As for the staff......our waitress was good and helpful. Then, about 5 min before we were done, I received a phone call from my daughter and grandson because they got a new kitty. Not something you just talk over the phone about, needed FaceTime! The rudest person I believe I have ever met in 50 years of life, poked her head around the corner and very loudly stated she did NOT want to hear my conversation, and to turn my call down or get off. There was only 1 other customer there, on the other side of the room, we couldn't even see from our seats due to a wall. This was JUST an employee. This woman represented the owner, her sister! We immediately got up, without finishing, walked to the front where I said that was the rudest experience I had ever had. She continued with, "no what you are doing is rude!" I said answering a call from my daughter is NOT rude! Treating a customer this way is and I walked out. My husband went to pay, and asked her if she was the owner. She said no, my sister is. To which he replied, "then I don't want to hear another word out of your mouth! Your opinion does not matter! She didn't like that at all. We paid and tipped our waitress but will NEVER return! A no frills neighborhood diner. Nothing earthshattering, not glitzy, not touristy, just good down to earth grub served by real people in a cramped white room with zero attitude. Like you're visiting somebody's house, it's all very welcoming. People seem to know each other's names here --- certainly the guy dressed in pirate garb sitting next to me knew the gals behind the counter. My veggie omelet was decent, but I wouldn't say it was a generous portion like some reviews say. It was just right, not huge, and fairly priced. Coffee is average diner-style stuff however. FWIW the view of the harbor ain't all that great, but you are in a good location, right down the road from the Fort. We brought an out-of-town visitor here after not coming in for a few years and it was as good as remembered. I had a traditional breakfast with eggs over medium, bacon, potatoes and a biscuit. The biscuit was great and they make their own Datil pepper sauce, which nicely spiced up the potatoes. Our visitor had the Big Bubba -- a biscuit topped by scrambled eggs topped by sausage topped by gravy. They left no crumb behind. I didn't know they offer ryder sandwiches for lunch, a local staple on the First Coast popularized by early 20th century immigrants from Lebanon. I'll be back for that soon. read more

Our server was super friendly and got us our coffee as soon as we sat down. I We split the fruit bowl, it was plenty for 2 and delicious. Even had raspberries & pineapples. Here is the good and the bad about this restaurant from my point of view and personal experience visiting St Augustine with little kids. Do I recommend it? Sure, it's not a bad option but also not the best. The service was not that great and it seems like they need more help to run the place but it's a mom and pops so there goes that. When I asked for a cappuccino I was expecting something home made, then I saw my server just picking an option out of the machine just like you can do at Fresh Market so there goes that. (wouldn't order coffee here) . Our toddler had the scrambled eggs with fries and sausage party and it was alright. Fair warning...They are not toddler friendly at all, so if you have kids and a stroller.... Good luck! Otherwise you are good to go here and wait outside to be seated. I was lucky that there was an empty table at the end and had to fold the stroller and put all bags on the floor as they offer me no option to put the stroller anywhere. The lady server was even bothered that I put the stroller next to the cooler but she was able to open the door as needed. (Only once during our meal here and it was because I asked for bottled waters to go) again, not great service. They took forever to even offer us some coffee and water and take our order and seem like they were purposely ignoring us and passing by our table while taking other orders. We were already sat down, stroller folded, toddler seating down, newborn on bassinet and bags on the floor so I wasn't about to get up. *** they don't have toddler seats*** Warning ‼ There is a big step when coming I and getting out and as we were getting in a lady with a walking stick fell down. The best thing about this place is the view of the bay that you get. They have a big mirror on the back that allows you to see the bay behind you or if you are seating forward then it's a nice view. Been walking by here for years and never stopped in. Usually because there was a line. Little place inside and pretty busy. Lots of choices for lunch and dinner with some local favs. I ordered the Monterey sandwich which had chicken and ham on it. Brioche bun and the fixings made for a nice bite. Also on the walls are pictures of some of their food options with a menu description, they seem proud to serve "Jimmy Dean" sausage (peculiar) but hey, the food is great, let's talk about that a bit: I ordered the signature Benny, as an executive chef here is what I was looking for. Correctly cooked eggs that gush out the yolk when you spear one of them with the side of your fork. Check. An ample amount of Correctly made Hollandaise sauce that has some acidity to cut the fat of said delicious yolk. Check. A biscuit or muffin preferably griddled as the foundation of the dish. Check. Thinly sliced ham that Is easy to cut through so that you are not battling with it to stay in place the entire time. Check. Potatoes a mix of reds and hash. A bit peculiar but it was done well. I found my self tapping my toes to the Elton John song playing in the back of my mind. "Benny, Benny, Benny" for the win. My wife had the waffles with scrambled eggs and bacon. I knew full well that I would get to snare the bacon from her plate when she asked me if she should get that or the "Jimmy Dean" as her meat option . Muy yum! Mary's Harbor View was the answer. So my husband ordered the eggs Benedict and he has it all the time but said this was the best he's ever had. I got the Little Bubba which was eggs ( I got over easy) biscuits and gravy and sausage patties. First let me say eggs over easy is pretty simple but these were done better than I could've imagined. We were in St Augustine for a weekend getaway & had a GREAT breakfast here. It was right next to our hotel, with a nice waterfront view. After a very short wait, we were seated at the counter and immediately greeted & offered coffee. My splurge breakfast is always Eggs Benedict, so that is what I ordered. Our waitress said that I ordered the best thing on the menu & I 100% agree. Eggs are served on a biscuit instead of an English muffin...the biscuit was so light and fluffy. Their hollandaise sauce was delicious!! Had a choice of grits, potatoes, or melon as a side. I went with a side of cheese grits....also delicious and perfectly cooked.
