Last night in Saint Augustine, my wife and I decided to go to the collage, which was one of our favorite restaurants in previous trips. We ordered the red fish, which was the special chef special which came with couscous and broccoli and some kind of a sauce on the red fish that was phenomenal. They start off here with warm bread and garlic cloves that are heated to put on the bread, which is phenomenal, and then we went on to share a salad, which was a good salad with their house dressing. Finish the meal with a cup of coffee. The waitress name was Victoria and she was terrific and the place is very warm and friendly. read more

The atmosphere is very intimate and warm. All of the staff that we interacted with were great, I wish I could recall our servers name as she was also wonderful! We started with the soup special of the day as well as the scallops - both were phenomenal! I do wish that the scallops were a slightly larger portion - 2 each would have been nice instead of 2 total. For our entrees, I ordered the grouper and my partner ordered the homemade lobster ravioli. Safe to say neither of us left a bite. read more

We chose Collage to celebrate a birthday recently based on the menu and reviews and we were not disappointed. The cozy space is well appointed and feels welcoming even though the tables are very closely set. Every item we tried was well prepared and of good portion size for the cost. They have a nice wine list and our server gave good input based on our likes. Desserts were very good but their signature dessert the Bougainvillea is exceptional! read more

What a Yelp GEM find. The restaurant is small with limited seating, as you walk in with a larger room off to the right. Service was impeccable by Victoria. Friendly and attentive plus excellent. Food -- unfortunately we ate a late lunch, so no starters, but the steak filet mignon was amazing. Cooked to perfection. Their lamb chops as stated in other reviews were excellent. Cooked as ordered and the mint relish was an amazing flavor add. Bread oh my, Roasted garlic and oil yummy. Nice place to celebrate a birthday and there were quite a few Sunday and our anniversary. Rum sponge cake is served complimentary. Oh let's not forget the sign on the door about children, that says it all. Note to management love the sign. Holiday visit for two sisters post the Saint Augustine bed-and-breakfast tour and to enjoy the nights of lights! The service and responsiveness from hostess and wait staff were outstanding. This is a small establishment so we were thrilled to have a fabulous table in the corner. We both enjoyed our food and wine. I have deducted one star for something I believe is just silly for a restaurant of this type to demand. We asked for a second basket of bread and our server said that there would be an additional charge. Seriously - given the expense of this restaurant please just put that fee into somewhere else. Upscale and elegant dinner. The bread was a tip-off as to how good this dinner would be. Split special Panzanella salad to start, onto escargot on puff pastry with mushrooms. The mushrooms texture complimented the escargot perfectly, and wonderfully contrasted with the puff pastry which didn't get soggy despite an ample amount of brandy cream sauce. The wife's tenderloin with gorgonzola was perfect as per her report. I only have one nit-pick on my filet au poivre, and that's to go rare+ the way they cooked it. It was a nudge past where I like a filet, and by nudge I'm only talking a degree or two. It was still more than acceptable. Too full, the wife got dessert to go. We hung around long enough for a Penfold's Grandfather Rare Tawny Solera Blended from Australia, though, which was exquisite. Friendly, attentive, and all around great service thanks to Kate. Worthy of a special occasion place. Another restaurant I'd go 4.5 on, but can't. The wife says 5 stars. I need a 4.80. read more

I had a good meal with family here but felt that the prices -- and hype -- were a bit too high. Our party of four was seated on time and in a corner, which was nice. The restaurant, as others have noted, is a bit cramped, but I found it manageable. The overall vibe of this restaurant, to me, was "1990s fine dining" -- I mean that as an observation more than a criticism. Maybe it's because the '90s were the last time I was served a raspberry sorbet palate cleanser? But some of the plating as well as the restaurant interior decor really reminded me of dining out for a special meal when I was a kid. There wasn't an appetizer that met the interests of all four of us at the table, so we went with soups and salads. The house salads were fresh, and the soup (a vegetarian soup du jour) was fine. It had a good taste but not in a way that made it stick out compared to other soups at restaurants (or even at home). We also ate a ton of bread. The bread was fantastic, the roasted garlic was yummy, and even the olive oil was delicious -- the quality was clear. For entrees, one of my fellow diners got the steak and thought it was good but not great. That's honestly how I felt about my shrimp and scallops, too. The seafood was definitely fresh, and I did like the dish. I just don't know if I'd pay $52 for this particular dish again. One of the folks at my table is entirely vegetarian, and they brought a special menu for her with two entree options (kind of odd not to see them just listed on the regular menu). Her spinach ravioli was -- once again -- good but not great. The other person in our party got the gambas al ajillo as their entree, and it, to me, was the standout. In my bite, I found the sauce to be quite flavorful. For desserts, we got the bougainvillea and some coconut ice cream. The ice cream was quite good -- very creamy with the coconut flavor coming through nicely. The bougainvillea -- which again, transported me back to the '90s, especially in its presentation -- wasn't quite like anything I've ever tasted. But I thought it was delicious and found myself scraping the plate for more of the buttery strawberry sauce. I'm a big black pepper fan and enjoyed that component of the dish, too. So, overall, I think this is a good restaurant for some folks' special occasions. But I'd suggest looking at the menu in advance to prepare yourself for the price (and I say that as someone who just got back from dining out in NYC!). I don't want to say "overpriced" because I recognize that a focus on fresh, quality ingredients combined with being in a tourist hotspot will affect the bill. But it just felt a bit out of line with pricing for similar experiences. read more

Came here for my birthday and the food was fantastic! The space is smaller than I expected, basically two rooms. When we got there we were place in the larger room but there was a really loud group in the corner. I asked if we could be moved and they made it happen. The decorations are eclectic, like the restaurant itself. Loved the food- husband got the steak and he said it was the top 10 best steaks ever. I got the scallops- they were fantastic. Loved the bread with the garlic. Birthday rum cake was also a 10/10! We will definitely come back. read more

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here and it was best bite we had all weekend. Food and service were outstanding! This is a small upscale elegant restaurant. We started with the scallops and they were cooked to perfection! The black grouper was fresh and I loved the brown sugar and pecan crust. This was probably some of the best grouper I've eaten in a while. My husband's beef tenderloin was cooked exactly how he likes it. They don't have a full bar only serving wine and beer. I did find their wine list impressive with their prices. To celebrate our anniversary they treated us to their homemade butter rum cake. Yum! I do recommend making a reservation as a restaurant was very busy. We will be back next time in town. read more

What a delightful restaurant. Went back to the Collage for our anniversary and wasn't disappointed. My wife had the seasonal salad with roasted delicata squash with crumbled goat cheese, dried cranberries, crispy prosciutto, pepitas, over romaine lettuce and arugula that was tossed in a red wine rosemary vinaigrette that she couldn't stop raving about. I had the coconut milk tomato bisque with basil and chives that was a light but perfect start to our meal. The freshly baked bread with oil and garlic was a great accompaniement to both our starters. For entrees, my wife had their famous black grouper crusted in parmesan, brown sugar and pecans perfectly cooked with jamine rice, green beans and a creamy, buttery sauce that, as in the past was absolutely delicious. I had the pan seared flounder special that was served over couscous (some of the best I've ever had), spinach and what should be an award winning sun-dried tomato datil (I think because it had a nice little kick) sauce. As with my wife's grouper, it was perfecty cooked. Being chocoholics, we had the "Coffee, Cake and Doughnuts which was composed of an espresso soaked mini chocolate cake that was topped with a cappuccino Mousse, a delicious, soft and creamy vanilla ice cream and two large donut holes on either side of the large 'boat' that it came in. As usual, the service was outstanding and our server "Lili" was warm, professional and made sure our meal was a memorable experience. For years, the Collage has consistently provided truly memorable meals. The only thing that keeps this from being an overall 5 star rating is the small size of the restaurant, which, while providing a warm, inviting and intimate atmosphere, can get a bit noisy. Last night was mostly fine though the three ladies sitting next to us were having a 'good time'. All in all, the Collage is a wonderful restaurant that you should experience if you want an elevated, less touristy dining experience in St. Augustine. read more

My absolute favorite restaurant in St. Augustine. Such a treat! My favorite dish is the lobster ravioli. I get it every time. My boyfriends gets the beef medallions, which are also delicious. Ambience - 10/10. The restaurant is in a cute old house and really gives that historic downtown vibe. Our serve introduced us to the Bell Gloss Pinot noir and we are obsessed with it to this day. Service was amazing. This is definitely one of the nicer restaurants in the city, but you could still swing wearing a casual outfit with sneakers. Overall was a good meal. This is a weird review to write bcs there wasn't anything wrong, per se, but I guess it boils down to being overrated? So location is good right on Hypolita in St Aug, but parking is challenging and they do not offer valet. The restaurant felt really cramped based on how the had the tables set up. We also noted that our waitress was too... we couldn't quite figure out the word but we all knew it was too much of something. The food was good but the portions were meager for the money. The true star was the escargot itself. Not necessarily the dish but the actual escargot. Very tender and well prepared. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back. read more

This was a lovely place for dinner. We went early so it easy to find street parking. They served warm bread with basil infused olive oil and roasted garlic. For the appetizer, we tried the shrimp With spicy sauce which also came with warm bread. The sauce had great flavor; it was spicy with a hint of sweetness and perfect for dipping the bread. Before the main entree, they served a raspberry sorbet as a palate cleanser. My entree was the Catch of the day: wahu grilled medium rare with house made pasta, puttanesca sauce and bleu cheese stuffed fried olives. This is my first time trying wahu. I brought a girlfriend here for her 60th birthday during the Night Of Lights Celebration in St Augustine. The ambiance is lovely and because there are not a lot of tables the noise level is much quieter than the other restaurants in the area. Make a reservation well in advance to secure a table as you won't be able to get in otherwise. The food is excellent and worth the extra price. I will be back next year. read more

I love Saint Augustine in general but Christmas time it's magical and this place is where we go for a tradition to eat every time during Christmas during our vacation in Saint Augustine. They have five star class act staff everyone from the cook, the hostess all the servers Everybody the food is exceptional. The taste is mouthwatering. My pictures will do it and no justice. I always get the filet mignon and lobster tail with the Holiday sauce on top of it and they're brown burgundy sauce underneath broccoli their tuna tartare is amazing everything there is amazing never ever had a bad meal there. they now even give you a sorbet between your meals to clean your pallet to give you a better taste of your next meal coming up so you can get a full taste of it which I love you. Never really see that and they do that there that's top notch. They stepped it all up since the last time I went there years ago every year it gets better. read more

Delightful and delectable experience! Collage is a small restaurant and advanced reservations are highly recommended if not required to secure a table! I visited during the holidays and made reservations in advanced and set alerts to find a better time which luckily, we were able to grab. I was a bit thrown off by the ambiance which was simple- two small rooms with close seating, no bar.. however, we were pleasantly surprised! The service was attentive and meals were timed perfectly. The wine selection was also decent. To start, the bread was flakey, crispy, warm, homemade and fresh-- served with a side of smashed garlic. For an appetizer, we ordered gambas al ajillo -- shrimp seemed a bit overcooked and I personally did not care for the flavor but I figured I'd try it out. For our entree, we both had 8oz beef tenderloin, one dish with truffle butter and one with signature steak sauce- I preferred the truffle butter over the steak sauce. The crisp char-grilled filet was cooked to perfection, as ordered, and was tender and tasteful. The whipped mashed potatoes and broccolini were a perfect addition with the dish, with the broccolini roasted just right. For dessert, we ended with crème brûlée- also not a disappointment. We left with leftovers and nearly had an entire meal the next day. I think we dreamt about this meal the rest of the trip and definitely plan to return should I visit St. Augustine again! read more

Wow! What a wonderful surprise to find this small gem in St Augustine. We were greeted by a kind host who immediately escorted us to our table after reviewing our reservation. We love a killer bottle of wine and were happy to see the wine list/book had a nice selection. We went with a beautiful French/ White Burgundy. The mark ups on the wine were high yet happy they had this type of wine. We started with escargot. My guy ordered the duck - fabulous! We are both duck lovers and it was cooked perfectly. I had the fish special, Branzino. Perfectly cooked. They did have a lot of great options so hard to choose. The service was outstanding, the small charm of the room had a romantic feel. We had 9pm reservations so we were the last seating and felt like we have the entire place to ourselves. read more

Collage was recommended to me by a friend who came here 2 years ago who loved it. Dinner tonight was delicious!!! I ordered the beef tenderloin, mashed potatoes and substituted the asparagus for broccolini. It was cooked just how I like it! It was more than enough food for me. I will say it is a little expensive for the amount of food you get but it really was tasty!!! My meal was $65. I would definitely go back and get the steak when in St. Augustine again. Our waitress was super sweet and attentive. Our food came out pretty quickly as well. I was actually surprised at how fast it came out. The bread was hot and fresh too! I do wish the oil had a little less basil in it though but that might just be me... For such an upscale restaurant I will say I expected it to be decorated more classier then what it was. 5 stars for the food and service though!!! Oh. And refills on soda are free!! If I could give zero stars I would. Noisy, non romantic restaurant, zero ambiance, horrible service. We were seated 1/2 hour and kept getting overlooked for another table that the waiter was friends with, we were ignored over and over as he walked by us ensuring his "friends" who were seated AFTER us were taken care of. We left, as we thought this is how our entire experience was going to play out. the restaurant is nothing special, there are tons of restaurants in St. Aug.
