Anyplace you go that doesn't have a paved walkway or paved parking is the first red flag? Went there Saturday waited 20 minutes still no one came to our took to ask us if we wanted to have a drink? I flagged down a waiter finally if he could send someone over. Finally server came and he apologized and said he had a table of 10? He took our orders and we put in an appetizer I figured do it now see how long that takes . Well our drinks came but no app if another 15 minutes and the place wasn't that packed. The server came over and said your app should be out shortly he sensed we weren't happy and said to us I know you aren't happy I m having my manager come over, so the manager comes up all smiley and says I hear you are not happy he said let me apologize we have a table of 50 inside. I stood up and said that's your problem not mine, me and my wife walked out. Never again to this rat hole. read more

Food was very good and they had big portions sizes. Will definitely be back. One disappointment was that on our beignet desert it had whipped topping instead of whipped cream, whipped topping tastes like synthetic junk, spend a little more and use the real deal, no excuse to use that junk at a decent restaurant. read more

We decided to go here for my grandmother's birthday. It was absolutely wonderful from the service to the food to the dessert. We enjoyed so many delicious appetizers, entrées, and the unforgettable bread pudding. We started off with brussels sprouts the grouper bites and the fish dip. All were delicious. This is a great place to have a happy hour with the outdoor bar or sit outside for a nice family dinner or date night. I cannot wait to go back to try all the delicious food. I will tell you you cannot leave this restaurant without getting the bread pudding. read more

We've been to Boathouse before and loved it, so we were excited to come back for brunch -- but this visit was disappointing. The drinks were weak, and my husband's French toast came out burnt. They remade it, but the second plate was still overcooked, just slightly less than the first. At that point we decided to leave and eat somewhere else instead. Given our first experience, we know they're capable of better, but based on this visit, we can't recommend it. read more

The food was very good. Great atmosphere with a great view. They had Josh Worthy playing that night and he was great along with his sidekick. Best of all, was a special dessert they offered that night, the sticky cake with bourbon caramel glaze...absolutely the yummiest dessert ever. I hope they have it next time we go. read more

Poor experience today unfortunately. Had a reservation for 12pm brunch for a birthday for a group of 14, table wasn't ready until 12:30, that's ok. Service was a bit slow once we sat, several people ordered the bottomless mimosa/Bloody Mary option and were waiting around with empty glasses for a while before we saw our server again. Entrees took one and a half hours to come out and when they did, they were kinda disappointing. Cold potatoes and eggs, bacon with a thick layer of lard on it (we thought it was frosting). Management comped the meal after we made it known we were unhappy, which we appreciated, but everyone had to go get food elsewhere after we left, so it was basically just a waste of 2 and half hours. read more

The Boathouse - Bacon - Seafood Near Me - St Augustine, Florida

We went for dinner with a group. I had a half dozen very fresh oysters. My partner and I split the low country boil. It was very tasty. We bought some home and it was still good the next day. Everyone at our table enjoyed what they had. We stayed for a couple of hours and enjoyed some good music. The patio was enjoyable. Our server wasn't as attentive as we would like but it was an enjoyable evening. read more

The parking is great, huge lot and it sits on the water. Arriving on a foggy evening no one was outside but they had a nice fire going on the patio. We had to wait a bit for a table so we headed to the bar. It had a dead vibe and the bartender seemed off. Weird stuff floating in my draft beer. When we received our table we ordered Brussel sprouts for the appetizer. They were precooked and reheated. Old, dark black and greasy. The beet salad came warm. Meaning the lettuce was warm. The stuffed grouper was lukewarm with a cold crab cake stuffed in the middle. The lobster bisque was over microwaved and too hot. Nothing was exceptional or innovative. I can't believe the good reviews. It was more like the Red Lobster of the historic district. Completely forgettable and unenjoyable. I don't recommend. The waitress was fine but detached as well. Odd experience. read more

WOW! Absolutely my new favorite restaurant! Absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked meals, innovative menu, great service, gorgeous setting and caring staff! Best lobster roll I've ever had! Scallops beautifully seared and delicious, salad was spectacular and the plantain side dish just outrageously delicious and unique!!! read more

Great place! The shrimp special on Tuesdays drove us there and we sat at the bar. Our bartender was excellent, not just with us newbies, but with all.the other patrons as well as there were questions about the specialty drinks by several people. The sushi and grouper bites on the happy hour menu were both great. My sangria could have used some fruit (1 thick orange slice) or sweetness but that could just be my tastebuds. My husband ordered the shrimp and due to the special he had each preparation. The shrimp were cooked perfectly each time. I enjoyed more sushi. It was too cold to sit outside, but we enjoyed the tropical vibe indoors. We will be back. read more

The menu is nice and the food is good, but I wish the weekend brunch had more seafood options. The service is a bit slow, but expected during peak times. My only complaint was the indoor noise level was a bit loud. read more

I recently visited the Boathouse for dinner. The noise level was "high" from children screaming and it appeared that voices amplified through the room. The food during this visit was not tasty; the fish was dry (Mahi-Mahi). The best thing on the place was fried rice (go figure). This was my second visit but this will probably be my last. I'm not sure if the menu selection was changed but whatever was done it was not for the betterment of the overall visit. Lastly, the server was efficient and the restaurant was clean. Addendum: I truly enjoyed the first visit ; that's why i returned. The food was great and the serving size was more than ample. read more

I was on a vacation/business trip. Looking for places to take clients and customers too as well as enjoy a good meal with my family that came along on this trip. I like to go to local restaurants to give back to the community business. I was told the Boat House would be great. We arrived at 845pm and were seated outside. 1st problem it was dark on the deck and there was no lighting to even see the menu. We had to use our cell phones to see what to order. We ordered drinks and a couple of appetizers. They came out in 10 mins. We then put our main order in. very simple fish and shrimp times four. 2nd problem the waitress kept trying to sells us more drinks but I wanted food first before I drink to much. A few things happened that should have been warning signs. The live music ended and where gone at 930pm. The wait staff seemed more interested in the dogs that customers brought in and the cat(Oyster is his name and he will eat some of your dinner s what I was told) walking on the tables looking for food. To some this would be fun to a family just wanting a peaceful meal away from pets it was not. 3rd and final problem was the food never arrived after waiting an hour after ordering. The waitress stated the kitchen was slammed. With what? There was only other table sitting on the deck. All the others, 3 total had checks for there food and have been sitting talking for a while. We had enough and instead of just walking out we were going to pay for our drinks and appetizers. I stopped at the front desk and told the person what had happen and we where leaving to go to another restaurant. The manager I assumed stepped in and ask us to stay he was going to take care of the meal. It's now 1010pm. I have a hungry 16yr and 19 yr old from college that want to eat. The wife is not happy either that we waited that long. I refused and try to pay for what we did have. They would not take the payment on the 3rd try to pay I said forget and we left. We ended up going to a national food restaurant had everything from drinks to dinner in 23 mins and this was in a packed restaurant. Unfortunately I will not be back. If this where my clients with me, I would be embarrassed for bringing them here. No excuses for not taking care of the final customers of the night. Get some table lighting so the customer can at least see the menu. Enough with the animals, if I want to eat dinner wit the cats and dogs I would ask for it but its rude to those customers that don't want that during there dinner. read more

The service was good from Xena but the restaurant itself did not seem that clean and the seafood was just OK. The lobster bisque was the best thing we had. We tried conch fritters and crab legs. I did not want to try any other "fresh" or ras after hearing comments from another table. It also did not seem to be the most welcoming place for a diverse family. We won't try again. read more

We had previously been to the Ponte Vedra Boathouse restaurant several times and always had a great experience so we figured we would try this location today. It was a bad decision. We arrived 15 minutes early for a 1 o'clock reservation. We were told we would have to wait for a table closer to our reservation. Not thrilled but no big deal. We were seated at 1. Mikayla, our server, then took our orders. It then took one hour to get our food. When it finally came out, the order was wrong. One member of our party had ordered lobster bisque as well as mussels. However, there were no mussels. When we told her, she said the kitchen failed to see them on the slip. She said they would rush them through. A half hour later, still no mussels. At that point, we canceled the mussels and had them removed from the check. Needless to say, service was bad. At the same time, three or four hostesses, as well as the manager, spent most of their time standing at the hostess stand. In the future, we will probably not return to this location. read more

The Boathouse is at the top of our go to list! Been in twice - different - excellent experiences both times! The food is beautiful and really good - hot and tasty (except the sushi) - Service is top rate - they are on you and attentive the whole time! It's a beautiful place on the water - when the tide is in - and the patio outside is fun! You need to go and repeat! They also have The Outback Crab Shack and The Grouper Shack - also favorites!!! Had the pleasure of dining here again. We did not have a reservation but we're seated quickly. Our server John was very attentive. We are visiting from up north and stopped in. Let me tell you that we had a wonderful experience. Makayla our waitress was very informative and personable and funny. That's a huge plus for us. Great sushi selection with king salmon, fatty tuna, fatty yellowtail on a MONDAY. The margaritas here made by Julianna are a must have. Scott the operations manager stopped by and asked how everything was and was very personable, heck, everyone here was. We are here for a week and love trying new restaurants and we will be back to sample more of their menu. read more

Went for the oyster happy hour Oysters were very, very good and huge actually The only downfall is that every bite you take, there were broken up shells I would try to rinse the oyster off in the melted ice tray, however, there were so many shells it was impossible not to get a shell in every bite. Not sure I would go back here for oysters But size and flavor were amazing Not sure how to combat the broken tiny shells in every bite without complaining to the waitress. read more

We had the oyster deviled eggs and brussels appetizers, crab legs, fried grouper & scallops, 1/2 dozen raw oysters, and the walnut and beet salad. Everything was delicious and the seafood was undeniably fresh. We learned all of their fish is sushi grade. The service was great and the atmosphere was southern comfort with class. I heard you can roast marshmallow on their porch fire, something we'll try another time. read more

the Boathouse is a rip off. The sangria was like flavored water with little wine, they were out of oysters which we wanted, the Caesar Salad was mush with too much dressing,, not crispy and not chilled! The steamed clams were just ok with the broth. the fried grouper puffs were too salty. We also ordered blackened salmon with cheese grits and a burrata salad . The salmon and burrata were delivered after a 1 1/2 wait, but we lost our appetite, so we cancelled the two items, paid for what we ordered and left, never to return!!! read more

Great local restaurant. Been to it several times. Everything on the menu is decent but DO NOT try the oysters. I tried it twice and I thought it was only the one time but it was the same the second time. I think it's their thing. They're dirty, shelly (I choked on a shell), and they are not fresh. They were oily and had white ooze coming out from them. Gross! However, if you're able to grab a seat at the bar, the bartenders are great. They also have happy hour from 4-7pm. There's only like 12 seats so come early. Pics from 2 visits (one from Monday and Wednesday) to check out their specials. Monday Crab Legs, Tuesday Shrimp, Wednesday Oysters, Thursday Lobster) if available. We haven't tried lobster (yet). Yes to crablegs and shrimp. read more

We went on their AYCE shrimp night and the weather was mild, so we sat on the patio. It was very large and overlooked the water, but it was low tide, so it was more mud, which could have contributed to the quantity of flies...which is beyond their control so my review is not taking that into consideration, but just providing it as information. The food was excellent, however, the service on the AYCE special was very slow. My husband ordered an additional serving of shrimp, the server came out and said that they had some large parties, so the fried shrimp would take a while. If you are advertising AYCE, it shouldn't take 20 minutes to get an order. The coleslaw and the grilled shrimp and fries were very good. read more

More of a 3.5. We came for the Tuesday AYCE shrimp. 6:30 with a reservation worked well but there wasn't really a line or anything and there were available tables both inside and on the deck. There were quite a few large parties but it wasn't crazy busy as one would expect on an AYCE night. I think I know why now - at least from this experience. Your three options are blackened, grilled, and fried. I started with blackened and received two skewers along with my two sides of pimento cheese grits and collards. The 10 shrimp were very good. The grits were well balanced - not overly seasoned but the collards were just ok. I tried some of my wife's grilled shrimp and they were good as well. For my first reorder, I went for the fried and it took quite a while for my five shrimp to arrive. The waiter let us know the big parties were causing a slow down in the kitchen but honestly, I felt it was an intentional stall. I reordered another batch of anything fast but decided I didn't want to wait after more than what I felt was ample time. This was basically a Red Lobster endless shrimp experience but with better food. IYKYK - same tactics. Overall not a bad meal but I wouldn't drive down here for any of the AYCE deals. read more
