First time back in many years after being a longtime patron of the old Palm Pavilion, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised -- a true 5-star experience from start to finish. On a busy Friday night, we started at the bar for cocktails and were immediately welcomed by a friendly, upbeat bar staff. At prime dinner hour we put our name in for a table and, to our surprise, were seated on the outdoor patio with that spectacular beach view in about 15 minutes. Service was excellent throughout -- attentive without being intrusive -- and the food was terrific. Highlights for us: Fish spread -- outstanding and rivaled some of my longtime local favorites in both quality and flavor. Grilled buffalo wings -- cooked perfectly. Fried oysters -- excellent appetizer. (order two of the sauces) Cajun Fried Shrimp Po' Boy -- very tasty (my only small suggestion would be a little more remoulade sauce, it was nearly absent). Nashville Chicken Sandwich -- my wife loved it; spicy and delicious and not overcooked.. A fun surprise: this was the first day they had tables actually set up on the sand, which I think is a fantastic addition. It may make things a little tougher on the servers, but for beachgoers it's a wonderful option. The live music was very good -- this has always been a fun place to hear local musicians -- and the performers that evening did not disappoint. It was a touch loud for conversation on the patio and we were sitting quite aways away from the band, but many enjoy that energy. If you want a quieter meal, dining inside may be the better choice. A particularly nice touch was the manager stopping by our table to make sure everything was to our liking. That level of attention says a lot. The place feels professionally run. Prices are a little higher, but in my opinion the food quality is a step up from the old Palm Pavilion -- and frankly, what do you expect for a front-row seat on one of the nation's #1 beaches? Ended up coming to Crabby's after a long day of athletic competition. Tired and hungry and in need of a beer(s) (uhhh and tequila shot). Walked upstairs and sat ourselves at the bar. The bartender (Mike) was the host that every worn out and weary group could ever hope for. He's personable, funny, kind, and quick to take care of you. We got some beers... can't remember the name of the beer but it was Crabby's own IPA. Legit great and we ended up actually tapping it out. Calamari and conch are really well made. It's not next level but it's fried apps so what would you expect? One of us got crab and we shared it a bit. Excellent excellent. And the grits are good. As others have noted, it's not technically on the beach but it's beach adjacent and it was convenient to walk to from our hotel. We went for a late lunch/early dinner so the crowd was thin (just like we like it). I ordered the Shrimp & Grits with a House Salad and my husband ordered the Fish & Chips with mac & cheese. Salad was good, just a standard house salad, but I did immediately remove the red onion strips on top (too strong for my taste). Shrimp & Grits were great and I appreciated their use of baby shrimp in the grits instead of just placing 5 large shrimp on top. My husband, on the other hand, did not care for his Fish & Chips, but he said it was on him: the menu plainly says the fish is beer battered, which he doesn't like, but he said it didn't register with him until he tasted it. He said, "the service and quality of food was really good - it's not their fault I'm picky." Oh, but he also had a Florida Sunset drink and he said that was very good! We had lunch today in the patio. Very beach-bar vibe with indoor seating, and outdoor seating out front or on the second floor. I imagine you can see the beach from upstairs. I had a bucket Dragon Fruit Margarita. It was tasty, and a good value for $10! We shared the shrimp nachos and the grouper tacos with Gouda grits. The Gouda grits were excellent. The grouper tacos were good, but the market price of the day was a bit high. Still, good eats and cooked perfectly. The nachos weren't that great. The shrimp did not have much taste, the beans and other things on the chips were sort of dry and the 'cheese' didn't taste at all like cheese. It was not finished. We really wanted to like this place more. The look, the music, the location & the vibe were nice. Service was pretty good & fast paced. Unfortunately Most of our food was not up to par or worth the money. The coconut shrimp was basic but the dipping sauce really made it better. This is a good seafood restaurant in St. Augustine that is similar to Joe's Crab Shack. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a view of the beach as you would think it would by the name. Outside the front door, you can play jenga or corn hole. After checking in the front, there's a cute little shop where you can get T-shirts. They have lots to offer on the drink menu. I saw a review that they have the best calamari in the world which I wouldn't say was the case, but it's decent. It only includes the body (no tentacles which is my favorite part) but it was perfectly cooked with a good batter and also includes fried jalapeños which was a great addition. The sauce was a remoulade type sauce (I prefer marinara with my calamari) that wasn't too bad. I got the house salad with shrimp. Their lettuce was really fresh and overall great salad. The shrimp had too much bay seasoning on it in my opinion. My husband ordered the fish and chips which I thought was delicious! The batter on it was super crispy and full of flavor. He thought the tartar sauce had too much dill and not enough pickles. Overall, we felt all the sauces like tartar and ranch tasted too watered down. They had great options for the kids. We had dinner here this past Thursday and it was great! There's indoor and outdoor seating available and the restaurant has its own lot for parking. If you really liked your meal - they also have several shirts and hats for purchase near the host stand for a souvenir. We walked in and were quickly seated. Service was good and everything was clean. We started with an order of the Calamari and crab spinach dip. Both were delicious. They didn't stand a chance with our group and were quickly devoured. Three of us got the Seafood Feast boil and then one went with the shrimp trio. The seafood feast boil was MASSIVE and included crab legs, shrimp, sausage and corn. It also comes with a side. This one unfortunately represents a "touristy style" restaurant (meaning they are catering to tourists and not concerned about the quality of their food). Place was PACKED and on top of that they had a computer issue which meant the kitchen wasn't getting orders that were placed. Shouldn't someone have noticed this before food was backed up for an hour? We had a reservation at 2:30 but went early to see if we could get seated. No such luck. They accepted walking before us? Hmmm When we finally got a table the waiter was very nice and informed us food would take at least 45 minutes. Normally I would have left but we decided to stay. 1 hour later our waiter, Brandon, brought our food to the table. Mine was not even warm. Manager came over and remade my food, another 20 minutes, it came out hot but was definitely not the quality it should have been. This place ain't cheap and we don't expect much, good service and a quality hot meal. That shouldn't be to much to ask. Not sure we'll ever go back because of this disaster. read more

We had an open table reservation at 630. Immediately ordered a bowl of clam chowder and Mahi Takos and a grouper dinner. Waited an hour for the clam chowder. Asked where we were on the dinner list. Did not see wait person for another 30 min. Gave up. Left money on the table. There was plenty of seating outside, no wait staff. Sorry, never going back there. We've driven by Crabby's many times and decided to just give a shot since my son was hangry and we were in the area. Got a parking spot and despite being pretty busy were seated almost immediately upstairs by the railing so we had a great view of the ocean. I tend to agree with the reviews that say the portions weren't very large for the price. If you look at the pictures you can see there's very few fries in the fish and chips basket, and not that much fish either. That being said I'm not sure I need to be eating a ton of fried food anyway - but if they want an easy way to improve I would say to be more generous with the portions and go with better quality fries. Everything we had was good - for a chain by the beach it was solid. My son and husband loved their drinks - my son got a bucket of something because it was on special, totally worth it as it cost less than getting 2 drinks. Our waitress Sarah K was extremely attentive and funny - we really enjoyed our banter with her and would come back just because of how great she was. For a no brainer meal where everyone can find something they like at a decent price you can't really go wrong here; just know this isn't a gourmet spot. read more

I'm not normally the guy to get a burger at a seafood place or chicken at a steak. I opted to get their 1/2 burger. You could tell it was a premade patty, and despite being cooked the right temperature, it was never going to be a great burger. The fries were also good, but not great and I found them a bit dry. I appreciate crabby, accommodating our larger party on a busy weekend! It's a good spot for families to come and they have TVs on including chive TV to keep the kids busy! I had the shrimp three ways and it was good but not spectacular ! My wife had the shrimp and grits, but it was very oily. If they cut back on the oil would've have been much better! For the tables appetizer, which was a freebie through Yelp with the purchase of over $25, we had the creamy crab & spinach dip--anything on the menu with a crab symbol is their specialty item. Strong in cheese and crab flavor, with regular Tostito style chips. I treated myself to a New York Strip, which was a nice, large size to have leftovers with. It was juicy and flavorful (medium well) but I also ended up asking for A1 sauce, as that wasn't on the table--to add more flavor. The strip comes with two sides, and I opted for the mac and cheese which came served alongside. The white cheddar was creamy and flavorful. I think they are understaffed, as there seemed to be one waitress holding down the main floor we were tabled at. She was polite and attentive enough, but I noticed she didn't ask us how the meal was or if we wanted dessert after we were through with our food. This is a place we have tried on five separate occasions, wanting it to be a higher end Panama Hatties' vibe and fare, but it isn't. We have been for breakfast, lunch and dinner, spending upwards of $150-200 for 2-3 of us at dinner. We have just given up. It isn't for us. read more

The wait is atrocious. We made a reservation because we tried to walk in the night before and were told it was going to be a 2 hour wait for two people. It didn't make a difference! When we arrived at the restaurant there were few diners inside. We specifically went here because it was close to our accommodations, and Bring Fido gave it high stars. My husband waited outside while I went inside to get a table. I stood there for 15 minutes while workers walked past me without even a glance. Rude. My daughter commented on how if this happened at her place of employment, she'd have been fired immediately. We waited for a table outside that needed to be clean and separated. Took another 15 minutes. Food: we opted for grouper tacos, chicken sandwich on Cuban bread, and combo of ribs and shrimp. Grouper taco was enjoyed. Chicken sandwich was on a roll, not cuban bread. One puny slice of cheese that covered 1/2 of the sandwich. Fries were just okay. Sides were gouda grits and tropical coleslaw. Okay, but just that. An entree ribs and shrimp was just okay. Ribs should fall off the bone, this wasn't that. My pet peeve is when one diner eats a little faster, which signals a server to come and start clearing the table. The remaining diners are then rushed and everybody is uncomfortable. Stop doing that! One diner was a slower eater and the busboy started clearing in mid-bite. I told him she's still eating, but one side was already in his bin, so there went that. This might be more of a beach bar music place with earlier diners. read more

We visited with a party of 15 Connecticut Yankees celebrating birthdays. We imbibed both serious and virgin drinks, all were happy. Nicole, our server checked with us often and the manager stopped by once also. Everyone commented on the high quality of their food. Overall an okay experience probably more like a 3.5, not sure I can justify a 4. Not spectacular. Took a while for a server to acknowledge us after we sat (although once we did get a server she was very lovely and attentive) The portions seemed rather small for the price (I get it we're in a tourist town...) but the sides could have been more substantial, in particular the coconut rice (although really good) was like maybe 4 forks full, it was a tiny portion. The good part is they were open late. This is why we chose them. Most every thing else unfortunately was closed when we arrived in town :) Also they were out of key lime pie, which they told us after we ordered it. No big deal we get it but would have loved to try it.
