We decided to go here for my grandmother's birthday. It was absolutely wonderful from the service to the food to the dessert. We enjoyed so many delicious appetizers, entrées, and the unforgettable bread pudding. We started off with brussels sprouts the grouper bites and the fish dip. All were delicious. the Boathouse is a rip off. The sangria was like flavored water with little wine, they were out of oysters which we wanted, the Caesar Salad was mush with too much dressing,, not crispy and not chilled! The steamed clams were just ok with the broth. the fried grouper puffs were too salty. We also ordered blackened salmon with cheese grits and a burrata salad . The salmon and burrata were delivered after a 1 1/2 wait, but we lost our appetite, so we cancelled the two items, paid for what we ordered and left, never to return!!! read more

We went for dinner with a group. I had a half dozen very fresh oysters. My partner and I split the low country boil. It was very tasty. We bought some home and it was still good the next day. I was on a vacation/business trip. Looking for places to take clients and customers too as well as enjoy a good meal with my family that came along on this trip. I like to go to local restaurants to give back to the community business. I was told the Boat House would be great. We arrived at 845pm and were seated outside. 1st problem it was dark on the deck and there was no lighting to even see the menu. We had to use our cell phones to see what to order. We ordered drinks and a couple of appetizers. They came out in 10 mins. We then put our main order in. very simple fish and shrimp times four. 2nd problem the waitress kept trying to sells us more drinks but I wanted food first before I drink to much. A few things happened that should have been warning signs. The live music ended and where gone at 930pm. The wait staff seemed more interested in the dogs that customers brought in and the cat(Oyster is his name and he will eat some of your dinner s what I was told) walking on the tables looking for food. To some this would be fun to a family just wanting a peaceful meal away from pets it was not. 3rd and final problem was the food never arrived after waiting an hour after ordering. The waitress stated the kitchen was slammed. With what? There was only other table sitting on the deck. All the others, 3 total had checks for there food and have been sitting talking for a while. We had enough and instead of just walking out we were going to pay for our drinks and appetizers. I stopped at the front desk and told the person what had happen and we where leaving to go to another restaurant. The manager I assumed stepped in and ask us to stay he was going to take care of the meal. It's now 1010pm. I have a hungry 16yr and 19 yr old from college that want to eat. The wife is not happy either that we waited that long. I refused and try to pay for what we did have. They would not take the payment on the 3rd try to pay I said forget and we left. We ended up going to a national food restaurant had everything from drinks to dinner in 23 mins and this was in a packed restaurant. Unfortunately I will not be back. If this where my clients with me, I would be embarrassed for bringing them here. No excuses for not taking care of the final customers of the night. Get some table lighting so the customer can at least see the menu. Enough with the animals, if I want to eat dinner wit the cats and dogs I would ask for it but its rude to those customers that don't want that during there dinner. read more

The parking is great, huge lot and it sits on the water. Arriving on a foggy evening no one was outside but they had a nice fire going on the patio. We had to wait a bit for a table so we headed to the bar. It had a dead vibe and the bartender seemed off. Weird stuff floating in my draft beer. When we received our table we ordered Brussel sprouts for the appetizer. They were precooked and reheated. Old, dark black and greasy. The beet salad came warm. Meaning the lettuce was warm. The stuffed grouper was lukewarm with a cold crab cake stuffed in the middle. The lobster bisque was over microwaved and too hot. Nothing was exceptional or innovative. I can't believe the good reviews. It was more like the Red Lobster of the historic district. Completely forgettable and unenjoyable. I don't recommend. The waitress was fine but detached as well. Great place! The shrimp special on Tuesdays drove us there and we sat at the bar. Our bartender was excellent, not just with us newbies, but with all.the other patrons as well as there were questions about the specialty drinks by several people. The sushi and grouper bites on the happy hour menu were both great. My sangria could have used some fruit (1 thick orange slice) or sweetness but that could just be my tastebuds. My husband ordered the shrimp and due to the special he had each preparation. The shrimp were cooked perfectly each time. I enjoyed more sushi. I recently visited the Boathouse for dinner. The noise level was "high" from children screaming and it appeared that voices amplified through the room. The food during this visit was not tasty; the fish was dry (Mahi-Mahi). The best thing on the place was fried rice (go figure).This was my second visit but this will probably be my last. I'm not sure if the menu selection was changed but whatever was done it was not for the betterment of the overall visit. Lastly, the server was efficient and the restaurant was clean. We had previously been to the Ponte Vedra Boathouse restaurant several times and always had a great experience so we figured we would try this location today. It was a bad decision. We arrived 15 minutes early for a 1 o'clock reservation. We were told we would have to wait for a table closer to our reservation. Not thrilled but no big deal. We were seated at 1. Mikayla, our server, then took our orders. It then took one hour to get our food. When it finally came out, the order was wrong. One member of our party had ordered lobster bisque as well as mussels. However, there were no mussels. When we told her, she said the kitchen failed to see them on the slip. She said they would rush them through. A half hour later, still no mussels. At that point, we canceled the mussels and had them removed from the check. Needless to say, service was bad. At the same time, three or four hostesses, as well as the manager, spent most of their time standing at the hostess stand. In the future, we will probably not return to this location. read more

We are visiting from up north and stopped in. Let me tell you that we had a wonderful experience. Makayla our waitress was very informative and personable and funny. That's a huge plus for us. Great sushi selection with king salmon, fatty tuna, fatty yellowtail on a MONDAY. The margaritas here made by Julianna are a must have. Scott the operations manager stopped by and asked how everything was and was very personable, heck, everyone here was. We are here for a week and love trying new restaurants and we will be back to sample more of their menu. read more

I tried it twice and I thought it was only the one time but it was the same the second time. I think it's their thing. They're dirty, shelly (I choked on a shell), and they are not fresh. We went on a Monday which is when they serve 2 sets of crab legs for $12 with the purchase of an appetizer, which is such a steal. We started off by sharing some of Jason's Brussels and the shrimp pot stickers, they were both very much amazing. Brussels were some of the best I've had at a restaurant, my only complaint is that there was a lot of sausage and bacon in the dish and I wish they scaled back a bit on it. We ended up leaving some of the meat behind because there was just so much. Crab legs were yummy, a little on the salty side from the water they cooked them in but the butter cut some of the salt so they were still good. The shrimp and grits were phenomenal, shrimp was cooked to perfection and the flavor combo was spectacular. We will definitely be coming back for more of them! Service was good, served did his best as he was serving the whole room with no help from other staff aimlessly walking around, took a hot minute to get our drinks. The food was so good and we had a 3 course meal (appetizers, entree, dessert) and it was so delicious, my daughter got the oysters for only $3.60. They have specials everyday which is nice. The place is so pretty because it's on the water and we sat outside so it was even better, we sat on the deck and they had a cat out there name "oyster" he's very cute and it's great entertainment for the kids plus they have music playing some days. The last thing I'm going to say is the waiter was so nice, his name was Carson and he was very nice and was always serving us and making sure we had what we needed. SUSHI was amazing. The sushi chef is an icon, we came and sat with us (we were the last ones there) and for those that do not know, he opened a "before it's time" French/Japanese 20 years ago. I ate there, it blew my mind what they were doing. His resturant that was all the rage. My Brother In Law, the most picky eater in the world, drove us out there and it was his favorite in the San Fran Area. Too bad it closed. At this resturant, The Boathouse, and our portions on our dinner large. Service was great by a young attentive woman, Lily. The Sushi was top notch and NOT TO MISSED here. So fresh, so well done, so well presented. No pics of the sushi as we downed it slowly and with savor. My buddy in Jacksonville recommended and it is now one of my favorites. Actually made another reservation a couple days later to go back, that is rare for me. GO and get the sushi, even as an appitizer, then you regret you didn't eat sushi for your main course! It was very large and overlooked the water, but it was low tide, so it was more mud, which could have contributed to the quantity of flies...which is beyond their control so my review is not taking that into consideration, but just providing it as information. The food was excellent, however, the service on the AYCE special was very slow. My husband ordered an additional serving of shrimp, the server came out and said that they had some large parties, so the fried shrimp would take a while. More of a 3.5. We came for the Tuesday AYCE shrimp. 6:30 with a reservation worked well but there wasn't really a line or anything and there were available tables both inside and on the deck. There were quite a few large parties but it wasn't crazy busy as one would expect on an AYCE night. I think I know why now - at least from this experience. Your three options are blackened, grilled, and fried. I started with blackened and received two skewers along with my two sides of pimento cheese grits and collards. The 10 shrimp were very good. The grits were well balanced - not overly seasoned but the collards were just ok. I tried some of my wife's grilled shrimp and they were good as well. For my first reorder, I went for the fried and it took quite a while for my five shrimp to arrive. The waiter let us know the big parties were causing a slow down in the kitchen but honestly, I felt it was an intentional stall. I reordered another batch of anything fast but decided I didn't want to wait after more than what I felt was ample time. This was basically a Red Lobster endless shrimp experience but with better food. IYKYK - same tactics. Overall not a bad meal but I wouldn't drive down here for any of the AYCE deals. read more
