Wow- this restaurant was a real gem. It's a little tricky figuring out parking - because the restaurant itself is behind a gated RV park. However, there is dedicated parking outside the park. The vibe is definitely funky and uplifting. The staff were exceptionally nice and helpful. They offer a full bar with specialty cocktails. The fried pickle chips we had were delicious. The fish tacos were definitely one of the best I've eaten. Large chunks of fried fish and great sauce. The prices are moderate and the quality of the food is great. Visited the new shack today. We used to be in love, like seriously in love, with the food truck. My last review was about 5 years ago after our first visit and we were blown away. It had the best fries covered in this amazing herb salt, the best grilled cheese, everything came out hot and delicious every time. Unfortunately, I cant say the same of the shack. The food came out cold, the fries were crispy but barely any seasoning, and my sunny side egg on my tots brunch meal had runny whites. Husband has always gotten the lump crab grilled cheese and he even noticed it felt like there was less crab in it this time. Still good, but again, it came out lukewarm. The staff is wonderful, the new location is odd but kinda a vibe. You can get day passes to the pool which is a cool concept. Just disappointed with the food as an OG fan of the funk. read more

I cant believe I didnt review this place the minute I left it! Better late than never! So my first experience with Funkadelic was when it was a food truck and one of the people I worked with raved so much, we had to go track it down one afternoon. It was so so so so (many more sos) good! I still remember the burger in all its glory. So cut to my disappointment in finding out I could no longer regularly find the truck in JAX and that if I wanted to try them again, I would have to head to StAug...I bit the bullet and did it anyhow! LOL Again, top notch. The food is absolutely delicious and different...not the same ole same ole on the menu. I ordered the beets with goat cheese and "togarashi" did I spell that right? seasoning and it was perfectly prepared, seasoned and whatever else you would want it to be...I have even tried to recreate it at home. Nope. So good. I would go back just for that. My friend and I had a couple of cocktails, great conversation, and great food. What more could you ask for? We pulled up and almost decided to try another place because the idea of a good restaurant in an RV park was a little difficult to believe. But it was getting late and we didn't think we could find someplace for 8 people. While it did take forever to get waited on (they were pretty busy and a little short-handed at the moment), the menu looked really interesting. We got a wide variety of dishes: kids grilled cheese that was gourmet-worthy, a beet salad, lump crab grilled cheese, shrimp sliders, and a pasta salad with balsamic glaze that was much better than any other restaurant pasta salad I've ever had. Everybody was really impressed with their food, and not a single complaint. Would definitely come back and try it again! Would have given it 5 stars if we didn't have to wait so long, but the waitress was very apologetic, and we've waited longer at a lot places we didn't like. read more

We have been twice this week and both times the food was fabulous. I had the sticky rice bowl with the catch of the day , redfish. The sticky rice and mango salsa complimented the blackened fish perfectly. My husband had the seared tuna special and said it was the best tuna he's had in a long time! Soooo good!! Ordered a goods bowl with pork shoulder and my husband ordered one of their burrito specials with Cajun fries. All the flavors were on point, fries were perfectly crisp and each meal was plenty of food at a good price. Parking and space to eat might be limited on certain days at this food truck park. If you can get a seat you will get a nice view of the water. There was also a bit of a wait for the food but it's well worth the wait since everything is made to order. One of, if not my favorite food truck in Jax/STA. Every time I come, they consistently deliver quality food and good customer service. They used to roam around there area but they are now parked at English Landing Marina aka Marina Munch amongst a handful of other food trucks. We have been many a time, but this visit (a Saturday), a guitarist/ singer, which was a nice addition. It was buzzing with people but it was still easy to find a seat. All of their dishes are rich and flavorful. They offer different meats and fish (lamb and wahoo for example). Give this a try - you won't be disappointed. read more

This was a to go to order. Tonight I tried the sticky rice bowl with blackened shrimp. The funk sauce as always is like the most delicious sauce to put on anything. The mango salsa could have been less sweet with some added red onion?.... the spicy shrimp which were large and cooked perfectly. The sticky rice was very yummy as well. I felt tho it was missing something else and couldn't really place it. It needs something else because essentially it's shrimp and rice. The quac is not freshly made-it seemed to come out of a package i was no plated to match the plating of the shrimp and 2 scoops on the side of quac the container -all by the slaves? ?? I think it needs like plantain sticks or even like sweet plantains maybe? When all mixed together it was very good but I have had better visual platings from Funk before. $15 is expensive for a rice bowl dish so please make it pretty for me so I feel better about it it doesn't take much to be creative and I know you can because I have seen it with other dishes of yours. read more
