The bayfront view from our table

We brought an out-of-town visitor here after not coming in for a few years and it was as good as remembered. I had a traditional breakfast with eggs over medium, bacon, potatoes and a biscuit. The biscuit was great and they make their own Datil pepper sauce, which nicely spiced up the potatoes. Our visitor had the Big Bubba -- a biscuit topped by scrambled eggs topped by sausage topped by gravy. They left no crumb behind. I didn't know they offer ryder sandwiches for lunch, a local staple on the First Coast popularized by early 20th century immigrants from Lebanon. I'll be back for that soon.

So many breakfast spots to chose from and we lucked out with choosing this one. Immediately greeted and seated, happy to wait but again lucked out. It was a Thursday morning around 9. Our server was super friendly and got us our coffee as soon as we sat down. I We split the fruit bowl, it was plenty for 2 and delicious. Even had raspberries & pineapples. I got the Atkins omelet w cheese, absolutely delicious and big enough to bring half home for lunch. Hubby got the spinach omelet w a big biscuit and hash browns. He said it was great, loved the hash browns and raved about the biscuit. Price was just about what we expected. Diane our server was amazing. Highly recommend this cute place.

Here is the good and the bad about this restaurant from my point of view and personal experience visiting St Augustine with little kids. Do I recommend it? Sure, it's not a bad option but also not the best. The service was not that great and it seems like they need more help to run the place but it's a mom and pops so there goes that. The food wasn't bad, we tried the Big Bubba , one with grits and one with Fries, it tasted good either way. When I asked for a cappuccino I was expecting something home made, then I saw my server just picking an option out of the machine just like you can do at Fresh Market so there goes that. (wouldn't order coffee here) . Our toddler had the scrambled eggs with fries and sausage party and it was alright. Fair warning...They are not toddler friendly at all, so if you have kids and a stroller.... Good luck! Otherwise you are good to go here and wait outside to be seated. I was lucky that there was an empty table at the end and had to fold the stroller and put all bags on the floor as they offer me no option to put the stroller anywhere. The lady server was even bothered that I put the stroller next to the cooler but she was able to open the door as needed. (Only once during our meal here and it was because I asked for bottled waters to go) again, not great service. They took forever to even offer us some coffee and water and take our order and seem like they were purposely ignoring us and passing by our table while taking other orders. We were already sat down, stroller folded, toddler seating down, newborn on bassinet and bags on the floor so I wasn't about to get up. *** they don't have toddler seats*** Warning ‼ There is a big step when coming I and getting out and as we were getting in a lady with a walking stick fell down. The best thing about this place is the view of the bay that you get. They have a big mirror on the back that allows you to see the bay behind you or if you are seating forward then it's a nice view. Don't go here expecting great service and if you go with toddlers or little kids expect to sit them in your lap and if you take a small enough stroller then maybe you are good but not with the Uppa Baby Vista.

Went back to Harbor View this past Friday. It always feels like going to visit my favorite aunt. Everyone is so pleasant and attentive. The food always hits. This time I tried the Vegetable Omlette. It was delicious. As always the biscuits are impeccable. The potatoes good but i like them a bit crispier. Great coffee, great vibe. As always, a fantastic breakfast spot.

Fresh Veggie & Cheese omelette, biscuit, and potatoes

Happily surprised to walk right in with no wait on a Friday morning. Service was fantastic and they have a great selection of regular menu items and specials. I chose the veggie and cheese omelette with feta as my cheese choice. Potatoes and a biscuit as my sides. The omelette was big, filling of veggies and feta and cooked perfectly. Delicious and filling, it was exactly what I wanted. The extra large biscuit was crispy and buttery on the top and bottom with a soft and fluffy middle, again perfection. The potatoes were the only "okay" item on my plate. A strange mix of chunks and shredded potatoes that were seasoned well but not cooked enough. I prefer my potatoes a bit more crispy on the outside, with a nice crunch. Overall, excellent food, cozy place and the best service. Location is great too, right I. The heart of all there is to do in the old city, right along the Bayfront.

Been walking by here for years and never stopped in. Usually because there was a line. Little place inside and pretty busy. Lots of choices for lunch and dinner with some local favs. I ordered the Monterey sandwich which had chicken and ham on it. Brioche bun and the fixings made for a nice bite. Deb tried the chicken and potato salads. Both were really good. Service was quick and food came out in a reasonable time. Place seems to walk the line of a local place and a tourist place pretty well.

Very good breakfast. Quick service. Small diner with view of harbor. Definitely recommend. We will come back when in the area.

The family and I stopped at Harbor View Café after I read several Yelp reviews saying this place was great. I ordered a bowl of oatmeal with fresh fruit, à la carte - a bagel, and an egg, with cream cheese. I ate the whole thing, and it was delicious. My family was very hungry. Going into the breakfast and I can say there weren't many crumbs left on the table. The location is perfect right on the main road next to the water. Food: 9.0 - solid overall! Scale system 10/10 would be what I want for my last meal 9.9-9.3 driving out of my way to get this 9.2-8.0 like the place and would go back 7.9-7.0 I would come here again if it were presented and didn't have anything bad to say 6.9 and below - thanks but no thanks after trying once

The male server was attentive and competent but my craft beer was poured as a low abv sour and not my Swamphead IPA hazy request, which was switched out quickly. My Prohibition Burger & Egg was seasoned perfectly and the boiled cajun peanuts had a nice unexpected spicy kick. Aside from the tasty eats, the beautiful 1920's themed bar is notably a mixologists dream. Maybe add a true Speak Easy to the place which would be a cool addition. There was a walk thru to a pricey steakhouse, but not hidden so not really a Speak Easy concept if that was the intent.

The food was good across the board. The burgers stood out as the highlight juicy, flavorful, and cooked well. The fries and appetizers were also solid, and portions were generous enough to leave satisfied. The drink menu is extensive too, with a strong cocktail selection that fits the whole Prohibition theme. Service was friendly and generally on point, even though it was busy. The staff kept things moving and checked in without being intrusive.

I love that they have a grab-and-go selection of meals, sandwiches, sides, and more within the restaurant. I ordered the Al Pastor Margarita and my server told me it was one of their most popular cocktails. After my first sip, I completely understood why. It's crafted with blanco tequila, lime and pineapple agave, Asado Orange Bitters (available for purchase), smoked salt rim, and a grilled pineapple garnish. For my entree, I went with the Asado Trio which includes picanha steak, house-made chorizo, and a signature-spiced chicken thigh. The steak and chorizo were both good, but I have to tell you - the chicken was the star of the show for me which I wasn't expecting. It was so moist and flavorful. Since I eat mostly chicken at home, it's never my first choice of protein when I'm dining out. That should tell you how wowed I was by Asado Life's chicken. The entree came with a house salad which was a very generous size. I really enjoyed their house vinaigrette and the toasted breadcrumbs. The potato salad side was a bit of a miss for me. I did not eat the peppers that came on it which certainly would have added some flavor. It was not bad but needed some seasoning and salt. In retrospect, I should have asked for some of the chimichurri used on the meat trio to add to it. Service was one of the highlights of the meal. My main server Stephanie was great and the servers worked well as a team. I had two different servers deliver my cocktail and then my salad, and everyone was genuinely friendly. I'm excited that they are opening a location in Jax later this year.

We were left feeling unwelcome and dismissed despite there being plenty of seating. Good service starts with treating guests respectfully, and unfortunately that was completely missing here. I sincerely hope the owners see this review, because I doubt they would want potential customers turned away or made to feel unwanted when tables are sitting empty. We left frustrated and took our business elsewhere. I cannot recommend this place based on the way we were treated.

The combination of imaginative cocktails, exceptional food, and a unique atmosphere makes every visit memorable. The cocktail program is outstanding. We enjoy trying a variety of their exotic and inventive drinks, and they never disappoint. The flavors are bold, creative, and unlike anything you'll find at a typical restaurant bar. The Yellow Submarine cocktail is quite possibly the best drink I have ever consumed. Made with curry-infused Bermuda black rum, lime, ginger, and Asian five-spice brown sugar syrup, it sounded unusual on paper but came together beautifully. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered four of them that evening, something I rarely do. That was three years ago, and despite returning several times since then, I have never seen it on the menu again. The food is equally impressive. Two years ago, I ordered the Skillet Roasted New York Strip served with Yukon Gold potato-anna, roasted asparagus and spring onions, watercress, and black truffle hollandaise. To this day, it remains one of the top five restaurant meals I have ever eaten. Every component on the plate was exceptional. The steak was perfectly prepared, the crispy potato galette was irresistible, and the black truffle hollandaise elevated the entire dish to another level. It was the kind of meal that stays with you long after the plate is cleared. I would gladly drive 300 miles just to eat it again. Most recently, I had the wild mushroom bisque, and it was the best soup I have ever consumed. Rich, creamy, buttery, intensely mushroomy, and perfectly balanced, it was everything a mushroom soup should be. The addition of crispy pickled onions and crème fraîche added texture and contrast that made an already outstanding soup even better. My wife and I enjoyed it so much that we returned the very next day hoping to order it again, only to discover it had already rotated off the menu. My only complaint about The Ice Plant is that some of their greatest creations seem to disappear as quickly as they arrive. While I appreciate the constantly evolving menu and understand that seasonal changes are part of what makes the restaurant special, there are certain items that deserve a permanent home. The Yellow Submarine cocktail, the wild mushroom bisque, and the Skillet Roasted New York Strip with black truffle hollandaise are three of the finest things I have experienced there. The fact that I can vividly remember one of these items from three years ago and another from two years ago says everything. Great restaurants serve good food. Truly special restaurants create dishes and drinks that stay with you for years. The Ice Plant has done that for me more than once, and that is why we continue to return whenever we visit St. Augustine.

When I arrived with my pregnant wife and my service dog, he asked somewhat curtly if it was a service dog. It was a pretty cold and uncomfortable welcome. That said, the restaurant is absolutely charming. I really loved the interior ambiance--it's cozy, well-decorated, and has a very pleasant vibe. The food was extremely delicious. We ordered the Half Pound Ice Plant Burger and it was juicy, fresh, and packed with flavor. You could taste the quality in every single bite--the meat was perfect, the ingredients fresh, and everything very well balanced. Definitely one of the best burgers I've had recently. Despite the initial host experience, I would return without hesitation for the food and the atmosphere. Highly recommended, but they could improve the initial greeting.
