I can tell you that's I've never been so disappointed in a restaurant for the price. We're staying at the Hilton St. Augustine Historic Bayfront. The restaurant Avilés is inside. Bread and butter was good. I thought the crab cakes were delicious. Del Monaco steak was cold. It wasn't even lukewarm. The potatoes looked old. My wife knows how to tell. The scallops were delicious but the cauliflower was cold. I'm not sure it that's the way it's supposed to be. The lobster bisque was lukewarm not hot. I think it would've been better. Service was super slow. It took a while to get our table ready even though the waitress was told twice that we were ready. Waters were delivered after asking for them again. Waitress blames the young lady. So my advise is eat somewhere else. Our first table was in the lobby area. Listen to people taking, and checking in. Ask for the back tables if you eat here. read more

I often go to Aviles restaurant on the holidays for its fantastic buffet. Thanksgiving was no exception. There was delicious turkey and stuffing with all of its side dishes. And then there was prime rib and smoked ham that were to die for. the prime rib melted in my mouth! It's set right in the center of the Christmas lights decorating the city, and the ambience is really nice. There's also a great new bar and bartenders, and the drinks are great! Another perk of Aviles is that there is free valet parking which is part of the restaurant so you don't have to wait for your car. It's beautiful at Christmas time! read more

Never will eat here again. The Mgr that checked us in gave a food credit to make up for them trying to give us Chicken confit and sell it as duck confit. I was hesitant since the time we ate here before, the fish we ordered was covered in scales. Since we frequent the Hilton we wanted to give them another try. Ordered our food and the lady that served us the chicken confit in July started to argue that it was duck after the other waitress confirmed it was chicken and the Mgr advised the person who mixed up the duck and chicken leg was let go. but this lady was adamant on arguing so I kindly asked to cancel the order as it was very uncomfortable arguing with the lady and sitting there waiting for food. They still charged the food to my room even though we left and never recieved the food. We were staying at the hotel and decided to have breakfast here. Our server was very friendly. My husband and I ordered coffee and I love when they leave a pot so I can continue drinking when I want and not track down the server. The menu is nice and I settled on the breakfast sandwich. I asked for a croissant with an egg cooked well, Swiss cheese and bacon. Food arrived quickly and looked very nice. My sandwich looked nice, but had no bacon. I didn't say anything because we were with friends and I didn't want to make a fuss. The sandwich was OK, nothing special. The side of fruit was nice. Our server gave each of us a bottle of water and "to go" cups in case we wanted to take coffee. That was a nice touch. read more

In the Hilton, it may not look like much, but the chef knocks out a wide variety of seafood, steaks and more at concert level. Been to St Augustine many times but have never noticed this quaint restaurant in the Hilton on the main drag. I had a coupon from Local Flavors so I trekked down one Saturday evening to St Aug. This was in late February before the restaurants were on lockdown. It's a small area in the hotel lobby. Good thing I had reservations. It was a cold night and their large fireplace in the lobby can surely warm you up. We ordered the Braised Beef Parpadelle, Seafood Cioppino, Lobster Mac & Cheese. For dessert we had the Tiramisu, yummy. All our dishes were super delicious. Check out the photos. Nice ambience & cozy. Service was excellent too. I arrived after the Happy Hour. We decided to stroll around town in search of a great dinner spot in walking distance from our hotel. We came across the Hilton and the dinner menu looked delicious so we decided to give it a go. I was expecting a nice lobby, but when we arrived the interior of the restaurant was not very appealing plus the lighting was too bright. We ordered the Wine and mussels as our app. The mussels were pretty yummy with a nice zesty flavor. For the main entry I ordered the whole snapper and my bf chose the bone in pork chop. First of all, the main course took over 30 min to get to our table. I had asked for the sauce on the side with my snapper since I like crispy skin and of course it came to the table soggy with tons of sauce covering it. The flavor was nothing special either and it was overly salty. I ate it because there was no way I was going to wait another 30 min for something else. My bf's pork chop looked good from afar, but when he cut into it it was extremely overcooked and tough. He did say the flavor was decent though. The one thing I will say is that our sever was very friendly. I would not recommend having dinner here unless you stick to something simple like apps and salad. read more

After having a few lets downs in St Augustine concerning food and service, Aviles Restaurant here in the Hilton Historic Bayfront made everything miles better. The food was absolutely delicious and unique. To start off, My partner ordered a "Blue Energy" Cocktail which consisted of Vodka, Crushed Blueberries and Housemade Lemonade. And let me just say that after tasting this cocktail, the homemade lemonade makes miles of a difference. We were also served bread and butter, but this isnt just ANY bread and butter, the butter is housemade and garnished with pink peppercorn for a unique taste and experience. I was awe struck with the simple yet delicious taste of the butter! For appetizers, we had the Knife & Fork Latin Bruschetta, which consisted of Grilled Arepa, Mojo Beef Rips, Grilled Tostone, Chimichurri, Avocado and Cotilja Cheese. The Beef Tips were extremely tender and juicy, they were obviously professionally made. The avocado was fresh and ripe and by the time we finished, we wished we could order more. Moving onward to the entrées, I decided to be boujee for the night and ordered the 40oz Prime Tomahawk Chop for $128. While the price may be a little steep, if you're able to order this dish, I would highly recommend it. The pictures attached speak for themselves, the tomahawk was cooked to perfection with my preference of medium-rare. Its was so incredibly tender and juicy that I could see the juices flow out when I cut it. The tomahawk featured a honey-chiptole glaze that complimented the meat further. On the sides, I ordered potato fingers and asparagus which both were also cooked perfectly. The potatos were very warm and tender, and seasoned excellently. My partner ordered the 16oz Prime NY Strip Steak which she described as being one of the best she has had. This means alot coming from her because she doesnt typically order steaks or meats from restaurants. From what I could tell, the meat was cooked to her preference and the sides were seasoned well to compliment each other. Now were are up to deserts. I ordered a Creme Brûlée and my partner ordered a Key Lime Pie with White Chocolate. Both were extremely delicious and complimented what we ate very well. Now onto the best part of this experience: The service. From the moment we walked in, we were treated with such a high level of decency and respect. The host seated us at a high top table and our server, I have the pleasure to say, was one of the best I have ever had. Sheraz came here all the way from France and her skills and attention to detail are unparalleled. She waited on us and made sure we had everything we could ever need. We talked about ourselves, and all of our ambitions and dreams. It was a very refreshing experience to have a server we could talk to and feel so connected with. We had reservations for Thanksgiving and were disappointed. We were the first seating and they were not ready to seat people so everyone was standing around. I knew the restaurant was in a hotel but I didn't realize the buffet would take place in the lobby where people were walking around. The tables were close together so you had to take turns going between them and random hotel guests were also walking though. It did not feel very hygienic to me. It was just not a comfortable or classy setup. The food was basic. Nothing special except the crab legs which they ran out of several times during the 2 hour service. Desserts were mostly pie shells that seemed to be pre-baked and then various fillings were added. Our bill came to $452 for 4 people, with the predetermined gratuity already added. It was definitely not worth that. On a positive note, the staff was friendly and were clearly doing the best they could. We received service with a smile even though things seemed a little hectic. Because we were staying here at the Hilton, we took advantage of the restaurant for breakfast every morning. The staff is great, attentive to our needs, but not hovering over the table. The breakfast menu has many options, and I think we tried almost all of them. The portions are generous and will leave you satisfied until lunch. I really like that they bring a carafe of coffee to the table so you don't need to wait for them to bring a refill to you. We also were given a bottle of water each when we left. read more

Aviles restaurant was very cute and quaint. A friend of mine told me about a Groupon and that she liked the place. I was staying in town for the night and made reservations the week before to be sure we could get in and purchased the Groupon. We ordered three appetizers, scallops, pork belly and duck. All three were delicious but my favorite was the scallops and duck. They served homemade bread and butter as well which helped my hunger pains until the food arrived. I ordered a mule made with a local gin from the Saint Augustine Distillery. The drink was very refreshing and smooth. The service was top notch. Our server was friendly and helped me with the menu. This place is located just inside the lobby of the Hilton Bayfront. We were staying there for a long weekend getaway. We are Diamond members and so we had a $30 credit each day to use for breakfast, and we took advantage of it each day of our trip! First and foremost, the coffee is amazing!! I may have over-caffeinated myself every morning because I couldn't stop drinking it. I appreciated that the carafe was left on the table so you could help yourself to refills whenever you needed. The menu has a good selection of breakfast favorites as well as an a la carte menu. I usually kept things simple and ordered a couple of eggs with some kind of bread item (bagel, English muffin, toast, etc) each morning. Everything was great, but my main gripe is that each time I ordered "over medium" eggs they came out with a completely runny yolk. My husband ordered similar breakfasts of eggs with a bread item, and one morning he tried the waffles and loved them - they were presented beautifully on the plate. Stayed at hotel and hostess Sequoia saw us waiting to be seated but then directed us to wait at other entrance where she then proceeded to seat someone else not staying at the hotel at last available table after we had waited some time already. Now being told it's another 15-20 min wait. They don't take into consideration if you are staying at hotel. It had a fabulous menu, fabulous ambiance, fabulous service and appropriate prices. In the past, we have taken numerous other people to this restaurant because we were so impressed. Not anymore! Somewhere along the line, in the past year or so, the menu changed drastically and they have priced themselves out of the market! A $69 rib-eye, really? The menu is very limited ( you can only blame so much on COVID-19) and mediocre, at best! SO disappointed!! The service is still fabulous, maybe because no one is there. We had the half lobster cobb salad and 45 day aged bone in ribeye with baked potato and asparagus. The bread was baked fresh and served with a cup of salted butter. My husband finished off two loaves lol. The dishes were amazing, seasoned well and the ingredients tasted fresh and crisp. The service was excellent as well. We went on Christmas Day for the $85/person Christmas Buffett. I was very very underwhelmed. The buffet was in the lobby and everyone was walking within inches of the food, even people that had not purchased the buffet. The buffet line went right by our table and people bumped into us while we were eating and we had a hard time getting back to our table. There was a dog of a person checking into the hotel right by the buffet. Nothing on the buffet was labeled. Very few vegetables. The crab legs were cold and no melted butter. There was no direction or organization to the line. The tea was very watered down and the sweet tea tasted just like the unsweet. Overall, the food was not that great. We had a party of 9 so we were there for a little over an hr waiting for everyone to finish and I had to go to the bathroom twice while waiting for my party to finish eating. I was not the only one b/c there was a very long line for the bathroom when we left. After our disappointing meal, we got our check where a 25% gratuity was added for a server who just brought us watered down teas. Our entire party of 9 will never be back. My advice if you do go is to not make plans after dinner that doesn't involve being close to a bathroom. A Christmas buffet for 2 was $223. Golden corals has a better buffet. read more

Staying here with my family and had to comment on this cozy, human atmosphere- and their incredible food. Whoever is in the kitchen is brilliant. However, once the crispy bread and olive oil arrived, we were distracted...and once our entrees arrived, we wised there was a buffet. Needless to say, our hesitance completely faded. I ordered shrimp with broccoli and aspargus in a sherry cream sauce and savored every single bite. I have never had broccoli or asparagus prepared this well. They were perfectly steamed allowing them to retain their delicate and full flavor. The sherry cream sauce was rich, sweet but not overpowering. Our dinner was topped off with the most delicious Bread Pudding and Vanilla ice cream. The plate was delicately swirled with berry sauce, blueberries and strawberries and the vanilla ice cream complimented the warm and gooey bread pudding. Wow. This restaurant blew our minds recently when we went for my birthday dinner. Initially my thought was that the location of the restaurant was a bit odd. When my Chilean sea bass showed up I could see nothing else!! It was truly delectable with a savory white wine, garlic and lemon sauce and on top of a mound of delicious mashed potatoes. The green beans were cooked perfectly with a sweet tangy flavor, and the dish came with a delicious chunk of roasted artichoke. My other half had the sirloin and it was to die for! It was $50 per person plus a 20% service charge, minus a discount for any seniors, with one alcoholic drink per person. I've never liked the idea of a restaurant in the lobby, and it was crowded on Christmas day. One of the neighboring tables was very friendly, but I'd still prefer not to be sharing my conversations. It was a bit too loud as well. I didn't like the music. No music would be ideal, or Christmas music would have been fine. Their music choice seemed nonsensical for Christmas so I pointed this out to our waitress. She came back soon and told me that it would be changed, but it didn't seem to change. Some of the food was weak: the smoked salmon (strongly flavored: was it some other type of cured salmon?), thin turkey gravy, and bad cranberry sauce. I liked a few of the dishes, like a chorizo/manchego fondue and blueberry pie. So a mixed bag on the food.
