My wife and I have visited The Ice Plant several times over the years, and it remains one of our favorite dining destinations in St. Augustine. The combination of imaginative cocktails, exceptional food, and a unique atmosphere makes every visit memorable. The cocktail program is outstanding. We enjoy trying a variety of their exotic and inventive drinks, and they never disappoint. The flavors are bold, creative, and unlike anything you'll find at a typical restaurant bar. The Yellow Submarine cocktail is quite possibly the best drink I have ever consumed. Made with curry-infused Bermuda black rum, lime, ginger, and Asian five-spice brown sugar syrup, it sounded unusual on paper but came together beautifully. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered four of them that evening, something I rarely do. That was three years ago, and despite returning several times since then, I have never seen it on the menu again. The food is equally impressive. Two years ago, I ordered the Skillet Roasted New York Strip served with Yukon Gold potato-anna, roasted asparagus and spring onions, watercress, and black truffle hollandaise. To this day, it remains one of the top five restaurant meals I have ever eaten. Every component on the plate was exceptional. The steak was perfectly prepared, the crispy potato galette was irresistible, and the black truffle hollandaise elevated the entire dish to another level. It was the kind of meal that stays with you long after the plate is cleared. I would gladly drive 300 miles just to eat it again. Most recently, I had the wild mushroom bisque, and it was the best soup I have ever consumed. Rich, creamy, buttery, intensely mushroomy, and perfectly balanced, it was everything a mushroom soup should be. The addition of crispy pickled onions and crème fraîche added texture and contrast that made an already outstanding soup even better. My wife and I enjoyed it so much that we returned the very next day hoping to order it again, only to discover it had already rotated off the menu. My only complaint about The Ice Plant is that some of their greatest creations seem to disappear as quickly as they arrive. While I appreciate the constantly evolving menu and understand that seasonal changes are part of what makes the restaurant special, there are certain items that deserve a permanent home. The Yellow Submarine cocktail, the wild mushroom bisque, and the Skillet Roasted New York Strip with black truffle hollandaise are three of the finest things I have experienced there. The fact that I can vividly remember one of these items from three years ago and another from two years ago says everything. Great restaurants serve good food. Truly special restaurants create dishes and drinks that stay with you for years. The Ice Plant is one of those places where the experience starts before you ever take a bite of food. The decor fits St. Augustine perfectly. Antique, rustic, comfortable, and full of enough character that you almost feel like you've stepped 200 years back in time. Then the drinks arrive, and suddenly you realize you've been transported into the future of cocktails. I wish I could remember the name of the drink I ordered because it was spectacular. Whiskey, a little sweetness, mint, and crushed ice. That's about all I can tell you. What I can tell you is that I could have happily consumed about 30 of them, tumbled down the stairs, and been perfectly happy about the whole experience. My wife went with the Mojito, and it was brilliantly constructed. The crushed ice and layered mint made it look almost too good to drink. Almost. The drinks absolutely deserve five stars. Then came the blue crab beignets, and they were spectacular. That's the kind of appetizer that makes you stop talking for a minute because everyone at the table is too busy enjoying what's happening. Unfortunately, the rest of the food didn't quite live up to the cocktails. The fish dip was very average and lacked much flavor, and the menu itself felt pretty limited. So here's the deal: if you're coming to The Ice Plant for drinks, I would have no problem giving it five stars. The cocktails are that good. This is a highly recommended stop for a drink in St. Augustine. But I have to review the entire experience, and the limited menu and average fish dip bring the overall experience down a notch. Four stars. Come for the drinks. Stay for the atmosphere. Definitely order the blue crab beignets. And if you happen to find yourself three cocktails deep, admiring the antique decor while contemplating the stairs, maybe just take your time. read more

I visited on June 18th at around 6pm, and the only negative thing I have to say is about the attitude of the host at the entrance. When I arrived with my pregnant wife and my service dog, he asked somewhat curtly if it was a service dog. After I confirmed and thanked him, he rudely placed the menu on the table, turned around without saying another word or showing any basic courtesy, and just walked away with his back to us. It was a pretty cold and uncomfortable welcome. That said, the restaurant is absolutely charming. I really loved the interior ambiance--it's cozy, well-decorated, and has a very pleasant vibe. The food was extremely delicious. We ordered the Half Pound Ice Plant Burger and it was juicy, fresh, and packed with flavor. You could taste the quality in every single bite--the meat was perfect, the ingredients fresh, and everything very well balanced. Definitely one of the best burgers I've had recently. It is so beautiful in here. My girlfriend and I were obsessed with the aesthetic. The staff is also super nice and the way they make their drinks is truly an artwork. I really enjoyed my espresso martini here and thought it was one of my favorites I've ever tried. My girlfriend loved their drink and thought it was very refreshing. The building is fantastic! However, the service here is lacking. Our server did not know much about the menu items . When asked she would say she wasn't sure she would find out but then never came back to tell us. She definitely did not add anything to our experience. The food was very good but not excellent. Holy cannoli this place is a must if you're ever visiting St. Augustine! We checked it out right after The Lightner Museum and it went perfect with our "old town history" theme. Superb service! (Constantly refilling water glasses, very efficient between ordering and serving, the flavor was out of the park) We got the Pimento Cheese for an app, 1/2 lb. burger with truffle fries and an espresso martini. I've had better truffle fries, but that was the only negative thing we could think of. It felt like we took a time travel machine and enjoyed linner for a bit, we also did the Bourbon tour after which was also a great experience! So cool how its all connected. Everything was very good. They also offer a tour of the distillery, and there's a store on-site where you can purchase the liquor they make. We went to St Augustine for a little getaway with our friends We all travel and eat out frequently. When you enter the restaurant on the ground floor you are greeted by the hostess. We asked about a table and she gave the time. As we had approached the restaurant we saw folks having drinks outside on a balcony. We asked if there was an outside bar. The response was quick and snarky. " bar? We don't have that, it's just where people sit. The attitude was palpable. We walked upstairs to the bar. It was not busy and yet the two bartenders acted as though it was, not making eye contact for fear of having to serve us. Our friends experienced the same issue on the other side. It was as if it was a privilege for us to be able to order a drink. The bartender finally looked at me and nodded his head without any greeting. I asked for the one drink and then a Tito's drink and he quickly said, again with attitude, we don't serve that here. No suggestions, no friendly reply, and just stared. I ordered another vodka. I didn't realize till later that they were also a distillery so maybe this offended the little guy. The proper response would've been, hey we don't have Tito's but would you like to try our local spirits? Oh well, enough about our initial impression. We were seated within 30 minutes and the ambience is cool. Not many tables for such a large building and no outdoor seating Our waitress was much more accommodating. We ordered the crab cake beignets. Very good!.light and creamy, not heavily fried. The shrimp bisque was awesome. Light and not heavy with cream. The fish dip was great but small, more chips than dip. The prices here for drinks and apps are higher than others nearby. Portions for shareable apps should be bigger. Honestly I started off disappointed, but was pleasantly surprised. I looked up the menu online and had my heart set on two options, only to find out when I get there that the menu is completely different in restaurant. They couldn't even substitute or accommodate, which is very disappointing. The waitress was not even willing to ask the chef. She then brought us an appetizer as an apology, which did give us a chance and by us I mean me, the chance to look over the menu. We had our drinks but we decided after the app that we would find something there. This felt like a bait and switch. The food was good, but the menu issue definitely makes me apprehensive on coming back because I feel like I won't know what I will be getting so I probably won't ever come back to try this place as the online menu is so unreliable. On Friday, 5/29/2026 my wife and I took my mother who is visiting from WV to the Ice Plant in Saint Augustine. We were greeted at the door by "Abby." Very pleasant and made us feel welcomed. The outside of the restaurant is absolutely awesome. Old truck in the lot, good parking, and decorated in such a cool manner. We were taken to our table by "Abby" where our server, "Sam" greeted us. Such a great young guy. Very friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming. Sam continued "Abby's" welcoming but, truly took it to another level. We joked back and forth and it felt like a family member was serving us. Then, the food...INSANELY GOOD! The Blue Crab Beignets alone make me wanna come back. Holy smokes were those good. I cut up the left over burger I had on my plate and home fries for my sleeping son so he could eat when he got up. I asked for a container she said she could do it for me. There was another plate of home fries from my husband's burger. she asked if we wanted that as well so we said yes. She could just put it with the other burger and home fries. But she threw away the cut up burger I had taken the time to cut up for my son and the home fries I cut up and did not put it in the box. Needless to say each burger meal is around $27.
