This place we went to on a whim and it actually worked out for the better! They had more good food on their menu as oppose to the restaurant that we initially planned to go to. Service was fast! We sat outside and we were able to see the water and the sailboats. It was really nice. I got the river and fort burger but with the plant burger with fries. It was delicious! I ate half at the restaurant and the other half on the beach. Definitely wouldn't mind coming back here! Overall great place, good food and vibes!

Another great River and Fort experience. Came with a large group and visited the rooftop for drinks and apps on a busy Saturday. We hung out for awhile and had great service. Food was limited to the rooftop menu but everything was delicious.

Special of the night herb butter, crispy zucchini

Great first time experience dining at here. Please make sure you make reservations, especially during special event holidays such as the night of lights we were able to get a table for two after waiting, but if you're a large party, you need a reservation! Our waiter was slammed with tables, but it was really great service as he communicated that putting our orders in would lead to shorter wait times which I really appreciate. We ordered a bottle of Meiomi Pinot Noir, and for appetizers we started with the fried green tomatoes. They came out crispy and fresh. They also had a goat cheese topping with pickled vegetables, and chili sauce. We were seated upstairs overlooking a window, which was a great view of the street and all the lights as well as the river. It was a very lively night with every table full, and the bar was packed! For entrée we split the special of the night, which was a ribeye that came with diced potatoes and crispy zucchini strips. For dessert, we got the chocolate mousse which was refreshing. Overall, it was a great evening with delicious food and atmosphere will definitely be back to try other dishes in the off-season

Hummingbird cake

We were in Saint Augustine, and we had never tried this restaurant. The restaurant is gorgeous inside. We sat upstairs which we could see the water. There is an elevator that they take you up. Sean our server was very sweet and personable. Every dish we tried was delicious and fresh ingredients were definitely used. I recommend the cannonball shrimp and calamari to start. The shrimp and lobster pasta was delicious as well as mac & cheese. But the hummingbird cake was a wonderful way to end the meal. The entire staff was so nice. In fact we went back and had drinks later in the evening just because it was one of our favorite places we had been to in Saint Augustine. I would definitely go back.

The location was super cute and the food was amazing.. we did had to wait longer than expected but we got a great table outside and we got serviced fairly quickly .. the one thing I wish was a better feedback was our server .. who literally said " yelp reviews are not even worth it , and that they don't care about them . Kinda rude after he noticed me looking at the menu on yelp .. but ok .. worth give them a chance . Our server was Joffrey .

We stopped in for an after-dinner drink and to take in the water view from the rooftop. The server was prompt and super friendly. They have a nice selection of wine by the glass. There are many seating venues to enjoy.

FRENCH DIP - Roast Beef, French Bread, Caramelized Onions, Provolone, Au Jus, Hand-Cut Fries
John R.

Had an early dinner here. The FRIED GREEN TOMATOES - Goat Cheese, Crispy Bacon, Pickled Vegetables, Sweet Datil Chili Sauce were probably a lot better than average. My main of FRENCH DIP - Roast Beef, French Bread, Caramelized Onions, Provolone, Au Jus, Hand-Cut Fries, was very enjoyable. The location is great -- out of the way, still close enough to everything, basically on the water. The major fail they had was a shift meeting. Okay, shift meetings happen but the table servers bringing water to the tables while the meeting is going on need to be trained a little better. When asking for something other than flat water the response that was coming back is, "we are not allowed to do that." What? Okay, I guess that is in reference to the shift meeting, and though it is probably literally correct, it is just a bad vibe for people sitting frustrated at tables.

Our dinner at River & Fort was amazing. We made reservations in advance and didn't have to wait. The ambiance of the whole restaurant had an awesome vibe. The service was wonderful and our waitress was attentive and kind. Absolutely everything we ordered tasted delicious. We got the special "secret" bread and it was just as good as I remembered. We will definitely be back.

A NY Strip from a low rent meat facility with shrimp from a frozen bag from Costco or Sam's! Please go to culinary school:

HERE RIGHT NOW!!! Very very LOUD!!! Omgoodness request to be seated outside. Rooftop is PACKED AND ECHOING!! Invest in ceiling sound absorbers (look it up). Food is okay! Had the sticky ribs; ok just like a vendor from the food truck: French Onion soup OK had sage in it? Don't know why? But it was ok. Our server Myra was EXCELLENT! Ok the stuffed NY Strip had 2 large shrimp like from Sam's or Costco with 2 HEAPINGS of Boursin chive & spice cheese! Our the cooks watching NASTY YouTube videos! Anyways I go to a butcher to buy meat not the local Piggly Wiggly! Terrible and Not worth the price! River & Fort = an Ok food truck Do NOT EAT HERE!

Double cut pork chop.
Pat B.

My food was not so great, although the wedge salad was very good. had the double pork chop with apples, collard greens, and baked beans. No complaints on the chop...it was cooked perfectly. The sides, however, looked used and abused, as if they had been reheated three or four times. I didn't eat them at all, so all I had was meat for dinner. My companion had a seafood fisherman's platter (broiled) over rice with a beurre blanc sauce which she said was delicious. The ambiance was less than impressive. I sat facing a wall. She sat looking out over the restaurant at the other patrons. It was very, very noisy. The prices were what you'd expect from an upscale tourist restaurant...$$$. My dinner companion said she would definitely return. I think I just ordered the wrong dish and sat in the wrong seat!

New York strip stuffed with shrimp and a magical cheese sauce
Bill C.

If you enjoy fine dining, this is your destination location. They have a very upscale interior.. everyone I enjoyed meeting on their staff. seems like they were professionally handpicked for their excellence in customer service. The executive chef has their menu packed with a diversity in culinary delights. My favorite was the New York strip perfectly cooked, stopped with delicious shrimp and some kind of magical cheese sauce. I don't know if anywhere else one might find this on their menu. They have a lively bar scene just about every night with lots of friendly locals and of course, the best bartenders you could find anywhere in town .

My husband and I were in town for a weekend getaway and my dad recommended River and Fort for a nice romantic dinner. We had a beautiful time. We were seated upstairs with a partial view of the water and no view of the fort. We were hoping for a better seat and this is our biggest complaint. In our reservation made over a week earlier, I had noted we were there for a romantic special occasion, so I guess I had expected them to seat us a little better. The calamari was very good and I liked the peppers mixed in. EXCELLENT old fashioned. My husbands chicken was a well rounded southern dish but there was nothing "dumpling" about it. The braised short ribs were tender but a touch too salty. Dessert was fabulous. it's hard to mess up anything with fruit, pastry, and ice cream. Our server was great. We had a beautiful dinner and would recommend this place to others looking for a nice southern style meal.

We chose to sit outside, and it truly could not have been more perfect. The setting felt like something out of a postcard--comfortable shade, a gentle breeze, lush greenery all around, and even birds flying nearby. It created such a relaxing, almost magical atmosphere that made us want to linger and soak it all in. The food was just as impressive. Every dish was full of flavor and beautifully prepared. We especially loved the Cajun flair throughout the menu--it really delivers on bold, authentic taste. The white staff was completely on point--attentive, friendly, and genuinely added to the overall experience without ever feeling intrusive. Between the incredible food, the charming outdoor ambiance, and the exceptional service, this was easily one of the highlights of our time in St. Augustine. We will absolutely be back!

We lucked out and found street parking. On a weekend night, wait was about 30 minutes. The bar served a delicious mule while we waited. We ended up sitting outside and really enjoyed the (not too loud) live music underneath the string lights. It made for quite the comforting ambience. Our server Gabby was fantastic! She was very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. She made great recommendations and definitely made the experience for us. Prices were so affordable! I don't know anywhere else you can get two lobster tails for $37.99 with a side! TWO! Majority of entrees were $20-$30 with plenty of under $20 options as well. We received complimentary bread with butter prior to the meal and the in-house butter was DELICIOUS. I believe it was onion butter or something and we definitely inhaled it. For starters, I loved the calamari and the Louisiana fondeaux. The blue crab claws were just ok. The horseradish mayonnaise definitely made it more appetizing. For entree, I opted for the crab crusted redfish royale. This thing was a monster. The crab cake smashed on top was absolutely delicious and best part of my meal. Everything else was just too much cream and felt overpowering and heavy. Fish was lost in it all. My husband's shrimps and scallops orleans was much better balanced dish. My brother really enjoyed his shrimp scampi and my mom enjoyed her ribeye. The lobster tails were massive and delicious. Everyone loved the NOLA rice. At the end, we got the fried Oreos (Oreo beignets) which made everyone loosen their waistbands. We all left feeling way too full with plenty of leftovers for the next day. Definitely a win for our seafood loving family!

Catch 27 - St. Augustine, FL…read more Came to St. Augustine with a group and Catch 27 was suggested for dinner. Great choice. I checked the Yelp reviews ahead of time and it definitely lived up to them. People in our group started with drinks and everyone at the table seemed happy with what they ordered. I had the red wine braised beef brisket for my main and it was excellent, very tender and full of flavor. My friend Damon next to me had the red snapper and I tried some of that too. Also very good. Someone else at the table had the Rockefeller crusted snapper and that looked and tasted great as well. For appetizers, I had the shaved pear and blue cheese salad. It was really good and honestly enough for two people to share as an appetizer. People at the table also ordered the Devils on Horseback and liked them. I do not eat bacon, but they were happy with that dish. The deviled eggs with southern fried oysters looked really good, and I had the smoked salmon spread, which was very good too. I also saw the shrimp and grits come out for someone else and that dish looked excellent. For dessert, I had the sticky toffee pudding and it was a strong finish to the meal. Others at the table ordered the seasonal crème brûlée, which was chocolate that night. It looked great and everyone who had it said it was very good. Sunny was our waitress and she did an exceptional job. Attentive, kind, and on top of everything the whole night. In my mind this is about a 4.7 star experience, and I am rounding it up to a full 5 stars. Catch 27 is a great choice in St. Augustine.

I ordered a sangria but our drinks took a very long time to come out, after our appetizer (crab, an heirloom tomato bruschetta which was yummy and more filling than regular bruschetta!) Overall, the food was really good and waitress was nice, but water was never refilled and everything took a really long time to come out. Would love to try it again on a regular night and hopefully they have the entrees we wanted to try:)
