    Cornbread with honey butter
    Debbie M.

Oh my gosh!! I can't say enough good stuff about this restaurant. It's a bit of a drive from downtown St. Augustine, but worth every single minute. First, the restaurant overlooks a beautiful black water creek. There are docks and puh-lenty of parking for your boat and dozens more!! We were warmly greeted at the door and were seated waterfront on the deck as requested. Our server was Sherry, and she was excellent! She was patient, attentive, generous, kind, and gave excellent advice regarding the menu offerings. I ordered a lychee martini and only wish I could have had another. It was really, really good! Just a hint of lychees with a bit of ginger liquor... excellent craft cocktail!! My husband and I shared an entree. I had blackened trigger fish, and he had the fried shrimp. Out sides were corn on the cob and pimento cheese grits. Those grits!!! OMG!! As a G.R.I.T.S. (Girl raised in the South) I can honestly say I've never had better!! The portions were very generous, and the cornbread comes loaded with a scoop of homemade whipped honey butter. Heavenly!! My only disappointment is that I had no room in my belly for dessert, but the cornbread and honey butter WERE dessert.

Yes we over ordered and not I'm not unhappy about it!

Way off the beaten path from where we were staying but the menu sounded amazing so off we headed. Drove for miles and miles it seamed. I was amazed we were still in St. Augustine but this was definitely worth the drive. Bonus for us Wednesday is 75 cent oysters! YIPPEE! We were famished and way over ordered but this was our last meal out on the last day of or honeymoon so we got all the goods! one dozen raw, one dozen steamed, conch fritters (the only think that was horrible, Mama Shaw needs to ditch that recipe and try again) Fried oyster platter, Steak tip bites, sides of yellow rice casserole, which was just yellow rice and Datil creamed corn casserole which was too sweet for me but great concept. A very nice outdoor bar with a few swings and a nice view of the water where we saw a gator. Strong Bloody Mary to boot and we were happy happy! We will find this place next time too!

I hadn't been to Outback Crabshack in over a decade since moving out of state. I was excited to hear they reopened and the new team did not disappoint. The deck overlooking the water was gorgeous, everything was shiny and new. I came on a Monday and unfortunately the snow crabs didn't arrive in their shipment that day. So I opted for the king crab despite the very high market price. It was absolutely delicious and the butter dip was perfect. Service was friendly and they were on top of all of our needs. I look forward to coming back the next time I am in town!

Such a great summer spot. Sat at the bar on the swings which made the whole experience fun and different from your typical seafood place. The vibe is super laid-back, perfect for hanging out with friends and enjoying the weather. The bar staff were awesome friendly, attentive, and kept the drinks flowing. The coconut shrimp were a standout. Definitely a place I'd come back to for a casual night out by the water.

First time here since they reopened. The atmosphere is great- came on a beautiful Sunday afternoon when they had live music. Made a reservation for a table outside on the patio as it fills up quickly. The service was decent- our waitress was quick to fix an error with our kids food order. Had a large menu of both food and drinks. We ordered a few appetizers with our group (corn nuggets, edamame, oysters). For entrees, we all had a little something different: burgers, fish sandwich, ahi tuna, kids butter noodles, chicken strips). It's a little pricey but the portion sizes were good and we had leftovers. The kids enjoyed walking along the dock and seeing the boats. We would definitely come back more often if we lived a little closer.

We stopped in at Outback Crab Shack on our way into St Augustine. It's a great location right on the river with nice views and lots of space for groups. The service was friendly, but a little slow at times. We tried a lot of different food, and the highlights were the lobster roll, the fried shrimp, and cornbread. Definitely worth the trip.

A few days ago, my family tried Outback Crab Shack for the first time after hearing so much about it. I have to say, this place is an absolute gem! The food was bomb, and everything lived up to the hype. The only thing I'd change is the seating in regards to the booths. They could definitely be a bit more spacious. The tall men in our group had a hard time fitting their knees under the table, so if you're extra tall or extra plump, I'd recommend sitting outside. The service was great, and our waiter was really attentive. The swings at the bar added such a fun, unique touch to the outdoor area. The view of the water was beautiful too, and next time I come, I'll definitely sit outside to enjoy it fully. Outback Crab Shack is owned by the same folks who run Julington Fish House and Oyster Company (which I go to way too often), so I already knew I'd love their fried shrimp. I can confirm they're still the best in the Jacksonville area in my opinion. And if you know me, you know I'm a sucker for truffle fries... these did not disappoint! Overall, this spot perfectly combines great food, a laid-back atmosphere, and that true Florida charm. I'll definitely be back soon and next time by the water!

Killer lobster roll with a pound of the good stuff! Excellent food and service in a delightful atmosphere!

Delicious food. From burgers and seafood to salads with steak bites.

The wait staff was friendly and attentive. The food was excellent! Everything cooked perfectly. We sat outside and although the place was busy and we were a group of five, it didn't take long for our food to arrive. They have everything from burgers to seafood. The oysters were fabulous. The outside was nicely decorated and had ample shade as well as unshaded areas. The inside looked nice.

    Do they take reservations?

So kind of if you call they don't take reservations. You have to go on an app called Resy and then you can make a reservation through the app and it shows you all the times that they have open

How deep is water to dock a boat there?

I'm not sure how deep but I've seen different types of boats dock up there

The margarita was good, not great, but pretty good. My husband had deviled crab with a baked potato and applesauce. I had the 2-item platter with shrimp and scallops. Both were absolutely delicious, came out hot and cooked to perfection. I had grits, and found them to be pretty good, but not real hot. I'm a picky southern gal and I don't mess around with my grits!! Green beans were excellent!! We will definitely come back if we are in the area again!

Even though it was in the 90s outside, the deck was actually very pleasant, and watching the turtles and fish in the pond was by far the best part of the experience. Unfortunately, that was where the positives ended. I ordered the blackened mahi mahi fish sandwich with fries. The fish itself was actually well cooked and nicely seasoned, but the tomato on the sandwich was literally the top core slice of the tomato. A simple glance in the kitchen would have easily prevented that. We also had the shrimp po' boy with fries. The bun had been placed on the grill to toast, but it picked up heavy black char that ended up all over the bread and mixed into the shrimp. I bit into the sandwich and was shocked to crunch down on bitter, burnt residue that even hurt my tooth. It really made me wonder what else had been on that grill. The shrimp itself also had a freezer-burnt taste, and the fries had a similar off flavor. For a seafood restaurant, I didn't expect that level of quality issue with basic ingredients. The server offered to remake the sandwich but with that kind of taste, I did not think a remake would fix the problem. Overall, very disappointing food experience. I'm honestly surprised by the generally good reviews and unfortunately can't recommend this restaurant based on our visit.

We made an early reservation since we saw they do Happy Hour 4PM to 5:00PM everyday so we had to get in on that. We walked and and were seated at our table. They made sure to let us know you can sit anywhere during Happy Hour and still get the specials where many restaurants limit it to a bar area. Rustica does a great job of Happy Hour. They have appetizers, cocktails, beer, Sake, wine, and even main course happy hour entrees too. I started off with a cocktail going for the Liliko Martini which I really enjoyed. I have really been into my Passion Fruit drinks lately. We of course had to get some of the Happy Hour appetizers too and we might have gone a little overboard but for sure worth it. We got: The Naan Bread Yellow Beet Salad Crispy Tofu Roasted Pork Belly Bao Crispy Pork and Shrimp Lumpia Japanese Style Fried Chicken These were a great way to start off dinner and not one of them were $8 or less. If I had to pick favorites the best was for sure the Roasted Pork Belly Bao. I think it might have been the best Pork Belly Bao I had ever had. I was a large thick piece of Pork Belly but it just melted you your mouth and had so much flavor. We also very much enjoyed the Crispy Pork and Shrimp Lumpia which were much bigger then expected. The Japanese Style Fried Chicken was great too and the BBQ Ranch took it to the next level. For my entree I went with the Basil Crusted Roasted Monkfish which came with Vietnamese Yellow Curry, Crispy Shrimp and veggies. The Monkfish was cooked perfectly. I had a great sear on it too which gave it a bit of a crunch. I know Monkfish can sometimes be intimidated people because it was pretty ugly looking but let me tell you if it's prepared like this you're going to love it. Some of the best fish I have had. The Vietnamese Yellow Curry paired very well with it too. Wasn't too heavy and didn't over power the fish but just added an extra boost of flavor. I know what you're thinking who could was possibly be hungry for dessert but it sounded good so we ordered the Thai Milk Tea Creme Brulee and the Yuzu Cheesecake. Both were light enough that we could still really enjoy them after all we had eaten. We really like that the Thai Milk Tea Creme Brulee also had bubble boba in it which we didn't expect. We had an amazing meal and for sure be coming back sooner rather then later.

I've included a screenshot from Google Maps to help out with finding them. I went with the Crab Quiche, which was decent. It comes with a side of hash browns which were fantastic. I normally wouldn't go on about hash browns but these were REALLY good! The thing that held the quiche back from being great was that there wasn't a whole lot of crab meat. Lauren had the Breakfast Burrito, added sausage to it and asked for a side of Pico which is something she learned from a previous visit. She's had this burrito before and loves it. She was going on and on about how much she loves it today as well. She actually said "I wish this place was closer to our house because we'd be here way more often" to which I replied "yeah but we have University Diner right by our house, so we're not hurting". Which leads me to a very funny situation: A gentleman showed up at our table like 30 seconds later and said "Hi, I hear you guys go to University Diner? Do you know Andrew? He's my son". We were like "YES! We know Andy!" but the funnier thing was like Lauren had a revelation and said "OH! THAT'S why I love this breakfast burrito so much!"
