This diner between A1A and St. Augustine Beach is a great place to stop for breakfast. We were the first customers of the day and our wait staff greeted us with a big smile and let us pick out a table. The whole place is decorated with car and travel kitsch, such as a wall of hubcaps, booths shaped like cars, and coffee cups labeled "motor oil." Two of us had The Wreck: grits or potatoes topped by scrambled eggs, your choice of meat, and cheese. Our daughter had the massive single pancake and sausage; it must be a Florida thing to put the chocolate chips on the batter instead of sprinkling them on top (no complaints from us!). Everything was tasty and we were glad we could enjoy fresh air wafting in from the garage door style windows before heading to the airport.

My wife and split the paddy wagon and the New Yorker. Both were delicious. The Paddy Wagon has a beautiful bacon jam. The New Yorker was an awesome tasting Reuben! Hands down as good as anything and probably better than NY because it's here in Florida! Will visit again

    Neat car themed restaurant.

What a nostalgic car 60s/ 70s garage! Takes you back to what I'd say watching Greece! We were seated immediately and the seat was a car! How's that for some pull-up service sitting inside?' The menu is simple and not busy. Our food came out fresh and hot! You can tell the chef took his time and plated it well. The entire inside is clean.

anytime i visit some place new, i'm eager to dine where the locals eat. so when i saw OFS, i knew that's where i'd be having breakfast. Tristan is fantastic and The Bentley was incredible!

Large portions, beautiful plates and silverware, and quaint, cozy ambiance in America's oldest city. Fast forward to Saturday the 14th, and I'm back again with family visiting from out of the country. The food was good, but the vibe was a bit different. Started with chips & salsa - good, but hardly any chips. We had 3/4 of a dish of salsa remaining after finishing the chips, and we were told that we would have to pay for a refill of chips. Very sad! We also ordered two taco platters, and three chicken quesadilla platters. Food was good, but the side portions (beans and rice) were very small, and served in tiny plastic cups. The plates and silverware were replaced with cardboard plates/trays and plastic cutlery. Although the food was good, the presentation was disappointing. Our waitress did a good job, so kudos to her! $120+ before a tip - a couple more chips would have been nice, and real plates and silver would have been amazing.....just saying.

I got the lamb birria bowl and it was so tender ans well seasoned. Their rice bowls are very much like chipotle style in components but fresher. Avocadoes are fresh and tasty and they have a bunch of different kinds of hot sauces and salsa on the side. Plaintain chips are good but I wish they were warm/hot. my friends like their beef burritos a lot too. Their ranking was lamb then beef, pork, chicken. Love that the menu is quite simple and easy to order. The staffs are so friendly and helpful and location is right across the Castillo de San Marcos fortress. Would def come back.

A local treasure that deserved to come back…read more Whenever I'm traveling, I try to avoid the obvious tourist spots and look for where the locals actually eat. Those are usually the meals I remember long after the vacation is over. The challenge is that sometimes you find one of those places and quickly realize you're not part of the club. The Wheel is the exact opposite! Every single time we've visited, we're greeted with a warm, genuine "Welcome in!" followed by "You can sit anywhere." It seems like such a small thing, but it immediately makes you feel like you're supposed to be there. Whether it's your first visit or your fiftieth, everyone receives the same warm welcome. My husband and I live about 30 minutes south of St. Augustine, and anytime we're in town around lunchtime, The Wheel is one of our favorite stops. We've been back multiple times since they reopened, and the consistency has been every bit as impressive as the food. For those of us who grew up here, though, this place is something even more special. Longtime locals probably remember The Cheese Wheel. Back in high school, once you finally got your driver's license and escaped the school bus, this was one of the lunch spots. Their chicken salad had a loyal following, and if you got there too late, there was a good chance they had already sold out. When The Cheese Wheel eventually closed, it felt like a little piece of St. Augustine disappeared. Thankfully, members of the original Cheese Wheel family brought those recipes back as The Wheel, carrying on the traditions and recipes they learned from the original owners. It may not be the same building, but one bite instantly took me back. Our first visit after they reopened was in February 2025. The line stretched outside the door, and it was obvious St. Augustine had been waiting for this day. You could tell they were busy, but you couldn't tell they were overwhelmed. One employee stayed at the entrance the entire time, greeting guests, explaining the process, keeping an eye on open tables, and directing people as seats became available. They handled the rush with organization, efficiency, and a smile. That first visit showed us they could handle opening-day crowds. Every visit since has shown us that's simply who they are. Our go-to order has always been the Tuna Ryder with an order of shoestring fries. This visit we weren't overly hungry, and we had dinner plans later, so we decided to split one. The kitchen divided it perfectly before bringing it to the table. Everything stayed neatly tucked inside the pita instead of falling apart, the tuna salad was dressed just right without being overloaded with mayo, and every bite had that same fresh, balanced flavor we've come to expect. They even surprised us with two full pickle spears instead of splitting one in half. It's a tiny detail, but it's exactly those little touches that leave a lasting impression. The shoestring fries arrived hot, crispy, and every bit as addictive as we remembered. The dining room is clean, casual, and comfortable. Nothing pretentious. Just good food, friendly people, and an atmosphere that invites you to slow down and enjoy lunch. After multiple visits over the past year and a half, that's what stands out most. Great food brings you in once. Consistency is what keeps you coming back. If you're spending the day at the beach, stop here first. If you're catching a movie next door, it's the perfect lunch spot beforehand. And if you're visiting St. Augustine and trying to avoid overpriced tourist restaurants serving food you could get anywhere else, put The Wheel on your list. Some restaurants simply serve lunch. Others become part of the memories you make in a town. The Wheel has managed to do both. We'll continue stopping in anytime we're in St. Augustine, and we'll keep recommending it to anyone who asks where the locals eat. If you're looking for where the locals eat, you've found it.
