I had maybe the most bibimbap of my life here, and that includes contenders from a number of restaurants in the Atlanta area. It was truly perfect. $8 for adding tofu (maybe 1/4 block lmao) is one of the funniest things I've ever seen financially, but hey it's a tourist area and it was absolutely made with skill & care, so I wasn't even mad. I wanted to love Forgotten Tonic because the menu looked unique, but unfortunately this was one of the most disappointing dining experiences we've had in St. Augustine. First, the seating. The tables are unusually tall, making us feel like little kids trying to sit at the adults' table. It wasn't comfortable for anyone in our group. Then there were the lights. They continuously blinked above our table, and it was so distracting that we asked to move. Unfortunately, the second table had the same issue. I know St. Augustine is famous for its ghosts, but I wasn't expecting them to be playing with the lights at 7:00 p.m. while the sun was still shining! The biggest frustration was ordering. We were told menu items could be modified, but after placing our order the server kept returning one item at a time to tell us they actually couldn't make the requested changes. It would have been much better to know that before ordering. The pickle appetizer was another disappointment. Based on the description, I expected a pickle-forward appetizer. Instead, it was mostly kimchi, pickled onions, and other pickled vegetables with only five slices of actual pickles. I honestly don't have the words to describe how disappointing that dish was. I was also excited to try the tzatziki green beans, but the crisp pickled green beans tasted more like fermented green sticks than an enjoyable side dish. The baked Brie arrived with what I initially thought was melted cheese inside the croissant, but it turned out to be undercooked raw dough. Imagine my surprise when I realized I had just taken a bite of raw dough. I actually started feeling sick before we even left the restaurant. My younger son ordered the house root beer, which tasted extremely watered down. He also had the pasta with added grilled chicken, but the chicken was dark meat, overly shiny, and completely unappetizing to him. I ordered the non-alcoholic Velvet Slippers mocktail. One sip was enough--I honestly can't find the words to describe how unpleasant it tasted. My friend ordered the steak sandwich and requested the peppers be left off. After ordering, she was told they couldn't accommodate that request, so she had to pick the peppers off herself and still didn't enjoy the sandwich. My older son ordered the lamb sirloin. Even though lamb is often served medium-rare, this was so rare it looked like it was still bleating. We paid our bill before dessert because my stomach was already upset. I ended up making one last stop in the restroom before catching up with my family, who were already halfway down the street, ready to forget Forgotten Tonic. Sadly, this was one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences we've had. Between the uncomfortable seating, blinking lights, inability to accommodate simple modifications, disappointing food, and getting sick before leaving the restaurant, we won't be returning. read more

Love the dimly lit vibe in here! Great crowd of people on a Saturday night. The vodka pasta (with the added chicken thigh) was 12/10 delicious, we cleaned the plate. The chicken thigh skin was perfectly crispy and the flavors were on point. The tuna tartare was just okay, definitely not something I would order again. It was a bit bland and the tuna chunks were too large. Thankfully the pineapple gave it some much needed flavor, along with the crispy wontons to scoop. Wine bottle prices are fantastic here. Yet all of these elements were present at Forgotten Tonic on July 17, 2026! You must try the dill cocktail, it is surprisingly sassy and refreshing. My dining partner and I enjoyed a few appetizers with our drinks at the bar. Try the arancini, it was by far our favorite. The thoughtful design and layout of this cozy space is much appreciated, as well as the nod the the rich historical and artistic past of St. Augustine. Getting a reservation was very difficult and we ended up with a 9:15 pm time but it was absolutely worth it. I found this spot on TikTok while searching for good food with a great vibe and it did not disappoint. We visited during the holiday season and the Christmas decorations were so fun. They even gave us cute Christmas beanies at the table. They make their sodas from scratch which made my daughter very happy. The alligator chili was amazing and a must order. I had the fresh catch which was red snapper in curry sauce with jasmine rice and it was delicious. My husband had the Caesar salad and meatloaf and both were steal a bite good. My daughter enjoyed the pasta and truffle fries. Drinks were great with lemon drops rosé and an Old Fashioned. Tatum our waitress was wonderful and very personable. The decor is Christmas to go along with "Nights of Lights", and the food and drink are custom for the occasion as well. This remains a must-do for anyone in Saint Augustine and it's consistently the first restaurant I mention when asked where to dine in Saint Augustine. The food is always spectacular, the service excellent, and it's a classy but casual atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating throughout most of the year. At Halloween and Christmas, they go all out with decor and specialty drinks. This time we had the crispy artichoke appetizer and shared the Burrata and Chicken sandwiches. First, I was not feeling well (exhaustion, not illness) and needed something light (and onionless) for dinner. I found it in a lovely dinner salad of spinach, creamy feta cheese, and scoops of cantaloupe melon. I took some home, too. This year, we got lucky and got out on the waitlist and ended up getting an indoor table after about an hour but we didn't mind because we walked around. It was decorated so nicely for Christmas. My friend and I shared the Caesar salad and some meatballs, which were both so delicious and my other friend got truffle fries which were great. I really wanted to try the ube tiramisu because ube and tiramisu are two of my favorite desserts so having them combined was so cool to me. It was probably one of the most authentic Ube desserts I've tried not at a Filipino restaurant, but it was a little different than I expected since the ladyfingers were still hole and it wasn't like actual tiramisu where they're soaked and more like a cake. Thankfully, we made an 8:30pm reservation for Saturday, and despite the crowds, we were seated immediately upon arrival. Instead of entrées, we opted to sample a few appetizers, which ended up being a great choice. The food was so good that we actually forgot about our drinks! We started off super strong - my sister and I came for the Miracle Christmas pop-up and they were able to seat us a little earlier than our reservation which was great! The drink options and the Christmas mugs they came in were so festive and fun. They even had light up Christmas hats for us to wear and take home because we made a reservation. The place was decorated beautifully for Christmas - lights and garland everywhere! My sis got the Chrismopolitan which was delicious and I ordered the yippee ki-yay drink which was so festive, but I liked the classic flavor of her drink a bit better. I will say food and drinks are on the expensive side here. My drink was $19 and I ordered a chicken sandwich with fries which was $20. The chicken sandwich description said "juicy chicken thighs" but it was the driest chicken sandwich I've had in a while, and it didn't help they put the smallest dollop of chipotle mayo on it. I asked for more mayo, but it honestly didn't help. The fries also tasted stale and as if there was no potato in them. A truly medium place. Stay with me on this. We tried a plethora of things, and there were genuine highlights worth coming back for. The drinks were standout. The Bloody Mary's were spicy and well-made, and the cucumbers inside were probably the freshest, crispest thing we ate all meal. The burgers were also hot fire flames delicious. Super juicy (bring a moist towelette), exactly what a drippy burger should be. If you're coming here, come for those two things. The appetizers are where things got rocky. The fish dip was mayo-heavy and fish-light with a small portion for the price. Honestly, the fish market down the road has better quality for less. The bread was stale. The kimchi fried rice was quite acidic; our table was split 50/50 on it, so your mileage may vary. A note for the manager: the opening exchange with our server -- who greeted us at 2:30 by letting us know we'd need to vacate by 5:00 for reservations -- set an unwelcoming tone that colored the whole experience. Guests who are just sitting down don't want their first impression to be a countdown clock. On the sandwich front, the burgers carry the menu, but the others struggled. The fish sandwich had a sweet flavor that didn't deliver on its miso and black garlic description. The chicken sandwich ate like a chicken salad sandwich, which would be fine if the menu said so the descriptions just didn't match what arrived. At this price point, that gap matters. One last thing worth flagging for ops: the table-to-chair height ratio was genuinely uncomfortable. My collarbone was at table height, which made for a very T-Rex-arms kind of meal.
