Food was great! giant portions and the best fried fish in town by far! Prices were excellent! Service was fast and great and it was spotlessly clean!

    Philly Cheese Steak with fries

On a Sunday afternoon my husband and I decided to try Sam's. He ordered Philly Cheese Steak with fries (well done and no seasoning), I ordered Shrimp Po'Boy with fried okra. Both were fantastic and the fries were cooked exactly like my husband likes them. We will definitely go back.

Shoutout to Angel and the hard work kitchen staff here at this venue. Angel was so personable, welcoming, friendly, and pleasant to chat with. She really loves St Augustine This is a very fun menu including sandwiches, wings, yummy sides, combos, and kids meals too. The dining area is clean, bright, and gives you lots of elbow space. The macaroni and cheese and cheese burgers were already sold out today, so they must be good! The bathroom is unisex, well lit, and kept clean. There seemed to be a lot of regulars and that is good sign. I can't wait to try out more items, but we stared off with our favorites this first time here. We ordered the choose 3 combo: Fried oysters, chicken tenders, and wings. Hubby enjoyed the plump fried oysters first. The tenders are nicely sized tender white meat. The chicken wings are whole wings and that gives a lot of crispy surface area to collect the lemon pepper flavor that I had mine tossed with today. A nice flavor bump to the already delicious wing. The side orders were delicious and portioned generously. We had fried okra, fried mushrooms, coleslaw, and green beans. Yes, I ordered some extra sides, just to try my favorites. It was hard to pick, because they had a lot to choose from. I had sweet tea and hubby had a soda. We had to take some food home for sure, because we filled up fast! Our fellow patrons were so friendly and we enjoyed conversing with them as they were waiting for their orders. A very nice spot for some Southern comfort food!!! Lots of love from us to them and back to us!!! It was peaceful :)

If you don't like shrimp or seafood, or fried/Southern food, this place is not made for you. I always get the shrimp plate, squash casserole, and green beans, and sweet tea (with hush puppies). Yes, there's veggies on the plate, but they are swimming in butter and all the fiber is cooked out of them. The fried shrimp are very lightly battered--they are perfect. Service is fast and friendly. It's a family-run place and you can tell. The place is small, though it has grown, a bit, over the years. Regardless, there is very likely to be a line! You can always order to go, but it's not quite the same. There's a few picnic tables out back for to go orders as their food has to be eaten fresh for full effect! It's cash only, too. The decor leans heavily on coastal/Americana. They are very proud to be American, especially with the 250th birthday. I will say, though the American decorations are plenty, it does not feel political, simply celebratory. As for the kids, they have your expected fried kid items. There's not any coloring pages or anything. But the place is kid friendly in the fact that the food is served quickly and the servers are patient with kids. It's a tight space, so squirmy kids might have to get their energy out outside. Their newer bathrooms are more family (and wheelchair) friendly. As long as this place keeps up the consistency with their shrimp, I will keep coming back. My last visit, though, I did the unheard: I ordered chicken! (I still got some shrimp, too) The chicken was equally good and very hearty. The biscuits, though, were clearly canned. But if that's the only corner they cut, I don't really mind.

No reservations taken, check in and then wait outside on a long bench or stand in the shade by the next building. The wait can be long, but we lucked out with a table for two. It was a busy evening, and a few big big groups. Bring cash...no credit cards. They have a fried chicken special for $11.99, with 2 sides and 2 hush puppies. The fried shrimp is the most popular dish on the menu, with a choice of how many pieces. There is no booze, but the ice tea, sweet or unsweetened is tasty, and refilled often. I had the 9 piece shrimp dinner with macaroni and cheese and the cucumber salad with the delicious hush puppies. The red fish was delicious too. The Minorcan soup had the right amount of heat. No room for a piece of pie. The staff is so well trained. Restaurants have come and gone, but O'Steen's has the right formula. When we left, the lines were longer. Best to get they earlier than later. Don't forget they are closed on Sunday and Monday.

I had mentioned two guests had a birthday in my reservation and they put two birthday notecards on the table, this was a lovely touch. The ambiance outside was perfect, wasn't loud at all and lighting was moody. I had a Ruby Fizz Mocktail and it was one of the best mocktails I have ever had. The others drinks were strong and good! The food was incredible. I highly recommend the scallop toast (we ordered it a second time because it was so good!) and bread service for starter. The table really liked the empanadas, I was not a huge fan (but, I am from Miami so my empanada taste buds are different LOL). The Rockefeller Snapper was incredible. Huge piece of yellowtail and just an overall unique dish. The Scallop Cavatelli had to have been one of the best seafood dishes I have ever had. It was rich and decadent. I am not sure if they hand roll the pasta in house, but the pasta tasted so fresh. The table had some espresso martinis to end the night and I had a decaf French press coffee (I think he said French press). It was all delicious. Highly highly recommend.

There was no one at hostess stand because system was down and they were having troubles which I felt bad for the hostess who seemed stressed on obviously a busy night. They were out of both of the entrees we wanted, which was unfortunate but I ended up getting the catch beurre blanc and it was delicious. I ordered a sangria but our drinks took a very long time to come out, after our appetizer (crab, an heirloom tomato bruschetta which was yummy and more filling than regular bruschetta!) Overall, the food was really good and waitress was nice, but water was never refilled and everything took a really long time to come out. Would love to try it again on a regular night and hopefully they have the entrees we wanted to try:)
