    Salad with steak
    Patricia R.

The place looks good, its not too big inside, and has a small patio. We had reservations and were seated at our time! Since they are new they only had wine some seltzer. I ordered a salad with steak and my husband the scallops with risotto . The salad was great but the steak needed more flavor. My husband's plate has a lot of mushroom on the risotto, and the flavor was very fishy for me. But overall good. Our server was super friendly and attentive. I'll probably go back again to try more things on the menu! And hopefully they will have handcrafted drinks :)

Anchor 28 is a fantastic addition to Vilano Beach! We recently enjoyed a date night here, and everything from the food to the service was exceptional. Chef Mario's French and Moroccan influence really elevates the menu. The Parmesan Herb Crusted Black Grouper, Rack of Lamb, and Burrata & Golden Peach Salad were all beautifully prepared, and the desserts--especially the Dubai Chocolate Gateaux--were unforgettable. A heartfelt thank you to owners Alex, Frank, and Dina, manager Carlo, and our wonderful server Nicky for making us feel so welcome. Their genuine hospitality made the experience even more special. With its inviting coastal atmosphere, indoor and outdoor seating, and outstanding food, Anchor 28 is a locally owned gem that we highly recommend. We can't wait to come back!

Our food was amazing. I got the Lobster Roll and it was as good as, if not better than, lobster rolls that I had in Bar Harbor, Maine. My husband got the Mahi sandwich and it was perfection. The French Fries are everything you want in a fried potato stick. Crispy on the outside and potato-ey on the inside. Everything is made from scratch and you can taste the difference. The service was great. Everyone was very attentive. We got there about 10 minutes before they opened for lunch and we sat at an outside table to wait. A very kind man came out and brought menus so we could look them over and offered us water. Anchor 28 is charming with a really cool vibe. Highly recommend!

We chose Anchor 28 for a date night, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The warm, friendly service and relaxed yet elegant atmosphere made us feel welcome right away. Every dish was beautifully presented and made with incredibly fresh, high-quality ingredients. You can tell the French-trained chef takes great pride in every plate. Our favorites were the Parmesan Herb Crusted Black Grouper, the Limoncello Butter Gulf Shrimp, the Pistachio & Herb Crusted Rack of Lamb, and the refreshing Burrata & Golden Peach Salad. The desserts were just as impressive, especially the Florida Key Lime Tart and the rich Dubai Chocolate Gateaux. Their wine and cocktail selection is excellent, making it easy to find the perfect pairing. By the end of the meal, my taste buds were in food nirvana. If you're looking for a great seafood restaurant in Vilano Beach for a date night or special occasion, Anchor 28 is absolutely worth the visit. We'll definitely be back!

Great new spot at Vilano with a good vibe - excellent food and ambiance! The service was exceptional and although I generally don't gauge a restaurant on a burger alone I can definitely seeing Anchor 28 becoming very popular and successful!

Absolutely outstanding 4 July dining experience at the new Anchor 28 restaurant in Vilano Beach. Looking to fit in at Vilano and not be the high-end nor the neighborhood bar ... I think there's a balance here and a need here in the area. Although, I didn't really care for the TV over the bar, as it's facing into the open dining room area and as the bar patrons get louder the less enjoyable the dining experience feels. It's not a reflection of the ambience but definitely alters the atmosphere. Greeted with holiday enthusiasm by Alex (owner) and Nina (designer/hostess) as our party of 8 arrived for our dinner reservation before setting sail for fireworks. Our server, Carlo was excellent - excited about the menu and kept pace with our wants and needs. He explained the importance of the soft menu and the feedback and changes already incorporated. Chef Marco stopped by our table and greeted us and asked about our meal and taste. Not one of the 8 diners had any suggestions or concerns or recommendations - every morsel was delectable. My only "complaint" such as it was ... no beignets! Started with warm bread and herbed butter on the table -- excellent!! The Burrata & Peach salad was blooming with colors - the presentation couldn't be beat ... and delicious ... perhaps a tad more dressing, but that's just a personal preference! The filet hand cut by Chef was cooked to perfection - every one of them arrived as order. I was told that the shrimp, scallops, black ink squid pasta was great! The lamb chops tender and tasty. Dessert, for those who indulged- were quite happy with their finish. I can't wait to return with more friends!

We came for my friend's birthday dinner and had an exceptional experience. They decorated our table with a happy birthday sign and brought out complimentary crème brûlée for dessert. Our waitress was enthusiastic, kind and attentive. The bartender made my friend a special bday drink. We enjoyed our apps and entrees. Some of the best salmon I've had in a long time. The ambiance was lovely as well... sexy date night vibes but still welcoming in that coastal st. Augustine way. Would definitely come again.

Our mixologist was named Talon; he was very friendly and knowledgeable. He started by asking us what we usually like to drink (spirits and flavor profiles). Once we gave him the information he needed, Talon proceeded to make us some amazing cocktails. I absolutely loved mine and could have drank them all night. I tried some of my friends' drinks and they were all excellent as well. We ordered several appetizers to share (guacamole, wings, empanadas, and mojo chicharrones), everything was very tasty. Talon came back over to ask us what options we'd like for our second round or drinks, so we all went with something different than the first order. Every cocktail he served us was really good and based on our individual tastes and preferences. I wish I lived in the area because I would go to Odd Birds regularly. The night we were there, they had a secret disco going on in the main dining area which sounded like a fun idea. I loved everything from the drinks, food, and interior decor. The Charlotte 33 Speakeasy area has a very pretty atmosphere as well.

Such a cute place but we felt like the staff was just blah. No personality, not helpful, nothing. Not interactive or engaging. Maybe it was an off night for everyone. I will give it another chance.

It gave modern tiki bar feeling, it was clean and felt very warm and inviting. We sat at the bar and was greeted by the bartender and a very extensive and beautiful leather bound menu! I loved that haha! They had everything from classic tiki drinks, to modern, to drinks by liquor type, etc. It had the food menu, some information about the bar and how it came about. We ordered a few drinks: Bushido Rhapsody (DELICIOUS), Stars & Sarsaparilla (husband liked it) and their currently rotating tiki drink - Escape from Black Mountain, which serves 2 and is served in a cool mug of the bust of Pedro Menendez. You can purchase it as well! It was so good and felt never ending between the 2 of us drinking it. For food we ordered a couple of apps - Cajun Chicken Eggrolls and the Montenegro Meatballs. Both were fantastic!! If we didn't already have dinner plans, we would have stayed here for dinner! Definitely will be coming back here next time we are in town and every time after that!

The Ice Plant location was historically St. Augustine's first power and ice complex. Now the building has been revitalized and has The Ice Plant and The St. Augustine Distillery. The St. Augustine Distillery is connected to The Ice Plant and is a great tour to check out right before heading to grab food at the restaurant. There are a variety of guided and self-guided tours. My spouse and I checked out the self-guided tour right before we grabbed dinner at The Ice Plant. The tour isn't particularly long but was filled with information. After the tour, we headed upstairs to the restaurant. The restaurant feels really spacious with its super tall ceilings. There was lots to look at reminding us of the previous use of the building. We ordered the hand cut fries, strawberry and beet salad, and the gochujang marinated pork chop. I also ordered a few of their drinks, each one featuring different types of ice to fit the drink. Honestly all the food and the drinks were so good, but the easy standout of the night for both my spouse and I were the pork chops. These might have been the best pork chops I've ever had in my life. The pork chops were incredibly tender and juicy, not dry at all. I was expecting it to be a little dry, as I feel like pork chop can sometimes get overcooked, but no. These were so juicy and tender. I asked our server how the pork chop was cooked. Our server said that the pork chops were cooked sous vide, which makes a lot of sense as to how they were so tender. I've already told my spouse if we are in the St. Augustine area again, I would make a special trip just to get these pork chops again, they were that good. I really enjoyed this restaurant. The Bloody Mary is where it lost me. $15 is a serious price for a cocktail, and mine arrived as a tall glass of ice with what was left over poured around it. By the time I was a few sips in, it was mostly meltwater. For that money I'd expect the drink to outlast the ice. Suggestion for the house: given the name, lean into it. Send everyone home with a free bag of ice -- at least then I'd feel like I paid for something I got to keep. Would go back for the food. Would think twice before ordering another cocktail.

It wasn't just brunch; it was an experience. The gorgeous presentation, homemade strawberry butter, warm berry compote, flavorful breakfast potatoes with peppers and onions, and all the little details made it one of those places you can't stop talking about. It left such an impression on us that years later, when planning another trip to St. Augustine, we specifically made sure Surfside Kitchen was on the itinerary. We were so excited to come back. Unfortunately, this visit was nothing like the one we remembered. The food wasn't bad, but it lacked everything that made Surfside special. The beautiful presentation was gone, the berry compote and strawberry butter had disappeared, the potatoes were plain, and the meal just felt... ordinary. The attention to detail and flavor that made this place stand out simply wasn't there. The highlight of our visit was our waitress Tiana, who was ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL. She was kind, attentive, and when we asked what had changed, she explained that the restaurant is under new ownership. That made everything make sense. This isn't written out of anger; it's disappointment. We came back because we remembered how special this place was, and we wanted to experience that again. Sadly, it feels like the Surfside Kitchen we fell in love with no longer exists. I truly wish the new owners the best, but I also hope they realize that people weren't just coming for chicken and waffles; they were coming for an experience. Unfortunately, that's what was missing this time.

We had seen the advertisement on TikTok for somewhere that is dog friendly and decided to give it a whirl. We showed up around 6pm and was quickly seated at a table outside. While it was warm, it didn't feel too hot and was manageable. It took a little while for the server to come to our table, but we recognized that she was busy and we were in no rush anyway. When placing a drink order, I decided to order a margarita and my husband ordered their signature coconut margarita. I ordered a coke, too, as I had a taste for one. The only reason I docked stars was because although they were busy, it was almost as if we were forgotten on a few occasions - one being bringing my coke. I had to ask for it a few times unfortunately. We decided to split some food so we could try different things. We ordered the shrimp cocktail, the chargrilled oysters, and split the fish sandwich. The sauce on the fish sandwich was delicious and the fish of the day was some grouper which was fresh and yummy, too! The chargrilled oyster sauce wasn't my favorite flavor. It almost tasted like a steak sauce, but my husband enjoyed it. This is a cool place both inside and out for a younger crowd to have drinks.
