I was visiting from out of town and was craving seafood. I'm so glad I chose this spot because it was perfect! The weather was beautiful so my daughter and I sat outside. There was a live band playing cover songs and that was super fun listening to. There is a big fire pit in the middle, and the outdoor area is spacious. I ordered the seafood boil to share with my 5 yr old daughter and we both loved it! Service was great, no complaints at all. I had one drink , the linen drink which was gin based- it was delicious. Great spot, would love to go here again and bring my husband next time we are in town! read more

We just returned from what should have been a nice dinner and are still trying to wash the taste out of our mouths. From bow to stern (nautical theme here) this was just a bad experience across the board! Our waiter had zero personality and acted as if he really didn't want to be there, the food was bad, and the cost was far more than the value provided. A rainy Sunday night and not very crowded - maybe 4 - 5 tables, but somehow our food managed to get lost in the kitchen and we waited way too long for food that was (in my case) completely inedible. My wife ordered the fresh catch halibut dinner grilled, and I ordered a blackened grouper sandwich. Both entrees were heavily salted; my wife tried to wipe the seasoning off her filet, which was at least decent sized. My sandwich contained the thinnest, saltiest piece of fish I'd ever been served, and I only managed a couple bites before giving up. My wife's filet wasn't fully cooked, and since we weren't eating sushi-grade fish, my wife was concerned about that. When she told our waiter he barely glanced at her plate and his response was "That's cooked. Some people are just finicky about the texture." "Finicky??" Are you sh**ing me?? How about saying "I'm sorry, would you like me to have it cooked more?" She also pointed at my sandwich and said that it was so salty I couldn't eat it, and all he said was "I'll be back." At least he didn't tell me I was being "finicky". The manager came over shortly after and explained that our server told him we weren't pleased with our meal. My wife explained the issues and his response "Too salty? I know who that is. One of our guys over-salts a lot. I'll talk to him." He then apologized and offered to get us something else, but I declined and said I was done. He vaguely pointed at our food and said he would "discount it". While we waited for the bill my wife took what was left of her fish to the house cat sitting on the patio, and the cat wouldn't even eat it! I'm sorry Mr manager, but if you know that one of your employees has issues with preparing food correctly... either educate them or replace them! Don't apologize and admit you're aware of bad food coming out of your kitchen! And then the topper - our bill came and a whopping $13.50 was discounted from almost $90! He didn't even take off the full cost of my sandwich which was still sitting on my plate! We usually try to give benefit of the doubt to restaurants, but this experience was bad enough that we both agreed we will NOT return. This is a prime example of why zero stars should be allowed! read more

Last dinner in St Augustine and it was good. They have parking onsite just outside the restaurant. 5 stars for service - very attentive and we had the entire back area to ourselves so the noise level was not bad. Food was good and large portions. Lobster roll, grouper, walnut and beet salad were some of the dishes we had and everyone said their food was delicious. They were accommodating in getting us separate checks which was nice. read more

I was so hungry for not having lunch and wanted to come someplace that I know. I haven't been here for a while and it was a little chilly out so I decided to dine in. Ordered the pic two fresh seafood. A serving seem very rushed. Maybe he was working a lot of tables, but there wasn't really a good interaction experience. The food was good. I had the trigger fish with the grouper grilled with broccolini that was amazing and a side of plantains. The total was $44.73, which I thought was a deal compared to where I'm from. I would totally be back here, but hopefully your service would be a little more personable. read more

Came down for a girls brunch - nothing caught my eye on the brunch menu, so I went with lunch. It was good but not great. Got the shrimp po'boy. We walked in at 10:28 apparently, to the hostess telling us they weren't open for 2 more minutes, so that was awkward might want to keep the doors locked? I waited outside until 10:30 . I didn't order the brunch menu because no sides were listed on the menu- my friends ordered brunch and they all came with home fries - would have been good to know. Also the avocado toast literally had 2 small slivers of avocado on it. Wasn't worth the $30 bill after adding a Diet Coke too, so i don't plan to come back for brunch. read more

Great ambiance and friendly staff! We sat outdoors and enjoyed the water view while we dined. All four of us absolutely loved our meals. There were crab cakes, pasta, oyster deviled eggs, lobster bisque, and grilled shrimp. The sides were just as good! Our server was friendly, professional and checked on us often. All four of us can't wait to return and try their many options and delectable sounding meals! read more

Thank you to all you Yelpers who left a review! This was a great find! The fish was so fresh!!! Wish we had one of these in California! If we did, it would be our local hang at least once a week. Boathouse advertises $15 lobster in thursdays... what they do not tell you until you get there is that you have to purchase a $20 appetizer to get the $15 lobster. It's a scam to get you in! I always get the Ahi Tuna when I go out to eat here in St Augustine. I travel to eat. I have had Ahi Tuna across 20 states and I have to say the Ahi Tuna here at the Boathouse is by far the absolute best I have ever had. Grilled on an open fire, seasoned perfectly and cooked to perfection. Every bite was delectable. We sat outside and the view was amazing. Our server Isiah was wonderful and very attentive. Scott the manager came around to all the tables to make sure we had everything we needed. He was very gracious. We come to St. Augustine every year and this restaurant has made the top of my list to return and recommend. We will come back before we leave and when we return next year. read more

Did a quick run to Home Depot and stumbled upon this place. Told hubby about it and we took the whole family on a random weekday. Lo and behold... It's oyster day, the price was great!! The food was very very good. The oysters were yum! We had the seafood boil, the whole fried snapper, and hush puppies. The plantains were delish! The ambience was very lovely sitting outside. There's an area for the kids to play too which is an added bonus! The only downside was lots of mosquito bites after we left. Oh well, what can you do.. was still worth it All in all, if you're in the mood for seafood food and you like oysters, I would recommend coming here. We will be coming back! read more

Had a wonderful dinner at the Boathouse. Sat outside and started with the Sangrias and the chargrilled oysters. Although there was a few small shell pieces in the oysters they were very good. We then had the gator tails, very tender and good. The special of the day was 20 shrimp and a side. We ordered them blackened with the asparagus and split it. Plenty of food. We also ordered the hush puppies with jam. Great as a dessert. Makayla was our sever and was outstanding. The manager checked on us at least twice. Loved our experience! read more

We ate outside on their patio which had a firepit, strung lights and great vibes. I got the lobster roll which was good quality but I feel like the lobster itself was cold and not hot. The Salmon wonton taco surprised me on how much I liked it. One thing that was disappointing was we got bloody marys and mimosas, but were not told they were bottomless till we got our check. I feel like they should've told us this when we sat down/received our first drink. If I were in St. Augustine again I would come back since the food was good and the patio was cute. The deck is very nice but it started raining so we moved inside. Service was decent, the gin cocktail was very good. We ordered the calamari appetizer and it was dismal. So oversalted and contained 80% banana pepper 20% calamari. Almost inedible. We got the seafood boil and a shrimp & grits. The boil was delicious and I think it could feed 3. The shrimp and grits was too salty and too cheesy. I'm my opinion, onions and peppers detract from the dish. Overall would not recommend. read more

Our brunch experience was great, but unfortunately, the bartender afterward completely ruined it. After spending around $200 at the restaurant, we sat at four available seats at the bar to watch football and continue our bottomless mimosas, which we were explicitly told was allowed. The bartender was initially friendly, but her attitude changed completely once we explained this. She ignored our request to put on a football game, ignored us when we asked for a refill, and eventually told us to move outside into the cold because other customers paying for full bar service wanted our seats, despite the bar not being very busy and other seats being available. We had no problem tipping for good service, but the way we were treated was incredibly rude and made us feel unwelcome. We ultimately left. It's disappointing that one person's attitude could ruin an otherwise enjoyable visit. Management should take note. read more

I will return. Nice ol Mac next to the with ample outdoor seating. Ordered a Po-Boy that was OK. Frankly, the bread it came in was, I would say, 1 day stale and tomatoes should only be served thin and not overly meaty. The conch fritter appetizer was the best I've ever tasted. The key-lime pie at the end was very good and not a store bought version. Overall, the Boathouse delivered as a seafood place with a broad selection. read more

The Boathouse is a great spot for an evening dinner after going to the beach! My family used to go to Creekside a while ago, so when we looked it up and saw that there was a new restaurant here called The Boathouse we wanted to try it. We have always loved the back deck overlooking the marsh, it's a perfect view for the sunset. They have live music on Saturday nights I believe but we were there on a Thursday. The restaurant was a little hot inside but as the sun went down it got better. Our server was nice and patient with us since we had such a large party. I got the grouper sandwich and it was solid, the fish was great and tasted fresh but the bun got soggy very quickly. Overall, we enjoyed the Boathouse and will likely be back! read more

Alex, the hostess, was incredibly sweet and helpful, and the other hostess was just as amazing -- I'm so sorry I didn't catch her name! We had reservations at 2:30 for a party of 11, but with the rain and thunderstorms moving in, our table was outside. I asked Alex if there was any way we could possibly sit inside, and she immediately went above and beyond to help. She walked around to check on available tables and came back to let us know a large table was finishing up and that as soon as it was cleaned, it would be ours. About 15-20 minutes later, we were seated inside. Our waiter, Josh, greeted us with a smile and was extremely friendly and attentive. He quickly took our drink orders, came back with waters for the entire table, and made sure everything ran smoothly from start to finish. The service, food, and atmosphere were all amazing. We truly had a wonderful experience and highly recommend giving The Boathouse a try! read more

Ordered the Filet Mignon Steak Medium @ $43 and it was the toughest filet I'd ever eaten. My husband's grilled Grouper was way over seasoned making way too salty. Back with a party of 5. Again the service was excellent. But this time the food was sub par at best. We had char broiled oysters for an appetizer 6 oysters 6 mouth fulls of sharp oyster shells in my mouth. The broccolini was so hard my steak knife couldn't cut it. The grouper stuffed with carb cake was good if you only ate the crab cake. The grouper was dry and over cooked. The gnocchi's were great! Drinks were great also! Service exceptional! Exceptional Service, Fresh Seafood, and a Perfect Waterfront Atmosphere My wife and I had one of the best dining experiences we've ever had at The Boathouse in St Augustine. We sat outside on the deck overlooking the water, and the atmosphere alone was worth the visit. To make it even better, a sweet, friendly kitty joined us and rested at our feet while we ate. She was gentle, lovable, and happy to let us pet her, a perfect little addition to an already beautiful afternoon. From the moment we arrived, the staff was outstanding. The hostess seated us immediately, and our server, Tom, was exceptional. He kept our drinks full, checked in just enough without ever interrupting, and always kept an eye on our table as he walked by. His attention to detail was impressive. I ordered the stuffed grouper, and it was phenomenal! Clearly fresh, perfectly seasoned, white and flaky, with a decadent crab stuffing that set the dish apart. My wife had the shrimp skewer salad and loved every bite. The shrimp were fresh, tender, and prepared perfectly. During our meal, I mentioned to Tom that shrimp and grits is my traditional go‑to dish. Even though I didn't order it, Tom surprised us with a complimentary serving of shrimp and grits from Chef Mike! Let me tell you, it was easily the most unique and delicious shrimp and grits I've ever had. The dish included onions and a layer of perfectly seasoned collard greens beneath creamy, balanced grits and fresh, succulent shrimp. We added it to our meal and finished every bite. Just when we thought we couldn't eat another thing, Tom asked if we saved room for dessert. We hadn't; but when he told us about their locally made key lime pie, we had to try it. It was incredible: perfectly tart, perfectly sweet, the crust was amazing and the ideal size for two people to share. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. I strongly recommend The Boathouse; try the stuffed grouper, the shrimp and grits, or the shrimp skewer salad if you want something lighter. And whatever you do, save room for the best key lime pie you'll find anywhere in Florida. read more

We went for dinner before going on a ghost tour, and the service really stood out. I started my dinner with the Shark Bite cocktail which was both Tasty and delicious! The table got hush puppies and the Brussels sprouts appetizers. I loved the hush puppies with the added onion flavor and jam, and the girls really liked the Brussels sprouts. I got the Crab Cakes for dinner with a edamame soucoutash and they were both so good! The soucoutash had corn and bacon in it and I could have had a whole bowl of it!
