My partner and I were visiting St. Augustine for the weekend and wanted brunch. The Spot was close by, and it was a good experience. I ordered a chocolate chip waffle and biscuit and gravy, while he ordered the strawberry French toast. Our meals were filling. (I was only slightly disappointed by the small amount of chocolate chips in my waffle.) This is definitely a place frequented by locals, with a very mom-and-pop vibe. We've passed by several times and finally decided to stop in for a visit. When you arrive, you can seat yourself which was convenient. I ordered the pork chop and eggs special, but was disappointed when the food arrived. The pork chop was surprisingly small, more like a kid's portion. Ordered lunch to go. Decided on the pick 2, Ybor salad and Cuban sandwich for $13.59. I get that its a half salad and half sandwich but for the price, i expected a little bit more. Taste/Flavor was just OK. Person at the counter was extremely friendly and polite. Area was quiet...diner style maybe 15 tables and a bar area. Only 2 other customers in the restaurant at the time. This was my first visit and went here with my mom a week ago and had breakfast. We both had coffee, she had biscuits and gravy and said they were some of the best she'd ever had. I had the veggie omelette which was delicious but a little bit overcooked/golden, and the hash browns were chewy and not fresh. But overall, I would go back and try again. read more

The biggest insult is that they charge me almost $7 for 2 very bad watered down weak coffees. I understand it gets busy at times but how long does it take to make a simple omelette? Service was perfect for me. I had the gravy and biscuits, eggs, and grits. All was decent. Biscuits were a little overcooked and hard. My only complaint is the gravy was bland and needed more pepper at minimum for more taste. I'll definitely be back and try a lunch item next time. read more

We were in town and I found The Spot on Yelp so we decided to check it out. It's a cute little mom and pop place with small town vibes that I loved. When we arrived there was a short wait and we opted for first available. We waited about ten minutes and were seated outside. The outdoor seating is right next to the highway so it was a little loud at times but overall totally fine. Our server seemed a little bit weeded, we had to ask for things more than once and I eventually stole what I needed from another table that left bc she forgot to bring it. Don't get me wrong, she was still good, she just seemed a little stressed or distracted. I got the coconut french toast which was INCREDIBLE! I didn't need syrup, I just ate it how it came. There was a slight savory aspect that paired so well with the sweetness of the coconut. It was SO good! My fiance got the BYO Omelette and I think he had a little bit of food envy, he said he thought about getting the french toast. Of course I gave him some. Overall the food was great and the service was decent but could have been a little better. Not bad enough to keep us from returning next time we're in town. I want more french toast! read more

First time at The Spot. Service was exactly as you would like it to being in this diner type restaurant. It is not fancy but the food is really good. I thought the chicken panini was really flavorful and my salad was excellent. I didn't care for the big blobs of ham and cheese and ended up chopping them up. My husband thought his Cuban sandwich was good. We want to go back to try some other items but it was a good solid 4 meal. read more

They offer breakfast and lunch with no dinner options. They have a big variety available like eggs and bacon, pancakes, sandwiches and more. The servers go non-stop. Its busy and for a good reason. Its good food at a very reasonable price. But as bussy as they are they still make sure that you are taken care of. Often checking on you and being sure to top off your coffee. It feels like a country dinner with pretty basic seating. That however is part of the experience. Well known by the locals, this eatery stays busy - but it's absolutely worth the wait! Consistent with both great food and great service! My son, my brother, and I decided to stop by Saturday after a day at the local gun range for a bite to eat. We took the last 2 parking spots, so they were busy - but we were seated quickly and were quickly treated by our waitress. After placing our orders we received our food pretty quickly. While we were walking to our table I noticed one of the other diners had a rider and it looked delicious - so I opted for the chicken salad rider sub the chips for fries and was not disappointed. Even though I joined the "clean plate club" I couldn't help but look a the pancakes on a nearby table (the size of a trash can lid) with a touch of food envy. Ok, so it has been a while since I did a review. This summer I am starting a blog on biscuits and gravy. So today my fiancée and I decided to enjoy the day in St Augustine. I made a post on 904Eats on facebook and asked for a place between Jax and Aug on HWY 1. I got The Spot Cafe. I ordered the southern comfort, biscuits, and gravy with chicken between them. Came with eggs and home-style potatoes. It was so good. When I start my biscuits and gravy blog (summer 2025). I will be sure to add this place. The biscuits were fluffy and most. I never ever would have stopped here if my daughter didn't suggest it for Saturday brunch. I'm glad she did, though! It doesn't look like much from the outside and she told me to close my eyes when I drove up! There was a 10 minute wait, which wasn't bad since we had first stopped at Cracker Barrel and they told us it was a 45 minute wait there! The place is actually very large with outdoor, back room, and bar seating in addition to the main dining area. Prices are very fair, the service is over the top great and the food was really good. I went there to eat on a Saturday the waitresses were less then friendly allot of drama with the crew. The plates are chipped and cups too. I saw none of the cooks using gloves and putting food on with there hands. The place in the back were the staff comes in and out and smoke is gross. I had the eggs home fries and bacon. The bacon was over done like it sat. I saw the Manger take butter tabs out of the trash and wiped them off and put it in a dish. They close around 2 and I've never seen the same employee's there. The waitress wasn't very pleasant and I dont think I'll return. The parking area is small. Ive also had the meatloaf and the breakfast wrap both average. You never see the owner he leaves his girlfriend to run the place and she's unprofessional and unpleasant. I've tried it thinking maybe it was a off day but nothing changed and the service is poor. Breakfast is my favorite meal and I'm surprised it took me this long to stop in at the Spot. It's easy to miss if you are driving 75 mph into St Augustine, (not me, just saying). It's right next to Blackwater to Blue Marina. If you've seen my other reviews on omelets, you know I insist on cooking the ingredients together (ahem Metro), and these guys do it right. I've had the western and it was terrific. The jailhouse grits is a favorite. Piles of meat and eggs over perfectly done grits... what's not to love?! In my experience here, the food was very good i had a BLT with added turkey, which was very good. my friend got the chicken and waffles. she said the chicken was kind of weird, and the breading for the fried chicken wasn't the best, just a little too salty. the service was fast, our server alyssa was kind and got us everything we needed almost immediately. i would recommend sitting inside although there was no seating inside. outside is shaded and not too bad in the heat, especially being in florida. overall a good experience. will be coming back. read more

Just ate there today with group of 6 first time ! I ordered the special fried catfish with two others ordering the same . Price was $12.99 ! Tasted very fishy! Other place I had fried catfish it was so good ! This one not so much ! Two friends ordered a black angus hamburger both said theirs were tasteless medium rare ! Also the bun for the hamburger was a lot bigger than the hamburger! Had to add salt to get any flavor ! My son got the Shepard pie and he didn't like it ! I tried a bite ! Tasted odd ! Was not that good ! Would not get any of what we all ate again ! Many people eating there so I'm sure other items are better ! If we go are in area we maybe would try another place !
