It saddens me to write this review of a restaurant with so many positive reviews, but sadly this restaurant missed on just about all of the food that we got. The service was pretty good, I can admit, however even that could've been better. We got started with our evening with a bottle of wine which was reasonably priced. The house arancini was chicken stuffed, which we were only told about after we ordered the dish. Sadly, the chicken pieces were large and there was just not enough cheese to really make this dish work - nor enough sauce. I even got a piece of bone in my arancini, which just ruined my appetite. We then had decided on the chicken parm for the main course (which later we realized was rather similar to the arancini). The first chicken parm piece that was got was rather large in size, however as we cut into the dish we noticed that half of the meat was still pink and cold to the touch. We showed our waiter, and instead of treating us with some empathy, we were told that "well its not our fault, but I've been trying to tell the guys in the back to pound the meat before cooking it." We were given another piece of chicken, and it was only slightly better than the first piece, but we ate a few bites and called it an evening. It's too bad, I'd be willing to try this place out for other dishes but I don't know if I'll choose this place again, knowing there are other options nearby. The best part of the evening was the ambiance and the wine, so maybe a happy hour in the future is in order. read more

Unfortunately, I didn't love this place like I was really hoping. I'll start with the good - friendly service and cute ambiance, definitely feels like a nice place to visit for date night. Our night unfortunately took a bit of a downturn when it came to the food. The stuffed Arancini for me had a weird texture with the chicken and overall tasted bland. The Chicken parmesan was raw when I cut into it which was off putting. When this was brought to the attention of the staff, I was asked if I wanted it "warmed up" or redone which seemed odd to me as the chicken was literally raw in the center and not just a little under. My experience didn't leave me wanting to revisit sadly, but hopefully this was just an off night. read more

This was our first visit, and while the ambiance and service were both pleasant, the food unfortunately did not live up to expectations, and we probably won't return based on this experience. The atmosphere felt inviting and our server was attentive, but the dishes themselves were underwhelming for the price point. The Arancini, crab cakes, and bolognese all lacked depth of flavor and seasoning, and none offered the layered, memorable taste you would expect from a restaurant in this price range. Presentation could also be improved to better match the upscale positioning. Based on the overall lack of flavor in the meal, we decided to skip the $12 dessert. The check was difficult to justify considering the disappointing food quality. Here is what we ordered: 2 glasses of prosecco - $12 ea Still bottled water - $9 Arancini - $16 Beet Salad - $18 Crab cakes with Orzo, kale and squash - $48 Bolognese with pancetta and prosciutto - $38 Total with tip: $200! I wanted to get to this review as quick as possible while the exceptional experience procured was fresh in my mind! However, as time can do, it got away from me and here I am. We went up to St. Augustine for the weekend of Valentine's Day. I had planned the whole trip down to a tee, but somehow I forgot the most essential part! Before I knew it, it was a few days away from VDay and I had NO restaurant reservations. Prior to the trip, I had made a list of spots in St. Aug that piqued my interest the most and I wanted to try. Sogno was on that list and still had seating available, so I jumped on it! The interior was quite lovely. Posh, but was still inviting. A look that in my mind would be tricky to create. There were ornate chandeliers yet wainscoting adorned the partitions. Pieces of fine art hang on the walls, yet there's a charming antique sideboard used as a wait station. We were seated right in front of a piano. It had a gentleman playing it most of the night creating a swanky yet traditional romantic ambience. I did not catch our waiters' name, but let me just tell you, his service was some of the very best! He was suggestive but not overbearing. Attentive, but in a subtle, classy way. Genuinely felt like fine dining service. My boyfriend and I were both very impressed and extremely pleased. I ordered the Caprese salad right away. It had tomatoes and fresh burrata on a bed of arugula that was drizzled in truffle oil. DE-LISH! I think its terribly notable when a chef can take such a simple dish you've had a bunch of times and re-create it in a way that has you saying "WOW" to every bite. That seems to be their bread and butter here at Sogno. Speaking of bread and butter - Sogno's is STELLAR. The bread tasted so fresh and came out piping hot. It was a rustic loaf. Ultra crispy crust on the outside, and unbelievable softness on the inside. The butter that came with it had a hint of garlic which I absolutely adored. Choosing my entrée was a tough decision! After much debate, I ended up picking the Rigatoni Filetta. Braised, tender, filet mignon chunks served in a tomato herb sauce over a bed of rigatoni. Chef's kiss! My honey had Pan Seared Cod served with pancetta lemon risotto and grilled broccolini. Of course, I had to taste his but preferred my dish. Being that everything we sampled throughout the night was utterly divine, dessert was a must! We were so stuffed; I got it to go. However, my indulgence took over and it didn't even make it to the car! Their tiramisu was so light, decadent, and delicious it really never stood a chance! I enjoy the atmosphere Sogno offers immensely. I loved watching the owners bring each customer's plate to their table. They exuded pride and relished in the personal touch that was being brought with each delivered dish. This was the best Valentine's dinner we have experienced all around. Everything was perfect. The ONLY complaint I would have about Sogno is that it's not where I live in Orlando! Sogno is a rare gem. I dined at Sogno last night with my husband and his family, a party of 7 including one four-year-old. The restaurant was surprisingly empty for a July 3rd evening, with only two other tables occupied when we arrived at 7 PM. Sogno has a nice ambiance, clearly geared towards finer dining, with a welcoming atmosphere following its recent renovation. Our waitress was prompt in taking our drink orders; my rosé was enjoyable as were the dirty martinis, but the old fashions ordered by my sister-in-law and husband were overly sweet and had to be sent back--something unprecedented for my husband in our eight years together (for food or drink). They tasted like simple syrup. For appetizers, we shared a delightful watermelon salad special and octopus, which is a personal favorite of mine. The octopus portion was generous, though the size of the tentacle was a bit off-putting visually, it was well-cooked and tasty. The meatballs were praised, while the fried calamari received mixed reviews. The mussels were also a hit, served in a delicious spicy tomato broth - only complaint is the crostini's it was served with were not a significant enough vehicle to sop up the incredible broth. The bread service, available upon request, was a highlight for me, surpassing the rest of the meal outside of the watermelon salad. Served warm with a crunchy exterior & soft interior, and ended up ordering about 5 rounds haha. Moving on to the entrees, the branzino was disappointingly salty, tasting too much like the sea, and came with a small portion of green beans (thankfully, they accommodated my dairy allergy by omitting the polenta cake). The lamb chop was undercooked--surprisingly, my husband felt fine the next morning--and the gnocchi was unfortunately very hard. We were starving so cleaned our plates, but I'll be honest, both dishes were terrible. On the flip side, the cod and lobster ravioli dishes were enjoyed by those who ordered them! Our overall impression is that Sogno is overpriced considering the quality and portion sizes, especially compared to other nearby restaurants. Despite the pleasant ambiance and some good dishes, the inconsistencies in food preparation and flavor leave us with no plans to return. 3 stars is generous. read more

Went here for dinner before a show at the St Augustine Amphitheater. It is a cute place! We had reservations but were running a little late, but they were very accommodating in making sure we still had a table, and the service in general was lovely. We started with drinks - i had a Vino Rosa Spritz and it was fantastic. My friend had Tramonto Toscano followed by a Mediterraneo. Each of these drinks tasted super fresh and the right amount of sweet. They were like drinking summer. They brought out bread, and at first I was excited broke off a piece and steam came out. However, it turns out the middle of the bread was ice cold - literally. That was a bummer but not a huge deal. For an appetizer, we had fried calamari. It was very good. Came with lots of peperoncini - which I love. For dinner I had the linguini with clams. The clams were pretty good, and the garlic bread on the side was decent. But the linguini itself and the broth it was served in had no flavor at all. My friends meal was redeeming. She got the Bistecca alla Fiorentina. The steak was properly cooked and well flavored. Green beans were on point and very good! Smoked confit potatoes were not for me - the smoked flavor was weird on potatoes, but she liked them! One downside (as is expected in this area) is the parking situation. The parking lot is tiny. Street parking is very limited. Overall, I debated between 3 and 4 stars for this - but I found myself thinking I'd still definitely go back for, at the very least drinks, and would likely try some other menu items since the app and one entree was good, as well as excellent service. I don't normally write a review on a glass of wine, but this place has a certain vibe. They made nice changes on the inside, Al fresco dining is an option. The decent size bar is the same configuration, although it's been updated. My glass of Chardonnay was excellent. The menu isn't overwhelming but diverse enough to hit most palates. Prices, as others have mentioned, are higher than you'll see in most local spots so proof will come when I eat here. I will. I'll be back for dinner. read more

Fantastic meal at Sogno with server, Lily. She was excellent -- sweet, patient and able to describe dishes and drinks very well to help us make final selections. Wedge, Caesar and Caprese salads were all solid. And for entrees, the Oxtail, Osso Bucco, Chicken Parm, and Cioppino were all off-the-charts tasty. It was pretty dead on a Thursday night and this place is better than that! St. Augustine has a great Italian restaurant here and needs to give it some more love. Boy you have to love the cranky food critics on here or the egotistical person from CA that won't even post their photo and claims all 5 stars are fake. Pitiful. Im a local and have dined here on two separate occasions and the food and service were outstanding . We've frequented Italy 6 times and the food here is just as fresh, the drinks are amazing, and the service is oit of this world. Do yourselves a favor amd judge for yourself. The garlic shrimp was delicious and the fried calamari was also a good choice. We love this place so much! Just finished another fantastic meal starting with a featured watermelon, salad with feta and fresh mint and an arancini appetizer served over marinara. We dine here frequently because the atmosphere and service is always on point in addition to the exceptional meal. Dined last night and everything was amazing. Of course the wine, but everything we ordered was amazing. The flatbread and grilled octopus apps to the Branzino, seafood carbonara and the stellar seafood risotto which brought us back to one of the best we had in Venice. The wife and I decided to try Sogno and absolutely loved it! From the moment we walk in, the cozy atmosphere makes us feel right at home. The staff was friendly and attentive and went out of their way to make our dining experience special. The menu is not overwhelming and everything we had was cooked to perfection. The branzino was very flavorful (wife said it was the best she's ever had) and the octopus was done perfectly, very tender with a bit of char on the outside. I will suggest anyone planning on going try the burrata caprese. Topping it with the truffle oil just takes it to another level. We will definitely be back! read more

Based on reviews, I guess we were expecting a little more. The ambiance was very nice. When we walked in and saw the piano we were excited; however, the style of music was completely inappropriate. While I am not certain of how to categorize it, at one point I said to my husband that it sounded as though we were at a piano recital. For an Italian restaurant, we would have expected soothing and romantic. The food was good but not exceptional. Service was good except that our waitress, who was very nice, after taking our drink order, didn't ask if we wanted an appetizer or anything like a salad to go with our entree. A wonderful evening. Attended a wine tasting last night at Sogno. It was a 5 course dinner with specialty wines (whites and reds) that complemented each course. Each of the courses from the charcuterie board to the dessert was absolutely delicious. The 3rd and 4th courses were especially noteworthy (lemon risotto and scallop) (braised rib with pappardelle). We come to ST Augustine from the Atlanta area once a year and love the restaurants. But, we felt like trying something new this year. I googled and found this place. So happy I did. The service was very welcoming. We had a cocktail which was fabulous and the bread they bring in from New York. The bread was warm, crusty and soft, perfect. The calamari appetizer lightly breaded We had the baked cod with lemon risotto and broccolini. It was all cooked to perfection. The glass of wine was a good balance that paired well with our cod. We spent our Valentine dinner at Sogno and unfortunately had the worse meal that we have ever had at a fine dining restaurant anywhere. We ordered a wedge salad that I can only describe as the lettuce being old, tight & tough. It had very little dressing and a scattering of condiments. It was non-edible. We sent it back and were asked if we would like a substitute however, we said we'll wait for our entrées. We waited quite a long time for them to arrive. My husband ordered the Rigatoni Filetta . I had the Veal Florentine. After taking four bites of the veal of which each bite I had to remove because it was so tough I couldn't chew it, I asked the waiter to remove my plate and told him I could not eat it. The Cappellini was also dry. I was not offered an option and ate off my husband's plate which was at best over sauced and acidic. The salad and Veal were removed from our bill and I went home hungry and very disappointed. We had four wonderful glasses of red wine. Our waiter was very nice and the atmosphere lovely. It was our second meal at Sogno. The first being better. This one my husband said was awful. read more
