I love fried food, but have had too much over the years, seafood kitchen is accommodating to my requests regularly. The price is right at the Seafood Kitchen! We randomly found this spot when trying to find a lunch spot that served seafood by the beach. While there isn't a fancy beachside view... the price and quality of the food was worth it. We arrived in the late afternoon around 1:30pm, starving. Our server moved a little slow but got our food order in. The menu has plenty of seafood options for every eater to choose from. I ordered the scallops entree (lunch portion) for only $9.95 and it still came with a hearty portion of scallops. I also got mac and cheese and a side of jambalaya. The scallops were tender and perfectly seasoned. My sides were just ok, although I did enjoy the mac and cheese. I hate leaving bad reviews and it takes a lot for me to do so but this place struck out on all levels. The service was horrendous. We saw parties who came in after us get seated before us and waited forever for a table. We ended up snatching seats at the bar in order to be able to eat. This place is crazy unorganized. I watched employees run around without doing anything productive and did not bother to check on us at all. We didn't get silverware, a sides menu, refilled drinks, sauces, or anything that was supposed to come with the meal. I also watched them leave the top off of the New England clam chowder for over 30 minutes without putting it back on. This will not only cause the soup to be cold but also is unsanitary as the cover prevents at least some things from getting into it. The woman behind the bar was very sweet but completely clueless. She had no knowledge about menu items, drink offerings, or where anything was behind the bar. The food was okay. We had the calamari, steamed oysters, fried shrimp dinner with fries and a cup of chowder. The shrimp were alright. The fries weren't seasoned and the oysters didn't come with any of the normal fixings- cocktail sauce, crackers, or anything. We had to wait for the marinara sauce to be heated up to accompany the calamari and tasted store bought. The manager, or maybe owner, came out to see if we were doing okay. His clothing appeared dirty and looked absolutely disgusting with stains all over them. I also witnessed a cook come out from the back, crack a beer and then go back to the kitchen. From service to the food, it was 5 stars!! Our server was so sweet and made a great suggestion with our appetizer. The conch fritters were a hit! A plateful and very flavorful! For our meals, we each chose the Combo platter. Holy cow was it a lot of food!!!! Oysters, shrimp, scallops, fish and deviled crab (plus two sides!) all perfectly battered and cooked! This is a local seafood restaurant that has awesome food. Conch fritters were the best we have ever had throughout our travels. Fresh made coconut shrimp with fresh dipping sauce. Fresh fish. Wow! Best seafood lunch we have had for a very long time if not ever. I had black drum with shrimp special. I chose to have the of fish filet blackened and the 6 shrimp fried. Incredibly delicious and large portion of fish and shrimp were jumbo. My chosen sides were the broccoli salad which was served quite properly before the entree with green bean casserole. Both excellent as were the three hush puppies. $15.95 WHAT! Worth way more but don't tell the management. My wife chose fried soft shell crab which was also of good size compared to what we have been served lately. Perfectly cooked with a side of large cut fries all excellent as well. $10.95 Great value here as well. Awesome value on a faultless meal!! Our extended family had a delicious seafood dinner at Seafood Kitchen! It's nothing fancy, but the fried shrimp, oysters, scallops, and fish were fresh and cooked to perfection. Our server, Brooklyn, handled our boisterous and hungry group like a champ! The only two things that kept me from leaving 5 stars: they were out of deviled crab, so several of our group had to change their orders. Also, the smoked fish dip appetizer is a very small bowl and is served cold. That said, it was quite tasty! But, I was expecting something different. Don't go for the ambiance but go if you want a ton of food at a good price. As much as I love seafood, I'm not all that good at telling when something is fresh compared to it previously being frozen. We ordered the seafood platter for two and it was just an unbelievable amount of food. You can tell them what you want fried, blackened or broiled. Be careful if you choose to eat outside. We have been coming here for years and it is always so good. Unfortunately last night was a horrible experience. This restaurant isn't exactly known for its cleanliness but this visit was especially disturbing. Our table was so shaky we couldn't even put our arms on the table. The floor and menus were sticky. We ordered raw oysters for appetizer and they were absolutely delicious. My husband ordered the fried combo and the scallops were so rotten they actually fizzed in his mouth and tasted like pure ammonia. It made him so sick he couldn't eat any of his meal. My food was good but our experience was ruined. Our server was wonderful but no sign of management anywhere. It'll be a very long time before we're able to return here. We stopped here for a late lunch because it happened to be close to our condo. What a pleasant surprise ! Stayed a week at the Ocean Grove RV resort next door. Place came recommended by other campers and locals. Restaurant is unassuming and not commercial at all. Thoroughly disappointed with this meal. Having gone to St Augustine for years, I've always wanted to check this place out. I would not recommend it to anyone. The peel and eat shrimp was barely edible. It was completely flavorless, which was surprising considering the shells were doused in Old Bay. Even attempting to use cocktail sauce and warm butter didn't help. Definitely wouldn't recommend. Ranch dressing for salad was essentially mayonnaise. Gross! Attempted a wine vinaigrette in place of the mayo and the top came off into the salad. When we advised the staff, we were told, "yea, that happens all the time". So now I don't know how many peoples fingers have touched that thing that's now been in my salad. The hush puppies were good. And soft shell crab sandwich was average, a little overdone. What? I haven't reviewed this place yet? I loved this place! I came here with my sister, brother-in-law and my mom while visiting the beach area. We were feeling like seafood so we went here on the recommendation of my sister and had a perfectly delicious lunch. They offered a few specials with all of the trimmings (i.e. shrimp and oysters plus two sides and hush puppies for $10.99). I had the shrimp and it was perfectly cooked along with my steak fries (I had a side salad to start). Ask for all of their sauces. I recommend the New England clam chowder which had crab in it. It was very tasty and I could certainly finish a whole bowl by myself. Plenty of menu choices and I loved the hush puppies! Overall, our one waitress did a pretty good job running the place as the restaurant had quite a few customers while we were there. You can tell they were regulars that patronize this establishment which has been around for some time: 20 years....It's a good sign. If you want affordable seafood done right with large portions, skip the Quarter, head to the beach and come here. It's where the locals eat, but they probably wanted to keep that a secret. read more

If you want a bang for your buck you will not believe the piles of food you get for your money. We ordered the seafood platter for two and it came with four sides. HUGE. Very inexpensive. My husband loved it. Ordered it blackened as I won't eat fried food and it came loaded with FRIED hush puppies (6) of them - boxed FRIED frozen clams- FRIED oysters possibly frozen- lots of shrimp very oily and scallops- BIG piece of TILAPIA- the broccoli slaw was old as well as the cole slaw . I did not like that it wasn't good unfrozen local seafood but that would have been double the price. Next time I would order something different that was not so greasy and fried. The boxed fried clams were really tacky on this platter. Service very good. read more
