Found this little place on Yelp after shopping at the Saint Augustine Outlets. It's about 2 miles inside the gate of World Golf Village so I had to show my Drivers License. It was a little like being on vacation to drive up and have lunch here. Great little menu and I chose the Smashburger which was my first burger with the fried egg on top. It was great! I had a side salad in lieu of sweet potato Or regular fries. Ranch dressing was homemade (the good kind)). Great service! This could be such a great restaurant, but is constantly shooting itself in the foot. I live in the K&B community and want this restaurant to be successful, but dropping $100 for 2 people to have dinner must come with better and knowledgeable wait service, good menu selection , food prepared correctly and drinks served in less than 31 minutes from seating. Running out of bread on Sat night for a 7pm reservation, steaks routinely undercooked per order request, limited appetizer selection (4) and ones that make no sense being appetizers are just a few repeat problems. Slow service to top it off, don't know how many more let downs I can absorb at AJ's. read more

This place is located inside The King and The Bear neighborhood. They offer lunch daily and dinner on Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays. Thursdays they offer an additional tapas menu and flights that changes frequently. Saturdays they have live music and it's always wonderful. Restaurant looks over the golf course and has 2 large fire pits outside. The staff is amazing! You have to ask for Cecilia, Jordan or Erin, they are so fun and caring. Had been wanting to try this place out since we heard they opened and we had friends who lived in WGV so we figured this would be the perfect time to check out AJ's too. I will say you do not have to live in the neighborhood or be playing the course to come here. Once you get to the gate you just let them know your are coming for AJ's. We came in around lunch time on a Saturday afternoon and were pretty surprised by how empty it was. The place is very nice and right on the green. If it wasn't for the summer heat the outdoor patio would be the place to be for food and an drink but since it's 95 outside it was inside for us. I will say the lunch menu was pretty limited. A few apps and 3 sandwich options. A burger, Chicken Bacon Ranch, and Blackened Mahi. Of course on the apps there was a "Pull Apart" Pretzel with Cheese Sauce so we had to have it. The pretzel was good but was a little tough/over cooked at the top. Just needed to be a little thicker. For my entrée I went with the Blackened Mahi Sandwich. It was very good and perfectly cooked with just the right amount of blackening seasoning. My only issue with it was I thought there was just a little too much tarter sauce on it. I will say the fries that came with it are great as well. Well have to come back maybe for dinner since the menu seems much larger then and maybe once it has cooled down a bit. read more

What I loved: it's close to home, with a beautiful outdoor patio and fire pit. l would honestly visit just to have a glass of wine and an appetizer overlooking the golf course. I also loved the service. The food was good, but probably priced a bit high for the portions and flavor. We each had a nice pinot noir, and then my husband ordered a side salad (Iet's put this in the love category, because this was big with plenty of veggies and even pickled onions). He got the short ribs with root beer glaze and I had the seared salmon. This will not be my first choice of dinner out, but it's nice to have a nearby option for a quick drink. read more

Late dinner on a Saturday night with a party of 4 was a pleasant experience at the hidden gem! This restaurant is tucked away in a beautiful neighborhood. The food was good, the service was good, the atmosphere was good! This place reminds me of a country club restaurant with public access. Visiting family that is new to the neighborhood and we tried this. Didn't realize it was in a development, but driving through it was beautiful. We came during lunch and it was pretty much empty. We had a beautiful view of the golf course. Our waitress was a server, bartender, hostess, etc for the entire place and really balanced everything beautifully. We also asked about dinner and she gave us all the info we needed and even brought out a dinner menu for us to look at. She also made us root beer floats for dessert even though it wasn't on the lunch menu! Lunch is everyday until 5, and dinner is only Thurs-Sat. Live music fridays, she said you should definitely make a reservation for that. Anyway, I look forward to visiting again. Food was fresh, delicious, and service was top notch. read more

Going into AJ's I knew they would have a great bar selection as it's inside the King and Bear Clubhouse at World Golf Village. It's easy to get to inside the gated community, just tell them your going to the Restaurant. The glass windows all the way around over looking one of the greens are an amazing site, rain or shine. There is even an outside sitting area and a casual area with a fire pit. They have live music outside every day of the week. What I didn't expect was John, the bartender. He's the only one according to him. Formerly from Jersey, John was a wonderful host, while the bar is busy at a place like this with many patrons ordering drinks bourbons and flights, he was always there to talk to us and make sure we had some amazing drinks. They have a great selections of bourbons and a great menu of hand made, fresh Ingredient cocktails , the margarita was one of those with all organic and fresh ingredient. Even when my wife wasn't sure what she wanted, he made her something that she enjoyed, not from the menu. We went to AJs last Friday and the Saturday before. Just want to report that the food has taken a huge turn! Everything we and our friends had was delicious! A few items we hadn't tried...veal, calamari's...and others we had...no one had any complaints!! So happy as it is a great venue and with golf course renovation going on we want to keep AJs open. The restaurant at World Golf Village is completely remade itself and it's now known as AJ's kitchen. You don't have to be a resident of the K&B to dine here. Just tell the guards at the gate that you are dining at AJ's. They'll waive you right in. The bar has been expanded the interior has been completely redone and there's a really nice outside dining area complete with fire pits and a live band on weekends. John is an excellent bartender and super friendly ! The waitstaff is very accommodating and the service is spectacular. The menu changed - and the food is over the top good. Unfortunately I decided to try AJ's again after a lackluster previous dinner. I took my wife and daughter for dinner on a Saturday night for 6:30 reservations. The place was all but empty. We started with some appetizers, I ordered the chicken wings. The order came out pretty quickly, but the wings were lukewarm and almost cold on the inside. I sent them back and some time later received a piping hot order of wings. They were ok, I wont say they tasted off but they were just not very good tasting. I ordered Chicken Parmesan for my meal. What a received was large flat piece of chicken that more closely resembled cardboard than anything edible. It would not be much of an exaggeration to say the chicken was as dried out and chewy as the chicken jerky strips I feed to my dogs. It was literally the worst chicken I have ever tried to eat. I did not send it back, but I did let the wait staff know after I paid that the kitchen should be made aware of how bad the food was. I waited until after I paid, I was not looking for free food, and our waiter was great, I just wanted the manager to know how bad the food was. And since this was second bad experience in a few months , I also decided to post a review to warn others. read more

This is a beautiful place. Quiet and the patio will be wonderful in the fall. Wish they had someone managing it that knew restaurant/bar business. There are too many nearby places to eat and drink in our area now. They have much less expensive menu and happy hour. Don't want to pay $10 for a simple drink when it is 1/2 that price other places. Granted, the food is very good, but the place is empty and won't be operating very long. Need to take advice of the employees who have experience in bringing in the crowd!! The pretzel charcuterie board was very good and a lot of it. We seriously could have just split that. The prosciutto was a little tough. Easily fixed with an order for a sharp nice to cut it into small pieces. Fondue was excellent and the soft pretzel was damn near perfect. I got short rib and scollops scallops were food correct, but can across a little fishy, but otherwise great. My wife ordered the steak and it was great. They were running into some technical issues with computers, but that is when you see if it is a good restaurant or just falls apart. They held it together very well. They informed there was an issue first off, which is points in my book. Second they kept checking on us regularly and lastly we had more than one person stop by to ask how we were. Sign of a very well run establishment. Lastly when visiting you will have to go through a gated entrance, just have your ID handy let the guard know your going to AJ's they will run your ID give you directions and your off. I wanted to like this place more, but sadly didn't have the best experience. The margarita was just ok. My husband and I started out with appetizers. He had the wedge salad, which he really enjoyed. I ordered the clams. I was so confused as to why they even brought them out as they were, but figured maybe someone didn't notice. 4 of the clams weren't opened. The ones that were open, however, were delicious. After that we opted to pass on dinner. The waitress was lovely and saw the issue right away when she returned to clear my plate and was gracious enough to have it removed from the bill. Other than that, the atmosphere was very pretty.
