This review is for customer service in fixing a first time visit fail and perfection food. Our first visit was rough as our first meals were so salty that we could not eat any of it-and we got it to go so we did not feel like going back. That same night I messaged the food truck in FB about our meals. I asked to have a do over another time and he said of course. Tonight we did a do over and it was some of the best fried fish ever and we just moved here from New Hampshire. The fish is so good you don't need tartar sauce. The onion rings were the perfect thickness of batter and the onions were sweet! The rosemary fries and actually fried with stems of fresh rosemary and whole garlic cloves. Today while driving around to an appt we decided to give it a try to the food truck parked by the Marina. The food is seasoned well, but too salty, need to ease on the salt. Customer service was good and she even brought the food to the table we were sitting to wait for the food to be ready. I ordered the Chicken meal, it was a lot of food and my husband got the shrimp. We both got a Salt shock, the flavor was there, it just got lost in the salt. I wish they can reduce the amount of salt and we are looking at very delicious food. While driving to St. Augustine, my boyfriend and I were looking for a lunch spot nearby. I did a quick Yelp search and the first thing that popped up was Uptown Scratch Kitchen, with its perfect rating. I had my heart set on the soft shell crab po'boy but then I found out that that was just a daily special. They have different things on the menu everyday, which is a good sign - because that probably means they'll only use ingredients they can get for that day. It also takes about half an hour for the food to come out, which is another good sign - because that probably means they'll make your order fresh. I ended up getting the shrimp po'boy, which came with a side of battered onion rings. Everything was pretty good. But after the first half, all that fried stuff gets to be a bit much. BF had the fish and chips + shrimp combo, which came with some rosemary fries. Again, too much fried stuff. So if you're going with a friend, I would recommend one person getting fried, and the other getting something that's non-fried (from the reviews, it seems like their burger is pretty good). Although Uptown Scratch is a food truck, there are a few tables next to the truck. You can also order at the truck, grab a seat in the cafe next door, and then they'll bring you your food. This food truck has been on my radar thanks to Anthony (@devouringjax) and we made it just in time. The truck has outgrown its tiny spot and will be closing it's doors to open a new four walls location! They open at 12 which is a little late for lunch but we spent the time exploring the two other spots near by (Creme de la Cocoa and Dos Coffee & Wine). The menu at Uptown is small but everything is made in house. We opted for the fish and chips and the shrimp po boy. Our initial impression was "wow, that is a meal" and it only got better from there. The fish was lightly battered with a great seasoning, not too salty. The rosemary fries were cut right in front of us while we waited! They even make their own ketchup. The shrimp po boy easily had 15 shrimp on it and they were so fresh. The onion rings were also a delightful change from fries. The truck offers outdoor tables or you are welcome to eat inside at Dos and order beverages etc. We enjoyed the fresh air and an ice coffee. It truly was a great meal so rush down there now if you can't wait. Otherwise, save this spot because I see big things in their future. read more

I really enjoyed this food truck. It's situated at a marina with many picnic tables available to sit at. The view is beautiful, especially on a nice day. I got the fish and chips. The fish was flaky and cooked perfectly. I am picky about fish and absolutely loved it! The fries were delicious. They season with them rosemary. The only reason I gave a 4 star is the price. Although you do get plenty of food, for fish and chips and a Diet Coke it was $17 plus tip. So I think it's a little pricey. I wouldn't be able to afford this on a regular basis, but it was a nice place for a girls lunch. read more

OK so we don't live far from Saint Augustine so we visit quite frequently. I myself have not really had any great food off a food truck. They have a great little spot tucked away beside a trendy coffee shop. We were told we could eat inside. We went in and the temperature was a bit warm inside and seating was not the most comfy so back outside we went to the picnic tables. When it is almost 7pm the temperature was great and the bugs have not yet started biting . So after seeing some of the reviews about the fish and grits being spicy I asked and was told that the fish is cooked blackened so it's not really spicy. Well pepper can be spicy to some folks. And normally don't like blackened but we got it. We also got the fried chicken with onion rings and we got fries. OK to start with the fish and grits my first few bites were good. But, that was only because of the three shrimp i got to eat with the grits. Blackened fish is just not my thing, I passed it my husband. He thought is was just good ... The onion rings and chicken did not wow us...crispy but lacked flavor on both. I think we got the fries for free and they looked like the recooked leftovers....the decent ones we had were tasty. We arrived at 7pm and were surprised they were closing up since their Google hours said they closed at 8 and their online ordering allowed ordering until 8pm. I walked up to the window and he said they were closing, but when I told him I already ordered he grabbed my food without a word. I open my meal and old and over fried fries are in the box. We paid $4 extra EACH for garlic rosemary fries. I went back and said they gave me normal fries and the cashier said, no those are garlic rosemary you just have to look really deep in there. Then, someone from the back said "Dude, we are out of garlic rosemary fries." This guy continues to tell me these dry and bare fries are garlic rosemary but then I said, "Didn't that guy just say you are out?" And he said, "Well the fries all come from the same fryer so it's basically the same." Yes...except they have neither rosemary or garlic. I told him I would. It have paid extra if I knew I wasn't getting what I paid for and he just said there was nothing he could do. There haven't been any specials to try and once I ordered the classic fish and chips, only to bite into fried salmon. Give me most oily or even flaky white fish and you will hear no complaints--but salmon does not belong in a fish and chips. One of my favorite reasons to stop at Scratch was for their fresh and flavorful fries. The last two visits, however, I received barely any whole fries (only crispy bits and pieces). Even worse, I struggled to find the whole garlic cloves and twig of fresh thyme that made these fries irresistable. This place exceded my expectations! We Came here after a morning at the beach. I loved that, despite being a food truck, they offered indoor seating at the wine and coffee bar, DOS, next door. Having just come off the beach, we sat on shaded picnic tables and were perfectly comfortable. The food takes a little bit longer (20-25min), but is worth the wait! We were able to sit and wait in the coffee shop on the property with the food truck and our delicious food was delivered to us there. We decided to try this place after a quick Yelp review. I am glad we did. The set up was so cute, and I liked that it was beside a coffee, wine, beer shop. We ordered a Shrimp Po Boy and Cheesesteak Sandwich. One came with Rosemary Fries and one with Onion Rings. The shrimp were plentiful and delicious, and the onion rings were delicious and the coating was just right with the rosemary flavorings. I did not try the Cheesesteak, because I was to full, but my daughter and husband enjoyed it.
