While doing a day trip to Saint Augustine and looking for a place to grab breakfast this themed cafe caught my eye, the outside definitely will grab anyone's attention with it brightly painted exterior so we decided to pull into the parking lot, it's a small parking lot and relatively tight so I highly recommend backing into your space and pray someone doesn't dink your vehicle while exiting theirs. The inside is just as impressive with it's "oil and gas" theme, it's rather small but we were able to get seated without a wait even though it was nearly filled. The staff here was very inviting and attentive, the menu is also themed and fairly priced, we ordered "The Ford Galaxie" two eggs your way, a choice of meats, choice of toast or biscuits and home fries or grit - although the winner here in my opinion is the coffee it's delicious, strong and robust. Unfortunately everything here wasn't perfect the "West Creek Whipped Spread Butter Blend" is an abomination, it ruined everything we put it on, my bad for not asking for real butter after applying it to my toast, my grits and the English Muffin we ordered, it was inedible to the point we left everything on the plate this stuff touched it wasn't refrigerated as suggested on the label I'm guessing. I usually eat only real butter so what was I thinking - so my dilemma is how do I review this place fairly based on that stuff and the fact it ruined our food since we loved everything else. Well I guess they'll get three stars for now and I'll return and maybe bring my own butter because this place is a place you really want to love... read more

I was at the beach for a couple of hours this morning and wanted to get some lunch afterwards. I had driven past this place many times in the past and the outside looked really bright and fun so I decided to give it a try. The outdoor painting said it was one of top 25 places in the country for burgers so I felt like I had to try a burger. The menu has about ten different burgers to choose from, as well as other sandwiches , salads, and even about ten breakfast items. All of the names of the items have a car reference since the restaurant was previously a filling station. The decor also has a car ambiance. I chose the mustang burger. It had American cheese, bacon, bbq sauce and an onion ring on it. It was very tasty. Side options were fries, coleslaw, sweet potato fries or onion rings. I went with the onion rings. Most lackluster service ever! The waitress had zero enthusiasm. No greeting, smile, etc. she didn't Bri g creamer for coffee. I had to get it myself. She slapped the check on table without a thank you and didn't clear any dishes off the table. The food was disgusting. Inlet bland. Grits sticky& clumpy. The breakfast tortilla was dripping with grease. On scale 1-10, food was a 1. Service didn't even make the scale. I don't know why the waitress even works there. I'd fire her. Maybe she's related to owner. Before we left, I should have warned the other customers that had come in not to eat there. read more

This diner between A1A and St. Augustine Beach is a great place to stop for breakfast. We were the first customers of the day and our wait staff greeted us with a big smile and let us pick out a table. The whole place is decorated with car and travel kitsch, such as a wall of hubcaps, booths shaped like cars, and coffee cups labeled "motor oil." Two of us had The Wreck: grits or potatoes topped by scrambled eggs, your choice of meat, and cheese. Our daughter had the massive single pancake and sausage; it must be a Florida thing to put the chocolate chips on the batter instead of sprinkling them on top (no complaints from us!). Everything was tasty and we were glad we could enjoy fresh air wafting in from the garage door style windows before heading to the airport. read more

I ordered the Saab and I really liked it (Swiss, mushroom, onion, pretzel bun) Prices are a tad high, but given the beach location it's understandable. I want to cone back and try breakfast. We came out of the old town area to find a place that was still serving breakfast and we discovered this one. The meals had a variety of fun car-related names, accompanied by a fun atmosphere and good portion sizes. It's definitely eclectic, with car related memorabilia everywhere. Even some of the tables are made of old seats taken out of vehicles. Since this place is a little away from the hustle and bustle, it might get overlooked, but if you happen to stop by, it's a good option for breakfast. Too bad we weren't available for lunch to try one of their burgers which they boast to be top 10 in the country (based on some magazine, I'm assuming). read more

My wife and split the paddy wagon and the New Yorker. Both were delicious. The Paddy Wagon has a beautiful bacon jam. The New Yorker was an awesome tasting Reuben! Hands down as good as anything and probably better than NY because it's here in Florida! Will visit again read more

I REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted to give Obi's a good review. Really I did. The food was delicious. Eggs, french toast, bacon, egg and sausage sandwich, grits. The place is super cute, with an old time diner decor. The service was EXCELLENT BUT I used the bathroom and saw a roach. 1st strike that I was going to just talk to the staff until I saw one of the associates go to his car and put on deodorant. Cool decor, food was very mediocre. We had breakfast and all the food was very overcooked and dry. Bacon looked like it was from the day before and rewarmed because it was black. Waitress dressed in workout wear so maybe not the best place for families if you don't like that for your kids. read more

I came across this place after taking a boardwalk to the one of the side streets off of St. Augustine Beach. Obi's is on the Boulevard about a half mile south of the Pier parking lot. Obi's looked cute and I noted that I wanted to eat there some time. This weekend my kids were in town so after catching a Saturday morning sunrise I suggested we walk to Obi's. We had to wait about 15 minutes for it to open but it was worth it. It's a cute little car-themed restaurant. The four of us ordered gravy and biscuits and the peanut butter banana pancake special to share. It was just the right amount to eat and it was delicious. I'll definitely be back. read more

The place was busy but still plenty of parking. One party of 6 walked over from the Courtyard across the street. Good experience- it's a five. (Only suggestion I like a toasted bun). When all the other breakfast spots on this strip had long waits and lines on Sunday morning, we were only about a 5 minute wait for a table at Obi's. Despite only having two servers on staff that day who were very overwhelmed with needing to serve, host, bus tables, and cash out guests, we still managed to have a lovely experience- even as the people around us seemed to have less grace for the hard work these two servers were putting into taking care of everyone. The food came out hot, fresh, correct to order, and the portions were more than plenty to fil' er up, or have more for later. It's a small town fun and kitschy spot that deserves a lot of love. read more

Was staying across the street & got breakfast the day we left. Such a cool environment with crazy car decor, even using some car parts like a back seat as furniture for a table. The menu is great with every entree named after a car & even though they're pretty classic breakfast platters, the food was phenomenal! The service is pretty quick & friendly and the restaurant gives a small town, cozy vibe with its small interior. Came early on a Sunday morning and it started to fill up quick! My wife is an aficionado of hamburgers and sandwiches, so when I researched places to try during our anniversary trip to St. Augustine, this was at the top of my list. Sadly, I can't say either of us walked away with any high regard for the place... The location itself has enough paraphernalia hanging from the walls and on display on the floor to excite any car guy, or car gal. They even have a Fram oil filter subbing as a light from the ceiling (no kidding). This is about as good as it got for us. The food we ordered, a Philly sandwich with au jus was bland (even with the au jus)5 and their Mustang burger was okay (a tad undercooked from the medium-well requested). But the real kicker was the service. I'm not sure what was the deal, but the waitress appeared to be having a tough day. She tried to make it up in small ways, but it was still painfully obvious through her slightly annoyed attitude. (I got the feeling she wanted to be anywhere on the planet but there.) The other kicker - a pet peeve of mine - was that she didn't write down our order. Which is all fine and good, except I have had zero luck with waiters or waitresses memorizing orders. Today was no different. Though she got our dinner choices correct, she forgot to put in our appetizer order. Ah well, we really didn't need it anyway... To put the icing on this cake, their A/C failed on them, or at least partially. The dining area was opened to the elements making for a warm indoor dining experience.
