Some friends and I came to St Augustine for a bachelorette party, and for the first night we wanted something easy for dinner. Saw this online, and that it was close to us. We drove up, and had no idea it was a string of different food trucks. We all ended up buying from uptown scratch kitchen. It was our favorite food of the weekend! I got the popper burger and the fries. The fries were cooked with rosemary and were amazing. We will def be back!!
Looking for a reasonable bite to eat with some atmosphere. Well, expect to pay, even at a food truck. I ordered the Philly steak. There was some seasoning added that altered the taste. Cheap generic hotdog type roll. Onion rings were $7.00 for five pieces. Waaaay overpriced and disappointing.
Fresh and local ingredients are used to make all their yummy dishes. The fish and chips were great. 2 pieces of Cod and a good portion of fries. The fried garlic cloves are yummy but not the pieces of rosemary. The burger was large and delicious. They are very pricey though. 2 burgers with fries and fish and chips were almost $60!
This review is for customer service in fixing a first time visit fail and perfection food. Our first visit was rough as our first meals were so salty that we could not eat any of it-and we got it to go so we did not feel like going back. That same night I messaged the food truck in FB about our meals. I asked to have a do over another time and he said of course. Tonight we did a do over and it was some of the best fried fish ever and we just moved here from New Hampshire. The fish is so good you don't need tartar sauce. The onion rings were the perfect thickness of batter and the onions were sweet! The rosemary fries and actually fried with stems of fresh rosemary and whole garlic cloves. Please try a few fries with a chunk of garlic. The chicken batter is so crunchy and meat so tender. Boneless chicken thighs are the most genius choice for fried chicken -first time I ever have had fried chicken thighs. The view at Marina munch is romantic and beautiful in the evening.
This place was good and FYI the portions are really big, I definitely wish they had an a la carte menu. I ordered the South Philly Cheesesteak which came with Garlic Rosemary Fries. My husband ordered the 1/2 lb Colorado Beef Burger which also came with Garlic Rosemary Fries. It was A LOT of food. I could barely finish half of my South Philly Cheesesteak. Hence why I wish they did A la Carte menu items. The Garlic Rosemary Fries were 10/10 AMAZING. They actually fried the fries with whole garlic and fresh rosemary. Quality ingredients. Definitely stop by if you're visiting St Augustine.
This was my first visit to the food trucks. There are plenty of food choices, but I couldn't resist the Shrimp and Grits and calamari at the Uptown Scratch Kitchen. No disappointment!! This was amazing! My friend got the burger...because they are fresh, she was able to get a 1/4 lb instead of the 1/2 lb. The flavor was perfect on the Shrimp and grits. The portion is big enough for two meals...yay! Leftovers! I am a shrimp & grits and calamari snob, and both were amazingly flavorful. My friend got the rosemary fries with her cheeseburger and they are very good. The owner, Kyle, knocked this visit out of the park. The seating capacity is limited, but we waited for a table and we had an amazing view. A new favorite place!!
Ordered last minute and was not disappointed. Everything was fresh and delicious. The toppings were creative and the owner was really nice. Will be coming back here anytime I'm in St.Augustine make sure to look at the menu that's not on yelp it is limited and doesn't have everything!
Why does this place not have a whole restaurant space? Even with the tiny menu, I know they do a brisk business. And do you know why they do so well?? It's because they know. their. craft. My husband tried to sell me on this place for the fried chicken. Generally, that's not in my realm of "foods I crave" but, if he says it's good, I generally give it a fair shake. He was certainly right. The fried chicken (and the fried fish) are the things fried food dreams are made of. Well seasoned, crispy, tender, juicy and mouthwatering. That said, prepare to wait. Everything is cooked to order so it's all plenty hot when it comes to you. It's the kind of place you bring out of towners to impress with the quality of food in the area. And the place you go to get your gluttony on. It's the place you go when you need the best fried chicken or fish in town. Run, don't walk to try anything off the menu. My only gripe is that the garlic rosemary fries aren't crispy. They're still worthy of drool though!
While driving to St. Augustine, my boyfriend and I were looking for a lunch spot nearby. I did a quick Yelp search and the first thing that popped up was Uptown Scratch Kitchen, with its perfect rating. I had my heart set on the soft shell crab po'boy but then I found out that that was just a daily special. They have different things on the menu everyday, which is a good sign - because that probably means they'll only use ingredients they can get for that day. It also takes about half an hour for the food to come out, which is another good sign - because that probably means they'll make your order fresh. I ended up getting the shrimp po'boy, which came with a side of battered onion rings. Everything was pretty good. But after the first half, all that fried stuff gets to be a bit much. BF had the fish and chips + shrimp combo, which came with some rosemary fries. Again, too much fried stuff. So if you're going with a friend, I would recommend one person getting fried, and the other getting something that's non-fried (from the reviews, it seems like their burger is pretty good). Although Uptown Scratch is a food truck, there are a few tables next to the truck. You can also order at the truck, grab a seat in the cafe next door, and then they'll bring you your food. I'm glad we stumbled upon this place and this town!
This food truck has been on my radar thanks to Anthony (@devouringjax) and we made it just in time. The truck has outgrown its tiny spot and will be closing it's doors to open a new four walls location! They open at 12 which is a little late for lunch but we spent the time exploring the two other spots near by (Creme de la Cocoa and Dos Coffee & Wine). The menu at Uptown is small but everything is made in house. We opted for the fish and chips and the shrimp po boy. Our initial impression was "wow, that is a meal" and it only got better from there. The fish was lightly battered with a great seasoning, not too salty. The rosemary fries were cut right in front of us while we waited! They even make their own ketchup. The shrimp po boy easily had 15 shrimp on it and they were so fresh. The onion rings were also a delightful change from fries. The truck offers outdoor tables or you are welcome to eat inside at Dos and order beverages etc. We enjoyed the fresh air and an ice coffee. It truly was a great meal so rush down there now if you can't wait. Otherwise, save this spot because I see big things in their future.
The gentleman in the food truck was so nice and answered any questions that we had! I enjoyed the fresh catch St Augustine Tacos; the fish was cooked perfectly, and the rosemary fries were incredible! We also had the Datil Philly which was the perfect amount of zest and flavor. We will absolutely be back! read more

The food was amazing!! I had the shrimp and my husband had tacos with jerk chicken. We both had the rosemary garlic fries (which had whole cloves of garlic that had been fried with the fries! Amazing!). Everything was delicious. The fries were fresh cut. The food options were great! We will definitely be back when we are in the area. read more

ive tried a lot of Fish and Chips, but nothing compares to this food truck! the rosemary fries are something you could have dreams about. they hand cut the potatoes ready to order, which is really a fresh touch. i also love the caribbean jerk chicken; it has the perfect amount of spice, and the pineapple salsa on top gives a nice burst of flavor. 5/5 all around! my family comes here every year now! read more

OK so we don't live far from Saint Augustine so we visit quite frequently. I myself have not really had any great food off a food truck. They have a great little spot tucked away beside a trendy coffee shop. We were told we could eat inside. We went in and the temperature was a bit warm inside and seating was not the most comfy so back outside we went to the picnic tables. When it is almost 7pm the temperature was great and the bugs have not yet started biting . So after seeing some of the reviews about the fish and grits being spicy I asked and was told that the fish is cooked blackened so it's not really spicy. Well pepper can be spicy to some folks. And normally don't like blackened but we got it. We also got the fried chicken with onion rings and we got fries. OK to start with the fish and grits my first few bites were good. But, that was only because of the three shrimp i got to eat with the grits. Blackened fish is just not my thing, I passed it my husband. He thought is was just good ... The onion rings and chicken did not wow us...crispy but lacked flavor on both. I think we got the fries for free and they looked like the recooked leftovers....the decent ones we had were tasty. I would give this place another shot ordering different items. read more
Okay! Wow! Never have I seen 5 stars for any place with this many reviews, and 2 not thought come on you paid people, gave free food in some way bought the review ( yes I can be very cynical). This is not the case here this place is awesome food is slow to arrive by today's standards but patience is mans best virtue, and when it comes sit back and enjoy 5 star food and service from a fine dining establishment. Keep up the good work and continue to skip the problems that come with Whey! Again BZ (Bravo Zulu) read more

Ok, must go! Just had the best fish and chips!! Ono as we say in Hawaii. For a small food truck, they pump out excellent food. Fresh fish caught that am or organic chicken are on the menu. In a hurry, go somewhere else. Excellence takes time, and this is worth the wait. Sit at the outside picnic tables or go inside the coffee and wine place whom from the looks of it, has a partnership. It was too early in the day for me, but you can get wine at this place to pair with your feast. Yummy! read more

We made this a stop on vacation because of how well rated it was and the great reviews. Ordered ours burgers ahead of time in case there was a wait. We arrived at 7pm and were surprised they were closing up since their Google hours said they closed at 8 and their online ordering allowed ordering until 8pm. I walked up to the window and he said they were closing, but when I told him I already ordered he grabbed my food without a word. I open my meal and old and over fried fries are in the box. We paid $4 extra EACH for garlic rosemary fries. I went back and said they gave me normal fries and the cashier said, no those are garlic rosemary you just have to look really deep in there. Then, someone from the back said "Dude, we are out of garlic rosemary fries." This guy continues to tell me these dry and bare fries are garlic rosemary but then I said, "Didn't that guy just say you are out?" And he said, "Well the fries all come from the same fryer so it's basically the same." Yes...except they have neither rosemary or garlic. I told him I would. It have paid extra if I knew I wasn't getting what I paid for and he just said there was nothing he could do. Customer service was non-existent, burger was good, non-garlic rosemary fries were burnt and gross. Do not bother with this place off of the way they treat customers. read more

This place is legit! We have been half wanting to try it and half not wanting to (it's a food truck- how good could it be???). Umm it's really really good. Everything is fresh. Even the ketchup tastes fresh. Maybe it's not - maybe I just had stars in my eyes at that point, but it tasted like it was!! We tried the burger and the Philly cheesesteak. Both were absolutely heavenly, but the cheesesteak was in another galaxy. Truly one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. I will definitely at least share it again (I have to try some other stuff too - that shrimp po boy looked unbelievable!!) read more

This place exceded my expectations! We Came here after a morning at the beach. I loved that, despite being a food truck, they offered indoor seating at the wine and coffee bar, DOS, next door. Having just come off the beach, we sat on shaded picnic tables and were perfectly comfortable. The food takes a little bit longer (20-25min), but is worth the wait! We ordered the fish and grits and shrimp poboy with onion rings. Both were great portions and delicious!! Big enough that you could share. Definitely going to return, everything we saw come out the the kitchen looked incredible and the staff was so friendly! read more

My boyfriend and I had to travel back down to St. Augustine for the day, so I looked up places to have lunch. I wanted something local and didn't want to pick up fast food before our drive back and found Uptown Scratch Kitchen. It is right next to a coffee shop with lots of outside seating. The owner was super sweet and food does take a bit of time-- if you are in a hurry, I wouldn't recommend here because everything is made to order. I ordered the Famous Fried Chicken with onion rings, while he had the 1/2 lb Colorado Beef Burger with fries. I throughly enjoyed the fried chicken and onion rings and thought everything was yummy. However, the chicken was just a tad too salty and I would have liked the onion rings to have more onion and less batter. Boyfriend said his burger was fine and didn't elaborate more. His garlic-rosemary fries were good though! read more

This food truck delivers a slightly upscale meal in a really cool environment. The chef was extremely courteous and made the experience great! We were able to sit and wait in the coffee shop on the property with the food truck and our delicious food was delivered to us there. My salmon was perfectly cooked and the rosemary garlic fries were crispy and just perfect for my meal of fish and chips! My husband had the Etouffee which was also wonderful. The Mahi Mahi and shrimp were juicy and succulent! It had the right amount of New Orlean spice to give it a welcomed kick! I'll definitely return when visiting St. Augustine again! read more

Loved this cute little food stand so much on my trip to Saint Augustine. Yes, I know-it takes a little while to get your food, but damnitt people it's being made to order to ensure its hot and fresh for your satisfaction. So do these kind people a favor and be a little more patient! Whew, now that that's out of the way; let's talk about the highlights! For starters, they feature a rotating menu. I like this mainly because as a Gemini, I like to change it up. I usually never like to order the same thing from a place. How basic. So, since I was in Saint Augustine you know I just had to order some seafood. I choose to go with their version of fish and grits, and I wasn't disappointed. Very tasty! A nice little mix of flavors with the fish, grits, balsamic vinaigrette, salsa, and fresh greens. Presentation was on point too, and the staff was friendly and delivered my food to me inside of the coffee shop that customers can choose to dine in. A must visit when visiting good ole Saint Augustine! read more
