This review concerns the music booking at the dockside bar. Conch House is one of our favorite places, often there are full bands on Fridays, which should be the case always, versus a single musician. It is such a beautiful and fun environment for Friday happy hours and that deserves a full proper band/entertainment. However, it seems there is often booking of solo acts on Fridays which is very disappointing and questionable. Solo booking is likely a profit play that will cause long-term patrons like us to go elsewhere. It is simple--Don't kill your golden goose, book only full bands on Friday. read more

We were in town for a long weekend for a concert and planned to come here from dinner before we went back home. It came highly recommended from locals and online. Restaurant was easy to find and close to our hotel, plenty of parking. When we walked up, the views were nice as it's on the water. Nice signage. We walked in and were able to get seated inside right away (it was raining out otherwise we would have sat outside) but they sat us at a window seat so that was nice. Our server came by soon after, was attentive and friendly the rest of the evening. Appetizers - We ordered the gator tail and calamari. That must have been THE most tender calamari I've ever had! The breading was also very good and light - and the pepper sauce they give with it... wow very good! The gator was also very tender and good! Entrees - I ordered the Butter Rum Scallops and my husband ordered the Shrimp & Grits. My first bite of my entree was heavenly... I REALLY enjoyed it. It was sooooo good. That butter rum was something else. Scallops were perfectly cooked. My husbands was very good too - great flavor!! The grits were perfect. Then we ordered a Key Lime Pie to go (way too stuffed to eat it there lol!) but when we had some later that night... probably our favorite key lime pie ever! The consistency of it was like jelly like and it was SUPER good! Overall - a 10/10 experience here! We're locals and this was our first time here, we took my parents as they came for a visit for my birthday. Ambience is really cool. Perfect for a casual night out. Bar was hopping, live music. It's giving outdoor tiki which we loved. Food was decent, on par with every other seafood restaurant in Florida. Our waitress was great. On to the negatives - the hostess stand and or management is disorganized. Came up at 8:20 and asked for a table of 4. We inquired about an over water tiki hut and were told they stop seating those at 8pm because it gets dark. That's fine. Was told a 45 min wait, we agreed to join the list through yelp. We asked for first available, indoor or outdoor. On the plus side, the wait ended up being closer to 30 mins. However, there were tons of free tables the entire time we waited. Tiki huts were empty. The whole inside only had 2 tables sat. We asked to see a menu while we waited and got an audible sigh and eye roll. When our table was called, the hostess called 4 other groups at the same exact time, leading to a lot of confusion. As we are sitting and eating (it's now 9:30) a couple walks in. They're led to a table on the patio and asks to go into a tiki hut instead, which they are promptly sat in after they clean it off. So we asked our waitress, what's the deal! She said oh just ask the hostess and they can put you on the list for those huts. So not sure what happened. Overall- ambience 8/10 Food 7/10 Service (waitress) 10/10 Management (hostess) 4/10 Not sure if we'll go back because of the disorganization, unnecessary wait times, and rude hostesses. read more

The Conch House Restaurant was great. We arrived expecting a long wait, they said 25-35 minutes, and took us less than ten to get seated. Our waitress was wonderful, her name escapes me, but she was great. I had the Minorcan Smash burger, which was great! Mark had the nights special of a grilled fish (mahi?) It was wonderful! Came out to see a band play and it was a time! In all the years I've been in the area I had never really been to see a band here! The drinks were great. And some were quite a heavy pour... if you're into that kind of thing. And the lines in the bar area out back went pretty quick and the service was lovely. However the food was a different story. We were told a certain amount of time and it ended up being about double that. I heard the same story from others as well. We had to order basically "to go" inside and wait and take it outside to our table. Fine process. But LONG. The food was pretty good tho. Can't rush tasty food. It would just be nice to have a more accurate time. If you say 15 mins I'll just wait there. But when it's nearing 40 mins and now I've missed some of the band - that's a bummer. I would have just gone back out and came back to check in. Idk. There has to be a better process there somewhere. It won't keep me away tho! read more

Places like this used to be dotted all along the FL coast. Now they are few & far between, but luckily Conch House remains a bastion of calm, charm and hospitality. This was supposed to be a girls' getaway (which it would have been perfect for) but unfortunately I ended up having to attend a funeral in town so only slept here. The room was clean, comfortable, and had a beautiful updated shower. Everyone I encountered provided great hospitality though (front desk & I grabbed a piece of key lime pie right before the restaurant closed). I look forward to returning so I can enjoy the amenities and location to the fullest. read more

The calamari and shrimp bake were our starters and were very hot and fresh! I had the island hopper salad with blackened salmon and it was SOOO good, the perfect summer salad. This is the spot if you want to dine by the water. Amazing views, great service, cute decor, and good food. My dad and I came for an early dinner on the patio and later discovered there's a separate bar area right out on the dock. They don't serve food out there, just drinks, but it's such a cool space. It felt like a little nautical speakeasy. I ordered a Caesar salad with blackened chicken and honestly wasn't too impressed. My dad got the conch club and the flavors were great. The chicken on his sandwich was actually more tender than the chicken on my salad. We also ordered a side of hush puppies, which I usually don't go for since I'm not from the South, but they were surprisingly really good. We went on a slower weeknight, but I was impressed by how massive the parking lot is. It definitely seems like they can handle a big crowd. Great place for a nice dinner. We came here around 6 pm on Saturday. They don't take reservations. We were seated immediately. It was a cold rainy day so we sat inside. They have a nice menu with different options. I had market fish tacos. They were pretty good. Fish was fresh and cooked well. Service was friendly and attentive. They also have some unique drinks. Ambiance is laid back. We also ordered smoothie for our child and that wasn't good at all. Was pure sugar, and seems like was made from some premade stuff and not from fresh fruit. This used to be my absolute favorite restaurant. Still in top ten but the wait is always forever and you can almost never get a hut anymore it seems. I've not had any issues with service except there is one bartender (guy) that's a little rude. He works out on the dock when they have live music. To be fair they are always very busy. There are neat "high rise" dining areas on the outside deck and spacious indoor dining though the indoors can be a bit noisy depending on the parties dining there. Staff is friendly and very efficient. We started with a cup of their World Famous Minorcan Conch Chowder that is spicy, tangy, and delicious! Our Banana Pepper Calamari was a crispy delight. My Fried Shrimp Platter was so good, I ate it all. Normally have to take some home from getting too full. Not today, this was too darned good and I totally stuffed myself. My husband's Caribbean Chicken Sandwich was just as good. This is a great place to take a date, friends and family, or even a group of party goers. This restaurant is an absolute dump to begin with.. there's birds flying all over and stealing your food. I have a service dog that I have brought for years to this place and for some reason the "karen" manager all the sudden has a problem with it.. wish I would of got her actual name, but for now she's just your typical karen and breaking out her little rule book to try and explain non sense to me. don't go to this roach infested establishment. The service sucks and they have a bunch of inconsiderate little 20 year olds that are completely clueless working there. And to the 45 year old manager again who tried to tell me how I can't have a service dog there you possibly are the most brainless human I have ever encountered.. no wonder why your old ass is 45 and still work at a restaurant. read more

We have been wanting to try The Conch house and there is usually always a wait. We happened to be in town on a weekday and thought we would give it a try. It was a great idea! No wait, fast friendly service. I ended up with a shrimp salad wrap with cucumber and onion salad. We started off with cracked conch. Everything was great - fresh and very satisfying. We loved the hot sauce that was provided and honestly preferred it to the banana pepper sauce. No matter how busy they are the wait is usually not that long unless you're waiting for a palapa table, and you can always go down to the end of the pier and get a drink and sometimes there's a Caribbean reggae band playing down there. Get a tropical drink and check out the crow's nest. Fabulous views of the marina, and if you have a boat, even better, tie up for lunch. The menu is pretty standard I would say nothing special, but I sort of feel that way about most of the restaurants in town. The clam chowder however was DELICIOUS, and I could've just stopped there and been as happy as a ... We've been here many times and the service is always next level. These servers have a really tough job running up and down those stairs with giant trays and they're always super friendly and attentive. They must do extra service training with their people and it shows. It's really a perfect place to go on a sunny day. read more

This is a great place to have a drink and/or getting a bite to eat. We had no wait time for a table. We got a table outside with a nice view. Our waitress was a ball of energy. Great recommendation from a local! Started with a great rum runner, add the dark rum floater! Fried conch app, then had the conch chowder, entree was the flounder(Salt Run Catch style, amazing!), and finished with the key lime pie. My wife and I split the entree and dessert and we were both very full! Great service by a local waitress that gave great advice. And the vibe was low key and very relaxing! We come to Saint Augustine every year for a week and stay at the beach and several years ago. We went to the house and just were very disappointed. Haven't been back until this week. The appetizers which we had was wings were pretty good but the shrimp tacos were extremely overcooked, and one of our fried shrimp plates was very undercooked. It was doughy and not set. We got there at 2 pm on a Monday, no line, or wait-list. We were told that no one was in front of us, she was just waiting for a hostess to come back to seat us. She took my name and number and I received confirmation of being #2 in line for a table. We waited 20 minutes, 4 groups came and were seated. I checked my wait-list status and received a message that I was no longer on the list. I think they messed up and didn't want to just tell me. I went inside to inquire on how much longer and why I couldn't access my wait-list status (even though I was told there was no one in front of us).... & we were immediately seated, at a table directly in the sun. I should have requested a different spot. The waitress was very sweet and attentive. The smoked fish dip was not good. The shrimp tacos were pretty good. Our experience was disappointing overall. Our server, Erica, was quite slow throughout the meal and never informed our table that an automatic gratuity had already been added to the bill. Because of that, everyone in our party tipped on top of the included gratuity, resulting in us being charged double tip without realizing it until afterward. When we requested a printed itemized receipt to review the charges, Erica disappeared and we had to ask another server for assistance. The food was good, but the service and lack of transparency surrounding the gratuity overshadowed the meal. To management's credit, they did follow up afterward to address the issue, which we appreciated. However, customers should be clearly informed when gratuity is automatically added so situations like this do not happen. read more

Instead of normal fries they do wedges and they were the best I have ever, yes ever, had. Served with a nice cold slaw. Try the key lime pie .... great. I thought it was extremely rude to walk around the dining areas, make direct eye contact with your customers and not offer some sort of acknowledgment.
