2nd time visiting and got the same thing as last time. It did not disappoint. The cashew queso is soooo unique and tastes like the real thing!!! Love the nachos. The service is always kind and pretty fast. You can tell food is made to order. The wrap is so delicious, I could just eat the bread and salad all day because its so good. Now that its warmer they have the windows open and you can sit to look out while you eat.

Found myself in a rarely-visited part of town with 2 vegan friends, and located Vital Root here on Yelp. It was a terrific choice for all of us. At 11 on a Wednesday, the patrons were sparse and the employees efficient and kind. We ordered Nachos, a Mission Bowl, and a Burger--all vegan and all delicious and freshly prepared. It wasn't noisy, and the vibe was pleasant and relaxed. Orders are placed and paid at a counter, then food delivered. There's ample seating inside, and even more on a lovely patio. The restroom is gender-inclusive. There are a few steps I could not avoid, awkward with my rollator. We enjoyed our meals very much, and were pleased to experience Vital Root. Now if there were only a store on the south side of metro Denver so we could visit more often.

This place was there on my brunch list but instead we went there to grab coffee and snacks in the afternoon and almost regretted why dint I go for brunch. There was an elaborate menu we ordered the yummiest smoothie that had cocoa tahini with coconut milk. SO GOOD! My daughter wanted to have beetroot brownies so we had that. It was good. The third thing we ordered was taco that was great too. Ambiance was chill and relax and staff was super sweet.

Service is a 10/10! Indoor outdoor setting options. Good for intimate dates or large groups. Casual counter ordering with water station . Heavy vegetarian options but also vegan friendly. I was torn on what to order and landed on the pad-Thai. I sadly hated my pad-Thai as the sauce was too sweet (for my preference). Also, not exactly pad-Thai sauce or traditional noodles, either. My smoothie was good. Nachos were also good. Loved the cashew queso cheese!!! Now -- My absolute favorite I'd order over and over again was the vegan raw Cinnamon Rolls!!!! We'd love to come back again!

The good: -Banh mi breakfast tacos were really good (non-vegan dish). -Service was super friendly and attentive. -Nice ambiance for a more casual counter order restaurant. The not so good: -Banh mi breakfast tacos were pretty dang spendy for just two :) -Pad thai was not very good. Tasted more like a sweet and sour noodle stir fry. Would not recommend.

Having recently tried El five and Root down, I figured oh if this is part of the same ownership group it must be great. The idea of having a healthy, pay at the counter but aesthetically pleasing ambiance on Tennyson seems like it would be a clear hit. However, the only thing was decent was the sweet potato fries. The pad Thai was far too sweet and saucy, to me it just tasted like a really poorly made pad Thai with limited distinct qualities. The Turkish version eggs on paper sound like they would be good however they also fell short of my expectations. With so much good food in Denver this place wouldn't be on my list.

Orange tofu bowl. $16+ for a medium-sized meal that was so sweet, it could pass for dessert. No acidity, nor umami to balance the flavors.

This is my favorite spot because I have so many dietary needs. However, I felt terrible sending the orange tofu bowl back today because it was so incredibly sweet it could pass for dessert. They offered to switch it out for my favorite falafel wrap. Thank goodness. I will keep coming back to Vital Root because the service is excellent.

Absolutely love Vital Root. I've gone 2x this week because I wanted to try more menu items. Bahn mi tacos are still a favorite, but I highly recommend the vegan pozole with tofu/avocado added and the fried oyster mushrooms. Absolutely adored the fried oyster mushrooms and will order it every time I return now.

Enjoyed the Breakfast Burrito Deal for $9. Ordered it vegan with tortilla made with whole wheat and spinach. Included drip coffee, which I got with almond milk. Weather was just right, so I sat in the patio, overlooking the sidewalk as people walked by. Service was friendly and prompt. Atmosphere was casual and relaxed.

It was a cute restaurant with great tasting food and marvelous servers who were concerned over my celiac disease I loved that the restaurant had 2 places to go and order with humor! The one we choose was the one you could speak with a human. I chose that one because of my medical condition. The staff was very knowledgeable about the disease and had some recommendations. I was an active foodie before my diagnosis and I wanted to still have great food but now it has to be safe. The food was fantastic. I had fish and chicken tacos. The tacos were soft and chewy with delicious sauce. The spicy level was spot on for me I also included a dessert and both were good, not wonderful. I understand that gf baking is tough. I'm a former baker. The chocolate chip cookies were good but not great. They weee on the hard side not soft and chewy. Most I've tried are too soft so this was an improvement. The beet brownie that my husband had was the best. Tasted gloriously sweet. I'm planning to take my friends who aren't celiac but enjoy good food. They'll love it

Beet sandwich. The fries were the best part.

The service is decent but the food is really just acceptable. I want to love this place. Maybe their kitchen had an off day, but food was not fresh. I know y'all can do better!

The space feels very Root Down in the best way. Funky, artsy, a little mid century, but still comfortable and not trying too hard. Then the food starts showing up and suddenly the whole table is passing plates around because everyone keeps saying "wait, try this." We ordered a bunch of things and the smoked carrots were probably the biggest surprise for me. I would absolutely go back just to eat those again. The masa birria, diver scallops, and grilled artichokes and asparagus were all great too. The hanger steak was cooked perfectly and came with duck fat potatoes, which immediately puts me in a good mood. Dessert also fully delivered. The banana cream pie with black sesame whip was one of those desserts where you keep going back for another bite even when you're already full. Really lovely all vegan place that I visited twice while I was in Denver…read more Between my two visits, I got the gnocchi with sweet potato sauce, the Cuban sandwich, ginger beer, and the giant chocolate chip cookie. All of it was really great, but I think the gnocchi was my favorite of the two entrees. The ginger beer is not super gingery, tastes like Fevertree. The chocolate chip cookie with sea salt is an absolute must! It comes wrapped so I took mine back to the hotel to share with my non-veg husband after he got back from his work conference dinners and he said they were the best chocolate chip cookies he'd ever had! Also, I think it's fun that the plates are made to look like wood, but aren't. The first time I came it had been pouring rain, so the restaurant wasn't as full and it was very easy to find an open table, but the second time it was positively packed, and both times were week nights, so I suspect this place is pretty popular with the locals. I like that the ordering is done through QR code and website, since that would make it easy for groups and means you don't have to all know what you want at the same time (or, if dining solo as I was, you don't need to interact as much with staff, which is sometimes a blessing). Several members of the staff wore face masks, which I appreciated, and there were some nice paintings on the walls from local artists for sale. If I am ever in Denver again, I think I would really like to come back here--and I'd definitely get the chocolate chip cookie every time!

You seat yourself and have a choice to order with the QR code or go up to the counter. It being my first time I went up to the counter to get some additional recommendations. I went with the side buffalo cauliflower & the chicken Caesar salad. Both were fresh, had lots of flavor and filling-- highly recommend. When closing out my tab at the counter, I picked up a chocolate chip cookie togo (extra large in size and just the right about of sweetness). With the menu so unique I prefer a little more "hands on service" but the experience was tasty and eager to come back and try other things. Clean, homemade, high quality vegan food with lots of GF options/ substitution-- Highly recommend.

We tried a lot of things on the menu and liked each dish. We also enjoyed the butternut penne, everything crunch salad, and butternut squash arancini which were all delicious. I've been here many times in a variety of ways--sat at the bar, at tables with friends and by myself, both inside and outside, and even experienced the large farm table prix fixe menu, which was fantastic. My experiences have consistently been great--the food, service, and atmosphere have always been top-notch. Tonight, however, was my first disappointing visit. I ordered the root vegetable bruschetta, which was very good. I also ordered the butternut squash penne pasta, a dish I've had before and really enjoyed. Unfortunately, this time it was extremely spicy. I'm not sure if the recipe has changed or if it was just a heavy hand in the kitchen, but it was not something I could eat. I mentioned it to the waiter, who didn't have an answer, so I simply asked for a to-go container. Since I couldn't eat it, I later gave the container to a homeless woman sitting nearby with her grocery cart. On my way out, I spoke with someone at the door who brought over the manager. The manager asked if he could see the dish, so I opened the container for him. He then asked if he could taste it and reached in, picked up a noodle, and tried it, saying he didn't notice anything unusual. He also wasn't aware of any changes to the recipe. I suggested that if the dish is now spicy, it might be helpful to note that on the menu so guests know what to expect. What left me disappointed wasn't just the dish itself, but how the situation was handled. There wasn't an offer to replace the meal or provide an alternative, which would have gone a long way. As someone who is only about six months into living in Colorado and a new business owner in the area, I often refer places I believe in. Tonight left me questioning whether I will continue to recommend Leaf based on how this was handled, though I'm hopeful that by tomorrow morning I may feel differently. That said, based on my many past positive experiences, I still believe Leaf is a great restaurant. I just hope this was an off night and that a little more attention is given to both consistency in the kitchen and how concerns are handled moving forward.
