We absolutely loved this place! Atmosphere We visited during the Night of Lights event, so the area was extremely busy. Thankfully, we made an 8:30pm reservation for Saturday, and despite the crowds, we were seated immediately upon arrival. As a fun surprise, the restaurant had placed free light-up beanies on the table for guests with reservations, it was a small but charming touch that earned them extra points from us for sure. The décor was so pretty and festive, with Christmas trees, lights, and ornaments filling the space. The lively holiday ambiance really elevated our overall experience. Service Our server was incredibly sweet, attentive, and patient. Even with the place packed, she made sure all our questions were answered and that we were well taken care of. Service was incredibly fast! For reference, we were seated at 8:33pm, placed our drink order at 8:40pm, and received them at 8:50pm. We ordered our food as soon as the drinks arrived, and everything came out within about 10 minutes. We were genuinely pleased with the level of service, especially during such a busy time. Food & Drinks We tried two cocktails...the Candy Cane Lane ($22) and the YKYMF! ($22). Both were delicious but they were on the sweeter side, almost like dessert. Peppermint lovers will especially enjoy the Candy Cane Lane. The drinks were a bit pricey, but given the holiday setting, we didn't mind too much. Instead of entrées, we opted to sample a few appetizers, which ended up being a great choice. The food was so good that we actually forgot about our drinks! We ordered the Montenegro Meatballs, Crispy Artichoke, and the Arancini. The Crispy Artichoke and Arancini were absolute standouts, easy 10/10 dishes that we couldn't stop eating even after we were full. The meatballs were good as well, just not as memorable. You wouldn't miss anything if you skipped the meatballs. Overall We had such a wonderful time here. I ordered the pickle plate off the Happy Hour Menu. It is normally $11 but costs $7 during Happy Hour. Our server recommended I order a side of bread to go with it and I'm glad I took her suggestion. The cocktails get a 5/5, but the food brings it down for me unfortunately. We started off super strong - my sister and I came for the Miracle Christmas pop-up and they were able to seat us a little earlier than our reservation which was great! The drink options and the Christmas mugs they came in were so festive and fun. They even had light up Christmas hats for us to wear and take home because we made a reservation. The place was decorated beautifully for Christmas - lights and garland everywhere! My sis got the Chrismopolitan which was delicious and I ordered the yippee ki-yay drink which was so festive, but I liked the classic flavor of her drink a bit better. I will say food and drinks are on the expensive side here. My drink was $19 and I ordered a chicken sandwich with fries which was $20. The chicken sandwich description said "juicy chicken thighs" but it was the driest chicken sandwich I've had in a while, and it didn't help they put the smallest dollop of chipotle mayo on it. I asked for more mayo, but it honestly didn't help. The fries also tasted stale and as if there was no potato in them. Overall we would definitely come back for the creative drink options and friendly service, but probably would eat somewhere else. Drinks & experience get a 5/5 while food gets a 2 from me. We had dinner here last night by recommendation from my boss. Made a reservation the night before, and they had a few time slots left. We started off at the bar while we waited for our table. Ordered an Espresso Martini, to which the bartender said "We make the best Espresso Martini's in town". It was good, not the best I've ever had - but delicious. A little chocolate and lemon notes, which complimented the cocktail very well. We then got sat, our server was Abby. She was fantastic and so sweet! We ordered the mussels entree as our appetizer... THESE WERE THE BEST MUSSELS I'VE EVER HAD!! The broth is so flavorful, and we were eating it towards the end with spoons like soup! I'm not kidding it was that good! Then we also ordered the meatballs - which whatever is in the white sauce (cheese) is so so so good! We also ordered the egg rolls, I think they had chicken thighs and peppers in them as well as the Truffle Fries... which were the best ever. Perfectly fried with the perfect amount of truffle oil dipped in a garlic aioli. DIVINE! Then we ended the night with Crème Brûlée, and it was so so good!!! A truly medium place. Stay with me on this. We tried a plethora of things, and there were genuine highlights worth coming back for. The drinks were standout. The Bloody Mary's were spicy and well-made, and the cucumbers inside were probably the freshest, crispest thing we ate all meal. The burgers were also hot fire flames delicious. Super juicy (bring a moist towelette), exactly what a drippy burger should be. If you're coming here, come for those two things. The appetizers are where things got rocky. The fish dip was mayo-heavy and fish-light with a small portion for the price. Honestly, the fish market down the road has better quality for less. The bread was stale. The kimchi fried rice was quite acidic; our table was split 50/50 on it, so your mileage may vary. A note for the manager: the opening exchange with our server -- who greeted us at 2:30 by letting us know we'd need to vacate by 5:00 for reservations -- set an unwelcoming tone that colored the whole experience. Guests who are just sitting down don't want their first impression to be a countdown clock. On the sandwich front, the burgers carry the menu, but the others struggled. The fish sandwich had a sweet flavor that didn't deliver on its miso and black garlic description. The chicken sandwich ate like a chicken salad sandwich, which would be fine if the menu said so the descriptions just didn't match what arrived. At this price point, that gap matters. One last thing worth flagging for ops: the table-to-chair height ratio was genuinely uncomfortable. My collarbone was at table height, which made for a very T-Rex-arms kind of meal. A small fix that would meaningfully improve the dining experience. There's a real foundation here. great drinks, great burgers, a fun atmosphere. Called ahead to see if they could accommodate us or take a reservation for 4 adults and 2 infants. They said they had a table outside but wouldn't give us a reservation so we could secure it as we walked there. By the time we got there the table was luckily still available but they wouldn't listen that we didn't need a table for 6 like they kept saying they didn't have. The infants were being worn and no stroller or high chairs needed. Eventually they just gave us the 4 chair top. The drinks were all seasonal and unique on the menu. I got the Santa slide (white one). The 2 red ones weren't good, run run reindeer, I didn't taste the other but they said it was good. I got the roasted chicken with fries. Both were good. Also had gotten warm bread for the table and got the butter and oil with it. Both the butter and oil were excessive amount for the amount of bread you get. She saw we were out and offered more bread, not mentioning that it was an additional charge, just assumed she was being nice since she saw there was so much butter and oil left, but we got charged. If you don't know this place also adds a surcharge to every table. Rather than charge appropriately to pay their staff, they sneak this "fee" in but then still want a tip too. According to the note in the bathroom I saw after the bill was paid the surcharge is to pay their staff better wages, but then they double dip on people that don't see this so effectively getting double tipped. It was good though. I've only tried really basic things on the menu like the fish sandwich and house salad. Again, not a memorable meal. I do remember having truffle fries and fried green tomato which were good. The Hecht & Bannier rose was a nice pairing with the fish. These were some of the best cocktails I've ever had. We had a raising cane, apple martini, old Cuban, and dark & stormy. We always have a fantastic experience at Forgotten Tonic. Just visiting for the day, we decided to have lunch at our favorite St. Augustine spot. We started with the Crispy Artichoke appetizer, which really fills you up. Crispy and delicious artichoke pieces, warm & crispy bread, and the rich & creamy dip are heavenly. For our meals, we decided on two sandwiches to split and of course, had to trufflize our fries. The Burrata sandwich had a wonderful walnut pesto and the creamiest burrata that went perfectly with the focaccia bread. The chicken sandwich had so many flavors that made for a delicious bite. The chicken thigh was juicy and could be eaten all by itself, but the pimento cheese, pickled onions, dill pickle chips, and hot honey, along with the soft pretzel roll sent it over the top. Our server was great too, very attentive and made sure our waters were always refilled. As always, the restaurant was busy, inside and out. Most of the booths were full when we arrived and all of the outside tables were full when we left. Still our favorite place in St. Augustine and happy to see others feel that way too! read more

I came with some friends on a week night to have some cocktails and an appetizer. The hostess told us she was hesitant for us to sit outside due to potential rain. We looked at the radar and did not see rain and told her we would be ok. She warned us that if it rained she may not be able to move us inside. We told her it was totally ok and that we would just be having one round of drinks and an appetizer and would leave in about 45 min. She insisted that it was going to rain. Finally we said we really would like to be outside and she finally obliged. The service was slow. The best part of the experience was the bartender who was super friendly and very kind. We asked him to make a replica drink and he was able to and even came outside to see how we were doing. This was difficult to rate. Hubs and I visited this place a couple times when it was Cellar but this was a totally different experience. I was craving mussels so that is what I ordered. Hubs and I were visiting with one of his coworkers, who lives close by. We all ordered drinks as well. The restaurant was not much different than when it was under a previous name. The menu was different and maybe it was a little busier than our previous visit but in the end, disappointing in a sense. Our drinks arrived in a timely manner so we sipped on those while deep in conversation. Hubs and his coworker's entrees arrived in a timely manner, while I waited for mine. They both finished everything on their plates and I was still waiting! Finally, a manager came over and offered a round of drinks on the house to compensate. That was a good gesture but I was still without my food. So a quick reason why I get frustrated/anxious in restaurants-being a type 1 diabetic, you have to load up on insulin in advance to when you're eating. So if you don't eat in time, you crash. That is what was happening. Luckily it did not become an extreme crash, but still uncomfortable. When the mussels finally arrived, they were good. Not the best but definitely not the worst. I waited close to 45 minutes for my meal to arrive and not really acceptable for what I ordered. I am glad management stepped in but not cool when my fellow patrons were already finished with their meals and I was still waiting. What was worse, there were no updates in the interim. I think the staff may be the same from the previous restaurant because we experienced similar issues previously. It is definitely a cozy place inside so I do want to try them again. read more

This cute little chic bistro is open seven days a week 11am to 11pm Sun-Thur and 11-midnight Sat and Sunday. I had the Fish Sandwich with fries $21. It was delicious. Sophisticated place to celebrate any life event. Very good service, our waitress was very professional. I have to applaud her for not touching the inside of my plate and top of my glass, it is rare in US to find someone that professional in a regular restaurant. Food was delicious, trout was juicy and cooked through which was perfect reminded me of home and Mediterranean cooking. Butter and bread were devine and olives were out of this world. This pasta was also great and everyone at the table loved their food. The atmosphere was nice and relaxing but upbeat enough that people can listen to good Music and have meaningful conversation. Appetizers, main course and drinks tasted exactly how they were described in the menu- no notes! I will be thinking about the perfectly crisp skin on the Chicken Bella for some time. They were able to squeeze us in when I called in twenty minutes before arriving. The booths were already reserved so we had a table in the middle. It didn't destroy the ambiance at all. Once we sat down- it still felt cozy. The seats, decor and vibe were good. I moved the lamp to the side of the table because I was too short to see over it to my dinner companion. Not bad for the only negative! We had a newer server that was very sweet and learning the job. I would go back and order almost everything again. I think the brown butter cake is the only thing I would skip. It wasn't bad- everything had flavor and the right amount of sweetness. But it just wasn't for me. I think I just expected the cake part to be more buttery and moist. I will bring anyone from out of town to The Forgotten Tonic. I think we found our place. Drinks are split up in different areas as well as the food. Way too confusing. It was actually frustrating. I saw items I would have preferred to have as I leafed through it after I ate.
