Place was PACKED and on top of that they had a computer issue which meant the kitchen wasn't getting orders that were placed. Shouldn't someone have noticed this before food was backed up for an hour? We had a reservation at 2:30 but went early to see if we could get seated. No such luck. They accepted walking before us? Hmmm When we finally got a table the waiter was very nice and informed us food would take at least 45 minutes. Normally I would have left but we decided to stay. 1 hour later our waiter, Brandon, brought our food to the table. Mine was not even warm. Manager came over and remade my food, another 20 minutes, it came out hot but was definitely not the quality it should have been. I appreciate crabby, accommodating our larger party on a busy weekend! It's a good spot for families to come and they have TVs on including chive TV to keep the kids busy! I had the shrimp three ways and it was good but not spectacular ! My wife had the shrimp and grits, but it was very oily. If they cut back on the oil would've have been much better! My son had a seafood boil and he enjoyed that and working on the crab legs! Service was great attentive and made sure we had plenty of drinks! I thought the calamari was pretty tasty, though. For the tables appetizer, which was a freebie through Yelp with the purchase of over $25, we had the creamy crab & spinach dip--anything on the menu with a crab symbol is their specialty item. Strong in cheese and crab flavor, with regular Tostito style chips. I treated myself to a New York Strip, which was a nice, large size to have leftovers with. It was juicy and flavorful (medium well) but I also ended up asking for A1 sauce, as that wasn't on the table--to add more flavor. The strip comes with two sides, and I opted for the mac and cheese which came served alongside. The white cheddar was creamy and flavorful. I think they are understaffed, as there seemed to be one waitress holding down the main floor we were tabled at. She was polite and attentive enough, but I noticed she didn't ask us how the meal was or if we wanted dessert after we were through with our food. We had an open table reservation at 630. Immediately ordered a bowl of clam chowder and Mahi Takos and a grouper dinner. Waited an hour for the clam chowder. Asked where we were on the dinner list. Did not see wait person for another 30 min. Gave up. Left money on the table. There was plenty of seating outside, no wait staff. Sorry, never going back there. I wanted to go to St. Augustine Beach for a couple of hours and figured I would grab some lunch at one of the restaurants there beforehand. I decided to try this one because they have an upstairs Outdoor patio and serve both breakfast and lunch. They have your standard breakfast items as well as some unique items. You can also order a lunch item. I decided to go with one of my favorites, shrimp and grits. I'm so glad I did because it was delicious. Service from my waitress, Stephanie, was excellent. Had a great meal at Crabby's today. I come to St. Augustine each summer and seek out crab legs. I have to say the Crab Boil did not disappoint me! It was very good with just the right amount of seasoning! While waiting for my entree I tried the Perfect Pina Colada and it was also amazing! We sat at the spacious bar inside at ground level and had excellent service. The restaurant looks spectacular as it has been completely renovated and is very clean. The wait is atrocious. We made a reservation because we tried to walk in the night before and were told it was going to be a 2 hour wait for two people. It didn't make a difference! When we arrived at the restaurant there were few diners inside. We specifically went here because it was close to our accommodations, and Bring Fido gave it high stars. My husband waited outside while I went inside to get a table. I stood there for 15 minutes while workers walked past me without even a glance. Rude. My daughter commented on how if this happened at her place of employment, she'd have been fired immediately. We waited for a table outside that needed to be clean and separated. Took another 15 minutes. Food: we opted for grouper tacos, chicken sandwich on Cuban bread, and combo of ribs and shrimp. Grouper taco was enjoyed. Chicken sandwich was on a roll, not cuban bread. One puny slice of cheese that covered 1/2 of the sandwich. Fries were just okay. Sides were gouda grits and tropical coleslaw. Okay, but just that. An entree ribs and shrimp was just okay. Ribs should fall off the bone, this wasn't that. My pet peeve is when one diner eats a little faster, which signals a server to come and start clearing the table. The remaining diners are then rushed and everybody is uncomfortable. Stop doing that! One diner was a slower eater and the busboy started clearing in mid-bite. I told him she's still eating, but one side was already in his bin, so there went that. This might be more of a beach bar music place with earlier diners. read more

We visited with a party of 15 Connecticut Yankees celebrating birthdays. We imbibed both serious and virgin drinks, all were happy. Nicole, our server checked with us often and the manager stopped by once also. Everyone commented on the high quality of their food. I'm not big on spicy foods so I had a beef and brisket burger with coleslaw. the restaurant allowed for bringing desserts in for special occasions. Very nice experience. read more

Took a while for a server to acknowledge us after we sat (although once we did get a server she was very lovely and attentive) The portions seemed rather small for the price (I get it we're in a tourist town...) but the sides could have been more substantial, in particular the coconut rice (although really good) was like maybe 4 forks full, it was a tiny portion. The good part is they were open late. This is why we chose them. Most every thing else unfortunately was closed when we arrived in town :) Also they were out of key lime pie, which they told us after we ordered it. No big deal we get it but would have loved to try it. Came in on a rainy Sunday. Restaurant was clean and bright. We sat immediately and ordered some sweet tea. After reviewing the menu we asked our server Rachel and she helped us make our final decision. Rachel's explanation of each item was absolutely perfect! The conch fritter (which was part of the Key West Combo) was absolutely DELICIOUS. My husband sampled the clam chowder and said it IS the best clam chowder he has ever had. Everything was great. However, I gave this visit a 4/5 stars due to the poor customer service from the moment we checked in for our reservation. The check-in desk barely mumbled to go to another desk. I went to where I thought he pointed to. Two girls were there discussing something about the register. One had her back to the line and me. When she finally turned around, she looked at me and said, "What!" I had not even said a word. She pointed me to a door and said go up stairs. This was our first time here, so navigating the bare minimum directions was difficult. Once we had our food, we had to wait for silverware. This was from St. Patrick's day when we were looking for a last minute place to eat and we got lucky as there were seats open at the bar but either way the wait would not have been long, 20 minutes, for a table. The bartenders were so nice and helpful, eight hand food and drinks coming out quick even though they were super busy. The inside and outside eating are were nice and open. The food was all very good and came out hot. My crab roll was delicious with the bread part being soft and toasted. Family beach house weekend down from Crabby's so took the family to give them a try. Short walk and we were playing corn hole and moving to the live music while taking in the pleasant spring beach breeze. We gathered at a large table and began our family meal. Check in on the app offered a IPA so knew it was going to be a good visit. Our server was a young guy who was friendly and prompt on service. I had the fish and chips, which were light and tender within a delightful panko breading. It came with fries and a side of cream corn which I love and is rarely offered. Went for seafood crabs and live music specifically.We got there we were told it's only first available for inside outside. Ok fine it was busy they need to move tables and we took our chances to hear live music. . Got indoor and couldn't hear the music. We ordered Jonah crabs on the seasonal menu. Got them and both opened our first claw. they were FOUL and we paused. They were so bad the smell would not leave our hands even after lemon and washing after three times. Rancid. We quietly got the manager who acknowledged the smell with a face and apologized and got us a menu for another order. We went with Baired (sp?) crabs and while more costly they were great. The bill at end said "no like" for the credit of the Jonah crabs and everything was billed normally. We understand things happen which is why we were quiet and respectful for those around us but I am in the service industry and there could have been something to acknowledge the experience even if small. Crabby's is an excellent dining establishment! It is a double-decker restaurant/bar with a tremendous outdoor second-floor patio/deck with an ocean view. The staff was not just terrific but also incredibly accommodating. Johnny and Heather were personal, approachable, and friendly. They spoke to us like they had known us their entire lives, making us feel right at home. The food and drinks, including various seafood dishes and tropical cocktails, were terrific. The view was breathtaking, and the vibe was on! The patios were both positioned for sun and shade. The front bottom patio possessed a pleasant landscape right in front of it. The atmosphere and vibe were "Beachy," just what we sought. The inside bar and restaurant also had a vibe with a screen and beachy decor. We missed the happy hour, and apparently, it's a good one; starting at 8 AM, breakfast and bloody's, and they go all day, a great spot for vacationers that want to time travel. They have live music on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and most Sundays! We certainly plan to visit again and explore their sister concepts as well! read more
