If you're planning on dining at Forgotten Tonic, then you best get a reservation. We originally had a three-hour wait, which luckily dwindled down to about an hour. In that time, I had a lovely non-alcoholic cocktail and an arancini appetizer at the bar. Those two were the highlights of my experience. Dinner was good and unmemorable. A truly medium place. Stay with me on this. We tried a plethora of things, and there were genuine highlights worth coming back for. The drinks were standout. The Bloody Mary's were spicy and well-made, and the cucumbers inside were probably the freshest, crispest thing we ate all meal. The burgers were also hot fire flames delicious. Super juicy (bring a moist towelette), exactly what a drippy burger should be. If you're coming here, come for those two things. The appetizers are where things got rocky. The fish dip was mayo-heavy and fish-light with a small portion for the price. Honestly, the fish market down the road has better quality for less. The bread was stale. The kimchi fried rice was quite acidic; our table was split 50/50 on it, so your mileage may vary. A note for the manager: the opening exchange with our server -- who greeted us at 2:30 by letting us know we'd need to vacate by 5:00 for reservations -- set an unwelcoming tone that colored the whole experience. Guests who are just sitting down don't want their first impression to be a countdown clock. On the sandwich front, the burgers carry the menu, but the others struggled. The fish sandwich had a sweet flavor that didn't deliver on its miso and black garlic description. The chicken sandwich ate like a chicken salad sandwich, which would be fine if the menu said so the descriptions just didn't match what arrived. At this price point, that gap matters. One last thing worth flagging for ops: the table-to-chair height ratio was genuinely uncomfortable. My collarbone was at table height, which made for a very T-Rex-arms kind of meal. Finally tried Forgotten Tonic after Easter parade today. We ordered meatballs and truffles fries. Meatballs were outstanding but fries were just good. I liked the regular fries better. Getting a reservation was very difficult and we ended up with a 9:15 pm time but it was absolutely worth it. I found this spot on TikTok while searching for good food with a great vibe and it did not disappoint. We visited during the holiday season and the Christmas decorations were so fun. They even gave us cute Christmas beanies at the table. They make their sodas from scratch which made my daughter very happy. The alligator chili was amazing and a must order. I had the fresh catch which was red snapper in curry sauce with jasmine rice and it was delicious. My husband had the Caesar salad and meatloaf and both were steal a bite good. My daughter enjoyed the pasta and truffle fries. Drinks were great with lemon drops rosé and an Old Fashioned. Tatum our waitress was wonderful and very personable. We stopped into The Forgotten Tonic while exploring St. Augustine, and just like many spots in the historic district, the location is fantastic and perfect for a break during a day of walking around. To be fair, we had already eaten lunch, so we only came in for drinks; but honestly, that may have been a mistake. The food coming out to nearby tables looked incredible, and the menu had so many appealing options that we immediately wished we had come hungry. There were several dishes we would have loved to try, even though we were already full. The drinks themselves were excellent; creative, very tasty, and part of a menu that really has something for everyone. It's clear a lot of thought went into the cocktail selection. The ambiance inside is gorgeous and really adds to the overall experience, and the service was friendly and accommodating throughout our visit. Went here with some friends for the Night of Lights and it did not disappoint! It's hard to get seating inside the restaurant, but we only waited 15 minutes to get a table outside. The only downside was the horses, ghosts tours, and the grinch tours would come by the road behind you so you might get heckled by the Grinch (during the holidays) and you will smell the horses when they pass by! This bar & restaurant completely flips their indoor setting to be a winter wonderland with a limited edition menu for the holiday season only. My husband and I came for our anniversary and had a wonderful experience. For dinner we had the shrimp & grits etoufee and the mussels with chorizo. Both dishes were amazing and left us wanting more. Our server surprised us with a sweet treat to celebrate our anniversary - a chocolate cheesecake that was also very yummy. This place is a gem tucked away on a side street away from busy streets. Many of the staff seemed cheerful and social for our mid-day appetizer. The decor is Christmas to go along with "Nights of Lights", and the food and drink are custom for the occasion as well. The charcuterie could have been on a board rather than a plate but the options were quite good. The meats and cheeses were good choices but missing olives, pickles or something sweet like a jam for the bread, though the pimento was a good spread for the bread. This remains a must-do for anyone in Saint Augustine and it's consistently the first restaurant I mention when asked where to dine in Saint Augustine. The food is always spectacular, the service excellent, and it's a classy but casual atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating throughout most of the year. At Halloween and Christmas, they go all out with decor and specialty drinks. This time we had the crispy artichoke appetizer and shared the Burrata and Chicken sandwiches. We chose to upgrade to the truffle fries. Everything was on point and excellent. Even with the sandwiches the little touches like sauces and type of bread used just make this an elevated dining experience. We'll be by as often as we can. First, I was not feeling well (exhaustion, not illness) and needed something light (and onionless) for dinner. I found it in a lovely dinner salad of spinach, creamy feta cheese, and scoops of cantaloupe melon. I took some home, too. I've been wanting to come here for a while but last year during night of lights they didn't have any open tables. This year, we got lucky and got out on the waitlist and ended up getting an indoor table after about an hour but we didn't mind because we walked around. It was decorated so nicely for Christmas. My friend and I shared the Caesar salad and some meatballs, which were both so delicious and my other friend got truffle fries which were great. I really wanted to try the ube tiramisu because ube and tiramisu are two of my favorite desserts so having them combined was so cool to me. It was probably one of the most authentic Ube desserts I've tried not at a Filipino restaurant, but it was a little different than I expected since the ladyfingers were still hole and it wasn't like actual tiramisu where they're soaked and more like a cake. We absolutely loved this place! Atmosphere We visited during the Night of Lights event, so the area was extremely busy. Thankfully, we made an 8:30pm reservation for Saturday, and despite the crowds, we were seated immediately upon arrival. As a fun surprise, the restaurant had placed free light-up beanies on the table for guests with reservations, it was a small but charming touch that earned them extra points from us for sure. Service was incredibly fast! For reference, we were seated at 8:33pm, placed our drink order at 8:40pm, and received them at 8:50pm. We ordered our food as soon as the drinks arrived, and everything came out within about 10 minutes. We were genuinely pleased with the level of service, especially during such a busy time. Food & Drinks We tried two cocktails...the Candy Cane Lane ($22) and the YKYMF! ($22). Both were delicious but they were on the sweeter side, almost like dessert. Peppermint lovers will especially enjoy the Candy Cane Lane. The drinks were a bit pricey, but given the holiday setting, we didn't mind too much. Instead of entrées, we opted to sample a few appetizers, which ended up being a great choice. The food was so good that we actually forgot about our drinks! We stopped in for a quick drink at Forgotten Tonic on Friday night. It's a beautiful spot with a great atmosphere. One side is the bar area and the other side is the restaurant. Both are equally beautiful, i'm interested to check out their food menu. At the bar I got one of their N/A sodas, blackberry lemongrass if I remember correctly. It was fresh and sweet but not overwhelmingly sweet. My SO got a cocktail that came in a fun mug shaped like a dudes head. It was a quick stop for us but we enjoyed it! We started off super strong - my sister and I came for the Miracle Christmas pop-up and they were able to seat us a little earlier than our reservation which was great! The drink options and the Christmas mugs they came in were so festive and fun. They even had light up Christmas hats for us to wear and take home because we made a reservation. The place was decorated beautifully for Christmas - lights and garland everywhere! My sis got the Chrismopolitan which was delicious and I ordered the yippee ki-yay drink which was so festive, but I liked the classic flavor of her drink a bit better. I will say food and drinks are on the expensive side here. My drink was $19 and I ordered a chicken sandwich with fries which was $20. The chicken sandwich description said "juicy chicken thighs" but it was the driest chicken sandwich I've had in a while, and it didn't help they put the smallest dollop of chipotle mayo on it. I asked for more mayo, but it honestly didn't help. The fries also tasted stale and as if there was no potato in them. Overall we would definitely come back for the creative drink options and friendly service, but probably would eat somewhere else. Drinks & experience get a 5/5 while food gets a 2 from me. We had dinner here last night by recommendation from my boss. Made a reservation the night before, and they had a few time slots left. We started off at the bar while we waited for our table. Ordered an Espresso Martini, to which the bartender said "We make the best Espresso Martini's in town". It was good, not the best I've ever had - but delicious. THESE WERE THE BEST MUSSELS I'VE EVER HAD!! The broth is so flavorful, and we were eating it towards the end with spoons like soup! I'm not kidding it was that good! Then we also ordered the meatballs - which whatever is in the white sauce (cheese) is so so so good! We also ordered the egg rolls, I think they had chicken thighs and peppers in them as well as the Truffle Fries... which were the best ever.
