I stopped by Connolly's this morning for breakfast and was thoroughly impressed. I'm just visiting the area, so I've never been. My server, Robin, was super sweet and confirmed that my decision to order the lobster benedict was indeed a good one. In addition to the options on the menu, they also had a handful of specials available. The lobster benedict was excellent. The sauce was rich but not overwhelming and just overall delicious. I love this family run, small beach town breakfast and brunch restaurant. My favorite part is how all the young, local kids work there. The owners really embrace the local kids and supply many of them their first chance at their first job. I always get breakfast when I go- but the Mimosas instantly convert the breakfast into brunch. We tried this cute breakfast spot in St Augustine and it was very good. Prices were reasonable and the staff was very friendly. It is a bright place on the inside with a lot of choices on the menu. We tried the eggs Benedict, create your own omelette, veggie omelette, and a breakfast combo with bacon. Tea and juice were very reasonably priced as well, and all the food portions were quite large. We were heading to the St Augustine Lighthouse and we were full for several hours while there. This is a great spot for breakfast or brunch. Had to check out of our beach condo by 10 am so we decided to grab breakfast here on our way out of town. Inside had cute diner decor with outside seating available as well. Our party of seven was seated immediately. Staff were friendly and the service was quick. Breakfast menu had both sweet and savory choices. My fiancé has celiac, and our server was incredibly open and patient with all our questions about cross-contamination. They confirmed that they use separate equipment and have a dedicated prep space for gluten-free orders. My fiancé had no symptoms or stomach aches afterward...which is a huge relief! (Of course, every celiac is different, so still proceed with your own caution, my fellow celiac friends!) The food itself was delicious, though I'm taking off one star only because the portions were on the smaller side and a bit pricey. Still, it was such a nice experience to sit beside my partner and both enjoy the same meal without worrying about gluten contamination. Did ownership change? The last two times I have gone the food is awful. I went for lunch a couple of months ago and the burgers were disgusting. the fries, which were once outstanding, were cold and soggy. I went for breakfast today and again the food was awful. The bacon was paper thin and only two small strips. The eggs were over cooked. The tomato slices were so thin they were essentially tasteless. Coffee was okay. Also, a man was at the hostess stand. He appeared to be in charge. He was not friendly and yelled at his staff. Sad to see such a decline. read more

I just ate here for the first time as we are visiting the area. We were seated at an uncomfortable high top table and waited around 20 minutes for a server to come to our table. The hostess even came by and said someone will come soon. Another couple was seated after us and was waited on while we still waited until I got up and told the hostess. The food was not that good. I order a sandwich on a biscuit and the biscuit was very small and dry so the sandwich looked like for a child. Grits were decent. Service was just ok. Excellent service, food was a miss today due to staff shortage. It was a fun and enjoyable environment. Our food took about 50 minutes to come out of the kitchen. We waited and asked the server several times. I believe there was 1 cook today and others called out of work. The restaurant was filled with lots of people enjoying St. Patrick's Day here. There was live music and all the staff were dressed to celebrate. Unfortunately, half the food on each plate was overcooked or burnt. The other half was good. Chris took care of us and did a great job of helping us to navigate the menu and making sure we had our drinks refilled. It was light, fluffy, and just the perfect amount of sweet, nothing over powering. I got it with bacon, let me just say I am not a bacon fan, this bacon was crispy and good I left nothing but the memory behind. I also did I side of breakfast potatoes and that was great! A great little breakfast joint... Stopped in because it was within walking distance of the AirBnB we were staying at - what a wonderful surprise. Plenty of seating inside and out, we choose to stay inside after a friendly greet at the door. Service was exceptional, the young man that waited on us was so attentive and made sure our drinks were bottomless. For meals we had an eclectic mix of their egg combo choice, pancakes, waffles, egg and lobster Benedict - all of it was served hot and fresh. And speaking g of hot - they served the hottest coffee I have ever had at any establishment, a big plus in my establishment. Good place for a quick home cooked breakfast! It was busy on a Sunday morning around 10 am but we did not have to wait to be seated. I don't like typical breakfast food of eggs and pancakes and was looking for oatmeal or yogurt or something like that, which is not on the menu. I had a BLT and potatoes and it was great. It was not a huge helping of either but certainly enough and it was truly good. We will come here again, service is good and the place is very clean. They do breakfast well. The buttermilk pancakes were fluffy and very tasty. Served with homemade whipped cream and real butter on the side. Yummy. My husband got the combo breakfast and switched out the pancakes for French toast. No problem with substituting the pancakes for the French toast, just a $1 up charge (we'll worth it...the French toast was delicious). His eggs were scrambled and quite good; much better than his experience from another restaurant yesterday morning. Our bacon was cooked to perfection, not burnt but crispy. Definitely will go back. Meh. With all of the breakfast joints in St. Augustine, you need to bring your "A" game. However, this place gets a "C" from me. The staff was nice. The mimosas were lacking. I don't know if they have the young people making the mimosas but you could not taste the champagne. I could tell by the color as they were bringing them out that they were lacking. The syrup they put in them is overpowering as well. I had the Lobster Benedict and for lack of a better word, gross. The potatoes were luke warm.The sauce was so watery and it needed a hollandaise sauce. Also I thought it was a given that all restaurants in St. Auggy had a Datil sauce but this one did not.My hubby had the waffle with a few berries thrown on it. The bacon was rubbery and undercooked, and it was cheap quality meat. The pancakes were rubbery. For the avocado toast, they use cheap store bought guac spread instead of anything resembling real avocado. And my wife ordered the bananas foster French toast. It was awful. It had this gelatinous brown sugar crunch all over it. It was drowned in brown sugar which the kitchen failed to properly melt into a brown sugar sauce, so it was hard clumps of brown sugar - covered in it. Not a good experience at all. read more
