It's within walking distance of downtown, but just far enough off the main tourist streets that it doesn't feel overly crowded or noisy. I ordered the fish burger and it honestly surprised me in the best way it was way better than I expected. My partner went with the regular burger and loved it too. First: I paid extra to upgrade to a 1/2lbs from a 1/3lbs. When the burgers arrived, my patty was noticeably smaller than both my wife and daughter's burger. I asked the server about it and she just told me that it was a 1/2. In an effort to not make a big deal about it, my daughter jumped right in and offered to switch patties with me since she wasn't that hungry. It was immediately obvious that I had a smaller patty since the new one filled the croissant. Second: I asked to substitute the burger buns for the croissant buns they have on a different burger. I was surprised to see the bill showing a $2.50 up charge despite the burgers costing around the same amount and buns being needed anyway + no mention of any up-charge! Third: Our party included two adults + three children + a toddler + an infant. Somehow that warranted an automatic gratuity. We're normally generous tippers but it didn't feel right to have an amount pushed on us without disclosure. We would have tipped anyway despite the servers obvious fake smile and negative demeanor but this just added to the overall poor experience. My friend and I tried to eat at another local spot but the wait was too long and we would not have made our improv show. Last minute stop for a late dinner. Very friendly restaurant on the way into historic downtown. The place was packed which was a good sign. They let us in at 8:58pm. We ordered quickly. However, there's a convenient parking lot available, so if you're not up for the walk, driving is a great option. We did have a couple of critiques. First, the restaurant has only a single-occupancy bathroom. Given the volume of tourists in St. Augustine, a single-person restroom seems inadequate. A smaller, multi-stall restroom would be much more efficient. Second, the fried mozzarella was overly greasy. That said, my husband and daughter really enjoyed the fried pickles. A nice bonus is the on-site ice cream parlor. Whether you're cooling off after a walk to the nearby distillery or winery, or just craving a sweet treat, it's a great option--either to enjoy there or to take with you. Overall, we found the prices reasonable. Whether that was because we visited on a Sunday or if those prices are consistent throughout the week is unclear, so you may want to double-check if pricing is a concern.
