We have stopped here many times and it's always a nice place to walk in and grab a fresh bite. It's great for adults and kids plus they have a lot of indoor seating. You order at the counter and then go sit down and they will bring it to you. Tried the shrimp nachos this time and they were amazing. Not far from the oldest wooden schoolhouse is this spot on St. George St. You can only access it on foot and there is no parking nearby. This place is definitely not worth a trip there on its own. However, if you're in the historic area already, then you're good to go. Be aware this place is totally open - door, large windows, etc., so if you're looking for somewhere cool to escape the heat, this really isn't it. Plus, because of the open door/windows the place is teeming with flies. Not super fun to battle while you eat. You order at the counter, give you a number, and they bring your order to you (like Culver's if you've ever been there). There's nothing for vegan or plant-based friends without lots of substitutions, so don't bother - too many other food spots around. Okay... so the food. Good. Tasty. My daughter was excited about the shrimp nachos - served on top of blue corn tortilla chip. She found the jalapeños overpowering, but she doesn't love spicy food and easily picked most off. She enjoyed it and was said it was filling. The conch fritters were VERY hot out of the fryer - be wary of that. They were good with large pieces of discernible conch. While out in St. Augustine for a night of fun on the Grinch trolly ride for Nights of lights, my husband decided he needed to eat before we boarded our trolly. We only had a short window of time, approximately 45 mins, in order to make that happen. He chose St. Augustine Seafood Company after a short walk up St. George street. He ordered a mahi basket, fries, & a fountain drink. It took like what seemed forever to get the food after Sasco C. input the order and there were NOT many people in the restaurant that night at 7pm. He finally received his portion of the order at about 7:30. The basket of fries was missing but that was my portion. Once we received that we both had to eat extremely quickly as we had about 20 minutes to board the trolly after that. He took a few bites of the Mahi and it wasn't cooked all the way through! He left more than half of his $24 meal on the plate. NO ONE came to check on us nor ask how the meal was. They seemed too concerned to talk amongst themselves about other things more important than performing their job that they were being paid for! Very thick and lots of clam and potatoes, my favorite! The blackened fish basket was a great portion and came with a side of fries, two fish pieces, and a side of coleslaw. The coleslaw was different than the slaw that I'm used to (no mayo) but it was still delicious. The fish was cooked well and not dry but well seasoned. Finally, I was obsessed with the fries! The fries were nice & crispy. Even tried the Lighthouse Lemonade which was a Peach flavor. That was good & refreshing. Another rainy day in St. Augustine so we took shelter inside this bar. We sat down and the bar tender came up to us and took our order! Glad to know we can order food at the bar side. We shared the Buffalo shrimp and clam chowder fries. The Buffalo shrimp was probably the spiciest buffalo I've ever had - the slaw was dry. The clam chowder fries were delicious and generous. Drinks to go were an old fashion and gin on the rocks. The place is pretty expensive but server was fabulous and the bar was clean and comfortable. Located along St. George Street, "civilian street" which most of the restaurants, shops, and on-foot attractions of old town St. Augustine are located, St. Augustine Seafood Company is another option for food in one of the more prominent touristy parts of the city. Along the same road as other well-known restaurants like Tavern de Caballo and Bull & Crown, The St. Augustine Seafood Company (which I will shorthand SASC for the remainder of this review) is one of two prominent (off the top of my head) local seafood restaurants within the historic and tourist part of the old city. Staying with the theme of the old city, the restaurant has the appearance of an outdoor patio of a hacienda with parts of an inner courtyard. Fits very well with Spanish Floridian architecture at the time. Because the restaurant is somewhat outdoors, take into account the season will either make or break your experience depending on your tolerances to certain weather conditions. True SASC will bring out portable fans or heaters depending on the temperature, but it is still good to know your own preference for eating somewhat outdoors. There is, however, a small section of the restaurant that is representative as part of a small courtyard. This part of the restaurant is the "indoors" section and has better ambient temperature control. As for the service and food, they were good as in good on a common level. This means I would expect such friendliness and helpfulness from the waiters in general and the food, though specifically more seafood fare, is good enough. Waiter kept our drinks filled and kept checking on us. Food was delicious and a $$ price tag meaning between $11 to $30. I had the gator, conch, and Minorcan soup. My dad ordered the burger. My stepmom had the mahi-mahi tacos. As mentioned earlier, they were delicious but did not stand out compared to other seafood options I had at other restaurants. Overall, an averagely good experience in which SASC delivered the core but rarely went above and beyond. Ergo, I would definitely give this restaurant a 3 out of 5 though. More stars will be added if they are consistent at minimum but primarily improving. Sidenote: No restrooms at the restaurant. Since SASC is loacated alog St. George Street, there are numerous public restrooms along it. Its cleanliness is dependent on how the public treats them. read more

Walking thru old historic St Augustine we slid into this restaurant because the menu selections looked yummy and reasonably priced. We weren't disappointed. My wife had the grilled Mahi Mahi but didn't want fries so our server offered a cucumber watermelon salad instead and along with the vinegar coleslaw rounded out a delicious meal for her. The Mahi was fresh and tender with just the right seasoning. I ordered the grilled shrimp, which were plump and juicy and delicious. The fries were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. My guys really enjoyed their lunch (Anchor burger & fried shrimp). My avocado rice bowl with tempeh was ok; I wouldn't order it again though. I'm one of those people who hates cilantro because it tastes like soap, so I made sure to order my meal without the cilantro-lime slaw & requested the regular slaw. It came out without any slaw, not a big deal at all, it's slaw. I ended up only eating the top half of the bowl because either the avocado rice or créma on it, had cilantro in it. The top half of the bowl was more than enough to fill me up, so I definitely didn't leave hungry! We also got an order of hush puppies (they were a special) and while they may've been in the fryer a few seconds too long, they were still really good! The cost, however, was astronomical! Our bill was $92! IMO, that's way too high for two standard meals (a burger & shrimp basket both with fries), an avocado rice bowl, hushpuppies, two drinks, and a water. All in all, I recommend this place, but be prepared to open your wallet. read more

Also must add that this is the only place where the cashier automatically set the tip to 0% on the pay screen. I tipped them in cash anyway for their service and friendly demeanor. My girlfriend ordered the Grilled Shrimp , and it only came with 8 shrimp and a little handful of fries. For $20 8 shrimp is way too little. I ordered the fresh catch for $24 I got 2 pieces of fish and little handful of fries. The crema slaw doesn't taste good and just looks depressing. I am always going to recommend St. Augustine Seafood Company. It's located in the Colonial Oak "complex" and offers a counter-service option, bar seating option and seated dining experience. There are also picnic tables outside under the oaks with a stage for live music, as well as a couple of walk-up bars. Super fun. The menu is not huge, but offers fresh oysters, two kinds of chowder, seafood baskets (grilled, fried, or blackened) and sandwiches. Get the chowder fries. It's the best of both worlds if you want to try and don't feel like committing to a whole soup order. Honestly, the fried shrimp basket and the Fish and chips burrito are two of our favorites. Everything is flavorful with just enough breading. For fried meals, neither one is heavy. Fries are always crisp and yummy, and cilantro slaw is fresh. The shrimp po'boy I ordered from here was a miss for me - a po'boy starts with the right kind of bread and this was not it. They served theirs on some kind of elongated ciabatta roll just too heavy. The shrimps were pretty nice, but I feel this one was not "dressed" properly - the lettuce, tomato and onions just felt off. The fries were well made. They have a few entrances along St. George - one with a bar and the take out counter and some outdoor seating. I ordered at the counter, was given a number and the food was brought to the table - they were not busy at the time of my visit so everything went smooth. This place is small and unassuming. But the food was great, fresh seafood, service was prompt and friendly. No AC, so keep that in mind for hotter days. The place I wanted to take some out of town visitors didn't open til 5pm and we were downtown for lunch... would 10/10 go back here for seafood picks now that I've tried it out.
