WARNING: Prices advertised are different than what they charge you!!! Hosts graciously accommodated a party of 11 without a reservation, however we were sat at a table for 10. The Pesca Punch cocktail comes in a cute puffer fish cup but is premade so no substitutes can be made such as a juice removed for an allergy. Not sure if all cocktails are premade. The Yucca Croquettes were good but 5 of them were $10 which is not worth it. The sides offered are tater tot's served with peri peri sauce and French fries. I asked if I could get the peri peri sauce with the fries they said yes but did not mention it was cost over a dollar. At the end of the day the views are nice, food is good but charging average of 30¢ more for each item than advertised with additional tax does not sit well with me. read more

I visited Pesca Vilano (rooftop) for the second time a few weeks ago. I took my sister for her birthday prior to our Red Boat sunset tour. We took the elevator up to the top floor. It had just rained so the hostess wiped down out seats and table before we were seated. The view was amazing! We could see St Augustine's Harbor on one side and the Atlantic Ocean (Vilano Beach) on the other side. And there was still a nice breeze from the recent storm. We started with drinks. I ordered the grapefruit guava tequila seltzer and my sister ordered a fruity drink lol. And we had happy hour prices so it was a good night;) We ordered several happy hour food menu items. We started with the chicken sliders and braised shortrib empanadas. My sister's favorite was the sliders and mine was the empanadas. However both were yummy! The chicken was fried and the pimento cheese made it next level! But the short rib meat was so decadent and delicious! One of the best empanadas I've ever tasted! Our last order consisted of firecracker shrimp and chicken sliders. As I said it was my sister's favorite and it was her birthday so she got to pick. The firecracker shrimp was good but probably my least favorite of the three we tried. Not because it didn't taste good but because shrimp is my least favorite seafood. The waiter didn't know what they had for happy hour (small plates) and He did the diligence but couldn't find menus with it. Friday night party of 4 Beautiful evening for sitting outdoors at the rooftop bar. They had a wonderful group providing the music making the whole experience that much more. My previous experiences have had extremely slow service but not tonight. Everything was on point. We were approached with waters @10 min or less of our seating. Server approached us & we put in our drink AND food order based on past experience . Both came out super quick. Our group ordered a bunch of small plates to share including guacamole, fish dip, spicy tuna tacos. Everything was delicious. My husband ordered fish tacos as a main & also some cheese croquettes. These were the only disappointment. They were round (barley ) fried balls with tasteless cheese inside. Everything else was great. The drinks were so good & came in some fun glasses. What a gorgeous spot to spend an afternoon. Loved the vintage vibe in this establishment with its Art Nouveau design and quality liquor selection. We were on Vilano Beach on holiday and met friends here for a drink and had an exceptional experience. The bartender was one of the best I've encountered, and I'm a bit of a (honestly big) craft cocktail boozer, so I've seen my fair share of great barkeeps, but this gal was so sweet and did an outstanding job with the smoked Old Fashioned I got for my husband. I had a Patron margarita and loved it. My experience at this bar has made me decide to stay in this Hyatt next trip to Vilano. read more

How can anyone complain about a great rooftop bar & restaurant overlooking Vilano Beach? Coke made great cocktails, a pesca old fashioned with rum & whiskey and a mango caipirinha for the lady- not too sweet as promised. The breeze, supplemented by strategically placed fans, cooled the Florida afternoon. the incoming storm meant the sun was shielded partly by rain clouds. the ocean waves were white and foamy at low tide. the aroma from the kitchen was mouthwatering and the "simple" appetizers were taken next level under the expertise of local Chef Michael. fish dip topped with fresh micro greens and pickled onion paired perfectly with Everything flats and a squeeze of fresh lemon for me. I have so many thoughts about Pesca. We started on the roof for a few cocktails, prior to our dinner reservation. The rooftop is beautiful and we scored a wonderful table large enough for our group. I shared a bottle of the Prosecco with friends and a few other girls chose very fun cocktails! Cocktails we tried: Vilano Vixen, Mermaid Tears, and Flor de spina. All of them were fantastic but the Vilano Vixen was my favorite. For our dinner reservation, we had a lovely table. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful. We started with most of the starters. I personally had the mushroom gyoza. Holy smokes, it was fantastic!!! Honestly I liked it better than my entree. I also enjoyed the salmon, it was equally delicious. Several of us chose the scallops and one of the girls got a vegan risotto dish. It was packed with flavor. The scallops were good but for the price tag, I think we were expecting a little more flavor. However, We were very pleased overall with the aesthetic & presentation our meals. For dessert, we had the mousse and the peach. Both were very tasty, however paired with a very hefty price tag for dessert at $15 each without a serving that necessitates that cost IMO. We have been to the rooftop a couple of times and really enjoyed the sea breeze and views. I've heard the indoor first floor restaurant closed. I can see why it might have not done well because the hotel lobby is too institutional and the restaurant felt too enclosed and not enough light coming in. Unless you are staying in the hotel, I'm not sure you would want to make the indoor restaurant your destination. The rooftop on the otherhand is unique and inviting. We were there when a DJ was playing. Super fun to dance a little. The drinks are great. Check out the Pina Azul. The food is excelent. Try the Mexican shrimp coctel, beet tartare, and baja fish sandwich. Service was a little chaotic when it is crowded. read more

Pesca has a lot to offer here, with two distinct experiences depending upon your tastes. The upstairs rooftop bar area offers a lot of space, creatively prepared drinks and appetizers, and a beautiful view of the Atlantic. My wife and I enjoyed dinner at the main restaurant on the lobby level, and had a great time. The entrees were perfectly prepared, and I think I had the best seared scallops I've had in a long time. Service was excellent and the manager, Chelsea I came over to check on us periodically as well. Prices are reasonable for the area, and this is a higher-end restaurant despite being in a Hyatt place hotel. The vibe was engaging, with Spanish / Latin instrumental music in the background throughout the meal and the restaurant is wonderfully decorated. It was a terrific experience, and we'll certainly be back. read more

NO SERVICE from Pesca Vilano. I added one star to post the review, but it receive ZERO. I am a Saint Augustine resident and live within 3 miles of the rooftop bar and have frequented it regularly since it originally opened. Tonight I made plans to listen to the band Vegas Gray with my friends a group of 7 total . I arrive at 5:35 to find no host at the desk. I stood there for 5-7 minutes as people walked past me, before I walked past myself and went to find a seating area large enough for the group that was coming. For 45 minutes we had NO SERVICE -- no one from the restaurant approached us. Period. When my friend from South Africa went to the hostess desk, she was met with a manager who was condescending and rude and told her to go sit down and when everyone else was served, they would come out and help us. We asked her if they took her name or number and she said no, so I went up there and talked to the hostess. They couldn't find my friend or me on their list. Several minutes later the manager I asked to speak to came to the desk. The young man was rude and nasty and despite our 45 minute wait refused to even put us on the list after having told my friend he would quite a while before! But his hostess never originally followed through. I questioned him with my SA friend standing next to me about their conversation, and questioned why the people that walked in in front of me without a hostess had a table and server the manager, became flustered and said that we could all leave so the group of us for who had already arrived texted the other three and we all left. I live 3 miles away from this restaurant/bar and this has been one of my favorite spots since the day they opened, but I'm will not be treated in that manner. I will not go back. If a restaurant is that busy and they want you to wait to be seated, they should have sufficient staff to accommodate the customers I should not have sat there for nearly 10 minutes without a hostess arriving. My group of 6 was not the only group to leave. We walked across the street to the little café Surfside in the strip mall by the Publix grocery store and have had a phenomenal waitress, phenomenal service drinks, and good food!! read more

I don't understand how this place is still open. This is the food I received for dinner at Pesca back in May. It was supposed to be their baked chicken entree. (The red is from beets just to be clear). It was never remedied. The overall vibe of the staff reminds me of that of a high school. Their menu is way over priced including $7 for a Michelob Ultra. This is a charming and upscale restaurant in the lobby of a hotel. Adding to his restaurant empire, Chef Micheal brings a Miami vibe with Japanese and Caribbean flavors. Lots of small bites are available on the menu. The food is beautifully plated - it's a feast for the eyes and the tongue. It's not super allergy-friendly. The staff is very accommodating in navigating the menu for gluten-free and dairy-free options, but it's very limited. This restaurant was expensive, so all the GF/DF options were expensive. My bill was $100+ for a cocktail, an appetizer, and an entree. Honestly, I left hungry. There are not enough filling ingredients in the dishes to choose from. Parking was easy in the off-season, but I'm sure it gets more challenging in the summer. read more

New restaurant and much to learn and take in before it can be rated a 5 star from me. We were staying at the hotel so wanted to just keep close, so we booked here for an 8pm dinner. Upon entering the restaurants name made it feel upscale until we got inside I got the feel of a 'hospital cafeteria' & I would know what that's like since I am there quite frequently. It was loud, there were regular looking four seater tables scattered throughout, a booth area with a beautiful creamish material headboard. Nonetheless it was hard to hear my date. Menu was short, not much of a selection that stood out to me. Salads there were only two options: I chose the Beet Tarte I really thought it was going to be heavy on the arugula but no it was a fancy round of chopped beats with a burst of citrus in every pop of pear (don't quote me) and a finish of goat cheese. SUPER!!! Wine was good, so were cocktails, our total came out to $176.79. We also had a Hazelnut Tres Leches Cake to-go (recommendation from our waiter) and a Cappuccino (starbucks brew). Now our food took over an hour to come out, we were informed by our awesome waiter Paul (manager please recognize him for his OUTSTANDING customer service & hospitality) ;he apologized frequently for the wait, checked in regularly, was really on top of it. That quality is frequently overlooked with new upcoming restauarants. Same for the cappuccino to-go bar tender didn't know how to use the espresso machine so it took a bit until someone who knew came. Ambiance: 8 of 10 Service: 10 of 10 Wait Time: 3 of 10 Food Quality: 9 of 10 Prices: 8 of 10 We will wait some time, and then give Pesca another try. Beautiful place, drinks top notch service was good and she was very descriptive. The food is good don't get me wrong. But is it of the caliber of what I thought it would be or for the price. No. We had the roasted oysters, and the baked Camembert and the pinchos for apps. The oysters were small but they seemed to enjoy. The cheese was yummy but was over baked and all over the plate instead of contained. The pinchos had good flavor but I assumed they would be more grilled and traditional. Almost seemed fried or boiled in consistency. For meals the lobster paella and the roast chicken. Paella was very pretty but not the presentation I think it should be. Maybe serve in skillet so more traditional the chicken was moist and good but no Latin flair with it just traditional chicken. And the skin coulda been crisper. The maduros I ordered were very good. This restaurant is located in the new Hyatt Place hotel in Vilano Beach. We figured we would finally give it a try. So glad we did. The space is beautiful with plenty of artistic touches, bookshelves with pretty items on them, plants, and light fixtures. The menu has about twenty appetizers, eight entrees and two sandwiches. We started with the harissa hummus plate. It was a beautiful presentation of harissa hummus, warm pita bread, marinated olives, house pickles, pickled cauliflower and onions, and carrots. We loved it. For entrees, we had the beef filet and the scallops. The beef filet was accompanied by charred onion whipped potatoes, baby bok choy, tamarind demi, and parmesan frico. The scallops came with charred corn succotash, smoked tomatoes, and edamame. It was also delicious. We were too full for dessert but maybe next time. We also took a peek at the rooftop bar. We have stayed at the Hyatt at Vilano several times but only just recently visited the rooftop bar last weekend. We sat at the bar and ordered a couple of tasty beverages and listened to the live music. The bartender was friendly, and quick to greet and serve us and checked on us frequently. Very calm and inviting atmosphere. We had already eaten dinner earlier so we did not order anything off the menu but plan to next time (seeing lumpia on the menu alone, was enough to convince us)! We were especially grateful for the view of the gorgeous sunset looking over The Florida School for the Deaf and Blind (we had just dropped our son off to begin the new school year and were kind of in our feelings about it ). read more

This place and their management are an absolute joke. Katherine and Alison have no idea what they are doing. Pesca is refusing to refund us a bill of about $120.00 because they don't believe the food poisoning came from them (a drop in the bucket IF a restaurant is doing well). Of course they are going to deny that! The right thing as a business is to refund us anyway. If a customer is truly insisting that they had a terrible time at your establishment, then you make it right. I have never had more of a poor customer service interaction with any business/person ever. Again, if you read further in my review, I've never even left a review in my entire life! They did not consistently communicate or follow up whatsoever. The past two weeks, I have probably called and left messages 3-4 times as well as my husband. ONLY WHEN I CALLED THE HOTEL WAS I ABLE TO GET THROUGH. Alison and Katherine - tell me how the six people got sick and that is the only thing they ate in common, while the rest of us did not get sick and did not eat it? Tell me how we had all been together several days prior without incident? Tell me how it is not food poisoning when the type of sickness and symptoms exactly matched and came on at the same time? Fine, you don't want to own up to it, how about the other fundamental issues you display? Tell me from a customer service standpoint why you never returned my calls and it took me contacting the hotel to get ahold of you? I want to add that I agree with the most recent other 1 star review. When our party got up there, one of the first things the bartenders said was we could not order food through them. We would have to go downstairs, order, then wait and bring it up in to-go containers. It was also completely empty besides our party at the time - 4PM Nights of Lights? How about you refund us for that? For the fact you advertise as a rooftop restaurant, but the customer has to do the work for the food by going downstairs to what is essentially a separate restaurant to order takeout and bring it up? Friday 12/13/24, myself, my husband, and 14 of our closest friends and family (2 being young children) went to Pesca rooftop bar around 4PM to 5:15PM. For backstory, my husband Sebastian is born and raised in Saint Augustine and I went to Flagler. Sebastian and I have been together 8 years and we currently live in Massachusetts. He proposed last December and we began planning a very small, intimate ceremony with only the people mentioned above. It was an amazing night and we were so excited to get married the next day (12/14/24) with these same people by our sides. Instead, of our 14 guests - 6 of them got SEVERE food poisoning, from of all things chicken tenders. One was my 4 year old nephew who is now scared to eat a full meal. Another was my brother in law who couldn't even get out of bed. All three of my sisters got it, one of which is a Type 1 diabetic that contemplated going to the hospital. And finally my dad, who was our officiant and could barely make it through the 20 minute ceremony but did it for us. Again of the 16 people we had planned a YEAR to have this weekend with, 6 of them were severely food poisoned by Pesca. They threw up basically the entire contents of their bodies, didn't sleep, now have extreme guilt, are still recovering days later, could not make any other weekend festivities including our wedding dinner, could not be fully present for the any of the day basically and I do not blame them one bit. Sebastian and I will never get this weekend back or what we had dreamed it to be. I warn everyone that either the staff or kitchen is not equipped for proper food safety and this could easily happen again. We started with a lovely salad of burrata with peaches and pesto and an order of focaccia - we all loved it. Delicious scallops with roasted corn and edamame succotash was enjoyed by two of us four. Smash burger with caramelized onions was satisfying, tater tots good but u remarkable. Blackened swordfish special on forbidden rice was somewhat disappointing, it was served lukewarm. One who ordered it said it would be better reheated in microwave and it will be for lunch tomorrow. Coquito tres leches dessert shared four ways was good, surely the best in St. Augustine but Miami tres leches have nothing to worry about. Our waiter Charlie was very nice and tolerated the wise guy in our group with good humor. He was attentive and informative and his dessert suggestion was perfect.
