This restaurant is one of our "go to" for a real authentic Italian meal. We brought some family that was visiting during the week and everyone was very satisfied with their meals. The only complaint was that the dishes with vodka sauce had way too much sauce on the plate. My sister-in-law can't eat gluten any more as of last year, so she had bolognese with gluten free pasta (she said it was good but not great) but she said that is because she misses her regular pasta, so no pasta will ever be great again for her. My Niece had pasta with vodka sauce, there was way too much sauce on the plate but it was very good. My Nephew had chicken parm with vodka sauce and he loved it, again a little too much sauce on the plate though. I always get the same thing, escarole and beans with grilled chicken over pasta. This time it was a bit spicy for some reason, so I didn't love it as much as usual, but it was still very good and something you just can't find in this area. Dessert was cannolis and home made cheese cake. The owner makes the cakes here and they are all very good. Service was very attentive and good. This is a small family-owned cafe serving authentic Sicilian cuisine. We dropped in one afternoon between the lunch and dinner rush and had a lovely meal. The restaurant is adorable, featuring memorabilia from the family's original restaurant and family photographs. Our server was excellent. I started by treating myself to a lovely bottle of wine. Sometimes dry rosé is a bit hard to find, but the Fuedo Disisa was excellent. While we waited for our meals to be prepared, we enjoyed a basket of soft, warm bread with herb garlic butter. It was like having dessert first! My husband ordered angel hair spaghetti with marinara sauce. He really enjoyed it. I ordered chicken Marsala. Both dishes were excellent. The Marsala sauce was so flavorful, plenty of mushrooms, and is served with your choice of pasta--I had penne. The entrees were both plentiful portions and we had enough to take home for another meal. We saved room for dessert. My husband had the chocolate cake and I had the Italian cheesecake which is made from ricotta cheese. It was creamy and delicious, and I enjoyed it with an excellent cup of coffee. Found this place on a whim while passing by and oh my goodness was it a hidden gem. I can't recommend it enough. Not only is it super cute and the staff are so friendly, the food is excellent. The cream of mushroom soup was delicious. We ordered the eggplant parm as our entrees and it was one of the better ones we've had. An early dinner on Tuesday. First time eating at this location. We ate at their previous restaurant. Seated right away. Only one other couple here now. Yep plenty of parking out front they are an end unit to the north of Winn Dixie. My wife had the fusilli pasta with meatballs after a garden salad with house dressing. I had soup and Chicken Francese (lemon butter parsley sauce) which was very good. Joe Joe took excellent care of us. They bring out a bread basket nice and hot. Nice way to start the meal. So for us a 4. Just didn't care for the taste of their homemade tomato sauce it was good but like it a bit sweeter. Some previous reviews recommend getting their vodka sauce. The restaurant is a bit out of the way from downtown Jacksonville but I think it's worth a drive/ They have ample parking and the restaurant itself is quaint and quirky.i was told the restaurant has been around the St Augustine area for 2decades but in different locations before moving to the current place 4 years ago. Our waiter was knowledgeable and made good recommendations. The food tasted great and had a homemade feel. The pasta was al dente. The portions were huge so if you are not a big eater, you can share with a friend. The tiramisu tasted different from what I've had in the past. I could taste the mascarpone cheese as the dominant ingredient over the chocolate / coffee. The food tasted like authentic Italian fare. Worth a trip to try it yourself! read more

Went for lunch with a small group of three this time. We were the only customers having lunch on the day we went. The place is small, tidy, and the décor is cute. However, from us being the only patrons at the time, the place felt eerily quiet and we all felt this weird uncomfortableness. That said, I wouldn't recommend going during lunch, perhaps the evening meal offers a better vibe. The food is good, portions are small (yes, even for a lunch portion), the prices are a little high for what you get, and the service is ok. Even with being the only folks in there, we had the dreaded empty glass a few times and the food took a long time to come. Perhaps they wanted to space things out since we were the only customers??? We had heard great things about this place, read quite a few reviews, and looked forward to trying it since we don't have an Italian "go-to" place anymore here. I think it is ok and you will get a decent meal. This caliber of Italian food can be found throughout the area and nothing special sticks out. Some restaurants are worth the drive when you live far away, but I wouldn't drive 40 minutes to go there again unless I had to (meeting friends or whatever). However, if you live on this end of town...check it out, it may be to your liking. It is located in a strip mall that has plenty of parking. Be sure to put it in your GPS because I think it may seem hidden to some folks. Or even introducing himself. him and his wife and another server came over and surrounded me and made me feel uncomfortable. Finally let me leave and come back with cash after he confirmed with his credit card that it wasn't processing if I'm ordering clams white, why are you putting cheese on it? The pastafasoli was cooked in the microwave and there was maybe three beans and six noodles for soup and the pasta wasn't cooked all the way. Presentation was messy. Shameful. Let's talk about the main course veal piccata $32 +6 dollars of charge for medley veggie on the side. The veal wasn't even cut or pounded properly and was swimming in oil. The owner said nothing after I paid the bill as he was distracted with her credit card machine on the phone in the restaurant and don't care about the people paying WOW talk about an experience. Everything was so delicious! As an Italian girl from New York, I was taken right back to my Nonna's kitchen. From the fresh warm bread, the calamari, to the main dishes, everything was authentic tasting! I had the Lasagna, my husband had the eggplant Parmesan, and my daughters had the Chicken Parmesan, and spaghetti and meatballs, we all devoured our meals! Valentine's mayhem! The menu was limited and set but because I have a gluten allergy they did go out of their way to make me something special. It was only grilled chicken with roasted red peppers and fresh mozzarella but it was very good and very nice of them to accommodate me. This place is going into my regular rotation. Cozy restaurant reminiscent of the small Italian bistros in NYC, an aisle with one table on each side. Small but thoughtful wine list. warm bread served with Sicilian Caponata (eggplant spread) was a great start. The special of mussels and clams fra diablo was indeed diabolical and addictive. Visiting the area and needed some grub. Ordered the Penne ala Vodka and the Chicken Parmigiana. With side salads and bread, to go. The presentation of the Penne ala Vodka left a tad to be desired. Some of the chicken which was an add on was over done but the sauce was good. The dish was tasty. The chicken parmigiana was good and the portion size for both dishes was ample. The sauce was meaty and had decent cheese. I was not happy with the cleanliness of my house salad greens, thus they were thrown away. The bread was decent. Wondering where to dine after mass yesterday afternoon, we decided to see if Casa Benedetto's had room for two hungry diners. Luckily we were escorted to a great table for two. We are happy to see most of the tables were taken in spite of the closure of Winn Dixie in preparation for Aldi Market moving into the space. The specials were interesting. We started with mussels in butter/garlic (ordered more hot crispy bread to sop up the delicious sauce.) I chose shrimp stuffed with crab with a side of penne in a wonderful tomato sauce. Since it is still Christmas, we asked our server, JoJo, about her favorite. Glad we did--Italian Wedding cake. Sponge cake soaked in rum, with dried cranberries, chocolate chips, cannoli filling, whipped cream and sliced almonds. So decadent and mouth-watering deliciousness. Mary ( dessert specialist) outdid herself with this special (once-in-a-while) treat. The ambiance is old-school NY Italian. Give it a try. Reservations on busy nights is a must. read more

Casa Benedetto's is a nice little Italian restaurant located about 15-minutes outside of downtown St. Augustine. With plenty of parking, great staff, and Gluten-Free options. Casa Benedetto's offers authentic Italian food with a small town vibe. I ordered the Sicilian Meat Sauce with Gluten-Free pasta, Lasagna, along with the Chocolate Mocha Cake, and Gluten-Free Cheesecake for dessert. The flavors of the pasta sauce were very rich and delicious, and the cheesecake was fresh and slightly sweet. Each dinner entree comes with a salad and homemade dressing. Delish! My only recommendation is to double check that the Gluten-Free pasta is cooked correctly before plating. I've come in here numerous times and have gotten chewy/uncooked pasta. Other than that, this is a great place to visit if you're in the area. We just had a fine-dining experience molto bene From entering this quaint little restaurant throughout our meal and upon leaving, we had a wonderful time. We were greeted and seated by Leslie, a very pleasant and congenial host, and our server, Dylan, a delightful young man who helped with our selections. We had tradition choices of lasagna (outstanding), crepes Florentine and an order of meat balls. Excellent, excellent, excellent - fresh, home made and subtly seasoned to perfection. We were in a group of 6 adults who ate at Casa Benedetto's this past Saturday. My wife and I have had this restaurant on our list for awhile now. Transparently, we were a little nervous since going here was our recommendation. We were not disappointed and the nervousness was for nothing. The group had a mixture of seafood, chicken and vegetarian dishes and no one was disappointed at all. One member of our group cannot have gluten and he was well taken care of with his choices too! The pastas were good as well. Everyone was satisfied with the food and the ambiance. A few of us had dessert, me being one of those. I had the bread pudding and I thought it was good. I would order it again. Actually, I would order the Eggplant Parm again as well. It was delicious! The only downside was the length of time it took for the food to arrive. The restaurant was busy, and the service was good, so we were able to enjoy ourselves without focusing too much on the wait. Highly recommend! read more

One word: Outstanding! Casa Benedetto has been on our list to try for too long and we finally went tonight. Everything was absolutely delicious. They start you off with fresh, crispy bread and eggplant caponata dip that blew my mind.. Followed by soup or salad .. 3 spoonfuls into the soup I had to stop to take a pic when I realized I was eating the best pasta fagioli I ever had.. I had the tortellini carbonara which was fantastic.. and the hubs had the veal marsala..which is his metric for any good Italian.. He highly approved..by evidence of a totally empty plate. Overall a wonderful experience, friendly owners, great, attentive wait staff.. and a warm, cozy feeling like you've gone to your Aunt's for dinner. I went to this restaurant with a friend last night and we were very impressed! Excellent service from "Jojo", and the food was incredible. The complementary eggplant "schmear" for the lovely warm bread was unexpected and delicious, as was the chicken parmigiana with linguine and baked ravioli. Our side Caesar salads were also very fresh with lovely homemade Caesar dressing. Truly delicious pasta sauce too. This place is the "real deal" for authentic Italian cuisine. Stopped here for lunch and it was really good. I had the eggplant parm which I thought was as good as it gets - eggplant without a huge cap of mozzarella, just enough. I think it had some ricotta as well, which made it creamier - almost lasagna-like. It came with pasta and the red sauce was rustic with some chunks of tomato. My wife had the flounder which she really liked - they made it without breadcrumbs for her. Service was friendly and prompt, there are tables for about 50-60 people; when we were there were maybe four other diners, so I can't comment about noise. I'm giving it five stars because what we had was a home-run and the overall experience was quite nice - it's reminiscent of small family-run restaurants serving quality food, which are unfortunately disapearing as chains dominate many local dining options. This is an excellent family Italian Restaurant that is worth the money. However, dining is a long stride and the menu is priced for a location that is not accross the street from StAugSho. It is also very cozy so don't crowd the place with a family dinner, it is better for couples that don't wanna make it to Gusto or Romano's 3 miles down the road or La Strada. If you go there youll have a good time, and it will be pricey and a long dinner. No more stars because the menu is typical Italian Bistro with nothing that will sweep you off your feet and the wine list is like very limited and it is too pricey to leave sober. read more

The prices are on the higher end, but the dinner plate sizes are rather large and could easily be split between two people. Recommend every dish we ate- artichoke sensation salad, pasta garlic and oil with broccoli, michelina's eggplant (fried well without the breading), chicken parm, shrimp scampi (well balanced butter lemon flavor), mozz caprice, crepes florentine (sauce had very flavorful buttery cream sauce and rich cheese blend inside), zuppa de' pesce (lovely presentation), fried calamari (crisply fried, tender, tentacles and rings). So we ate at Casa Benedetto's 5 years ago, then we left Florida for Las Vegas. Casa Benedetto's was excellent then and we often spoke about it in the ensuing 5 years. Skip forward 5 years and The Boss wanted to come back to St. Augustine. I wanted to stay in Las Vegas. So we spoke about it, discussed it, strategized over it and we reached a compromise . . . we did what the Boss wanted. We went looking for Casa Benedetto in Vilano our first week back and it was gone. But much to our surprise, we discovered it still existed just in a new location. So we went. It is better than ever. It is a small (maybe 40 seats) very clean, comfortable, quiet old school Italian restaurant. Our hostess and server Jojo was outstanding, professional, engaged, personable and kept a terrific eye on the four of us. We never wanted for a thing. The menu is excellent and the food is better than that. Fresh, plentiful, real taste, delicious! The surprise not to be missed is the Eggplant Caponata, served with delicious crusty bread. Our salads were substantial and made with very fresh produce. I had the sausage and peppers - really made well. I could have eaten until I exploded. The Boss had the Pasta Carciofi (mushrooms, sundried tomatoes, artichoke hearts in an olive oil sauce over pasta). She wolfed it down and trust me, she is a picky eater. Finished off with a delightful tiramisu and coffee. Really, if you're looking for Carrabba's type food, don't come here. This is real authentic Italian food, fresh, prepared thoughtfully, cooked slowly so the flavors mature, in a lovely comfortable setting. We commend Casa Benedetto to you without reservation. read more
