First let me say, we haven't had a bad meal since coming to Saint Augustine but I do want to say, I might have just had the best shrimp of my life. Our waitress was Jenny and she was absolutely wonderful. I got the fried shrimp and soft shell crab combo and Jenny informed me they had collards and claimed they were some of the best she'd ever tasted. I was skeptical at first. Not gonna lie. And you know who else didn't lie? Jenny. Those were undoubtedly the best restaurant collards I've ever had. Period. Jenny and I bonded over those greens. My husband had the soft shell crab and fried oyster combo and he was also very happy with his choices. Coleslaw was great. Fries were great. This is a great little local spot that is mostly filled with townies. It's not on the water, but rather in a strip mall. There aren't tropical cocktails, but you can get everyday beer and wine. But there are two reasons to come to Seafood Kitchen: - Conch Fritters - Fried Shrimp Yes, you can get conch fritters and fried shrimp virtually anywhere in this town, but the conch fritters here are especially good. Well fried with a crisp exterior, well drained and virtually greaseless, super tender and moist, and filled with large chunks of vegetables and conch. While it may not be on the table when you walk in, Seafood Kitchen will supply you with a squeeze bottle of the datil pepper sauce, which folks in this area know as the sweet hot sauce of St. Augustine. Dab datil on your conch fritters today, and thank me tomorrow. The fried shrimp come in at a close second. Again, beautifully fried and also tender on the inside, with the distinct pop and snap of truly fresh well prepared shrimp. These sing when paired either with the datil or the house cocktail sauce. If I wanted to mix things up a bit, I might get a lunch sized portion of the blackened mahi. It's good if a pricier option. I personally enjoyed the collard greens, but they needed some datil to perk 'em up a bit. And while I was glad cold peel and eat were available (make sure to specifiy if you want them hot or cold) these are easy to make at home, and our homemade version eclipses what we received from the kitchen on a busy Tuesday night. For those that are concerned, these have not been "deveined", so it might not be the best choice for the squeamish. House salads date back to a bygone era. My dining companions enjoy the trip down memory lane, but ultimately they are not for me. The hush puppies weren't particularly remarkable, but still nice to have on the plate. That said, I have a particularly high bar for hush puppies. Our server Kristie was amazing! It was a busy night, but she made sure we had everything we needed, and could not have been nicer. Mostly we needed lemons. Lots and lots of lemons. If you have ever been to St. Augustine and had a glass of water, you know what I'm talking about. - TL;DR: Great casual spot, where maybe not everything is top notch, but there are a few standouts that compete with the best in the market. Our family always makes a point to visit Seafood Kitchen whenever we're in St. Augustine -- it's a tradition at this point! On our most recent trip, we actually ate there three times, and each meal was just as delicious as the last. The fried seafood is made to order every time -- nothing sits under a heat lamp. The sides are freshly prepared daily, and you can tell the seafood is sourced locally. They really go the extra mile to find the best seafood. This visit, the service stood out even more. I accidentally placed an order for 5 plates instead of 6 -- totally my mistake. When I went back to correct it, they had the extra plate ready within five minutes. They turned my slip-up into a non-issue, and I really appreciated how fast and kind they were about it. Owner is a hard working guy and his seafood is as fresh as you will find anywhere but at more realistic prices. If you want to pay 30% more for your meal because it's got a view of the river, well, that's your choice. For us, it's all about the food. The service here is exceptional. Welcoming and friendly staff who work hard to keep you happy. I can assure you, any reviews claiming frozen seafood are nothing short of slander. The seafood here is fresh. I get the scallops and clams combo as a habit and wow, you can taste the freshness in every bite. We've never had to wait but often timing is everything. Many times we arrive and are seated immediately only to have two or three large parties arrive minutes later. It can get busy but if you arrive at the right time (before 6:30) you're usually being seated within minutes. We love the Seafood Kitchen. The menu is quite extensive. They have an early bird dish before 6 PM that is typically six shrimp and a catch of the day prepared fried, broiled, or blackened for less than $20. A typical meal here includes two proteins two sides and hush puppies. I've had food prepared blackened and fried and both tasted amazing. I would call this a low-key, local, hidden gem. The fried shrimp is fantastic. They have the usual suspects for sauce, but if you ask nicely the server will bring you their super special datil pepper sauce. went to eat on 3/8/26 around 1:30 pm went into dining room sat at a booth waited for 10 min before i got up to get a couple menus .... they were not busy at all ( 5 tables) had at least 5 people working the front .... when i got the menus a lady asked if i needed help i said i wanted the menus and to place an order for lunch ... she just looked at me i went back sat down picked what we wanted for lunch and no one came to take our order ... we left went elsewhere...my sister and i were upset and have never had that happen to us b4 ... i am a local st aug resident....what is with these folks.....wonder if the owner knows this is happening.... intend on calling them to speak with the owner .....always walk in Faith will be kind just give the owner a heads up.... very sad about this happening read more

This is our first visit to this restaurant after driving by for several years. We are so glad that we stopped in and now wish that he done so years ago. The restaurant is an excellent representation of what a local seafood kitchen should be. It has a menu that reflects what is found in local waters and is cooked on point as ordered. The side items offered are limited but reflect local table fare and were fresh and delicious. The early bird is available until 6 pm and the photo is of the early bird special. The shrimp were perfectly fried and tender. The blackened mahi was seasoned well and not too spicy. The broccoli salad was delicious! Baked potato was cooked just right. My wife's Cole slaw was well flavored and not too creamy. We did not order the fries or onion rings but they looked very tempting. The price for dinner was very affordable. Service was good. The only negative is that the decor of the seating furniture is dated and floors were not cleaned well. The men's bathroom was filthy. I appreciated the taxidermy of local fish on the walls. Ambiance....We decided to have a late dinner after 2 hours of bowling just down the street at Anastasia Lanes. When I arrived with my family the parking lot was extremely crowded. It was very cool which was nice since it was still hot outside. Service....Our servers name is Jessica. Very friendly but not very honest. I asked Jessica if the sweet tea is really sweet. We're in the south she said. Yes, it's sweet. We received several teas in our party. It was not sweet nor did it taste good. It was sour. I brought it up to Jessica so she could fix or replace them. The others chose another option but I just chose water. Mind you, they're 5 extra glasses now sitting in the table that she never picked up even though she brought additional glasses. Can you say crowded. Food....Now my family rated their food 8 out of 10. I went for the gator tails. My daughter and her boyfriend also orders a side of gator, steamed oysters, butterfly shrimp & French fries. My baby girl and my grandsons order the kids hot dog with fries, grilled chicken sandwich and gator. My oldest grandson orders mild hot wings, gator and fries. What I found odd I'd that the food didn't come out together. So some adults were eating and the kids weren't. I had to ask Jessica to see if the kids order was ready. It was only a hot dog and fries. Kids are impatient when they're hungry. The rest of the food comes out. I feel better because the kids are finally eating. The food was seasoned well according to my children.
