Very very long wait on a weekend. They don't do reservations or call aheads. We arrived at 9:45 and had to wait about an hour for our table for 6 people. The staff were very kind and attentive to our needs like coffee refills! I like that the coffees had unlimited refills (iced coffee and a hot drip coffee were the coffee options). I ordered the breakfast burrito with the additions of the pork sausage, red chili sauce, cheese, and scallions. It was very good! It did come out a bit cold so I think it may have been sitting for a little while on the window. My friend's Zada Jane's stack was pretty good as well. The sweet potatoes were cooked perfectly and the frittata hit the spot. I wasn't a fan of the peach butter for the biscuit but we definitely could've asked for a different type of butter but chose not to. I don't think the food was worth waiting one hour to just be seated, but it was a good breakfast :)
I'll start by saying this is probably the best breakfast burrito I've ever had. The parking lot is tinyyyy. The restaurant is tinyyyyy. St. Augustine is a busy place. Therefore, this gets a long wait for breakfast/brunch. It's hard to get a parking spot but there's free parking across the street. They have a big waiting area next to the restaurant which is definitely needed as we ended up waiting like 45 minutes around 9:30 am on a Saturday. The food was definitely worth the wait though. I got the burrito smothered with sauce and cheese and the flavor was fantastic. Flavorful but not super spicy or anything. It's also HUGE. Highly recommend. Service is a little questionable, if it was quicker they could probably help with their long wait. It was hard to flag down our girl when we needed something & it took ages to get to check.
We drove 2 hours from Orlando to try this place!!! It was worth the trip. All the food was great but the biscuits- OMG!!!! The peach butter made them even more amazing. The service was great as well. I recommend you come early as they are busy and close at 2:00pm.

Stopped into Blue Hen for breakfast before exploring downtown St. Augustine and I was so glad I did! The restaurant itself is very unique and inviting. The calm and friendly atmosphere certainly reflects the staff and management - as everyone was extremely kind, helpful, and welcoming. For food, my wife and I got a bit carried away but it was worth it! I ended up ordering their 2 chicken biscuit breakfast with a side of eggs and cheese grits while my wife got their breakfast burrito. We thought we were going to stop there but we couldn't pass up the opportunity to try their pumpkin pancakes - so we ordered two of those as well. The portions sizes were perfect and definitely worth the cost! Literally we finished everything and it kept us full throughout the rest of the day until dinner. And as for the taste -Everything was delicious! The chicken biscuits were crispy yet juicy and were served with a peach butter cream that was mouthwatering. My wife said her breakfast burrito was jam packed with toppings and was one of the best breakfast burrito she has had. And finally the pumpkin pancakes- AMAZING! If we still had room we would have ordered more. If you're visiting St. Augustine or even if you're a local, I would definitely recommend adding Blue Hen to your list of places to stop into to grab a bit. Trust me it's worth it!
The best breakfast we had while staying a week in st. Augustine. Worth the wait! I would drink a gallon of their gravy if I could. Biscuits were so fluffy and the peach butter made my eyes pop out my head they were so tasty. Our server was the kindest person you'd ever meet. Great vibes. Check their hours before you come.
This is a very popular place due to the delicious food, reasonable prices and excellent service. I believe it's worth the wait. The space is comfortable without being overcrowded. The food is made from scratch so it's not quick but the friendly staff and a delicious pint guava mimosa help to pass the time away. The plates are huge so my friend and I shared a plate of corned beef hash & eggs, which was not your usual greasy hash. It was made with chunks of potato, onion, peppers and corned beef. They have some daily specials for lunch as well. Just be forewarned that if you sit outside to wait for a table, the mosquitoes are also feasting.

The food is excellent, elevated breakfast fare. The service is a team effort (my coffee as never empty) and impeccable. The atmosphere is casual and unique...part diner, part family breakfast. The pumpkin pancake was fantastic. The butter unique and syrup, delicious. The guacamole slices atop my vegetable Omlette was a genius accent, the Omlette itself perfect, the biscuit fantastic, and best of all was their potatoes. Since we were at the bar, I had to look into the kitchen to see if I could figure out what made these so good. They're not pre-cooked or baked potatoes, put in whole, fried to the exact right amount and seasoned perfectly. We'll be back. I highly recommend you try The Blue Hen Cafe on your next visit to Saint Augustine.

Very hot outside and drinking coffee we were brought inside. We asked for water and the cups with ice were kid sizes. They were busy so we had to wait for a refill. They should invest on a pitcher of water for the table. The food was brought very quickly. All the waitresses were young and beautiful there and did a great job. The pumpkin pancakes were good but not awesome. The grits and burrito were awesome. The breakfast sandwich was just okay. We have been coming for years still the best spot in my opinion. Place was very clean and when we left it was a 50 minute wait around 10am on a Saturday.
New location, same vibe. Great food prepared and served by people that enjoy each other and keeping customers happy. Blue Hen corn beef hash is so much better than the sludgy stuff most places pass off for it!
My wife and I were extremely pleased that we stopped in to the blue Hen. The staff at this restaurant have amazing customer service. I had the blue crab quiche and it exceeded my expectations. I thoroughly enjoyed this meal. My wife and I will be back.

Killing time between Jacksonville and Daytona after the 24 Hours of Daytona race. Needed a place for lunch and this did not disappoint. We arrived at the cusp of their breakfast shifting to lunch menu, and we opted for the lunch menu as it still had some solid breakfast options. Being from CA I had to try the fried green tomatoes and they did not disappoint with the homemade ranch and black bean salsa. The blue crab quiche was a perfect flavor (a little ocean with the eggs) and the crust was a solid base. Paired with the biscuit, potatoes, and greens, this was one of my favorite meals of our trip.

First time at The Blue Hen on West King St. it's larger and more parking, but still Ol' Florida. It's rusty, and charming and is privately owned. Once we got a spot in the parking lot, we were told a 20 minute wait. It was Sunday Morning about Noon. It wound up to be a 10 minute wait. Our waitress got the drink orders. The menu is interesting, and we're pleased with our choices. The Corn Beef Hash had chunks, rather than ground hash, while very good, he preferred the latter. The Datil Burger was excellent. I asked for the sauce on the side. Without asking we got refills on the coffee. If there is a long wait, I saw a few interesting shops to browse in. We will definitely return. read more

such fantastic food!!! we did have to wait like 15 minutes but honestly really worth it. the place was clean so were the bathrooms and the waitresses very nice. most importantly the food was above and beyond. i ordered a breakfast burrito along with one pumpkin spice pancake. the breakfast burrito was MASSIVE and the pumpkin spice pancake was to die for! only thing i wish was that they had more food options on the menu. overall try this place out!!! read more

This was my first introduction to true Floridian Southern food. We had a pretty huge group of 13, so make a note of that if you come for brunch, you will have to wait. We didn't mind though as there was a little market across the street for us to walk and get coffee at. We waited at least 40min. I'm not big on heavy food and wasn't sure if I would enjoy anything, but I do love shrimp. I ordered the shrimp and grits with collard greens and was NOT disappointed. Oh my goodness. It was amazing! The texture of the grits was nice and the shrimps were so big and that SAUCE. I'm drooling just thinking about it. My bf got the Yardbird and he killed it. The chicken was super crispy and juicy on the inside. It was such a great meal. If I'm ever back in the St. Augustine area, I'd love to come back here. read more

10/10! Came in at 10ish on a Saturday, no reservation. Our party of two was sat in +/- 15 minutes. Everyone we met was so sweet and friendly! Food was delicious and fair priced-- Their homemade peach butter is incredible! It has become a staple for whenever I visit St Augustine. read more

This was a find - popular with locals, the staff is friendly, and there is a lovely patio to wait in if it's busy. The decor is kitschy, with mismatched Corelle cups from Gramma's age. A quaint, clean, organized, welcoming cafe. The soul of this eatery is its staff. From the people clearing tables to those that greet you with a warm smile when you enter. My boyfriend and I decided to stop by and try this eclectic brunch spot on a booming Saturday morning. We waited one hour to get seated and let me tell you - it was worth it!! Our waitress was a complete sweetheart and helped us decide what to order. I went with the Blue Crab Quiche and my boyfriend went with the Kings French Toast with bacon and added a side of eggs. Both of our dishes were delicious. The quiche was not shy with the blue crab which made me happy to know it wasn't a tiny bit of crab. The biscuit was out of this world and the best I've had in my life to date - crumbly, buttery in each bite, and that peach butter - GIRL. The French Toast was yummy and unique with the peanut butter and banana. The table we sat at was surrounded by cute knickknacks of chickens or hens and quilts, it felt super homey and matched the vibe. I can't wait to try this place again when I'm in town! read more

Wrapped up a fantastic weekend in St. Augustine with breakfast at Blue Hen Café. The last time I visited them was at their old location, and I really love the new interior--it has much more space. The food was delicious! I wanted to try something different, but the Chicken & Biscuits kept calling my name. Their biscuits are incredibly tasty, and the chicken was served hot and crispy. It had great flavor as well. I ordered my eggs scrambled with cheese, and they were cooked to perfection. Service was top-notch even with the restaurant being busy. If you haven't visited Blue Hen Café then you're missing out. read more

Wonderful experience. Staff was very welcoming first thing in the morning as soon as they opened. Waiter was attentive and professional. Great insight on their food. I ordered the breakfast burrito with red chile, cheddar and scallions on top. It was delicious. Best friend ordered the corn beef hash and he really enjoyed it. Also their ice coffee with refills is da bomb. Ice is actually frozen coffee. I would highly recommend this place. read more

A local recommended this spot on our walk through town. Went for lunch and there was a short wait. Go inside to get in line then there are some nice benches outside to enjoy the weather while you wait. There were options at a variety of price points. There were three or so vegetarian options (outside of sweet breakfast). The wrap was pretty good. My husband got the salad and it was amazing. Next time I'm getting a salad. read more

There is a tiny lot across the street that fills up quickly, other than that, whatever you can find on the street.

They are a friendly location for sure and I thought they added some seating out front. But I'm sure they will accommodate. Nice place! Feels like you're home.
