14, salmon 16, antipasto 8. I thought it was all so-so. Salmon was below average -- a small 4 oz portion of salmon and no flavoring at all on either the fish or the small scoop of risotto. Did not like the sweet giardiniera vegetables in the antipasto. Wings and meatballs were fine. Sevice was good. This is not a place to come for an extraordinary meal or big portions but a place you come because you have a coupon and then you realize maybe coupons aren't worth it. read more

The staff were great very friendly. The pastry chef Jackie made the most AMAZING and delicious two tier espresso ganache cake. The chefs made delicious flat bread pizza. They also have a mixologist on staff who made a very scrumptious birthday signature drink called cy21. The atmosphere downstairs was perfect! I'm definitely going back!! We were welcomed with open arms and treated like all other patrons in the place. What a great feeling! Amazing customer service, good happy hour deals (that we were able to take advantage of even though we were using a voucher- again great customer service), and really good quality food makes me want to come back to this place every time I visit Denver! For the food- we got the caprese appetizer. The fresh mozzarella was out of this world- and I have lived in Italy and the one at Bar Red ranks high on the list due to the mozzarella. I have seen the coming soon sign for months every time I leave court and head back to the office. When I saw that it was finally opened I had to check it out. Stopped in after leaving the office with some coworkers. Greeted by the bartender as we entered and the wait staff was very friendly as well. I ordered the Flat Iron Steak Sandwich which was great. The bread was very soft and fresh. The steak was top notch, will definitely be having that again. They have a great cocktail selection not too many beers on tap but had a good craft beer.
