This little Cafe,just off Avenel Menendez Street , is hopping with business. Tucked between a hotel and trolly stop is the go to spot for brunch. Understand that you will wait outside as Mary is a COVID believer and WILL protect her patrons, so bring a mask! The food is absolutely Amazing. I had the smoked salmon omelet and my lovely wife the Belgian waffle with fresh strawberries. My wife, Dawn, said,"It was the best freaking waffle I've had. The service was impeccable! I cannot recommend this place enough. These two women- sisters? - worked so hard, so friendly, so charming. Bonus that the food was fresh- fresh veggies and a variety in my fresh omelette that was nice and thin. Grits were yummy and the homemade biscuit was buttery, soft and huge. Their homemade pepper sauce was recommended and it wass a good addition. The place is small so take your chances in getting g seating. I was there around 730 and there was a few tables and some counter space open. Clean. Art with local scenes on one wall. Appears to have several specials daily. read more

I wanted fruit with my breakfast and the waitress did not want to give me any. I was real disappointed in the meal. The menu is too ambiguous. It says you can substitute. But it is not clear what you really get. Food was ok but they are anti-Trump here. What is even worse is I see that the waitress put the wrong items on each of our checks. So I got to pay for my friends meal that had fruit on it at no extra charge. So not cool. But she was adament I could not have fruit with my meal. read more

My friend and I came down to Florida last week to get away from Charleston, SC for a breather. On our last day in Florida, we ventured around St. Augustine. We got hungry and started walking around aimlessly looking for food. Well that didn't work too well so we got on Yelp. I found this place on Yelp and started walking that direction. We knew it was right by the water from the map so we knew about which way to walk. We got there, and sure enough, it's got a nice view of the water from across the street. Nothing is really on the water side of the street to block the view. One thing that worried both of us was that this place was completely empty of customers. There were a few employees there of course, so we decided we would eat there and try it out. We were told to seat ourselves and the waitress came to the table immediately. I honestly don't remember what my friend ordered but I could not honestly vouch for the way it tasted anyhow. I ordered a barbecue sandwich, being that I'm from the south and love barbecue. The waitress said it came with a bag of chips. I asked her if I could substitute that for anything else. She said no, but that they have other sides. I ordered the potato salad with my BBQ sandwich. Honestly, the barbecue was a disappointment. It was okay, edible. The waitress could not really describe the BBQ sauce to me when I ordered besides it was their house sauce. It wasn't really yellow mustard based or red BBQ sauce either, and certainly was not vinegar based either. I'm not sure what to call it but it wasn't a hit in my book. I would have preferred different sauce. Now on the menu, there was potato salad as a side. There was also egg salad. I ordered potato salad. It was as if she forgot which one I ordered, and just mixed the two together. The potato salad had potatoes in it and large pieces of eggs, which I did not care for. The view of the water from across the street was nice. I didn't mind being the only ones eating there the whole time, because that gave us some peace. The waitress was slow at filling my coffee though and the food was mediocre. I would not return. read more

Our first visit to this cute little cafe nestled right on Matanzas Bay, and a short walk from the old quarter. The fare is typical cafe/diner food, but it was done well. At our table we had biscuits and gravy (a half order was still huge!), French toast, and eggs - all delicious. The service was friendly and efficient. Ugh. Love love love this little place. This spot is very unassuming, and if it wasn't for the line of people hungrily waiting outside, we probably wouldn't have even noticed it. As others have mentioned, it does get pretty busy, and unfortunately, the servers only have two arms and two legs; therefore, if you have a busy itinerary for the day, or if your patience cache is running low, I'd probably steer clear. Now, for the food: amazingggg. It was four of us, and we each got something different, and everyone's food was delicious. The Belgian waffles were especially tasty. The coffee was alright..nothing to write home about, but I had two mugs... The service: awesome. Yes, a little slow, but so sweet and thoughtful. We weren't in a rush, so we appreciated the attentiveness. 10/10 must try. read more

Walking in from a hot and sunny morning, we had seen lettering on the door offering iced coffee, so we each ordered one and then perused the menu... where we found that iced coffee costs $6.25! Each! This shocked us and put me off. It made me see the rest of the menu as slightly overpriced, but we stayed and ate. I was pleasantly surprised when the food came at the unusually high quality of the ingredients, like the fresh tomatoes offered as a side, and the marble rye bread. My husband's omelet was absolutely stuffed with ingredients. I found my ham steak not quite big enough, especially for the price, but was happy enough with the total package. Be warned about the cost of the iced coffee! LOL But otherwise this was a cute place with some very nice ingredients. Absolutely terrible food. Amongst other things, they microwaved raw sausage to "cook" it and served it to us. We were seated at the table closest to the kitchen and could hear "Chef Mike" (the microwave) hard at work throughout our meal. The biscuit was huge but very dry and chewy, the gravy lacked flavor and the sausage patties were the precooked ones they serve in fast food restaurants. When we mentioned that they had forgotten my husband's link sausage, they eventually brought out sausages that were steaming and had obviously been cooked from a raw state in the microwave. They had no browning because they'd never touched a pan and both ends were blown out. Disgusting and unacceptable. read more

Excellent food! But the worst service I have ever expierienced. It's one thing to be busy, which this restaurant sure was, but the staff was incredibly short and rude. Waitress forgot to place our order and when we asked where our food was she simply looked at us with a straight face and said, we forgot to place it... I understand times are thought and business are short staff but that's just not right. I will never be back here, and as a small business owner myself this hurts writing this, but I felt the need to share to the public. Obviously the restaurant knows it's busy, and has good food, but this doesn't not make it justifiable to treat their customers poorly. read more

My sister found this place online and it was AMAZING!!!! The servers were very kind and patient with us and the food was DELICIOUS!!! We had a fruit bowl (sweet and delicious!) and I had the Belgian waffles. The waffles were so delicious that I didn't even need syrup on it. 10/10 I would highly recommend. read more

Visited for brunch today and although parking was a pain, the view from the dining room lives up to its name! It's a little small, and there was no clear spot to put your name in for a table, so we just kind of hovered for five minutes near the counter until a woman greeted us and showed us to a recently-cleared table. Our waitress was super friendly, the coffee was good, and the food came out fairly quickly. The bacon was perfectly cooked and I like how their breakfast potatoes are a mix of home fries and hash browns. The place is bright with natural light and the back mirrored wall makes it feel bigger than it is. I'm really only taking off a star because the prices were a little steep compared to other diner-esque options in the area! read more

My husband and I were excited to try Harbor View Cafe today while on our honeymoon. The restaurant was understandably busy, which wasn't an issue, but when I walked inside to ask where we should wait and if I could use the restroom while we waited for a table, the waitress (an older woman) was very blunt and dismissive asking me to wait outside before I could ask anything. I waited outside for a couple of minutes, but decided I would rather spend my money elsewhere. I'm sure the food is great and she was probably just busy, but the dismissiveness left a bad taste in my mouth, and we won't be back. read more

We went on a Sunday for Memorial Day weekend right at 8:15am- we were able to get street parking right across from it so we didn't have to pay! Orange Trolley stop is right infront of it so we finished eating and hopped right on. We both got one "Lil Bubba" and "Big Bubba", the difference? Big Bubba has an extra side! Unable to provide a proper review due to the waiter asking my family and to leave due to our service animal. According to Florida Statue Chapter 413.08 Section 3(a)&(b), (a) Documentation that the service animal is trained is not a precondition for providing service to an individual accompanied by a service animal. A public accommodation may ask if an animal is a service animal or what tasks the animal has been trained to perform in order to determine the difference between a service animal and a pet. (b) A public accommodation may not impose a deposit or surcharge on an individual with a disability as a precondition to permitting a service animal to accompany the individual with a disability, even if a deposit is routinely required for pets. Not only did this restaurant violate the law, but didn't want to serve us. I find this man to be acting unlawfully, and needs to be educated. Documentation isn't required when asked if I have a service dog. read more

Had a pretty terrible experience here. The store is attempting to socially distance but not doing a good job at it. We sat at a table and were instructed to change where we sat at a four person table to maintain as much distance from the people next to us as possible (which was already greater than 6 feet) however the seat they made us change to was closer to the people behind us and right next to the cashier/bartender so I ended up wearing my mask throughout my entire time seated since we weren't truly socially distanced. Also, only some of the tables are 6 feet apart but others are not. It's hard because they are a small cafe but at that point, you shouldn't be barking at customers to sit in a specific seat (especially if it doesn't make logical sense and is worse social distancing). We were not given menus and we were told to read the menu from the wall on the other side of the room. I thought maybe this was normal (despite being difficult to read) until I realized every table that followed us were given menus. Our orders were placed and we waited a really long time (even longer than the 4 person table that had ordered after us...). It felt very awkward sitting there for a while when I started to realize that I was the only person of color in the entire cafe. It also didn't help that we were much younger than the rest of the patrons, and everyone was getting frequent check-ins and updates except our table. A couple of the patrons also kept staring at me which made me really uncomfortable. Finally the food came and it was pretty disappointing. My boyfriend (who eats everything) picked strawberries his plate (which I've never seen him do in 5 years). It's not too hard to enjoy an egg meal but sadly he only ate the minimum. The bill was slapped onto our table without a word and there was no thank you for dining with us or come again. Overall, didn't enjoy the hospitality (or lack thereof), the food, or the half-attempted social distancing. Perhaps we would have been treated better if we looked like the other patrons, but who knows. Hopefully this review won't get hidden away and they take note of these things so they can improve because I'm a big supporter of local businesses. read more
