So just to start they want to add $2.50 to share. This is ridiculous to me since we are not asking for extra plates. I get a biscuit with my meal... my daughter was just adding a side of gravy and they said that didn't count for not sharing. I understand through the past 2 years the prices have raised crazy, but there are those of us that can not eat a full meal. Then a girl comes by asking us to add a banana or add a side of home fries!!?? What?? Y'all got your way of charging for more. Brought out one plate anyway and had to take a take out box. Friday morning Breakfast at The Spot. We have driven past this place and thought it should be checked out. We heard so many good reviews. Wife had a Denver scramble with home fries. I had two eggs over medium with home fries and sausage patties. They always seem busy - a full parking lot today was no exception The staff was friendly. Although it took a while to get that second cup of coffee. The food was ok. My eggs were cooked properly. Home fries a bit cold and with way to much seasoning The sausage patties (you get two) had a good taste and texture also could have been warmer. The rye toast was not very hot. I could not figure which side was buttered. So for me it's a 3. Maybe it's the cost that brings so many people into The Spot. Our breakfast for two was under $19.00. read more

This is a nice breakfast spot. The food is what is to be expected from a local diner. They have a ratio berry whipped butter that is unique. It was really good. You definitely taste the berry more than the datil. I got the Greek omelet which was yummy. The French toast my mom got was huge. They don't have a kids menu which is hard when you have a two year old who doesn't eat much. I hate having to spend so money for her to eat a quarter of the meal. We order the chocolate chip pancakes which were massive. A child's size portion of a silver dollar size would be perfect! But all around it was a good breakfast! read more

Not a welcoming place, especially if you're not a local. I arrived at 11:00 and was told breakfast was no longer being served. I was handed a limited lunch menu with very few options - water was not offered. I settled for a poorly presented chicken and ham sandwich with a piece of lettuce and what looked like a tomato. The chicken breast couldn't be cut with the plastic fork they provided and was virtually inedible. I was surprised and very disappointed that a local establishment would serve something like that to a paying customer. The establishment was not clean, and the service was poor at best. My wait to be served was delayed because of the servers meeting being held at the bar. If you want a nice breakfast, or lunch in a clean and reasonably run establishment, stay away from the SPOT. read more

Just a quick shout out to nice little family style breakfast and lunch 'spot'. Went on Saturday and decided to go back on Sunday. Just 10 minutes north of the St. Augustine tourist area so its easy to get to, easy to park well worth trying it out. While everyone is complaining about being short of help, that doesn't apply here. It seems everyone works as a team and it really shows. They really care about their customers. Will return next time we come to St. Augustine. read more

Not too busy on a Monday mid-afternoon. Plenty of basic options for breakfast and lunch. Breakfast served all day on Saturday and Sunday only. I was in in the area and decided to stop in here with my daughter for breakfast. Disappointed that no breakfast after 11a on the weekdays. We both decided on sandwiches. I went with the Tuna Melt. Daughter went with the Turkey Panini with American cheese. She took one bite and scrunched the face. Unfortunately, she is a picky eater. However, I did take a bite myself and I had to agree with her reaction. The bread is not what you expect for a panini. It was more of a toasted thin sub sandwich that was just off. My tuna melt was meh. The cheese was too thick and overwhelming. The bacon slices were soggy. It was served with a bag of Lay's, but you have the option of fries. Overall, our sandwiches were not to our liking. I think the price point is more than it was worth. (A fountain drink is almost $3. Sandwich with a bag of Lay's was $8) As for the service, polite but withdrawn. Nice interior with that small hometown feel. Great potential. Keep in mind my review is based on two different sandwiches. They offer an extensive basic breakfast and lunch menu that may be better options. read more

I ordered the Kat breakfast sandwich (1 egg...I ordered 2 over medium...with bacon, spinach, tomato, and feta on a warm ciabatta roll) and was totally impressed. Very nice size, great flavors, and ordered for pick and got it home still warm and yummy! The over medium was cooked PERFECTLY! We stopped in for breakfast and we both really enjoyed ours. I had the southerner which is biscuits and gravy with 2 eggs and cheese over it with either grits or American fries. The American fries were very good, the eggs were cooked perfect and the gravy was very good too. My wife had 2 eggs with American fries and bacon and toast. Breakfast! My favorite meal of the day! I really, really, really liked the food here at the Spot Cafe in St Augustine.. Seemingly unable to order anything sweet for breakfast, my eyes were immediately drawn to the most savory thing on the whole menu; the Tex Mex skillet. Potatoes (yum) with homemade chili, onions, cilantro, tomatoes, cheese and two eggs over medium with a side of jalapenos and a side of salsa (because we might as well go all out on the savory at 9 am in the morning). It was very good! The chili was actually very tasty and it did have somewhat of a kick (I like mine hot, but am still able to distinguish what other people may consider spicy.. lol). My mom ordered toad in the hole or eggs in the hole, whatever it is called. A piece of griddle-d bread with their center taken out and replaced with a fried egg, which she liked! My dad ordered the Black Forest ham omelet which I am pretty sure he enjoyed. We also had an order of the veggie scramble which was quite perfect due to the addition of feta cheese, and my husband ordered a rather simple breakfast per usual; 2 eggs, sausage, grits (blegh) and French toast. This is a blue collar meat and potato type eatery. The real secret is the breakfast menu for me. Only good till mid morning during the week but until closing time, 2 PM I think, on Saturdays and Sundays. The coffee is good and if you are lucky enough to get one of the attentive wait staff, your cup will never see the half empty mark, unless you cry "uncle"! If you get the right one and order your eggs "sunny and runny", you might be able to read print through them, (as you asked), right on top of the French toast. Crispy bacon, home fries and all. ( avoid the tiny tables if possible). The counter is great, if solo. Much quicker! read more

The waitress did not care and joked when asked what happened to our food. when it finally arrived my meal had a hair in it and was sent back and taken off the bill. The bacon was pure cardboard burnt beyond recognition. The bathroom was unable to flush and overflowing with waste. I was never given a spoon for my coffee. No employees had hair nets hats or gloves on. we just moved here and thought we found a great breakfast place 5 minutes from our new home. Well we will never step foot in the place again. So I took the crew to lunch here as we are working down the street. I've heard great things about this place but never tried it and was super excited. I ordered the shrimp with collards and mashed potatoes. BOOM !!! It was great ! The shrimp was lightly buttered not all greasy and allowed me to taste it and the shrimp unlike most places. CATERING SERVICES In the past 3 years, for my office holiday luncheons, collectively, we have figured out that the entire menu can be bid out to an outside-caterer so that all we have to do is decide on a menu and a specific price-point. Our 1st year, we had Barbeque and sides. Last year, it was Soup & Sandwich. This year, it was a toss-up between "Traditional Thanksgiving" and "Southern Comfort Food." However, there was never a question to whom I would hire to be our Caterer. The Spot Cafe, while mostly thought of as a formidable place for a hearty big, Southern breakfast/lunch, I just recently learned of their Catering Services. They cover the whole gamut--from simple to upscale/elegant special events, such as weddings or what I had attended recently, a 30th High School Reunion, for St. Augustine High School, which they gave Top Notch Service and the food spread was heavy hors d oeuvres accompanied by a (Meat) Carving Station and a delicious Dessert Spread of dessert miniatures cannolis. For our Thanksgiving Luncheon, we had turkey, dressing, turkey gravy, mashed potato, butter-honey garlic carrots, bread, butter, deviled-eggs topped with bacon, and Southern Banana-Pudding with a Meringue topping and mini-cannolis. Our order was to feed 20 people, but the portions we got were huge!!! We ate on leftovers today, and still had plenty for my co-workers to take home to their family! If you are having company over for Thanksgiving and/or Christmas, or even a Family-Get Together or a Friendsgiving, skip the over-priced Buffets and long wait times and give Dave a call to handle all of your Catering needs at The Spot Cafe! read more
