We arrived on time and was seated promptly. The waitress was attentive and on point, we had a full meal, appetizer, entree, and dessert. After ordering dessert and before the dessert was served our check was dropped off and quickly processed. Our dessert arrived and quickly after taking the last bite the waitress approached us and mentioned that she had others waiting for our table and asked if could move on. So Violas has me under their spell..LOL. The atmosphere is just wonderful. The service is always impeccable. The food is amazeballs. I had the cannonball shrimp and wowzers it was dynamite. My entree was veal parmesan. Perfect serving size, the beal was tender and the sauce is haunting my tasted buds as I type this information. My friend Todd recommended this joint, Todd well special in his own ways, is not know for having a great foodie mind! However, he nailed this place!! My smoke show of a wife had pasta with vodka sauce, WONDERFUL!!! I had lasagna, it was very very good!! Todd had spicy sausage, terrific!!! Other than little snafu, service was great and my fettuccini with grilled chicken was delicious! Had to bring half of it back home so it was a large serving. The St Augustine area has so many great restaurants and Violas is on that list. Following the holidays my wife and I came in the first weekend in January looking for a place we haven't been. We had always had Violas on the places to try. We made a call for reservations around 3 pm on a Friday (yeah like that was going to happen) and with a little work and patience we had 4:45 reservations. The Chicken parm and seafood Diablo were tasty and the wine we paired was a nice fruit forward bottle for $50 which was well worth it. Violas was recommended as a great place to visit while we were in St. Augustine. We had Garlic Knots as an appetizer and although the bread portion was excellent, the garlic was definitely missing. There was more garlic on the bread that came with the dinner plate. I ordered the Lobster Ravioli in Vodka sauce. The ravioli were very good, tender, flavorful and a good size. The Vodka sauce was lacking flavor, body and was very thin and watery. Entirely too much sauce in the bowl. The ravioli were swimming in sauce. Our server was very pleasant but service was very slow. I ordered an angel hair pasta dish with garlic and olive oil. With a side of broccoli. The server said the broccoli was in "water" ok? Hmmm. Well I asked if it could come on the side, he said it would be great on top of my pasta. It came out super watery and although it tasted good. It would have been better on the side. A friend made a reservation for 6 instead of 7, she asked if the table for 2 could be pulled over which we were seated in the back against the wall no biggie BUT the owner pulled her aside and reprimanded her, "saying we never would do that" she was rude and out of line. However, the lady who greeted us told us she could sit us in a hour (place technically closes at 8pm) but she said not to worry because the place was hers and her husbands and they would sit us down no matter the time. Food was soooo good and really good quality for a very very good price. Happened to drive pretty far down St Augustine Beach and my blood sugar was dropping like hurry up and get me food or I don't even know what the outcome will be. Luckily for us Violas was just a hop, skip and a jump away from our exit at SAB. We walked in the door on a Saturday at 4:43pm with no reservation (another 17 minutes and we may have not been so lucky). The locals know what's up! You usually need a reservation because it is just THAT GOOD. We obtained a seat, thank you hunger Gods and ordered the garlic knots and caprese right away. They were divine. We then ordered the shrimp and grits for our entree. It was absolute perfection! The shrimp were butterflyed (don't quote me on this) and slightly grilled/blackened and the grit cakes, oh the grit cakes are where the home is, or heart I don't know. It was love at first sight. It was like give the chef a hug and thank him for existing good. So yes I would very much recommend. read more

I was in town visiting my family and it was my mother's 88th birthday in August. She loves Violas, so we decided to take her there for dinner. We made a reservation for 4:15 PM, which was a bit early but we figured we could make it work. After arriving, we ordered cocktails and a few appetizers. There were five of us celebrating the birthday, and I had just flown into town two hours earlier. We were enjoying each other's company when the staff started pushing us to place our dinner orders. Everyone ordered their meals along with side salads. Before we could finish our appetizers, the salads arrived. After that, our drinks arrived and then came the main courses. The staff kept coming by to clear away our plates, and at one point, they took my mom's salad bowl while she was still eating, rushing us to finish. At that point, we had been there for about an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes. We had planned to order dessert for my mom's birthday, but before we could do so, the waitress informed us that the next reservation had arrived. She asked us to finish up now and leave. I have never been treated this way anywhere else, and I dine at many nice places. My entire family is in St. Augustine, and they will never eat at Violas again. The staff was very rude, and despite spending a lot of money there that night. We will never eat there again or recommend it to our family or friends. read more
