To me the food was as you expected it to me. They are right in the middle of downtown historic St Augustine. Had a great lunch while visiting downtown St. Augustine. Prohibition is located in a trendy tourist shopping area. They had quite a line but we were able to secure a reservation and walk around to shop while we waited. They text us when our table was ready which is very convenient. The restaurant is themed from the prohibition area and we lived all the dark moody vibes. Had an amazing server who was knowledgeable about everything on the menu. Food is bar/tavern food and was really good. I loved they had a separate fryer for gluten and shellfish allergies so I could eat the French fries. We both had burgers and they were very tasty. We planned to go here after looking at lights. I called ahead to make a reservation, but they do not make reservations. I highly suggest that if you are gonna walk around to look at lights or around the city, that you stop by and check in first and get on the waitlist. It was a Tuesday night and they still had over an hour wait. There were some places to sit and wait and listen to music. The waitlist is via text so you can definitely walk around while you wait. There's live music from 6 to 9 PM. When we got seated, we were sitting at some tables downstairs between the bar and the booths. I would not recommend these chairs because they were very uncomfortable. It looks like the booths and the upstairs seats were better. The menus look like old newspapers. Our waitress was very attentive and my food was cooked exactly how I asked for it. I ordered the build a burger and it came out fantastic along with the sweet potato tots. They have Diet Coke and Coke products. There are definitely some other food items on the menu I'd still like to try next time. We were here on a Tuesday for a late lunch, still had to wait for 30 minutes for a table. So come early or make a reservation in advance. I had a super bowl salad with grilled chicken with honey and balsamic dressing, it was good. Big portion for one person, I had to take the rest of the salad. Snagged a table fri night after about a 30 minute wait (less than I was quoted). Our server Joseph knew every single detail of the menu and was happy to help us pick out our cocktails after a handful of questions lol. I liked the option of a make your own old fashioned, although they don't make smokey ones here which is really my fav. The ambiance and the live band (shout out the freight-liners) were a 10/10!! The restaurant was big and we did not wait at all to sit. The food was good, but nothing to write home about. The 'crispy' brussel sprouts weren't very crispy because of the ceasar dressing on them, but they were the tastiest bite we had. I had the short-rib grilled cheese, the first few bites were yummy, but it was overall nothing spectacular. The Mac n cheese was very peppery and baked so it had a cheesy crisp, but was not creamy at all. My partner got the main Prohibition burger. The egg and bacon made this burger above average. Again, nothing to go back for specifically. We had their special rum pumpkin milkshake that was sweet and yummy, as expected. Great presentation, but it took a while to come out. Two of us, seated on the second floor overlooking the bar, split some food before the festival. Cobb salad- large, we split. Super delicious flavors, tossed in tomato vinaigrette dressing. Three chicken tenders, bacon jam (yum), pickled eggs (yum), super fresh avocado. Really one of the best salads. Poutine- Good flavor, crispy fries. No meat on it, which I've never had before and the cheese curds were easy to miss and tiny. Still good, but definitely not what we were expecting. Live music is great! But seating upstairs towards the door is excruciating when you're trying to hold a conversation with friends while dining if the music is playing because it does get really loud. I begged to be moved, and they were able to sit us closer to the back, and I was grateful because the experience became SO much more pleasant. Must be said, food prices were totally worth it, beers were quite expensive, at $9 per glass. Flank steak salad Gorgeous salad, fresh and crunchy. And the flank steak was actually one of the best I've had! I'm usually always disappointed with these because it is not easy to cook flank steak well without it getting too tough. These were cooked perfectly medium, but still super tender and perfectly seasoned. The dressing was sweet. I was glad i had asked it on the side, so I could control the amount i would end up eating. It being too sweet for my taste, I ended up asking for a side of ranch. The salad was great with either. I wish I had asked for the ranch substitution when I ordered, cuz they ended up charming me extra for the ranch later. Fish sandwich Oh wow, this was a huge piece of fish! With a perfect crunch and delicious seasoning. I only had a piece of the fish that was sticking out, and it was delicious. Hany had the whole sandwich and said it was even better. Don't doubt it. Very nice! Burgers Friends got the burgers that looked amazing and both said they loved it. Side salad was in a smallish bowl, but fresh and satisfying. The soup was Colombian potato and vegetable soup which was delicious! The chicken pot pie was huge which threw me because it was from the appetizer menu. Dined at Prohibition Kitchen tonight. Gosh it was dark inside. But some people call that ambiance Difficult to read the menu. But ... I brought my bright little pocket flashlight , ta da. Everyone was there to enjoy the evening and the music. Live entertainment was provided by a female soloist who actually sang quite well. We were seated immediately upon entry but then there was a 10+ minute wait for the server to arrive and take our order(s). Dinner finally arrived. I had the Bacon BBQ cheeseburger and a cup of Chili. My companion had a grilled cheese with beef. The food was delicious but too much for me to finish. My companion had a box brought to the table to take home the leftovers. There are plenty of restaurants in this area of St. Augustine known as "Old Town". St. Augustine is the oldest colony established by Spain in the new world. Quite a bit of history in this part of Florida. The area has many restaurants, beaches, and hotels. It is a tourist destination. We had a great time. But the area is spread out. Bring your walking shoes. At the end of the day , we were exhausted. St. Augustine is a nice place to visit , at least once. Also , Castillo de San Marco is nearby , right on the water's edge. Excellent dining and drinking spot, right in the heart of St. Augustine - check this place out if you're there for a visit! This is right in the middle of the busiest spot in town, so expect it to be crowded, but we only waited a few minutes and managed to grab some spots at the bar. You can tell it's in a historic building, with very cool, elaborate decor. The food and drinks we tried were really good, and a highlight for me was building my own old fashioned with various options to choose from for whiskey/bourbon, syrup, and bitters.
