Phenomenal! I ate here for the first time last week, and I will definitely be coming back! The fried grouper sandwich was cooked to PERFECTION, which actually isn't that easy to accomplish. I'm accustomed to the batter being too greasy (cooked too long or left in too low a temp), or the fish being mushy or overcooked. This sandwich was neither of those things! The fish was firm, flaky, and delicious, and the fried batter was the best I've had in at least two decades. All of the toppings (lettuce, tomato, onions, lettuce) were fresh and crispy. The house tartar sauce was superb! Just enough dill to add tangy seasoning and not overbearingly sweet, like most tartar sauces. I was so impressed that I actually wanted to meet Randy, who prepared that amazing meal. Add to that the service provided by Brendan, our waiter, who was legitimately friendly, very knowledgable, and super- attentive! Management did come by to check on our experience, and they seemed like they genuinely cared how everything was. Was celebrating 33 years of marriage today so thought we crab (grab) some seafood by the water! Nice view of the ocean from the second floor. Our server Derek was very attentive and helpful with making some decisions. We enjoyed starting with the Hush Puppies and a cocktail - their Pina Colada! We must say they were the best hush puppies we have had in a long while! Perfect crunchy outside and SO moist inside! YUM! The Fish (Halibut) and chips were good. Nykki is fantastic! She was super friendly and knowledgeable about the entire menu. The food - very, very tasty. I had the coconut shrimp (the house made pina colada sauce is out of this world!) and the cheesy grits (which were hands down, very tasty). Was a little skeptical because it's a chain, at the beach, and these places tend to underwhelm. Not Crabby's! Great service & portions. Loved the mahi with red shrimp. Perfectly cooked. Came with two sides, I got slaw & fries which were both tasty. Only complaint is I believe the plate was supposed to come with two conch fritters but didn't receive them. We had lunch today in the patio. Very beach-bar vibe with indoor seating, and outdoor seating out front or on the second floor. I imagine you can see the beach from upstairs. I had a bucket Dragon Fruit Margarita. It was tasty, and a good value for $10! We shared the shrimp nachos and the grouper tacos with Gouda grits. The Gouda grits were excellent. The grouper tacos were good, but the market price of the day was a bit high. Still, good eats and cooked perfectly. The nachos weren't that great. The shrimp did not have much taste, the beans and other things on the chips were sort of dry and the 'cheese' didn't taste at all like cheese. It was not finished. This is a good seafood restaurant in St. Augustine that is similar to Joe's Crab Shack. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a view of the beach as you would think it would by the name. Outside the front door, you can play jenga or corn hole. After checking in the front, there's a cute little shop where you can get T-shirts. They have lots to offer on the drink menu. I saw a review that they have the best calamari in the world which I wouldn't say was the case, but it's decent. It only includes the body (no tentacles which is my favorite part) but it was perfectly cooked with a good batter and also includes fried jalapeños which was a great addition. The sauce was a remoulade type sauce (I prefer marinara with my calamari) that wasn't too bad. I got the house salad with shrimp. Their lettuce was really fresh and overall great salad. The shrimp had too much bay seasoning on it in my opinion. My husband ordered the fish and chips which I thought was delicious! The batter on it was super crispy and full of flavor. He thought the tartar sauce had too much dill and not enough pickles. Overall, we felt all the sauces like tartar and ranch tasted too watered down. They had great options for the kids. As others have noted, it's not technically on the beach but it's beach adjacent and it was convenient to walk to from our hotel. We went for a late lunch/early dinner so the crowd was thin (just like we like it). I ordered the Shrimp & Grits with a House Salad and my husband ordered the Fish & Chips with mac & cheese. Salad was good, just a standard house salad, but I did immediately remove the red onion strips on top (too strong for my taste). Shrimp & Grits were great and I appreciated their use of baby shrimp in the grits instead of just placing 5 large shrimp on top. My husband, on the other hand, did not care for his Fish & Chips, but he said it was on him: the menu plainly says the fish is beer battered, which he doesn't like, but he said it didn't register with him until he tasted it. He said, "the service and quality of food was really good - it's not their fault I'm picky." Oh, but he also had a Florida Sunset drink and he said that was very good! Place was PACKED and on top of that they had a computer issue which meant the kitchen wasn't getting orders that were placed. Shouldn't someone have noticed this before food was backed up for an hour? We had a reservation at 2:30 but went early to see if we could get seated. No such luck. They accepted walking before us? Hmmm When we finally got a table the waiter was very nice and informed us food would take at least 45 minutes. Normally I would have left but we decided to stay. 1 hour later our waiter, Brandon, brought our food to the table. Mine was not even warm. Manager came over and remade my food, another 20 minutes, it came out hot but was definitely not the quality it should have been. Ended up coming to Crabby's after a long day of athletic competition. Tired and hungry and in need of a beer(s) (uhhh and tequila shot). Walked upstairs and sat ourselves at the bar. The bartender (Mike) was the host that every worn out and weary group could ever hope for. He's personable, funny, kind, and quick to take care of you. We got some beers... can't remember the name of the beer but it was Crabby's own IPA. Legit great and we ended up actually tapping it out. Calamari and conch are really well made. It's not next level but it's fried apps so what would you expect? One of us got crab and we shared it a bit. Excellent excellent. And the grits are good. We had dinner here this past Thursday and it was great! There's indoor and outdoor seating available and the restaurant has its own lot for parking. If you really liked your meal - they also have several shirts and hats for purchase near the host stand for a souvenir. We walked in and were quickly seated. Service was good and everything was clean. We started with an order of the Calamari and crab spinach dip. Both were delicious. They didn't stand a chance with our group and were quickly devoured. Three of us got the Seafood Feast boil and then one went with the shrimp trio. The seafood feast boil was MASSIVE and included crab legs, shrimp, sausage and corn. It also comes with a side. We came here for dinner on Sunday night. For being a weekend day, it wasn't crowded at all and they even had live music. The vibe was casual and low-key. We tried the clam chowder, the Alaskan crab roll, and Crabby's baked oysters. Everything was very tasty and they really stuff that crab roll! We also got lucky because the kitchen got our order of baked oysters wrong, so we ended up with what we ordered plus oysters crabafella. If you're in the market for a cold drink and a quick lunch/dinner after a day on the beach, Crabby's could be the right call. My mistake was visiting on a Saturday night thinking it would be a higher-quality seafood restaurant...it was not that. Overall a 4-of-5 rating applies to everything - Clam chowder was fine, just not exceptional (and not very hot), fish & chips were fine, grilled grouper also fine. You get the point. Even the service was just okay (server was overwhelmed, food runners work really hard). Sit upstairs or outside for the best views. I probably won't be back anytime soon, but if you're in the area it's probably best for drinks and apps. read more

This one unfortunately represents a "touristy style" restaurant (meaning they are catering to tourists and not concerned about the quality of their food). First time back in many years after being a longtime patron of the old Palm Pavilion, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised -- a true 5-star experience from start to finish. On a busy Friday night, we started at the bar for cocktails and were immediately welcomed by a friendly, upbeat bar staff. At prime dinner hour we put our name in for a table and, to our surprise, were seated on the outdoor patio with that spectacular beach view in about 15 minutes. Service was excellent throughout -- attentive without being intrusive -- and the food was terrific. Highlights for us: Fish spread -- outstanding and rivaled some of my longtime local favorites in both quality and flavor. Grilled buffalo wings -- cooked perfectly. Fried oysters -- excellent appetizer. (order two of the sauces) Cajun Fried Shrimp Po' Boy -- very tasty (my only small suggestion would be a little more remoulade sauce, it was nearly absent). Nashville Chicken Sandwich -- my wife loved it; spicy and delicious and not overcooked.. A fun surprise: this was the first day they had tables actually set up on the sand, which I think is a fantastic addition. It may make things a little tougher on the servers, but for beachgoers it's a wonderful option. The live music was very good -- this has always been a fun place to hear local musicians -- and the performers that evening did not disappoint. It was a touch loud for conversation on the patio and we were sitting quite aways away from the band, but many enjoy that energy. If you want a quieter meal, dining inside may be the better choice. A particularly nice touch was the manager stopping by our table to make sure everything was to our liking. That level of attention says a lot. The place feels professionally run. Prices are a little higher, but in my opinion the food quality is a step up from the old Palm Pavilion -- and frankly, what do you expect for a front-row seat on one of the nation's #1 beaches? We had just got off the beach and were looking for a nice but cheaper place to eat. With this being right on the beach it was a no brainer and had a great view of the water. While it was great atmosphere, the food was a different story, I was craving calamari so I ordered some but when it came out there wasn't even baby squids in it, and it was only a handful so that was disappointing. Great service and friendly greetings from waitress and hostess. We ordered rib, seafood shrimp linguine, kids chicken fingers and the stuffed flounder. All the food was well prepared and seasoned well. The stuffed flounder came with broccoli and half an ear of corn which was smaller than usual. Feeling cheated also on the portion size of the flounder. Seems to me that the cost out weighed the portion however, everything else was fine. We've driven by Crabby's many times and decided to just give a shot since my son was hangry and we were in the area. Got a parking spot and despite being pretty busy were seated almost immediately upstairs by the railing so we had a great view of the ocean. I tend to agree with the reviews that say the portions weren't very large for the price. If you look at the pictures you can see there's very few fries in the fish and chips basket, and not that much fish either. That being said I'm not sure I need to be eating a ton of fried food anyway - but if they want an easy way to improve I would say to be more generous with the portions and go with better quality fries. Everything we had was good - for a chain by the beach it was solid. My son and husband loved their drinks - my son got a bucket of something because it was on special, totally worth it as it cost less than getting 2 drinks. Our waitress Sarah K was extremely attentive and funny - we really enjoyed our banter with her and would come back just because of how great she was.
