Chicken lo mein

Everything about this place was great! The service was good and so was the food. The portions were pretty big so you can definitely share. The sesame chicken had the perfect amount of crispness, I enjoyed the flavor of the chicken lo mein, the cheese wontons and dumplings were a pretty good size they definitely can make you full before you get your meal. Overall a great experience!

Great food, great price. 2 for 1 beers all day. Ate lunch, drank 6 beers and was $40. Couldn't recommend enough.

Linger was one of the…read morefirst restaurants I ever went to when I moved to Denver, and El Five has always been one of my favorites too, so I finally made it to Root Down and honestly... another win. The space feels very Root Down in the best way. Funky, artsy, a little mid century, but still comfortable and not trying too hard. Then the food starts showing up and suddenly the whole table is passing plates around because everyone keeps saying "wait, try this." We ordered a bunch of things and the smoked carrots were probably the biggest surprise for me. I would absolutely go back just to eat those again. The masa birria, diver scallops, and grilled artichokes and asparagus were all great too. The hanger steak was cooked perfectly and came with duck fat potatoes, which immediately puts me in a good mood. Dessert also fully delivered. The banana cream pie with black sesame whip was one of those desserts where you keep going back for another bite even when you're already full. It just felt like a really thoughtful meal from start to finish. Definitely one of my favorite dinners I've had in a while.

"It has MUSHROOM GRAVY what could be better?!"…read more Well sir, I'll take your word for it. And although it's over one hundred degrees outside I'll order one Loko Moko to enjoy in pleasant Civic Center park on this Tuesday afternoon. Never having been to Civic Center EATS before I did not know to expect a food stand heaven! I warned my dining partner beforehand that I would have to peruse each one and weigh my options before settling on a meal. While a light sandwich sounded a little more appropriate on this hot summer's day, we ended up devouring Steamin' Demon. We weren't quite sure what to expect but decided to be adventurous! What we got was a bowl filled with white rice, a quinoa and pinto bean patty, guacamole, sriacha, a fried egg, and yes... gravy. Thank goodness we split this because I was so full after eating my half. Their other sandwiches looked tasty and I would probably opt for that next time but this protein-packed meal was just what I needed to power me through the rest of the day! I loved the creative vegetarian-friendly combos being served up by this friendly staff and this food stand can be found all over town depending on the day of the week! I'd definitely check it out if it's ever near you!

Okay, okay, I'm fully aware that it's actually a Hawaiian plate lunch dish....not something that I would ever conceive of. But could a veggie version seriously get more perfect? I can't stop thinking about it or about how I can get some more. I finally got to check this place out at the Justice League for Street Food party over by the Metro apartments. I had the idea of it in my head all day the day before (I was hungover, it happens) and was first in line when the carts started serving food. It was more than I hoped. Every bite was amazing. They take a bowl, put in a scoop of sticky rice, a perfectly crispy on the outside pinto bean/quinoa patty, a generous amount of their delicious gravy, an overeasy (and perfectly runny) fried egg, a dollop of guac, and hot chile paste to your prefence. It reminds me of something I'd do at home only they get every element down perfectly (sometimes my veggie gravy is too sweet...theirs is not....as I mentioned before, they are geniuses). The chile paste provided just enough burn when incorporated into every bite and I ate way too much before I knew it. Since then, I've managed to commit their daily schedule to memory so I can figure out where to stalk them next. I'd like to try the bahn mi someday, I really would....but I can't stop thinking about the Loco Moco.

A little hard to have a conversation across the table. However, the food was wonderful. We arrived late in the afternoon on a Sunday & they were relatively busy. Yard House has been around for 30 years with tons of locations all over the U.S. This location is in the downtown Sheraton Hotel & of course being downtown parking can be a challenge. Yard House doesn't take reservations but they do have a Waitlist. Service was great...we were seated immediately & greeted by our friendly & attentive Server. Drinks & Apps came fast. We had the Fried Calamari & Miguel's Queso Dip to start. The crispy Calamari was nice & tender - served with two yummy sauces, a Spicy Tomato & a Roasted Jalapeño Tarter. The Queso Dip was good as well but we needed more of everything - dip, tortillas & chips. We had a couple of entrees. First, was a 20 oz Bone-in Korean Rib Eye with Grilled Shrimp & Chili Garlic Fries. This was a huge plate of deliciousness. The steak was cooked perfectly & marinated in a strong soy ginger marinade which I enjoyed. The Grilled Shrimp were a nice compliment & the Fries were spicy. In hindsight I should have chosen the Parmesan Mashed Potatoes as my side to balance out the dish better. Our second entree was Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken, this was good as well - grilled chicken & creamy Alfredo. What a fun place to go with tasty food.

I'm a loyal being and if you become my friend, you're stuck with me, and if you become my favorite food, I will follow you all my life. Such is Ba-NOM-a-NOM, the vegan food truck out of Denver. For the past few years since I've lived in Fort Collins, I've attended many a food truck rally in City Park where this truck has been a staple. With COVID-19 going on now, the food truck rally has stuck around, but with a few changes. They now feature four different food trucks four nights a week on a rotational schedule. I read that Ba-NOM-a-NOM was out this past week and had to go satisfy my craving. I ordered the original (frozen banana turned into a smooth ice cream-like consistency) and added warm peanut butter and vegan chocolate chips. This is a completely guilt-free treat, albeit a little pricey and slightly guilty for my wallet, but I'm more than happy to support the small businesses that I know and love during this tough time. They offer a multitude of other flavors like watermelon, mango, strawberry banana and possibly others, but again, I've found what I love and stick with what works. You can find out their next location via their website as they travel across the Front Range whipping up this delicious, magic, guilt-free dessert while keeping masks on, gloves on, and social distancing enforced.

My child and I went to the truck while they are at Woodmar Park in Littleton. Sooo good! We may need to go again tonight before they leave to try other flavors. The Pineapple Peach and the Watermelon Mango are great! Not too sweet and tastes like fresh fruit, which my kids love. Word of caution: if you like sweet desserts, you may be disappointed. Their vegan "ice cream" is not super sweet and it made with bananas and other fruits. Also, it isn't as creamy as regular soft serve ice cream, but it is still soft with very small pieces of fruit in it and had a slightly icy consistency.

The coffee is nothing special and the service is cordial but nothing above and beyond. They were out of Bagels (what?!) and their breakfast burrito is fairly no frills. It's small, fits in the palm of your hand, and served luke warm. The tortilla was a bit soggy from sitting around for a while. The avocado toast is good so I recommend that for a small bite. It turned out to be a great find! This is one of the very few places downtown that I know of that serves Pablo's Coffee, which is what piqued my interest since I am a big fan of their light roast. The menu items are standard for most coffee shops: au lait, cappuccino, the works. I chose the au lait in the light roast with extra foam. Creamy and light without any bitterness, which is exactly my version of a great cup of joe. You know they definitely brew their coffee well here when you don't need to add any sugar for it to taste good. They also have some tasty pastries that go well with their drinks; I chose the pineapple coconut bread that was the perfect touch of sweetness to my unsweetened coffee. The people are nice and are accommodating to your preferences, which was very welcoming as a first time customer! I'll be coming back, intentionally this time, in the future.

Uncle makes me want to move to Denver! To start the ambiance is really chill and inviting with warm lighting and offers countertop as well as table seating. Our server was amazing and explained the menu well and made some recommendations that did not disappoint. We ordered way to much food but I do not regret that because I got to try so many amazing dishes. Despite ordering so many options they even brought us a chilled tofu dish complimentary (no clue why but not complaining) and it was lovely! We shared the uncle salad (amazing!), thai shrimp, eggplant buns, several different nigiri/aburi nigiri and sashimi and the toro toro and spicy tuna roll. All of the sushi was fresh and had excellent pairing of accompaniments. The only dish that I remember being a miss was the soft shell crab buns. The proportion of bun to interior was off and there was way too much mayo. Everyone got their own ramen which they seemed to love. I ordered the Veggie Khao Soi per our servers recommendation and I am still thinking about it weeks later. It was a curry/ramen mix and had big chunks of trumpet mushrooms in it and the perfect amount of spice that I love.
