There was a live band playing cover songs and that was super fun listening to. There is a big fire pit in the middle, and the outdoor area is spacious. We just returned from what should have been a nice dinner and are still trying to wash the taste out of our mouths. From bow to stern (nautical theme here) this was just a bad experience across the board! Our waiter had zero personality and acted as if he really didn't want to be there, the food was bad, and the cost was far more than the value provided. A rainy Sunday night and not very crowded - maybe 4 - 5 tables, but somehow our food managed to get lost in the kitchen and we waited way too long for food that was (in my case) completely inedible. My wife ordered the fresh catch halibut dinner grilled, and I ordered a blackened grouper sandwich. Both entrees were heavily salted; my wife tried to wipe the seasoning off her filet, which was at least decent sized. My sandwich contained the thinnest, saltiest piece of fish I'd ever been served, and I only managed a couple bites before giving up. My wife's filet wasn't fully cooked, and since we weren't eating sushi-grade fish, my wife was concerned about that. When she told our waiter he barely glanced at her plate and his response was "That's cooked. Some people are just finicky about the texture." "Finicky??" Are you sh**ing me?? How about saying "I'm sorry, would you like me to have it cooked more?" She also pointed at my sandwich and said that it was so salty I couldn't eat it, and all he said was "I'll be back." At least he didn't tell me I was being "finicky". The manager came over shortly after and explained that our server told him we weren't pleased with our meal. My wife explained the issues and his response "Too salty? I know who that is. One of our guys over-salts a lot. I'll talk to him." He then apologized and offered to get us something else, but I declined and said I was done. He vaguely pointed at our food and said he would "discount it". While we waited for the bill my wife took what was left of her fish to the house cat sitting on the patio, and the cat wouldn't even eat it! I'm sorry Mr manager, but if you know that one of your employees has issues with preparing food correctly... either educate them or replace them! Don't apologize and admit you're aware of bad food coming out of your kitchen! And then the topper - our bill came and a whopping $13.50 was discounted from almost $90! He didn't even take off the full cost of my sandwich which was still sitting on my plate! We usually try to give benefit of the doubt to restaurants, but this experience was bad enough that we both agreed we will NOT return. They have parking onsite just outside the restaurant. 5 stars for service - very attentive and we had the entire back area to ourselves so the noise level was not bad. Food was good and large portions. Lobster roll, grouper, walnut and beet salad were some of the dishes we had and everyone said their food was delicious. Came down for a girls brunch - nothing caught my eye on the brunch menu, so I went with lunch. It was good but not great. Got the shrimp po'boy. We walked in at 10:28 apparently, to the hostess telling us they weren't open for 2 more minutes, so that was awkward might want to keep the doors locked? I waited outside until 10:30 . I didn't order the brunch menu because no sides were listed on the menu- my friends ordered brunch and they all came with home fries - would have been good to know. We had char broiled oysters for an appetizer 6 oysters 6 mouth fulls of sharp oyster shells in my mouth. The broccolini was so hard my steak knife couldn't cut it. The grouper stuffed with carb cake was good if you only ate the crab cake. The grouper was dry and over cooked. The gnocchi's were great! Drinks were great also! Service exceptional! Did a quick run to Home Depot and stumbled upon this place. Told hubby about it and we took the whole family on a random weekday. Lo and behold... It's oyster day, the price was great!! The food was very very good. The oysters were yum! We had the seafood boil, the whole fried snapper, and hush puppies. The plantains were delish! The ambience was very lovely sitting outside. There's an area for the kids to play too which is an added bonus! The only downside was lots of mosquito bites after we left. We ate outside on their patio which had a firepit, strung lights and great vibes. I got the lobster roll which was good quality but I feel like the lobster itself was cold and not hot. The Salmon wonton taco surprised me on how much I liked it. One thing that was disappointing was we got bloody marys and mimosas, but were not told they were bottomless till we got our check. I feel like they should've told us this when we sat down/received our first drink. If I were in St. Augustine again I would come back since the food was good and the patio was cute. The deck is very nice but it started raining so we moved inside. Service was decent, the gin cocktail was very good. We ordered the calamari appetizer and it was dismal. So oversalted and contained 80% banana pepper 20% calamari. Almost inedible. We got the seafood boil and a shrimp & grits. The boil was delicious and I think it could feed 3. We had reservations at 2:30 for a party of 11, but with the rain and thunderstorms moving in, our table was outside. I asked Alex if there was any way we could possibly sit inside, and she immediately went above and beyond to help. She walked around to check on available tables and came back to let us know a large table was finishing up and that as soon as it was cleaned, it would be ours. About 15-20 minutes later, we were seated inside. Our waiter, Josh, greeted us with a smile and was extremely friendly and attentive. He quickly took our drink orders, came back with waters for the entire table, and made sure everything ran smoothly from start to finish. The service, food, and atmosphere were all amazing. I ordered the stuffed grouper, and it was phenomenal! Clearly fresh, perfectly seasoned, white and flaky, with a decadent crab stuffing that set the dish apart. My wife had the shrimp skewer salad and loved every bite. The shrimp were fresh, tender, and prepared perfectly. During our meal, I mentioned to Tom that shrimp and grits is my traditional go‑to dish. Even though I didn't order it, Tom surprised us with a complimentary serving of shrimp and grits from Chef Mike! Let me tell you, it was easily the most unique and delicious shrimp and grits I've ever had. The dish included onions and a layer of perfectly seasoned collard greens beneath creamy, balanced grits and fresh, succulent shrimp. We added it to our meal and finished every bite. Just when we thought we couldn't eat another thing, Tom asked if we saved room for dessert. We hadn't; but when he told us about their locally made key lime pie, we had to try it. It was incredible: perfectly tart, perfectly sweet, the crust was amazing and the ideal size for two people to share. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. I strongly recommend The Boathouse; try the stuffed grouper, the shrimp and grits, or the shrimp skewer salad if you want something lighter. The Boathouse is a great spot for an evening dinner after going to the beach! My family used to go to Creekside a while ago, so when we looked it up and saw that there was a new restaurant here called The Boathouse we wanted to try it. We have always loved the back deck overlooking the marsh, it's a perfect view for the sunset. They have live music on Saturday nights I believe but we were there on a Thursday. The restaurant was a little hot inside but as the sun went down it got better. Our server was nice and patient with us since we had such a large party. I got the grouper sandwich and it was solid, the fish was great and tasted fresh but the bun got soggy very quickly. Overall, we enjoyed the Boathouse and will likely be back! read more

We've been to Boathouse before and loved it, so we were excited to come back for brunch -- but this visit was disappointing. The drinks were weak, and my husband's French toast came out burnt. They remade it, but the second plate was still overcooked, just slightly less than the first. At that point we decided to leave and eat somewhere else instead. We had planned to come here for dinner but I'm glad we ended up here for late lunch. It was quiet and peaceful with a great view of the water. Our server was sooo nice and very attentive. The food was very fresh and tasty. We started with the spring rolls, portion was big. We probably only needed to get one portion but we got two! Then I got the blue fin tuna poke bowl. It was very tasty. Other diners got sushi, Cobb salad and chicken sandwich. Everyone was more than satisfied with their meal both in taste and portion size. We went for dinner before going on a ghost tour, and the service really stood out. I started my dinner with the Shark Bite cocktail which was both Tasty and delicious! The table got hush puppies and the Brussels sprouts appetizers. I loved the hush puppies with the added onion flavor and jam, and the girls really liked the Brussels sprouts. I got the Crab Cakes for dinner with a edamame soucoutash and they were both so good! The soucoutash had corn and bacon in it and I could have had a whole bowl of it!
