Great small steak house restaurant in the Butler/Crescent Beach area. They serve more than elk steaks. You can also get ahi tuna and a delicious Cioppino! Pretty good specials, too. I enjoyed a hanger steak special with a nice Cab that I still dream about. No reservations so you might have to wait. Everything except for the chicken dishes were absolutely amazing and the 2 chicken entrees weren't bad, they just were not great. Worth noting, if you want liquor, this is not your place. Our server forgot to mention the specials or that the "cocktails" were mocktails. When we rolled up to The packed parking lot and saw this little A framed place I was somewhat skeptical that we were going to get a table. Luckily, they said there would be one in less than 30 mins. We walked in and saw a bunch of people looking like they were loving their meal. The walls slanted and almost to the back of the heads of many of the clientelle was interesting. I knew this might be an issue with me being tall, but I had the let the older ladies that I was dining with sit in the other side so they could easily get to the bathroom if needed. Both of the tuna and the fried shrimp appetizers were something I would daily if I lived nearby. The scallops were superb as well. The cheese curds were worth it if that's your kind of thing, but we didn't need them. I personally got the shrimp and grits and no complaints here. But like I said, the other 2 got the airline chicken and the baked ziti add chicken. Northern of which did I consider anything special. We have been to many restaurants in the area during our yearly visits to St Augustine and Elkhouse was one of the very best. Too many establishments we used to go to have become move em in and out tourist traps with mediocre food and surly untrained staff. We walked into this cool A-frame with a large screened in and covered deck. We were immediately greeted by Kelly who was delightful and knowledgeable and added to a great experience. I had the hanger steak which was one of the the most tender and tasty cuts of beef I've ever had. My wife had the Cobb salad with chicken that was fresh and huge. Good to know someone still has high standards. Will be back. read more

Absolutely amazing! So glad I came! I have driven passed it many of times and always wanted to give it a try, but never have been able. At first sight I pictured it to be a fancy dress code type of restaurant not suitable for kids. Regardless my two daughter come with me everywhere. We stopped in there was no dress code inside is very much like an old log cabin style. We were seated since I arrived at 4:30pm and they opened at 5. I just waited since I was already in the area. I ordered a Pinot Noir and our food. There is no kid menu, my toddler loves fries so I ordered a side of fries, and I shared my plate with my ten y/o my husband we also had an entree of fish. We celebrated 27th Anniversary at Elk House because we know they have great food and service. Appetizer was delicious Scallops. My Wife had a delicious steak strip cooked perfectly strip medium rare and mashed potatoes. I had their Seafood with marina and linguini: big prawns, clams, mussels & oysters - Yum! Dissent was the most delicious Crème D'Brylee. Inside dining is noisy with comfy atmosphere. Outside is better with warm weather. read more

I had the Sea Scallop Pesto, which is wild caught sea scallops over linguini in creamy curry pesto with fire roasted peppers and grilled ciabatta. I usually ask if certain items on the menu are farm-raised or wild caught but it was described on the menu. Better late than never. 1st let me give our wonderful waiter Dylan a huge thank you. You are wonderfully attentive, kept checking in without hovering. You let us enjoy our meal that we were savoring. You made us feel like we were in Europe, where food is savored and not rushed. My husband and I came in for our anniversary. We started with Ahi Tuna Tartare Tower oh my world. The sear on the tuna with all the peppercorn on a bed of seaweed with an aioli drizzle is a combination of flavors that burst and melt in your mouth. The Crap Dip Appetizer (2) is a medley of flavor that was delicious, with thick chunks of fresh crab meat and came with a side of freshly toasted French bread. Now for the main entrée. I had the Elk steak with broccolini and cheese mashed potatoes with a mushroom gravy. Cooked medium rare to perfection. My husband had the ribeye with cheese mashed potatoes. Another masterpiece. We were so full but left room for dessert. I had the salted caramel cheesecake and my hubby had the crème brûlée. He said it was the best crème brûlée he has ever had outside of Paris. The atmosphere is very nice. The restaurant reminds me of a small hunting lodge in the Alps. Get there early, because the place fills up quickly. we had dinner here. i had the hanger steak with pesto, it was delicious and cooked to perfection. my wife had the airline chicken and was very flavorful and both pared well with the bottle of Bonanza Cab. we had. Mark our server was attentive in just the right amount. this is our 2nd time here and they did not disappoint. the only reason they did not get 5 stars was the noise level is extreme. the inside is an alpine sharp pointed ceiling, so the sound of the other diners comes back down like a megaphone on 11! that is the only negative, we have to almost the shout to each other to be heard. hopefully, they solve this issue soon. read more

Roberto ordered the lobster gnocchi special which had large lobster chunks. It was delicious without being too heavy. I had the Hanger steak with chimichurri and Asparagus. It was really one of the best steak entrees I have had without getting a filet, Ribeye or NY Strip. I highly recommend it. We still had room for dessert so we split the crème brûlée. The Elk House is a hidden gem in the heart of Crescent Beach. For starters, we ordered the Ahi Tuna Tartare Tower which was fresh and delicious. The Lump Crab Dip was huge and really good. Definitely more on the crabby side. For my entree I ordered the Scottish Salmon Filet which was cooked perfectly and the jalapeño and apricot glazed sealed the deal for me. The service was great. I read the Yelp reviews and decided to try The Elk House Eatery at Crescent/Butler Beach, FL. All the reviewers I read awarded 5 stars and so have I. We arrived just after 5 pm on Tuesday night. We were warmly greeted and Kelly quickly provided us with unsweet iced tea with lemon. The hot crab dip did not disappoint (Kelly cautioned that it was quite warm and slightly spicy.) It was served with toast. My DC chose the special, elk stroganoff with noodles, which he enjoyed (oh so tender!) l ordered hanger steak rare with white cheddar mashed potato. It was served with chimmichurri and a slice of watermelon radish with tiny sprouts. Although we were happily full, we decided to celebrate our 59th wedding anniversary with crème brûlée.
