The Philly cheese steak sandwich is AWESOME!!!! There are lots of arcade games and tables for large parties - we were a family of 8. The service was quick and friendly. Most of us had the cheese steak but the others who had the hamburger and ham sub equally enjoyed them. Not gonna lie.... for the amount of times it have been in St Augustine it took me way too long to finally make it to South-A-Philly. First off love the spot it's simple and for a good Cheesesteak that's all you need. Of course they had Herr's so we got 2 bags. Went with 3 Cheesesteaks, 2 Wiz Wit (Cheese Wiz & Onion) and 1 White America with Onions. If you're asking well what Herr's did you get it was 2 bags of the Jalapeno Poppers Cheese Curls. They are the best Cheese Puff on the market. So the Cheesesteak, for sure in the top of the 904 area. My go to was the Wiz Wit and this was fulling packed. Tons of steak and plenty of wiz. Everyone knows there is nothing worse then a dry cheesesteak. Bread was soft, onions caramelized and on the bigger side for sure. It's for sure a very finely chopped steak. Really good cheesesteak! It's not my favorite I've ever had but I might be the best I've ever had outside of Philly! I loved the wiz cheesesteak. The bread was so soft but still allowed the meat and cheese to be the star of the show! One Philly was more than enough food and even made for good leftovers later! Arrived at restaurant a little before 9:00 pm and didn't know they were closing. We ordered 2 beers and a Philly Cheese. After sipping the beer the young bearded man handed me a bag and said "You have 3 minutes". Then 2 minutes later, said we have 60 seconds. In St. Augustine for the Thanksgiving holiday and I was delighted to see a Philly themed restaurant. Saw the menu and after noting the sides are referred to as "Side Jawns", I knew this would be the place to cure my cravings for authentic Philly food. Having grown up outside Philly, there are certain dishes that are almost impossible to find in other states. This restaurant delivers that authentic taste. My husband got a cheesesteak and I got the Italian salad which was so good. I took advantage of the "recommended dessert" on the DoorDash menu and got a great walk down memory lane. Good food. OMG, pinball love pinball was raised, playing pinball and I'll continue to play pinball love, this place cheesesteaks hoagies, and here from Philly. This is the spot for you. They even have her potato chip brand and I think the only brand they sell had to grab a couple bags to take back to the art Airbnb we were here for about 2 to 3 hours just playing good open ball so if you were raised, bring your quarters the guy, the owner he is from South Philadelphia. I believe that the best Philly cheesesteak are the finest in the land. Until now. I quizzed the owners about where they buy the rolls. Correct answer is Amoroso rolls! And the get these rolls from Philly. Their roast pork, broccoli rabe and provolone is on point. Reminds me of D'Nics pork steak at the Reading Terminal in Philly. I asked them if the sold the soft pretzel. Response - no. Pro -- Philly is alive in Saint Augustine. I love, love, love a late night greasy food place after a night of drinking and partying, but let's Just say that this place was really close to hitting the spot for me. I don't know if it was the bun that threw my off, but I wasn't as impressed with my cheesesteak. The meat was good. The cheese was good too, but when it all came together, it was lacking some yummy goodness to it. They don't have a big menu & after looking at pics on Yelp and hearing about how good this place was from some locals, I expected it to really deliver and it just didn't. This restaurant on the first floor below A1A Ale Works stays open super late on weekends after the bars have closed. I had a chance to visit at a reasonable hour for once and had the classic Philly cheesesteak with hot pepper relish, green peppers and onions on hoagie bread. It was delicious and disappeared quickly. There are a half-dozen other things on the menu I'd like to come back for. They do a good job of making the place look like a distant outpost of Philadelphia, right down to the broad selection of Herr's potato chips. Local real estate agent Kate Dobosz had left some free refrigerator magnets containing the 2024 Philadelphia Phillies schedule, which is brilliant marketing. Right at the circle intersection on King St. off the bridge is an affordable and authentic philly cheesesteak joint. It's a few blocks removed from the tourist-crazed St. George pedestrian mall, so things are a bit quieter here. Housed in an older building, this truly Philly-centric restaurant is part restaurant, part arcade, part bar but it feels very comfortable. Philly sports team memorabilia line the walls while about 10 pinball machines occupy prominent space within these skinny confines. We ordered one garlicky Philly cheesesteak sandwich to split as a snack/lunch. It was 9-inches of cheesy chopped steak goodness. While narrower then other sandwiches we've had, the melty cheese was spot on. I believe you have your choice of various cheeses for this sandwich and we chose provolone. Pretty good, pretty basic, I just wish there was more sandwich for the money, but still a good value for St. Augustine. read more

As a side, I added the cheese fries (because let's be honest, who can resist cheese fries?) The meal was prepared and delivered rather quickly as the food was still hot when it arrived. The food items were individually wrapped and labeled, including the cheese fries. Opened the sub and first impressions were great. It looked amazing! The bag had a side of extra cheese sauce, but saw our cheese steaks had cheese in it already which confused us. Spoiler alert, I had to use the cheese for my sub because I didn't get any cheese taste at all. With the sub being packed full of aromatic and flavorful ingredients, you'd think I'd rate this place higher. But you'd only be partly right. I opted for the roasted pepper garlic cheese steak because the description reads as "marinated in garlic". I did not taste a lot of the flavors promised - jalapeño, peppers, garlic. Nor did I get any heat from the jalapeño or hot pepper relish. The food was decent enough. But, I felt that perhaps my expectations did not match reality. If I could give this less than one star, I would. My husband and I went in last night (2/26) around 730 at night. The restaurant was completely empty. The only people present were the cashier, the cook, and our ourselves. We ordered one Philly cheesesteak sandwich to split and an order of loaded fries both the cashier and the cook we're standing there while we placed our order and I asked for the ranch on the side. They both confirmed and said they will put the ranch on the side the cook walked to the back and started cooking. The cashier yelled, put the ranch on the side and he yelled back "heard!" ( so just to be clear they both did confirm twice, my request for the ranch to be on the side) About 15 minutes later, the cashier walks up to us and places the food in front of us, apologizing that they forgot about the ranch (which was smothered all over the entire box of fries) and said " sorry we forgot to put your ranch on the side. Hope this is OK anyways"... Then the cook came out and blamed the girl for not putting it on the ticket, which our response to him was well we did hear you also yell heard after we requested no ranch. My main problem with this is the fact that they are acknowledging the fact that this isn't what I ordered it in our bringing it to me anyways. We paid $50 for everything that we got and we couldn't even get what we asked for, which seemed like a simple request. I'd also like to add that while we were waiting a Uber eats driver showed up to pick up an order and the cash register said they never received one and demanded proof, making it sounds like the uber eats driver was at fault... Come to find out they did receive the order 20 minutes prior to that and they were too busy goofing off to prepare the order. My overall take of this place is the staff that they hire could completely care less about the business or the customers, and you should spend your money elsewhere... Couldn't imagine eating here if it was busy. read more

okay whoever was working cashier on sunday dec 31 midnight (late saturday night) was such a douche. The steak sandwich was basically burnt. The guy that took our order was sitting at a table running his hands through his hair as we approached, got up took our order...no biggie, right? He then proceeded to make our food, no gloves, no handwashing, no nothing. NEVER AGAIN & I mean NEVER. The sandwich was $15 and so not worth it. Since we visit St. Augustine several times a year, we like to find decent places to eat. We especially like places that are open late, which most of the town shuts down around 10pm. This place is open until 2:30am Fridays and Saturdays! Bonus!! So, onto the yums! I am from NY so obviously I have been spoiled by the real cheesesteaks in Philly. Since I moved to FL, I have been hesitant to try places that advertise authentic foods from significant places. The first time we tried this place was years ago and continue to keep coming! We get the traditional cheesesteak with cheez whiz. OMG it really tastes like Pat's or Gino's! I scarf down that food like I did not eat for days!! We get a side of fries sometimes but have not strayed from the traditional noms. They also have local beers on tap. The prices are really reasonable as well. The ambiance varies depending on what time you go. Since we usually go after 1am, you can only imagine how sloppy it gets in there. I feel so bad for the staff dealing with the amateurs. The staff is very patient and I know I would not be! I try to go above and beyond by being super nice and polite to them. I think we have dealt with the same staff member most of the time. Tall, glasses, beard, hat, with a great personality, and always a positive experience. So either way, try this place! read more

My drink had mold in it. They probably haven't ever cleaned their spigots or ice machine in the soda fountain. I told the employee who was surprised but didn't really rush to clean anything. The sandwich itself was mediocre. I had a chicken pizzasteak sandwich. The sauce was just generic canned sauce. I'm not positive if it was just bagged chicken or not. The bread was by far the best part. They had a BOGO coupon in the pamphlet you get by the trolley ticket sales people so that was nice. read more
