My family and I came here on Christmas Eve for brunch and the restaurant is decorated so beautifully for Christmas! The hostess gave us a hard time getting seated because the restaurant is small and we were a group of five and they didn't have tables that seated five. We asked if we could just put two tables together because there was no one waiting to be seated behind us and there was plenty of outside seating. She's wasn't the friendliest but she eventually put the tables together for us which we really appreciated. Our food and our server were amazing though! Our server was super nice and attentive. We ordered the caperse Benedict, Hemingway Benedict, breakfast bowl, calamari, breakfast burrito, and the pancakes for everyone to share. I had the reubon sandwich which was the best thing anyone ordered but was extremely greasy. Everyone loves bacon so when my daughter offered me a piece I accepted. It was not good at all. This is the restaurant at our hotel that we stayed in for two days. You get free breakfast here when you stay at the hotel. It is a very quaint small restaurant with a very old world charm and was decorated for the Christmas season when we visited. Plenty of outdoor seating with lots of dogs . First off, the location for this restaurant is really fun, as close as you can get in st Augustine to the waterfront and a nice view out the window. The food was fairly nice and came out fairly quickly, I had selected the Ham, Brie and Apple Grilled Cheese which is an interesting idea and on paper is unique, but the flavors all complement each other. I have to mark this down a little bit because there was a very small amount of brie in my sandwich, and for something that is referred to as a 'grilled cheese' this seemed a little disappointing. If it was more brie in it would certainly be a much higher review because the parts that did have it in were very tasty. The waffle was fresh and tasty, but for the price could have done with this side of bacon or home fries or at least a piece of toast or two. I was able to substitute my side for one on the breakfast menu, which was appreciated and the home fries were nicely seasoned. Our server was very polite and friendly, but the service was pretty slow at times, and as we were the only table and sat outside in the heat we were hoping for a water refill a little bit more than we did, as it was multiple times empty for long periods. Nothing would specifically put us off from returning and we did enjoy our experience overall, but the price is certainly for the view as opposed to anything else, as our food was more expensive than similar options around the town. read more

Well...I stayed at the Inn so it was a free breakfast...or $15.00. I got the Hash and eggs. The hollandaise sauce was so thick I thought they might have given me a cheese sauce instead. The Hash was ok...though it had a slight burnt taste to it. In the end I paid $3.00. So it wasn't all that bad and better than the free breakfast you get at most hotels. A 5 star view..... That's all unfortunately. We my wife and I live in St. Augustine and are always on the lookout for a great local spot for our weekly morning date. We arrived around 9am and were able to get a table without waiting. The gentleman who sat us was pleasant and did a good job. He doubled as our server. We asked him for menu recommendations and ordered based off his advice. Let's talk about the food. Simply put it was awful. Here's why My wife ordered "the standard " scrambled eggs with wheat toast, bacon and home fries. The only item that was prepared correctly was the toast. The scrambled eggs were laughable, literally brown from being on the griddle, like the cook was doing something else besides cooking the food and forgot about them. Honestly among the worst I have seen. Bacon was between crunchy and soft like the consistency of thin cardboard and the home fries were absolutely saturated with grease. My wife picked at it but only ate the toast. I ordered the hash with over medium eggs per the recommendation of our server. Same greasy nasty potatoes and finger nail size pieces of fatty grisly corned beef. It's served in a bowl (strange choice) that made the portion size seem small. The grease from the meat and potatoes pooled up on the bottom of the bowl making a 3rd of the breakfast inedible. The over medium eggs I ordered were burnt to a crisp. No runny yolk, and the hollandaise sauce came in the side in a plastic cup.... YUCK. Our server saw that we hardly touched our food, didn't ask if things were ok, just took the plates and scraped them into the bus tub so the kitchen didn't have to be held accountable for serving heinous food. No refills on coffee , water, didn't come to check on us once. Not a care in the world. As a side note we walked by the restaurant again on our way to our car. Almost an hour later our trash was still sitting there on our table. This place was almost empty, what excuse could there possibly be for any of this to have happened? What a mess! There are lots of lovely spots to eat in St. Augustine find a different one. read more

I wanted to write this review, because people need to be forewarned. Currently many restaurants are getting busy again and this is one of them that are understaffed thanks to Covid. With that said they won't modify your order even if it's a small simple request. Also... This is not really a brunch place, just breakfast, because lunch menu goes into effect at 11am-3pm. I say that because we did not have to wait and were able to get indoor seating (to beat the heat with some air conditioning). For St. Augustine being a very touristy location we were very pleased with the pricing and the portion sizes. There was a generous serving of French fries on the side that neither of us could finish. Plus the menu indicated if you posted on social media and showed your server, you could get 10% off so we posted to Facebook/IG. Looking for a good classic breakfast? This place hit the mark! We were staying right around the corner at the Inn on Charlotte St.. The wait was not long. The staff were attentive and the waiter (Hunter) was awesome. The restaurant sits across from the Mantanzas River and the view is great. I had the Classic Benedict - Toasted english muffins, seared ham poached eggs topped with hollandaise. My wife had the Standard - Two eggs your way, choice of smoked applewood bacon or maple sausage patties accompanied with home fries or toast. It was very good! As for parking, you may have to park across the street at the Fort Matanzas parking or one of the city parking lots in the historic area. The attire is casual. It's a great place for family, couples having a breakaway together, business meetings, or if you're just visiting the historic city, etc. I recommend this cafe restaurant. Ask for the waiter Hunter. We came here today for breakfast, we came in the back way and got seated quickly by the host. Once seated we didn't see our server for about 15 minutes and when we did see him he was on his way to greet another table until he realized we were sitting there. He quickly grabbed our order. A table that came in after us got there drinks first (no biggie) until it took 10-12 minutes to get our coffee and water. The other table then proceeded to get there food before us and almost finish before we got ours. And then the server only checked once and left so quickly that I wasn't able to ask for salt for my eggs. We then waved him down for the check and that was the most I saw him throughout my entire time there. Besides that the food was okay. I asked for crispy bacon and it wasn't. The French toast does not come with any sides so I ordered the eggs and bacon. It's in a nice area though and I feel as if I had another server i would've probably had a better experience. read more

I had the caprese eggs Benedict and it was AMAZING!! Such a unique dish. There were too many delicious martinis to choose from, which was a great problem to have! I settled on the cucumber martini, refreshing and strong. I ended up dragging my boyfriend there later to get the After Eight martini, and I'm very glad I did because it was the perfect nightcap. The service was friendly, and overall it felt like they were taking proper safety precautions. The one thing I didn't like was how close together the tables were, but otherwise it felt fine. This place is very cute and old and right near the water. Bloody Mary's were very good, but I wasn't very into the breakfast I got. I asked for over medium eggs and they were over easy which normally happens to me at breakfast places but the eggs were covered in butter too. It was supposed to come with hashbrowns bacon and toast I gave the bacon to my boyfriend. The breakfast potatoes I received only about five potatoes which was disappointing. The blackened shrimp were much better than the Reuben. The manager needs to bring in a cleaning crew to scrub the entire place down, top to bottom. The tabletops on the covered porch were not clean, to say the least. We wiped our table with a wet rag and it was shockingly dirty. So I can't even really share how the food would have been. I always love sharing great experiences as I do my best to never give negative feedback. But I was very upset with how I was treated here. My experience starts at the front. Standing there waiting to be acknowledged. The hostess they have at the front needs to learn how to properly greet people and share with them the wait times. We were ignored for minutes by the hostess until she told us to step back and wait in another spot. There is a way to talk to customers...that is not acceptable. Another gentleman came up to the couple in front of us to share about the wait time. Again, never acknowledging us or even looking in our direction. Went for Sunday brunch. Sat on the inside bar with Jake as our bartender, once we sat down we were told that St. Augustine City Officials have PROHIBITED LIQUOR SALES UNTIL 1 pm on Sundays. Which is Astonishing to anyone I've spoken to. This is a tourist town. Especially, weekend warriors. I'm happy to sign a petition if you'll avail one to guests on Sundays. Despite the stipulations, Jake was amazing and fun and he kept the Poinsettias flowing. I would have given 5 Stars had it not been for the city's stipulations. I truly hope the city amends this law. They are only hurting the pockets of the residents that serve the people that bring money into the city. As a bartender in a destination town, I know that Sunday brunch is good money during the off season.
